+1 there's absolutely no reason not to let dead non-ghosted people hear when they already can see
-
Seconded. It would also promote the use of request consoles.

Elohi Adanvdo Thank you kindly for your explanation. In the days since my original posting I've been working on somewhat of a set of guidelines for proper care for Dionaea nymphs. Might I send it to you for review before making a suggestion of it up in policy suggestions?

It's not quite engineering, but I'm still a bit proud over it. Strip-mine-station 13
-
But another thing is what AmoryBlaine touched upon here. That Nymphs grow into full Dionaea. The Gardener suddenly decides upon "Hey, let's plant some Dionaea and see what happens?" That right there is something that should go against so many NT regulations that it's downright silly This isn't like the Roboticist builds a cyborg and lets someone possess it, with the lawsets, regulations of all. This is like a Roboticist building an unrestricted IPC and then lets it go wild. (Massive security risk) And that's ignoring how absolutely pants-shittingly terrifying Dionaea are when you start considering things. (Enormous security risk) I would have little issue if Nymphs were indeed as dogs or pets (and stayed like it), responsibly controlled by their owner. But they aren't. If someone grows Nymphs then the probability is near 1 that there will be a stray Nymph on the station after a while.
-
Indeed. Now, don't get me wrong on this. I have no issue with players inhabiting pets such as mice, or even cats or dogs. What I'm bothered by is that the Nymph is actively encouraged to be a bother and that it has multiple ways to mess with the people on the station.

My apologies for bringing this up so recently, but we just had round "bT6-cXMI" with the Dionaea plague, and I just need to ask the question What is the purpose of Dionaea nymphs from a pure meta standpoint? I get that it's partly to let the gardeners have something interesting, but what we have here is something completely unrestricted. It doesn't have the rules Drones have to follow It doesn't have the rules pAI has to follow. It doesn't have the restrictive mechanics a mouse has. A nymph is a pest, apparently completely apart from the rest of the rules of the server, and is actively encouraged to seek out and hurt people. That's what it does. It needs to hurt people in order to grow. The thing nibbles people. It nibbles food. It can drag things. It can hide. It can vent crawl. It's as the entire thing was designed to be able to self-antag, and is second in annoyance only to the damn clown. (Glad we don't have that one here). So I ask, why do we allow and encourage this?

I'd prefer if we switched the lethals over to stun rubber bullets as well. It doesn't happen often, but I have had occasions where a "non-regular" Detective drags someone into medbay because they shot them with the belief that they were carrying a non-lethal weapon. To my (albeit somewhat dated) knowledge about other servers, Aurora is the only one who has a lethal weapon for the Detective.

I know for a fact you can make guns as well out of... well, no exactlyt scrap, but certain materials. I believe that having a workshop in Engineering would be good, but having it open to the public would fall under something like "don't dick around in the workplace" -1
-
I'd prefer some other type of engineering event instead of one that could vent the entire station. Something more localized at that.

Had a look at your updated map. In the cryo pod (emergency?) room, have you considered moving the diagnostic scanners up against the southern wall? If you do that then you could turn the (what looks like) the CMO office into a small patient ward with sleepers, beds and IV stands, with a door between them. A sort of combined pre-op/post-op/general treatment room. IMHO the CMO office would be placed at the bottom of the map by the additional diagnostic room, or next to the psychiatrists' office on the construction level. Edit: It's a nice map, but a spot to gather up patients without having them linger in "active" rooms or hallways would be good. Also, bonus points for giving the receptionists a clear view over all seats. The current medbay ignores everyone not standing in the lobby. Edit 2: Ah! We're also missing a bathroom.

No, but seriously. I like this idea. in my mind, most antag rounds turn out lackluster because of a lack of cohesion. Even though the AOOC exists it just won't make people cooperate enough. An overseeing entity would might fix this. Edit: In addition to what has been proposed, we already have the random event where a crate is beamed aboard the station, why not include that into the commander gamemode where the commander can relay the destination of such crates and their contents before they appear on the station.
-
We already have a similar system on donk pockets, so I have no issue with expanding it to All cooked food. That is, my opinion of it as a player who tends to be a chef.
-
I do like this idea. It would put a "Head" of the cult, which is dearly needed in order to organize things.
-
I like this. An ideal round would involve almost the entire crew (except for IPC's) and make things more interesting. I do worry about OOC issues, and that people might feel uncomfortable with having their literal characters taken over, but such is the way with all antags. Another point of worry is that it indeed is a silent antagonist. Perhaps this could be avoided with the ability to give hallucinations and emulate sounds the same way traitors have their voice modifier, but that only the host can hear. : There seems to be a plague of somekind going around on the station. Everyone report to the medbay. : Belay that order, there's someone impersonating me. Stay away from the medbay.

We have already had confessions in this very thread that at least one person tends to vote for game modes they have no intention of playing. It's the same thing. Edit: Also, Kudos to Arrow768 for coding an alert about this very issue.
-
I personally feel that Antagonists and High-RP just doesn't work very well. The ideal antagonist interacts as much as possible with the crew, ensures that as many as possible are involved, all while being interesting. What they can't do is make sense in an HRP way. The majority of the antagonist roles are based around stealth, and attempting to do anything above is to intentionally break stealth.
-
I'd very much like this. Preferably in addition to something that logs people which goes afk/disconnect/ghost or cryo within a certain amount of time after round start, in order to close that exploit, and people who leave just because they didn't get antag.

Perhaps it would be possible to specifically remove them from cloning? It is an interesting mechanic in that you've literally been beaten silly but that kind of abuse is fairly uncommon. Cloning, on the other hand, will cause traumas. I get that cloning is not a right but a gift, but when you find yourself freshly cloned and with a literally unplayable character due to massive traumas and no one has time to treat you, then death was the superior option.

Having a sneaking suspicion that one of the primary goals of this was to ensure that the EMT had easier access to the rest of the station, and a deterrent to the regular medical personnel, ensuring that the EMT had priority. I will say it succeeded, even though what they actually needed was improved access and either starting with an Odysseus or an equivalent vehicle.

Can't speak to OP's intentions but there are plenty of chemicals other than those enabling mutations which are useful in botany. Anti-toxins, weedkillers, pestkillers, fertilizers, plant healers.
-
I thought they could move through vents and scrubbers. Might be mistaken though.
-
Just have to remember that whatever affects mining like this will also affect Xenoarchaeology.
-
+1 This looks lovely. it has a lovely aesthetic design. Everything is easily accessible. Looks pretty as F. Though may I suggest that the vent and scrubber in the enclosure be removed so that you can safely keep bees in there?

Paper Cups would be nice to have added for hospitality, for folk who want food and drinks on the go.
