To be fair the scrubber event doesn't make sense in the first place. Why would there even be chemicals in the air scrubber?
-
I looked at the code and it uses an interpreter not coded inside byond but rather some exec or dll file. The file probably doesn't run sometimes or something, I don't know.
-
I remember not seeing this in a few rounds where I encountered SSD people.
-
No there isn't. It only shows up after a certain amount of time.
-
While it is hilarious seeing an assistant break into science to see if the "He isn't responding to anything around him and seems to be unconscious." isn't actually dead, but SSD, it's kind of dumb. I remember it being easier to tell at a glance but maybe I'm just misremembering. Regardless it would be nice. I don't think SSD people snore anymore so re-adding that would be nice. It might be hilarious and useful too to add floating Zs above an SSD's person head.

[2 DISMISSAL; Bin 07.01.2020] Security Skirts (Again)
BurgerBB replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Archive
yeah let me uh get stunbattoned on the floor by someone wearing a security skirt yep -
I discovered last night that tcomm scripting is actually broken and doesn't accept any NTSL2 code. I implore other people here to try and and prove me wrong.
-
I made skull code something that was already coded because I'm dumb rip.
-
The guide on the wiki and the book in game doesn't really explain anything on how to run tcomm scripts, or rather how to get them working. It doesn't say what equipment is needed and what I should be running it on. I've tried runnin tcomms code on a laptop but nothing work. I mean, I didn't expect it to work but the wiki nor the guide doesn't make it clear on how to do it.

Scrubbers need to be reworked. I'm pretty sure it can still trigger even though the vent is welded or off.

Absolute Unfair Ruling - Pratepresidenten, ShesTrying
BurgerBB replied to BurgerBB's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I also take issue with the fact that they prematurely closed the player complaint thread after saying the last word, but I guess that's not really a problem since this thread exists now. Honestly it would be nice if the HoS of that round could comment on whether or not they felt that they were going to lose the fight we had in the cockpit at any point. From my perspective, it feels like I did almost get them a few times even with a screwdriver. I don't know if anyone knows this, but screwdrivers are pretty robust. -
BYOND Key: BurgerBB Staff BYOND Key: Pratepresidenten, ShesTrying Game ID: b4N-a07t Alright. So here is what happened in full. I join mid round as a cyborg. Code green, but my laws were overridden. The AI asked me if I knew my updated laws and I said yes. I asked them what the plan was and they said they didn't really have a plan and that I should act normal. Another cyborg chimed in and offered gimmick advise, and the AI followed that. It was very clear the AI didn't know what they were doing and I genuinely thought they were new. A MALF AI later orders me to cut power to the SM. I am extremely hesitant to do this as sabotaging power is against the rules without escalation and I saw 0 escalation from the AI's part. I also initially thought they wanted me to cut the main APC that was in charge of powering the high volume pumps, as there is quite a big difference to cutting power TO and FROM the supermatter. I cut power from the supermatter, hoping that is what they meant. Later in the round they wanted me to cut power to the Tesla. I was also hesitant at first because again, another act of power sabotage that I didn't really see any escalation for. It's against the rules to do it without proper escalation so I put it low on my priority list, but eventually did it. APCs started to explode all over the station, and power was failing quickly because of my sabotage. However, I noticed that because of this, the departures APC exploded which is a serious APC that may or may not have affected the AI's gimmick later down the road as well as a potential rule violation as I have been noted in the past for sabotaging the APC. In the meantime, the AI was constantly bitching at me for not cutting the power despite me actually cutting the power. I told them that I did indeed cut the power but they did not seem to believe me. I discovered that RCON was setup properly very early in the round, which mean that cutting the main power did nothing. I decided to then sabotage the security SMES without anyone asking me to as they were starting to get suspicious of the AI and I needed to keep them out of the armory. When the crew shuttle was called, the AI asked me to go into a combat module. I asked the AI to hold on because I needed to rescue another cyborg who fell in a hole. They did not respond back, from what I recall, so I kept on as a construction module (needed for repairs), trying to find the fallen borg. I fell in a hole, thinking it was the cyborg's light, but it was just the training wing for security. I tried getting back in by carefully screwdriving EVA open as I did not want to cause any alarms, but the AI kept resetting me despite my plees to ask them to stop. I told them that I was stuck but they ignored me and kept trying to reset me which prevented me from getting unstuck for a bit as there was an indestructible nanotrasen flag in the way and a table I could not shoot at. When I managed to to get to departures, they wanted me to be a combat borg and prevent people from leaving and kill the HoS. I didn't see any need for this, as I was just as capable of preventing them from leaving as a construction cyborg and I thought it was excessive that they wanted me to murderbone people trying to leave despite them not really being involved at all in the round. I don't remember exactly, but I ahelped this or the order to kill the HoS, and said the admin couldn't deal with it, so I didn't do it in fear of breaking rules. I compromised by placing a human-to-cyborg machine in the bridge in order to convert crew. The machine was placed oddly, so it didn't work as planned, so I engaged in combat with the Head of Security, trying to place them on the machine. I failed as they had a fire axe. A complaint was made against me for not following orders. I defended myself saying that I wasn't acting malicious at all, trying to help improve the round, and that I actually followed the orders, except the Head of Security order because I could not successfully kill him and at the time, there was no escalation for this. The complaint was ruled against me because I didn't follow the orders to kill crew who were either not present on the shuttle or they weren't involved at all in the round. I didn't want to risk a murderboning ban, so instead I tried to roleplay it out by making a machine converter on the shuttle and making people enter the cockpit, which as I said failed. I don't think this is fair to me or anyone who plays on the server. I don't think the admins in question did not look at the logs close enough and did not really consider intent. This is what the admins had to say. Like none of what is posted here is sane or rational. They're saying I didn't ahelp but I did actually ahelp. Twice, but an admin wasn't online. "You must maintain character at ALL TIMES." was cited as a rule break despite me doing that, giving the AI advise, doing things as they asked to the best of my ability. If I was a rogue borg of a rogue borg, I would've completely ignore the AI, which I didn't. I did what I was told but at a pace that showed that I had good intentions. "Additionally, keep your character's goals in mind. " same as above. My goal is to serve the AI and I don't think I'm serving the AI when I'm cutting their main source of power, but I did it anyways because that is what I was told. I tried killing the HoS at the end. I tried preventing people from leaving by spamming as many doors that the AI could interact with as possible in departures. I followed the AI's goals. "As a Cyborg, you are a type of Station-bound synthetic designed to serve the crew of the NSS Aurora, much like the station's AI. You are an extension of the AI and are required to do anything it asks (within reason)." was also cited as a rule break because apparently the "within reason" does not apply to rogue borgs despite that not saying that literally anywhere. And the worst part about this all is that I think the handling admins had 0 empathy really. They didn't give a shit that the AI was acting like a total dick to their cyborg and causing them issues. They didn't give a shit that they were constantly acting like a dick in the complaint thread. They just echoed the sentiment that I'm a slave and that I should do whatever the AI tells me to do regardless if it breaks OOC rules. And honestly the passive aggression from the staff was just fucking awful. I saw people miserable in a round. I tried my best to escalate every order because it is my responsibility as an antagonist to do this. I got praise here and elsewhere for escalating properly and trying to make the round fun and creative for others. This wasn't me hijacking the AI's gimmick, I was doing what they were told but I was applying more to it. Despite my good intentions, I'm getting a note and a berating from staff because I didn't do things fast enough and I was questioning the AI's decision. I think there is a problem here. The problem is that the staff in question are forgetting that there is a player behind the screen. There is a player who has all antagonist preferences off and isn't used to playing an antagonist. Despite being here for 2 years, I still have a lot to learn about this game and I am still learning yet apparently when a player who doesn't play antagonist that well, does something good for the crew at the expense of a player who is upset because I didn't do things fast enough in the last few minutes of a round. It's honestly an extremely sad state when you have a MALF who admins said didn't escalate properly and "perhaps played a shitmalf", but deemed there was no punishment needed. They did deem there was punishment needed to the player who doesn't play antag on a regular basis, who tried their best to help the round for others, and allegedly broke the rules for not doing things fast enough because they were extremely concerned about escalation in a round with no staff.

Aurorastation is the only relevant server that I know that has this issue. If you're sideways, you can't interact with anything. You can't use items. You can't use your PDA. You can't interact with your hardsuit interface. You can't move. You can't touch items or anything. When you're sideways, you somehow lose all motor functions. It doesn't matter if you're resting, stunned, paralyzed, or anything. You cannot interact with anything. This issue has existed for a century on Aurora but because of new brainmed, it's become significantly worse and more detrimental. This really needs to change. Again, Aurora is the only relevant server I know that has this issue.

[+1 dismissal]An addition to the cropped porn rule
BurgerBB replied to wowzewow's topic in Rejected Policy
I want to share a story with everyone here. I belonged to a community called Facepunch. Facepunch owned garrysmod and rust and a community formed around that. The community got pretty big and wasn't just about gmod anymore. Facepunch had a serious problem with some of its users. They had a lot of pedophiles and furries openly expressing their interests either through text or their avatars. It was always obvious cropped animated porn avatars. Most of the moderators didn't care because they were either furries themselves or didn't see it as an issue because it was hilarious to them or they masturbated to it. I made a thread about it how we should remove the cropped porn avatars because it was tiring having to scroll down while browsing at highschool every time someone had animated porn avatars. It drew the attention of literally everyone and the support of them too, but of course furries acted like my opinion was a war crime, especially coming from someone like me who successfully quit the furry fandom and went "clean" for 3 years. There was a lot of jealousy because of it and I ended up getting constant death threats and harassment. Turns out furries and pedos who set their avatar to loli shit or furry porn weren't the most rational people, but I digress. I say all this because even as a champion of anti-degeneracy, removing furry avatars is just dumb. Yeah having your avatar to anime or furry shit is cringe, but it's not really worth banning over tbh. Having those avatars go away won't somehow stop the creepy behavior inside Aurora. -
I am not talking to you anymore dude. I am talking to the admins who made this verdict. Your claims that I'm trying to attack you are absolutely infuriating and I am not sifting through all that just to read further lies and misconceptions. Like jesus dude. To the dealing admins, the more I re-read the verdict the more issues I find with it which is why I now have 3 posts made in response to it. Where does it say that "You are an extension of the AI and are required to do anything it asks (within reason)." only applies to lawed borgs? How did you come to this conclusion? Where would I be made aware of this fact? Why was "ahelping a bad AI and then reluctantly following orders because the orders were against the rules" butchered down to "Ignoring orders because you OOCly don't agree with them"? Did you expect me to follow the orders and risk a ban for improper escalation? You straight up admitted here that it was improper escalation on the AIs part which is 100% against the rules. Are players expected to follow the commands of those in charge of them even if it breaks the rules? If I followed the orders the AI gave without adding a delay, I would've gotten a player complaint against me, which would also have been resolved like this stating "While you were following orders, you shouldn't break escalation rules. You were given a warning and a note in the past for this behavior, so a ban will be applied." or something along the lines of it. Just consider my options here and the very likely outcomes: Option One: Listen to the AI and do as they say without question. Upset 10+ people for locking down departures and starting a firefight with the HoS who had jack shit for weapons. Risk a ban for being a part of poor escalation because of my previous warning on the matter as well as several notes I've gotten on the same thing they were ordering me to do. Have people argue that I've done this before and knew that it was wrong to do. Have Godwin's law invoked many times even though I use the defense "I was just following orders." Option Two: Listen to the AI, but escalate for them. Upset 1 person while I smooth the round out for the rest of the crew. Risk a ban for not listening to AI. Option Three: Cryo because I'm sick of it all. Upset 1 person because I left them when they needed me. Have the AI make a complaint against me because I am unable to prove that I handle being antag. Admins agree because cryoing as an important role is generally against the rules unless told to admins. Since there were no admin that I could tell, they'd say that just note me the same here for leaving. I regret not doing option three, but I do not think I should get any notes at all or anything for that matter for doing this. What I did was the best possible outcome for others.

Like, you even admitted that the AI escalated improperly. Why should I as a cyborg listen to an AI who is telling me to break rules? Like just look again. Let's stop pretending to be enlightened centrists here by saying both sides were wrong, especially when the thing that's wrong about me is untrue. I followed orders, except I escalated properly with them because the AI was ordering me to break rules at a pace that I deemed was poor escalation, and that you also deemed as poor escalation here. Because I did this, the AI started behaving exceptionally toxic towards me and then later in this complaint yet the toxicity doesn't seem to be addressed here. Why am I being told I did something wrong for something I didn't actually do? Why are you trying to compare us to eachother despite our "sins" being exceptionally different? How can you say that I was wrong for not following the orders to the AI when you're also telling them that them making those orders was wrong? Why am I somehow also in the wrong here for trying to create a good round while also following rules?
-
I followed orders, though. The only order I didn't follow was "kill x" which I didn't do until later in the round because of escalation issues. And I ahelped it. I ahelped it and the admin said he couldn't deal with it at the time and told me to make a complaint, which I did. I really don't think this middle-of-the-round "both sides are wrong here" verdict is appropriate here.

Honestly I wish the in game year was just [CURRENT YEAR]+500 for easy reference instead of this arbitrary number.
