  1. Going to also throw out to keep this thread on topic. The staff team is not interested in whatever other players are dragged into this complaint. We care explicitly about Sycmos and the people directly involved in the complainted actions.
  2. Hi gang. I know there's quite a few longstanding community members involved in this complaint, but keep in mind that complaint forums are meant to show evidence and for the person being complainted to defend themselves. There is no room for namecalling or blatant insults here. Chill out. This also covers accusations and veiled insults as well. Act like adults.
  3. You are not able to use headcanoned degrees to circumvent rules on metagaming.
  4. Also, I was referring to you not knowing the rules on canonicity.
  5. how exactly do you claim the engine was not sabotaged before an explosion even happens
  6. Hi. Metagaming is using OOC information in any context to influence your decisions ICly. In this case, you used what you know about INDRA explosions to justify jumping the gun and siccing security onto the case of what was, in actuality, just a mishap from an engineer/apprentice that caused the explosion. This significantly hampered the antagonist's gimmick with very little reasoning behind it. Your XO certainly wouldn't be able to tell the engine was deliberately sabotaged just by looking at it either, as it is not their expertise as an XO. I find this deflecting of blame onto the AI very flimsy when 90 percent of the ticket was you trying to tell me why you thought it was definitely sabotage from an IC perspective and only bringing the Captain and AI into it after I pointed out your reasoning was not sound. This tells me you came to your own conclusion anyway regardless of what the AI would or would not have said. IIRC Command backpedaling was because some of them had ahelped it as engine griefing and then backed down once they were made aware of what happened so as to not further jump onto the antags, though I don't remember perfectly. You have been here for literal years. Nearly as long as me. There is no reason you should not know this by now. Especially not to the point of using it to double down hard on sabotage. Overall, you took what was an engineering mishap and blew it up into a hunt for saboteurs and used your own OOC knowledge to justify this to me in the ahelp, making it metagaming. Incorrect metagaming. That hindered an antag's gimmick severely. I stand by the warning.
  7. Hi. I'm willing to lift this. Make sure you reread the rules on escalation and antagging.
  8. Hi. Sorry this took so long, quite simply forgot about it. Anyway, there really isn't a world in which any of this doesn't look terrible. I'm not really sure how we went this long without anyone seeing or doing anything about this, but that's going to change. This is going to be a discord ban until appeal, which you can do in a month. I don't think there needs to be much explanation as to why. This stuff ain't okay. If there's nothing else, this will be closed tomorrow.
  9. I'll be taking this complaint. Give me a day or so to look things through.
  10. Alright, I HAVE seen you playing some rounds as a non-antag, so I'll give you a second chance. Don't be afraid to ahelp with questions if something confusing crops up.
  11. this will unfortunately be more or less the same thing, as removing sensors and removing an accessory are the same amount of button clicks in the same UI
  12. Personally I was against the removal as I'm part of the crowd that thinks more station death isn't really a good thing (similar to what ImmortalRedshirt said) but at the same time I cannot really contest the fact that the sensors pretty often fuck over antags the absolute moment they try something. It's just a solid fact. For that reason, I think whatever is brought up should at LEAST get a testmerge, as we really don't know how this is going to affect the game since we've not had to deal with it yet, so we may as well give it a try to see if its good for the game or not. I also very much dislike the talk about medical as a whole being toxic, as simply put the truth is that its a select few people that are the issue and SHOULD BE AHELPED if they are talking shit to new players or in general, as it is clearly casting a bad view on the entire department. I still think it is unfair to say the entirety of medical's playerbase is toxic just for voicing opinions on PRs they do not enjoy (though the people throwing out insults are very much toxic and need to be talked to). It is fine to have the opinion that less death is preferable. That is why it is an OPINION. People are not toxic just for thinking otherwise. (Though this only applies to the people who actually do it civilly and not the bad actors who decide to start hurling insults).
  13. While talking to some people in VC, we discussed random events and new ones that could be fun. The one we came up with first was simple, its just like the Ionospheric Anomalies event, but instead of turning comms off, it just grants everyone access to every channel temporarily. So everyone now has sec radio, command radio, med radio etc for like a few minutes. ...thats basically the entire suggestion lmao
  14. I am willing to unban you here, but you need to understand that you will probably receive an unappealable one if this becomes a problem again. Your history is riddled with going AFK and most of the time as a limited slot role. We really can only give so much benefit of the doubt here.
  15. So, one of medical's big problems, at least for me, is the fact that EVERYTHING is entirely reliant on either surgery or drugs. Broken lung? Pneumalin or surgery. Broken heart? Api or surgery (though Asystole has the defib now). It creates the assembly line effect and in general, gets pretty repetitive. I think the way to get around this is to start adding other ways to treat the same thing that physicians can do, both because it actually gives physicians something to do and because variety is the spice of life, especially if the new thing is actually more effective and pneumalin is now the backup. Thus, my suggestion. I think we should add a chest pump machine to Aurora. In real life, these are used to remove air from the space outside your lungs so that they are able to expand again and is a common treatment for Pneumo/hemothorax. Since this is a video game, we can just say it also repairs damage to the lung while it is at it, or maybe differentiate between pneumothorax from no oxygen and pneumothorax from a bullet. Overall I think it would be neat to have an alternative, physician-friendly way to treat one of the most common injuries we have. Hell, I could probably even have a go at spriting it and commissioning a coder since I have no idea how it would work, but I want to gauge people's impression of it first.
  16. This is how it used to work before it was changed, and it was changed because it ended up as fifty people being in medical within 15 minutes and the vampires getting gigaexecuted almost instantly as a result.
  17. The counterplay did basically nothing since every single engagement was avoided via veil walking until Shaw died which was purely because he just happened to not veil walk at the time when he probably could have. Something with no counter isn't really something to be rewarded.
  18. There isn't really a skill-based way to prevent this that does not involve metagaming that shaw is a vampire, though.
  19. In the most recent Vampire round at the time of this post, Solomon Shaw (would like to preface this by saying there was escalation and RP to the fights and that I do not hold ill will towards their player) used Veil Walk extensively to the point that every single engagement led to them being able to just fuck off through the wall and continue the chase for more or less the next two hours. I don't blame them for this, it's simply the smart thing to do when you are getting fifty tranq darts and bullets shoved down your throat. What I do blame is the fact that Veil Walk can be used this extensively in the first place. At some point during the round, I had successfully landed a Tranq dart on Shaw. They went under while Veil Walking (which I didn't even know could happen) and remained in Veil Walk for the next three minutes straight as all of security stared at them. It never wore off, the tranq dart DID wear off, and then they went right back through the walls and continued the manhunt. While antags having escape options is nice and good for the server, it should not be nearly this fool-proof and consequence-free. It sure as hell shouldn't last multiple minutes straight, at the least. I think the blood cost of Veil Walk should rise significantly, and preferably that a cooldown of some sort is placed on it, as this is pretty unfun to deal with as security.
  20. It's pretty simple. They asked you to stop because they were just genuinely trying to find someone to play with, and you proceeded to continue after multiple repeated requests to stop. The links to chatGPT games was after like the third request to stop. Thus you broke the don't be a dick rule.
  21. As the HoS that was getting scolded, I will say that it would be nice to tone down the command radio arguing. It's pretty hard to stay involved with whatever is going on when the entirety of command radio is people arguing with Shaw.
  22. Hi. I'm willing to give you a second chance since this was your first ban. Just keep in mind to pay attention to the metagaming rules and such so this doesn't happen again. Appeal accepted.
  23. As a surgeon main, I really like this idea because it actually gives the poor physicians something to do instead of having to throw bone patients at the OR at mach ten by requirement, and past that it adds some much needed variation to injuries to switch the medical assembly line up a bit. I think adding a specific bonechem (throwing Osteodine as a name out) is better than using calcium, as I think a simple electrolyte growing bones however slowly is really goofy. On that note, I think having calcium be a component of a chem that makes bone injuries less likely could be cool as a preventative supplement. Another concern I have is how complicated the bone surgeries/fixing can get. Firstly, I think Stress/Hairline should be renamed to Stress/Bruise. Secondly, I think the requirement for bone chem on this one should be gone just to give solo physicians and whatnot better usefulness (even if the medbay has it at roundstart). Thirdly, I think it would be neat if Comminuted Fracture caused blood loss to simulate losing bone marrow. Maybe replace the Hemostat step with the vascular recoupler.
  24. This is how it went for me. An ahelp came in that the Xenobiologist had let all the slimes/monkeys loose and DC'd at a desk. I teleported over to you, and you were standing, DC'd (without ahelping that you had to leave or using a cryo chamber, which is also against the rules) and you had at LEAST 25 slimes surrounding you with blood all on the floors and the corpses of monkeys strewn about. There is basically no way to do this on accident and it is certainly not "running correctly" when basically all of the slimes have broken loose. This looked like plain griefing, and honestly I still stand by the verdict. I'm not really willing to believe you simply went AFK when all the slimes were running amok. That being said, is this an unban request or a staff complaint? It is written as being the latter, as unban appeals are for when you admit fault and acknowledge the ban. Can just move it over to the right section on the forums if so.
