This will just result in six slots fighting to do the same thing, or people going behind one another's back to take the patients.

Given gem's new PR, I am going to drop my opinion here. Removal of the surgeon is a bad idea for multiple reasons. For one thing, everyone in medical having the same job now is going to be a trainwreck. We used to have four surgeon slots, and it always ended up with two surgeons actually using the ORs and the other two not doing anything. You can say "well they can just do GTR work then" but if we do that then we just have the exact same setup as we do now with way less flavour. Two ORs, two people for surgery. Having surgeons and Physicians as being distinct offers a lot more character growth, as most players do think about this distinction when making their medical char. Just blending everything together makes it all samey and boring. Nobody has their special thing, with physicians being great at general care and surgeons being great at, well ,surgery. Saying this gets rid of the chart is not a very great argument either because the chart nowadays boils down to physicians not being allowed to do anything with organs. That's it. If people cannot understand that, they should not be playing medical. Overall this change just takes away and doesn't really do anything for the game but make medical into a moshpit of six people fighting for the same job. It's a bad idea. -1

I agree with this. Marooning has essentially become the norm when it comes to captured antagonists. It's the new HuT. Stranding every criminal on a barren rock doesn't really make a lot of sense IC or OOCly, so restricting it to uncontainable things makes sense. Stranding the cultist who has teleported out of the brig four times makes sense. Stranding the remaining merc after they got swacked does not.

Player Complaint - Marlon Phoenix
Roostercat replied to Alberyk's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Okay, after painstakingly looking through logs as well as this thread a few times, I believe I have come to a conclusion. Overall, I believe your behavior has been very poor, and not reflective of what we consider decent for a player. You play Devil's Advocate a lot, half the time with no real reason beyond doing it just for the sake of it during arguments over the state of Aurora's events. You say that people are getting mad at you and saying you have no opinion because you do not play, but at the same time you constantly chastise other people's opinions when they do play, like I said, playing Devil's Advocate. This has been brought up many times, you know not to do this, yet you continue anyway. This conversation about throwaway characters in particular comes to mind. This led to people getting upset because you keep contradicting the general opinion despite having not played in events for a long time. This is an issue. On the subject of the complaint involving abuse, I really believe you misuse the term abuse to make people that disagree with you look worse. The main instance is the argument on discord regarding the pride flag spam where you claim someone is using the language of your abusers simply because they were upset about your attitude. This is not something to label someone an abuser over. ESPECIALLY in a complaint on the forums with a link to the definition of mental abuse, which was over the top and unneccessary. The pride flag issue itself was also something you started, by spamming pride flag emojis on everything the same person posted, leading to a lot of annoyance and an argument with the current loremaster. In addition, you show a consistent tendency to derail conversations, sometimes with a made up position and other times with something completely irrelevant to the conversation, such as bringing up what people sent you in DMs after being asked to explain your position or bringing up cloning changes during something else. This just throws conversations out of whack and prevents people from talking seriously about things, which is not okay. All of that coupled with other behaviors, such as being condescending and arguing in bad faith, shows a toxic attitude that is not welcome on this server. If you are not going to treat others with respect and good faith, then you are not going to be allowed in the community. You have been told about this and warned about this countless times, and show no signs of changing, especially since you stand by all of them, as per your responses to this thread. For that reason, I am going to be applying a permanent ban to your account both for discord and the game until appeal. This complaint is considered resolved, and if there is nothing else, I will be locking and archiving it tomorrow. -
My main question with this is how antags in general are handled. Is this just spawning antags as normal but giving them the option of on station or off, or is this going to start spawning multiple antags all the time? Like vamp traitor or ling merc or so on. Because I'm of the opinion that the latter would result in constant clusterfucks that involve little RP before everything goes to hell.

Player Complaint - Marlon Phoenix
Roostercat replied to Alberyk's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I'm still mulling over logs and things, but whilst I do that I'll address some things that have come up since my last post. This complaint is about your past behavior and a pattern of toxic attitude/derailment. It encompasses much more than calling you toxic "for calling out abuse" and I gave Cael permission to post with his piece because it is relevant, and not unfounded. This complaint mostly has recent things, at least the past six months. I am going to stress again that I have deemed Alberyk's strike irrelevant. Stop posting about it. That goes for everyone here. With the wording you used, I am really confused about what you are asking me here. -

Going to take this opportunity to say that nobody should post on this without actual evidence to back it up, and only if you are actually involved. DM me on discord if you aren't sure if you fall into the involved category. -
Player Complaint - Marlon Phoenix
Roostercat replied to Alberyk's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Hi. I'm going to be taking this complaint. Give me a bit to re-read it all and come up with a response as there is a LOT to read and review here and the logs on discord which I will probably go look at myself as well. As a preface in case replies go out whilst I do the above, I am going to address some things that stand out to me. To my knowledge as former lorestaff, this is not true. New staff are not warned about your existence, at least not as far as I am aware. Either way, this incident and things surrounding it is relatively irrelevant to the complaint, please cease talking about it. This incident in particular is also irrelevant. Things done to you do not justify what you do to others. Cease talking about this as well. In general, be careful about what is brought up here. This is about an alleged pattern of behavior regarding derailing conversations and general toxicity, and anything not directly involved with that should not be discussed. While the timing does make it look retaliatory, I will say there is enough stuff on this complaint to take it seriously regardless, not that I've come to any decisions yet. Please don't bring this up again either. With that out of the way, I'll reply again soon with questions and-or maybe a verdict after ive reviewed everything. -
Lower the brain damage paralysis threshold from 50% to 20%
Roostercat replied to Sheeplets's topic in Archive
I think 30 percent is a happy middle ground. 20 percent and below you are essentially on death's door, but realistically flat unconciousness should at least happen before that. Good change either way, won't be heartbroken if more people want the 20 percent. -
Ditto with this. Vampires being forced to either kill or get instantly exposed is just lame, and really just dumbs down vampires by a lot to begin with, making them a TDM antag, essentially. Only so much roleplay is going to happen when killing has to be the end result.

The people in GTR needed surgery, not additional chems that overall would not make them more likely to survive alone. On the management side, there was also next to no communication over the radio, either. So I am sticking to my guns about lacklustre medical play here. I have mained medical for the past three years. I am not just some bystander that doesn't know what is going on. The play was bad and many of the deaths could have been avoided with surgery or even just oxygen/blood (multiple patients of which had neither going for them). Trying to call someone a "racist lunatic" purely because they shot you is extremely rude and, quite frankly, abhorrent. Anya had plenty of IC reasoning to shoot your CMO, since this is still a roleplay server where things happen based on IC happenings, so it was justified. This is a blatant lie. She begans shooting at you, you run offscreen, safe, Anya is IMMEDIATELY disarmed after, and then you run back in, stare at her with your disruptor out for a few seconds, and then open fire whilst they are typing. Anya did not even have a weapon in her hands when you began firing.
-
Hi. I am the unknown that okayed Anya being made traitor. It was a hectic crossfire round with a lot of injured people in the medbay, so I will go over my reasoning for why I okayed it. From what I was told (from multiple people, mind), a lot of the deaths were very avoidable. Engineers who fought the intruders were completely overstepped in favor of saving the antags, one of which even shot their savior right before, and when the engineers finally DID get to medical, they were not saved or anywhere close. From what I saw personally, there were multiple people in asystole in GTR, and you were nowhere to be found. That compounding with the obvious anger that would arise from this much crew death, is why I okayed this action. I still see it as justifiable. This is not entirely true. You DID get away at first, running into maintenance as security stopped Orlova from shooting further. You then unholstered your disruptor, ran back in blasting, and died from the returning fire.

[Denied] Rupert Monroe's Ban Appeal
Roostercat replied to BiggieNutJr's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Having looked at your notes, this is by far not the first time you have been banned for LRP behavior, and if you were to be unbanned, I do not believe it would be the last. Since you are clearly not changing and your reasoning is fairly lacking, I do not feel lifting this one would benefit the server. Appeal denied. -
seconding this. The amount of lounge spaces shouldnt be lowered. Its nice to have places to have roleplay with only one or two other people where someone else isn't going to just interrupt at any time for any reason

Desven's Vaurca Lore Writer App
Roostercat replied to Desven's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Over my time as Bug Maintainer, Desven was a huge help and quite honestly, probably did more lore than I did overall. He was invaluable in making the Bulwark come to life through sprites and helping with the arc that introduced them, and I'd be happy to see him take my place, as it were. Any questions I'd have for him have basically been asked already, so I feel comfortable leaving it at that. Big +1 -
This just adds "Rob the vault" to the list of three total common gimmicks, it doesn't really fix the issue. Robbing the vault, again, doesn't really involve anyone BUT security as well. Encouraging gimmicks that basically exist to end in TDM like this isn't very conductive to roleplay. While it might make sense for the ship to have one, I think the former is a good enough reason not to.
-
Going to second Danse's opinion on Vault gimmicks. They tend to always go one way and usually aren't fun for anyone but security and the antagonists. I don't think we'd benefit from re-adding it, even if it does make more sense for the Horizon to have one as opposed to the Aurora.
-
I don't really see a reason to do this. It just removes stuff because one person doesn't like it. The pets are fine, and can bring RP pretty often. -1

Hi. I'm the guy that gave you the initial warning. What kind of punishment you get is largely up to the staff member, it does not HAVE to follow the escalation outlined in the rules under certain circumstances. In this case, you deliberately ignored what I told you, tried to make your self-antag arc canon anyway, and was banned due to being told off about it right before in a warning. You also said "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" when told you likely wouldn't be given permission to do things like this anyway, which shows us you really don't care much about the rules and were looking for a way to game the escalation system. That is why you were given a permaban. In conclusion, you were permabanned because you blatantly ignored a staff ruling.

Hi, I do like this idea, and think it consuming phoron during the crisis is an interesting way to make it relevant. I'm the one who wrote the original article, and iirc I left it at that because there were concerns about the article and powercreep or something along those lines back then. I don't know, looooong time ago. Anyway, I find this interesting enough to add into lore in some capacity, so I'll be moving this to deferred acceptance. Woo.

Nol wants to rule medbay (Command App)
Roostercat replied to Nol4's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've been enjoying their CMO a lot. They are knowledgable enough, coordinate well, and act like a normal person. +1 for sure.
