Half of the time XO is unofficially treated like second in command unless someone explicitly brings up the fact that they are not. That being said, I think Bridge Officer sounds nice.

Freshrefreshments - Garnascus staff complaint.
Roostercat replied to FreshRefreshments's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Hi. I was the person that mentioned getting the game. First off, I have no clue to the specifics of the JK Rowling drama nor do I actually care. I just saw a game from a franchise I like and bought it because I wanted a wizard game. People do not have to look into the background of every game's creator and decide whether to enjoy the content based on the creator's beliefs instead of just what is in the game. You then decided to post major spoilers right after confirming that I bought it just to be a dick. Your feelings towards the game's creator do not magically justify this. This is literally just a clear cut violation of rule 1 because you feel like ruining the plot for some moral grandstanding that doesn't even make sense. -
FUCK I forgot to respond to this. But yeah I'll go ahead and give you another chance. Just make sure you read the rules throuroughly this time. free big nutty

Allow different languages to be used in the same sentence.

I would very much like this in the game. The only problem is I have NOOOOOOO idea whether its even possible in the code currently. If it Is possible however, I'd definitely see it as a plus, +1 -
[Accepted] Unban Request - Catluver11156
Roostercat replied to kwabek's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Since you have no history and I suppose this is an acceptable reason. Just make sure you abide by the believable character rules and so on so we don't have another problem, and make sure to pay attention to staff PMs so you don't wind up banned again. Also, apologies for this taking a while. I myself didn't see it. Accepted. -
I personally think having something to represent previous lore arcs would be great. It means they are still around and can be kinda nostalgic if its an old one you took part in. Maybe some kind of stand that can switch between projecting different items holographically could be nice.

atteria - Spriter Application
Roostercat replied to Agatasa's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I like all of these sprites, and I think a lot of the crate stuff up there looks really good too! Additionally - and more important for me - is that you state you want to make the environment more alive/ imply that you want to add the more smaller stuff, which I very much think is a good sign, as lord knows we love our clothing and knick knacks. +1 I will literally pay you to make better hairstyles for guys though someone please god holy fuck -
Staff Complaint - Roostercat12
Roostercat replied to Infernalistgamer's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
As far as I am aware, there wasn't any announcement or general consensus that the boarders were disguised as crew. Jurgi, sitting in the janitors office, saw someone dressed as a janitor with a janicart walk by and immediately called them out as an intruder. If they had asked around to see if they were a crewmember or at least did something else, I think it would be fine. But just immediately calling it out is metagaming to me. -

not going to post a defense or whatever until the proper format is up, but I believe the round ID for this was clE-aC4Y to put it out there -
I'm pretty sure Mel is one of the few people in this community that basically nobody dislikes due to her attitude and general likability. This compounds with her PHENOMENAL rp skills and of course, on top of all of that, her phenomenal work in keeping the best part of the server alive. The Space Whale. +1

Sleepers are still the only way to perform stomach pumps and dialysis and really are never used for chemical injections to begin with. They are used basically exclusively for those two things and have been this way for a long time. The same is to be said with cryotubes. The one niche with cryotubes is healing genetic damage, that is it. Nobody uses them for "critical patient chemical injection" or anything, like, ever outside of some fringe cases. On them outclassing every other peice of machinery, medical only has, like, four pieces. Two of them have specific niche uses, one is just a body scanner and the last, the OR table, is used for surgery which the stasis beds can no longer do.

I very much disagree with the line of thinking that we should be removing things in medical with the pure reason of making the department more difficult. It isn't the easiest to play as is, despite what some like to think, and making it more difficult will not make it any more interesting or fun to play, it will just make it all the more tedious. -1

Alright, I really should not have to say this, but here goes. I need to remind you all that this is supposed to be a discussion, not a place to vent your anger and straight up insult other players. I understand that you all have strong feelings about the topic and that you care deeply about the state of the server and where it is going, but you have to keep it civil so that it does not just derail the original thread like it already has. That being said, if you intend on bashing on other people for their opinions, do not post. I will be applying warnings to anyone that steps over the line from here on out. Disagreeing with someone and refuting their point/defending yours is fine, but insults and accusations are not going to fly. Be adults. If you don't know if what you are going to post is over the line, DM me and I will tell you.

Reduce the Chief Engineer's minimum qualifications
Roostercat replied to GeneralCamo's topic in Policy Suggestions
The CE is in charge of maintaining an engine that utilizes a super death crystal that could vaporize half the ship if it overloads, multiple weapons systems including a massive experimental energy cannon, and on top of that the entirety of the ship's other functions. Technically all of engineering has to do this, but the CE has the extra burden of having to know off the top of their head what makes these systems work, whereas engineers can ask question, usually asking the CE. I think all of that is worthy of a Doctorate requirement, personally. Plus, all the experimental stuff with the temperamental engines and the giga death laser can easily fit to the research role you mentioned. Going to have to -1 this one. -
Staff Complaint - Roostercat12
Roostercat replied to TrickingTrapster's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
For the first point, your flavor text involved claiming that your character was Top Heavy, and saying that their shirt looked too tight for it right after. We do not allow FTs that describe breast size, even vaguely, and have not for years. Just because nobody noticed for this long does not mean it is allowed. It breaks the rules, plain and simple. Below is the ticket logs for this. As for the warning applied for LOOC usage, this is the first message I initially talked to you about. This is just complaining about the verdict in LOOC, which is not allowed, as it is not what LOOC is for. After I told you not to do this, you continued to complain about me telling you not to complain in LOOC, in LOOC. You did not say you were asked to stop, you said this. This is the ticket logs for the LOOC case. You are being combative about it and generally rude. -

Staff Complaint - WickedCybs
Roostercat replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Right, having looked at your notes, this is not the first time you have been noted for misuse of LOOC. Thus what the original purpose of the ticket was is now irrelevant to me, as you are doing something that you know full well you shouldn't be, whether or not it can be considered spamming. Mostly saying this to dispel the talk I'm starting to see about the true purpose of the ticket/ what rule was broken. This is more a thing to make a suggestion about, since what Cybs noted you for is more along the lines of misusing OOC after being talked to about it in the past. I don't think I can say its unfair to note you over this since you've been talked to about it before and know what the expectation is. Overall, I do not see anything wrong with how Cybs handled this. It's something that has been brought up to you before and is something you are aware about expectation wise. I do agree that the rules on it should be clearer, but the kicker is that this isn't the first time. Unless I missed something, I am going to close this in 24 hours. -

Roostercat replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Hi. Apologies for taking so long to actually respond to this one. There is no excuse for it besides myself just being occupied and forgetting entirely. From what I can see, this whole deal is about overuse of LOOC. LOOC is primarily to be used for technical issues and questions, and from your examples as well as from some I have seen myself, you seem to like using it to make comments a lot. This in itself isn't usually bad, and is perfectly fine every once in a while. But you do it a LOT, which can and will start to disrupt roleplay. The best example I can think of this is whenever anyone has a meeting with most of the crew involved in a public place. If you've ever seen what LOOC turns into during stuff like that, then you probably know how it can be distracting. What you have done isn't quite on that level, but its still enough to be a distraction to those around you, and thus outside the bounds of what LOOC is for. That being said, what all was done administration wise, was this just you being told not to do it so much and thats it? I don't believe this is something that warrants an actual punishment, since to my knowledge this has not been brought up before now. -
[Denied] WrongKeyo360 - Antag Jobbanned Appeal
Roostercat replied to WrongKeyo360's topic in Unban Requests Archive
To be honest, this doesn't entirely convince me that you've changed. You didn't put the full reason for your ban, your appeal in itself is rather generic and doesn't tell me much of anything, and to my knowledge you have had very little playtime since your ban. With your note history, I don't feel comfortable unbanning you until I see improvement in game. Start playing more, and appeal in a month or so, then we'll see. Appeal Denied. -
it's not that I expect the worst of people, its that surgeons are there to do surgery, and physicians do general care. If you remove that boundary, now everyone does the same thing and people either have to butt in or get butted out. There's no lanes anymore.
-
Then there are four people fighting for it, same issue
-
This will just result in six slots fighting to do the same thing, or people going behind one another's back to take the patients.
-
Given gem's new PR, I am going to drop my opinion here. Removal of the surgeon is a bad idea for multiple reasons. For one thing, everyone in medical having the same job now is going to be a trainwreck. We used to have four surgeon slots, and it always ended up with two surgeons actually using the ORs and the other two not doing anything. You can say "well they can just do GTR work then" but if we do that then we just have the exact same setup as we do now with way less flavour. Two ORs, two people for surgery. Having surgeons and Physicians as being distinct offers a lot more character growth, as most players do think about this distinction when making their medical char. Just blending everything together makes it all samey and boring. Nobody has their special thing, with physicians being great at general care and surgeons being great at, well ,surgery. Saying this gets rid of the chart is not a very great argument either because the chart nowadays boils down to physicians not being allowed to do anything with organs. That's it. If people cannot understand that, they should not be playing medical. Overall this change just takes away and doesn't really do anything for the game but make medical into a moshpit of six people fighting for the same job. It's a bad idea. -1
