  1. Because this has gone several days without an update, let this serve as one. I'm going to speak with Skull directly about this, and probably Hunnewle, too, as they were the two staff members I know have probably spoken to you about this. I will edit this post with more gubbins when I'm finished. It will likely be tomorrow. Skull said that you were spoken to about logging out as warden even before the tempban was placed. This is true as the notes I posted a while above show. Hunnewle unfortunately does not remember the details of speaking to you but does remember speaking to you. I will give credit where credit is due, and say that Skull has noted that you did improve by going to cryo before logging out. The one issue is that both I and Serveris have noted, not officially however, that we see you logged out in the warden's office quite often.
  2. If you doubt you'll be able to make it through a round, you need to make it your responsibility to not play roles that make it more difficult for other people to take care of you, or other things, while you are gone. This means no single-slot roles, no command staff, and no idling in places no one can get you. Yes, shit happens. When shit happens on a regular basis, it becomes your responsibility to ensure that that shit is not made worse.
  3. What I'm mainly looking at is this one. Given, there are no notes similar to this up to today. This note, however, is only three months old and was a week long. These next notes are, indeed, from February, but I took them into consideration a degree, as well. What this tells me is that logging out as the warden is a consistent problem, and one that has taken place over the months. It is also extremely difficult, if not impossible, to tell when someone loses connection and when they have logged out. Even if we set the notes from February aside, we still have a week ban from warden not too long ago. I do have a small amount of doubt. That if you actually lost connection, this ban would be very unfair to you. The issue is this being a problem that has occurred in the not-so-long past. I'm going to think over it for a day or so, and discuss it with the rest of the modmins.
  4. Considering you've been playing on our server since February with no major notes or infractions, it's been decided to lift your ban. I suggest not leaving your byond, or any account, open while leaving your computer to prevent this in the future.
  5. Would you mind disclosing the last server you were permabanned from? The idea is some clarity as to the ban reason, and to confirm an appeal was submitted.
  6. No formatting this time because I'm lazy. -Hephaestus overhaul is basically done for real this time. Just a few more things to buff and sort out and we'll be good to go. Plans to release something at least mildly exciting that could lead to some interesting character development in the future, if all goes well. -Bishop Cybernetics is now a subsidiary of Zheng-hu Pharmaceuticals. This will likely be included in the Zheng-hu wiki page. -Xion Manufacturing Group is now a subsidiary of Hephaestus Industries. This will likely be included in the Hephaestus wiki page.
  7. I've looked over the logs and everyone's input and I've come to the conclusion that the ERT's behaviors and reactions towards everything is legitimate. Usually, aiming a weapon at an emergency responder is a bad idea, and one should fully expect to get their shit wrecked when doing so. As for the ERT's interaction with the CCIA, one must remember that ERT are people, too. A modicum of respect towards superior officers should be expected, but I see little reason to take action over one quick jab at a CCIA from an ERT after a heated moment. This complaint will be closed in 24 hours unless anyone else has anything else to add.
  8. Fully against this. People joining the round without actually joining the round, and saying "nah I'm staying aboard the Odin today!" will lead to more and more people doing it. The station will become a dead zone, with nothing happening but chair RP aboard central command. Along with that, and that I have more faith in the community than that, this just adds a convoluted step to entering the round that is unnecessary and flashy. Once the shuttle leaves, what about the late joins? Who flies the shuttle? Is everyone a shuttle pilot? If the arrivals shuttle is a one way trip, how do late joins get to the station without using cryogenics or the gateway? This is why I believe that magically spawning on the station is much easier, better for game play, and isn't even that hard to explain IC.

    EMP Nerf

As for the effect it has against synthetics, I disagree. It should disable, and destroy, synthetics with ease, because otherwise its only other use would be disabling energy weapons. What I do want, however, is for the environment to effect EMP like it does in real life. Everything, ever, will absorb an EMP depending on its makeup and thickness, because it's literally something something electricity and static science words. My point being, everything an EMP travels through reduces the strength of the EMP, more or less depending on what it traveled through. Steel walls should reduce its range a good deal for each wall traveled through. Reinforced walls, even more so. Things like glass and otherwise shouldn't reduce it that much.
  10. This is all fine and dandy (it's not, actually, no radios pliss), but this is not about allowing them to use their radio. It's about allowing them to move and see. Emergency power would also be extremely limited. I'm willing to gauge it anywhere between two minutes down to thirty seconds, maybe with some other modifiers like getting hit with an EMP while in the mode disables it completely, reducing the borg to begging for help over PDA.
  11. (it's a tad late, sorry) Finished -Hephaestus in its entirety. Just needs a bit of a complete proofread and we're golden. Next Project -Start work on stuff for Zheng-Hu. -Still need to find out wudd the fug Xion Manufacturing Group and Bishop Cybernetics is???
  12. Bay removed the ability for borgs to move while in emergency backup power. I propose to re-add that, while changing it to something else similar: emergency power to actuator (and maybe camera). It would allow for borgs to be able to move and see, but all of their other modules would be powerless. Just to elaborate on that a bit, that means no armor, no radio, no binary, and no tools or weapons. The emergency power to actuator (+ camera) would allow the borg to quickly get to a recharger. It would, however, have a time limit. Let's say, two or three minutes. After that, it goes back to a state where the actuator and camera are no longer functional and it has to sit there like a statue, begging for help through PDA messaging. And, maybe just as a thing, if the cell gets drained due to EMP, and it gets hit by another EMP while in this emergency movement mode, it would reduce the timer to zero again and disable it - back to statue mode for that borg. Thoughts?
  13. I'm still not very convinced. You don't need a radio to communicate, there were other officers obviously aware of the situation, and according to Serv, not even your only backup at the time (being the cyborg) knew exactly what you were even going to do, because you didn't tell them. I'm thinking you should just sit and wait out the rest of this ban and maybe consider designing a new method of approach for hostage situations. And, just as a minor side note, the hindsight approach of "it failed which makes it worse" and "it would have been [this] without [that]" isn't wholly applicable. Maybe from a personal point of view, but not an administrative one.
  14. All of the evidence I had pointed to your going rambo. The time between being aimed at, and attempting to stunglove another merc was very, very short. I had every reason to believe you attempted it while still being aimed at. Your only backup was also a borg, and you still chose to enter the room where you would be outnumbered. Instead of waiting by, not risking your life and well-being, for more backup to arrive, you went in with a plan to take them both on, alone. Whether or not it was successful is not the point; the point is, it was attempted. I will, however, note that you both died and injured the hostage even more by attempting a forceful takedown. I can't remember if they died or not, but I know they were definitely mortally wounded. Could I have been a little more specific on my ban reasoning? Probably. What you attempted was somewhere between a hasty and planned assault, and the specifics for such I've already stated. To make a long story short, I personally believed, and still believe, that you were playing hero. The note you previously got, as you've shown, supports this behavior. Two months is an amount of time to consider, which I did, but I concluded that it was not long enough to completely disregard. If I could observe, witness, and catch every single example of someone in security being shit and violating the standards set in place (mostly by Skull, who stated that shitty hostage situation behavior needs to be cracked down on) you can bet they'd probably get security bans, as well. As for your last question, I'm going to assume that is rhetorical unless you tell me otherwise.
  15. Because, regardless of the antag contest, there was a planned rebellion of sorts, orchestrated by both IPCs and organics, and was planned to be carried out by both IPCs and organics. The only thing that stopped it was the transfer to new code and the loss of the tags. This antag contest brings that back, and now with actual consequences for both sides. Oh, but now that they can "win" and "lose" officially, it's not okay and we're becoming a hugbox? It's not okay because now there's a real chance that the status quo will change? Are you really that convinced that nothing good will come of it, at all?
  16. Finished -Hephaestus Robotics division proofread and rewritten a bit, to clear up mistakes and make it look nicer. -Hephaestus IPC scandal proofread and rewritten a bit, to clear up mistakes and make it look nicer. Not So Finished but Pretty Finished Current Project(s) -Hephaestus history. -Maybe some Hephaestus line products? Starships, exosuits, robots, et cetera? Could be too much.
  17. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=92&t=3637 tl;dr I'm pretty sure they have no age requirement for any position, but like the Skrell, they are only allowed to exhibit so much knowledge at once due to rules. Aside from that, if an IPC says it's knowledgeable on a subject, it'd be required to take a test or go through a course or otherwise to prove it is proficient in that field and be hired.
  18. Finished -Hephaestus Research and Industrial divisions. -Hephaestus early experiment with AI. Not So Finished but Pretty Finished -Hephaestus Robotics division needs a bit of rewriting and proofreading. -IPC scandal needs a lot of rewriting and proofreading. Current/Future WIP -Finishing Hephaestus history. -Brainstorming ideas for Zheng-Hu Pharm. Interaction with NT+cloning? Prosthetics? Nanomachines? -Figuring out who the hell Bishop Cybernetics are and whether or not they should outclass Hephaestus/Zheng-Hu in prosthetics/cybernetics, or if they should even exist.
  19. Alright then. I do, however, wish to ask if this can be worn with head of staff permission, or something, while on duty? If not, I can agree to the current terms.
  20. That's perfectly fine. I do wonder, however, if exceptions could be made with IC formalities? Also, as an addition, I do understand how long the item is, but there was an application for an armored hide mantle, which isn't that much different and is also armored. Just curious as to how that can be worn on duty?
  21. A rapid pipe dispenser for the construction borg would be fantastic, tbh. Perhaps, with enough modifications, the construction borg can be kept if more tools are added to it? Could you list some more tools that could be added to it?
  22. Basically, the title. Combine the construction module with the engineering module. Currently, I believe the construction module is literally the most niche module out of all of them. Let's take a look at the tools they have available. Engineering Module Construction Module Pretty much, the only useful thing the construction borg has is the RCD and the plasteel. I see little reason to keep these two things separated from the engineering borg. If the argument that comes to your mind is "now the engineering borg can do everything," so can the research borg. The research borg can do robotics, RnD, and xenobiology. I think that's quite a powerful module, considering that with the robotics tools, alone, it can decell other borgs and bascally kill them. Considering I'm advocating for the merge of these two modules, which will result in a quite powerful borg, I won't suggest that the research module be separated. Thoughts?
  23. It shows you have enough knowledge about the rebellion on Adhomai, and care enough about it to actually add it as part of your character's backstory. It's a liiiittle cinematic, but I think it's fine. I wouldn't mind seeing you accepted as a Tajara.
  24. A worker class? In security? Violating the status quo? Who are you? No, really, though it's good. Serveris has an exceptional ability to roleplay well-rounded and believable characters. Make this man a bug.
  25. This sounds like a great idea. Give it the normal emagged lawset, but without the law zero telling it who its master is because the whole team should be its master.
