Ckey/BYOND Username: FreshRefreshments Position Being Applied For: Lore Deputy for Dionae Past Experiences/Knowledge: Experience and Knowledge stems only from the Dionae wiki page and Discord. Its not much, but thats what i’ve got. I don’t know how much more is expected, and i’m sorry if that simply isnt enough. Ive written plenty before, but they were never for a real reason other than an innate desire to write, and I never stuck with them long. Examples of Past Work: Only a tiny bit, and as far as I can tell controversial bit of lore from the Unathi page. I got a single mention in a Solarian news article, but I don’t think that counts. Otherwise, none relevant. What do you think about your creative/writing ability? I’m very creative in bursts. I get a spark, and I try my best to let it fuel a sudden fire to write, before simply losing interest. If I have someone else there to keep me on track, even to simply keep writing, I feel like i’m fairly creative. How is your ability to work with others?: In a more professional area, I feel i’m entirely capable of working with others. I think I take criticism decently. I don’t get a ton of criticism on my lore (because I have written a negligible fraction compared to others) so I don’t really know for sure. What is your philosophy about lore in general?: The more engaging lore is, the better in the end. That’s the problem Dionae have. Once you get past the creative and odd biological systems, there is nothing except a Dionae’s history to keep them interesting. Something more to give them more to talk to, to talk about is needed. What do you think you can do for the lore?: Ive got a couple ideas to jumpstart Dionae interest once more. Ive got an idea or two regarding Dionae biology that is left unexamined in game. And, I think I can add a little something to help Dionae draw interest, even to an outsider looking in. What do you like about the lore as it currently is?: The freedom. Part of the problem with Dionae is indeed that they're too distant, but I do like part of the freedom they have. They can come from all sorts of places, with all sorts of backstories because of how they're born. Its entertaining to listen to their stories, and how some of the freakier sounding ones get their names. Dionae are only limited to where a Dionae pod could get to, which i'm a big fan of. If you could change anything about the lore, what would it be?: Aut’akh, but here isnt a place to complain, and that isnt the lore i’m applying to write for. Dionae need to be more than just observers. They need to be participators. I understand the concept of Dionae has its reasons, but on Aurorastation, no one wants to be the listener. Everyone wants to be the talker. For a less general outlook, they need something to represent them. Not even a government, but a leader that makes actions in their name. Even just this allows more than "they're simple watchers". Additional Comments: I want to use this to better myself at focusing on tasks. I also wrote this all at 1 AM and then my internet went out, I went to sleep for an hour and it was back online, so here we are I guess, at 3 AM. The wonders of the internet. Ive also never written long term lore aside from once that didn't go great because I had zero interest in the server and I applied without realizing I wouldn't want to stick with it. But, I love Aurora despite how much I complain about it, and if i'd be writing lore here then I would be much more content with what i'm doing.

Staff Complaint - Pratepresident
FreshRefreshments replied to TheOrleans's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I know I wasn't actually in-round for this, so sorry about that, but no one else has seemed to bring this up yet. This is a complete lie, and you know it. You have a horrible attitude OOC. And a lot of people who have seen you can assure how rude you are. -
Its not OOC dislike. Its also very much IC dislike, although the universal disdain for Volvalaad is certainly present. I smashed a bottle over your head. OOC, this does very, very little damage. I dont even know if it does any. But it stuns. Thats all. You were up in a split second. You then tried to murder me. I fought back, you died of your injuries later. You stabbed a 6'8 Miner Guwan Unathi in the face with a bottle, what the fuck were you expecting to happen.
-
Yes. Im bringing it up now because I can better process my words and thoughts than in an ahelp. The "main incident" is Nick Volvalaad existing. Thats Suzuuls problem with him, and I presume thats Nick Volvalaads problem with Suzuul by now. If you don't want him to react in such a way to being stabbed in the face, don't act like not talking to him will just erase the interaction they've had. Nothing they've ever said to one another has been friendly, in the slightest. Nick acted a certain way around Suzuul, repeatedly, and Suzuul reacted in turn. Its amounted to this.
-
Suzuul busted a bottle over Nick's head, because he fucking hates Nick. Nick is a Dominian, Security, and has threatened to slice his throat open with a sword. All of these things, Suzuul hates. Nick responded by grabbing the broken bottle, and stabbing the absolute shit out of him. This caused everyone and their mother to run up and try to stop him. I guarantee, 90% of the damage was done by Suzuul mauling Volvalaad's face with his teeth. Suzuul was pulled away. I didn't touch you after that. Almost no one actually pulled real attacks on you, except me, and I had a valid reason to do so. Namely, you were stabbing the shit out of me, with a broken bottle. Its very ironic you say over and over we murdered you, and yet, you tried everything in your power to murder me.
-
Theres no point to get rid of both. It doesn't really hurt, to have both. Why replace one with the other when we can just, have two eyeglass items for Sec? Is it that awful?

Reporting Personnel: Suzuul Guwan Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Miner. Game ID: b1B-ddkl Personnel Involved: Suzuul Guwan - Victim Vira Bolivar - Offender Daniel Carmichael - Offender Adrien Major - Offender Klaus Eliade - Offender Charlie Medley - Witness Cooper - IAA on staff at the time, Witness Time of Incident: Real Time: Around 5:00 PM EST - 7:00 PM EST, 5/6/2019 Location of Incident: Station. Mining. Nature of Incident: [ x ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ x ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ x ] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: (General description of the incident, to include as much detail as is deemed necessary) I was working, when I was informed that "Project Peacekeeper" would be on station. I didn't know what that meant, neither did anyone else. I continued working, and then as I was leaving mining, I saw a Zo'ra Warform sitting in the Cargo Lobby. I was naturally afraid, because Warforms are capable of horrifying feats of damage and countless lost lives. I voiced my confusion that Central would allow this on board, and was told to shut my mouth. I continued to complain, through the shift, and was mocked that I could possibly be afraid of a Warform. I was told to come into Security, but I refused. Because I did not feel I was genuinely safe on station, while that Warform was there. My paranoia was proven to bear fruit, when the Warform lost control of itself and attacked a wall, and possibly injured workers. I say possibly because I find it was incredibly confusing figuring out who was hurt where, but I have doubts everyone got out just fine after that. I told them that because I was right, to be afraid for my safety, I should not be charged with failure to execute an order. All of Security said no. I tried to message Vira Bolivar and clear things up, but was largely ignored aside from, "no. You're under arrest." Vira told me I was to be arrested, for four things. Sedition, Failure to Execute an Order, Slander, and Misuse of Public Radio. I never commited Sedition, and she seemed to realize that as later she took it off of my warrant, without telling me. I'm sure she didn't want to say sorry. Failure to Execute an Order was within reason- I did not feel safe on station, so I did not come on station. Simple as that. Slander is simply wrong. The questions I made seem to make some of them think I was attacking them personally, when I was not. Misuse of Public Radio is the ONLY breach of regulation I commited, but she was vehement that I was to be arrested for three to four charges. All offenders were telling me blatantly that I was not to be afraid of the living tank that spits fire, and were proven wrong when it caused damage to the station. The only reason I did not lose my job is because Cooper was backing me up, for a fair view of the situation. Charlie Medley also saw what was happening, and offered to back me up. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Thea Reeves, HoP, Vira Bolivar, HoS, Cooper, IAA. Actions taken: Thea Reeves was completely uninvolved in the situation, as far as I can tell. She did not respond to me, and did not even refer to me the entire shift. despite trying to talk to her over our departmental communications. Vira Bolivar's actions are described above. Cooper was helpful in giving me a platform to stand on, and offered to give me immunity to being detained for the shuttle ride back. I was not arrested, thanks to him. Additional Notes: There was a Tajaran officer who belittled me for being afraid for my life. I cannot remember his name.

Full Departmental Uniform Overhaul & More
FreshRefreshments replied to AmoryBlaine's topic in Archive
And thats what it mostly comes down to, doesn't it? Personal preference. Something you want to change just because "I think it looks better", as opposed to what others think. Mining isn't even just a personal preference. Bold purple is there for a reason, to stand out among ash and rock. Just because you're the one spriting doesnt mean everything should take an illogical measure. The RIG should have purple, to match the rest of mining. Not the other way around. -
Full Departmental Uniform Overhaul & More
FreshRefreshments replied to AmoryBlaine's topic in Archive
Mining shouldn't have its purple removed. If anything its there for a bigger reason than other departments, who have them to easily see from a distance in the ash. Everything doesn't need to become muted and, as VT said, worse. Change isnt needed. They're fine the way they are. It just takes away a bit of life from the clothes. ESPECIALLY Mining, and MedSci, who have just little shoulder patches. Not a fan of this. Change can be good, but change for the worse, is not. -
I think this works, but basically isolated rather deeply in the wasteland. The circle also isnt her complete territory, as to my understanding that'd be a lot for a Wastelander Clan to have, but just where her people are located. Their partial-isolation is part of the reason they weren't messed with sooner, and how they kept a relatively low profile.

Type (Species/Company/History/Other): Unathi Clan, estimated to be a few thousand strong (2000-3000.) [/b] Relevant Dates: 2410: An Unathi by the name of Hasura Zkorazka works to set up territory for his own clan, on the inner circle of what would one day become a wasteland. 2437: Lord Zkorazka, hearing of impending war and being particularly self-confident, gathers an unnecessary amount of men to go to war, foolishly expecting it will be over soon with his assistance. Leaving one man to take his place, his most trusted friend, Kaosh Szek’hakh. 2439: Nukes are dropped. In one move, almost all of the men of the Zkorazka clan are killed off. The fallout reaches their home, leaving Kaosh, as well as many others, terminally ill. Kaosh, seeing many of the men of their village either too sick to lead, or too young, leaves the former Lord’s wife in charge, Lazak Szek’Hakh, under a title of Lady Regent. 2440-2460: With a lack of literal man-power, women must learn to take up more and more responsibility. Lady Regent Szek’hakh rules over her wounded clan, intending to lead only as long as its needed until a man can grow healthy enough. However, after ten years, no man had stepped up to take her place, despite there being plenty of age. Having grown up now in a matriarchy, the generation of men are to learning the roles their mothers were once used to, while women were taking up more and more roles they normally would not have, including as guards and doctors. Accustomed to allow Lady Regent Szek’Hakh to continue her rule, the men fall into a more matriarchal society. A reversal of how many clans operate. At first, it was a nearly forced role for the Lady Regent, but over time, she took to her position with a warmer attitude. Ten years is also the mark she first employs two female advisors, which by 2461 would have turned into a council of mothers, unofficial figureheads that would be nonetheless respected. Under her, her people manage to recuperate their losses, falling into a comfortable lull. Her first act that runs outside the realm of simply being in charge and instead taking a different path was having the library rewritten, to be up to date, and by mostly the literate women. Then, it was setting aside extra time to formally train guardswomen, for a proper defense. A generous, yet protective ruler, she becomes well-liked within her clan. They even take to calling her Queen, rather than Lady Regent, indicative of her more permanent rule. At first, she seemed a bit uncomfortable with such a lofty title, but as time went on, she seemed more and more comfortable being openly referred to as such. 2461: A hardcore Traditionalist, Hezaih Kaso, learns of this clans existence. Fearing that their radical hierarchy may spread to the rest of Moghes, he takes it upon himself to rid the planet of the Wastelander Queen. He infiltrates the city and, while Queen Szek’Hakh is regarding the clan and telling them how proud she is to lead them, takes a pistol from his shirt, aiming for just a second. In that second, a few people around Hezaih scream in panic, one bystander pulling back and crashing into him in the chaos. The crash causes his firearm to go off far away, causing the crowd to lose control of themselves. Now very much caught, Hezaih attempts to fire another shot, instead hitting a fleeing woman in the gut. By now, three guards manage to drop the would-be assassin, sending the gun skidding away. Queen Szek’Hakh herself comes down to meet the man, crowd slowly reforming a path for her. She speaks for a moment, in a hushed tone, before calling out to the crowd, “May the Spirits, Sk’akh, and any God listen. This land, is a matriarchy. Those who attempt to undermine it will be treated as terrorists. And those who act like rabid animals will be dealt with the same as rabid animals.” Hezaih Kaso was banished from their clans land and was later found dead, from two bullet wounds to the back of their head, alone in the wasteland with their pistol, missing four bullets. Their death is deemed a suicide, by Queen Szek’Hakh. Basic Description: A Matriarchal clan set in the Wasteland, led by Queen Szek’Hakh. After the Contact War’s nukes wiped out the vast majority of men, they adapted to using women as protectors, while using men to keep house. Long Description: The Clan of Szek’Hakh have recently made news of themselves after the banishment and subsequent death of Hezaih Kaso became public, along with Queen Szek’Hakh’s statement regarding their territory. What was intended to be a short term leadership led to a more permanent situation, after the foolhardy actions of the former clan leader killing most of the men and leaving almost all of the rest incapacitated and unfit for work. Women had to step up into the more man-driven roles of work, while teaching the growing men of the clan all they knew- all of this, being womanly work. These two differences are what led men to know the work of a typical woman, while women were taking the place of men-driven roles. This extends a bit to the usual build of their kind, as well; the women are more fit for their physical needs of guard and labor, while the men have less inherent muscle as their lines of work keep them from gaining it with time. In Clan Szek’Hakh’s territory, the dynamic and status quo of more traditional lands is reversed, in its entirety. Many guardswomen have even claimed to have a subconscious instinct of protectiveness for the men of the clans, due to experience keeping them safe while they grew up, and correlating men with something that needs to be kept safe, with how valuable they are. After the crisis of needing men passed, it was simply a built-in instinct many of the women who kept the young men safe kept with them. Contact Details (Discord Preferably): FreshRefreshments#2173 . [Accepted] Conspiir's Unathi Application
FreshRefreshments replied to Conspiir's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Conspiir to no end impresses me with how they take various character ideas. They're one of the better roleplayers we've got on server, and I would be happy to see them work with a Unathi whitelist. As for this particular character, it'd be enjoyable to see how traditional female Unathi working in the kitchen would react to a male taking up a notably "feminine" line of work, while still staying true to their morals. Can't give enough support, but I think a firm +1 will do just fine. -
[Accepted] Geeves' IPC Application
FreshRefreshments replied to geeves's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1. Ioraks is without a doubt Geeves' most famous character, and he's one of the most universally liked. Geeves, in general, has shown good RP before, and I trust him with an IPC whitelist. -
Best antag, Ripara Ribbaeum. God bless.
-
Interesting, which for creating RP is good, and already coded together. Plus, any Unathi would be curious about a "Mira Akhanzi", anyway. +1.

You've been here since I started, and you left an impression. Did a great job with your time as Headmin, and although we didnt really talk extensively in PMs, I still liked talking to you, whether it was on the main discord or the relay in OOC. Your only problem is that you never held me gently.

I find myself making foolish errors with formatting daily. Also, I removed the formatting of bolding and breaks, due to seeing another application where they did not work, due to the codebox. The actual questions remain the same. As for other hives, they view them the way C'thur perspective has; a neutral third party between the K'lax and the Zo'ra. They hold a small level of worry and distrust for hives that are not C'thur, as is natural with things that are different from the norm to them, though the society they find themselves in may lead to this distrust being unfounded, or backed up. Only time can tell. For non-Skrell xenos, things have gone about as well as they can outside of Glorashi. Ztak has done as best as they can to prevent blaming the species, and instead the individual, but Vaurca are not a universally liked species. Due to their relative acceptance in Jargon, Ztak inherently trusts Skrell, and Dionaea by their relation, more than other species, though by no means to the degree of Vaurca, C'thur especially. As for passive-aggressive comments, Ztak takes the advice of the Queen of Masques herself, even if they are not of her brood- show your best face to everyone you meet. As a medical member, they can only hope that their work in the field will help with their reputation.

BYOND Key: FreshRefreshments Character Names: Right now, Suzuul Guwan, Erin MacGregor, Jerome Keyes, Dead-Lift, and Olektirov Mazzkajari are the most relevant. Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): RGB 150, 180, 255, the color of Unbound of the Recondite Queen. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: As far as aliens go, Vaurca are pretty, for a lack of a better word, alien. They have had a lot of emphasis in the lore recently, and not without any reasoning. The Lii'dra and everything they have done has been a large changing factor in the lore, and how people react to Vaurca gives me interest. I enjoy playing a character that creates conflict, even if they are not an antag, and for many people, Vaurca simply being themselves does this. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mechanically, they have two types; Ka, workers, and Za, warriors. Warriors are more resistant to fire, Workers, to brute. All Vaurca breathe phoron and will die without it, and many of them have implants, including internal tanks. Theres the difference between Bound and Unbound, with Bound being an absolutely massive collection of lobotomized workers, while Unbound are the sentient upper segment. Bound Warriors simply arent allowed on station. Role play wise, they dont like bright lights as they have sensitive eyes meant to see in the dark caverns of Sedantis I, they have an ingrained, undying loyalty to their queens, and the Unbound often exploit the Bound. Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Ztak C'thur Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ka'Akaix'Ztak was born to the Reconditue Queen, Ta'Akaix'Mouv'lek'tanta C'thur, in the year 2456. Raised the same way any other Unbound Worker, being organically raised for six months before gaining a neural socket and, for another six months, learning all that it would need to to learn to benefit the hive once it was finished. As it entered VR for the first time, it set upon an interesting subject; death, and bodies. More specifically, how to fix, and prevent death as long as possible. Ztak showed interest in medical work, and set themselves to fixing bodies, over and over. Of, at first, Vaurca. Then Skrell, then Humans, then more and more. Eventually, the floors of their VR became caked in blood, though they still set themselves upon repairing, the damage to the bodies becoming more vivid, and more otlandish, and still, Ztak repaired them, no small part due to a subtle flat repair being made to many of them, perhaps without realizing it. As Ztak entered the real world and got into medical work on Glorashi, the realities of life hit them. They were not a world reknowned doctor who knew what they were doing, all the time, and always fixed whatever came in. Sometimes, during Ztak's required internship, then residency, they had to ask questions. But through the whole time they spent, not once did a very important aspect of them falter; a curiosity, and a desire to better themselves. Through this, Ztak learned. Ztak learned enough to become a fully fledged doctor on Glorashi, though even then, they still did not know everything. Ztak spent a couple years making a very local name for themselves as a doctor that at least wasnt going to let you die. More recently, Ztak is a part of Skrellian contract workers, for NanoTrasen, which has led them to their position; requiring to complete a residency on board the Aurora. What do you like about this character? Ztak will admit they dont know anything, but they will first admit that it isnt from a lack of trying. They want to be perfect, even if they are far from it. Their personality is something of unintentionally creepy; spending so long sticking up truly lifeless bodies is where much of Ztaks first experience came from, and injuries fascinate them, in a morbid way. But that is not to say they enjoy causing them, but rather learning to fix them. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8/10. Not perfect, but I do try to RP as much as I can, and I think other people enjoy interacting with my characters, one or the other. Notes: None.

I was indeed breaking my hand. After it broke, I was able to slip it out of the cuffs. Thats how I attacked you, the first time. Which, led to you draining me, twice, and then leaving me buckled unconscious to a chair, not doing anything about it once I was. You just left me knocked out. -

There is a reason the mechanic is in place. Its to prevent just flat out being stuck to a chair, like this. When you're a terrified assistant, and all you know is this guy can tell you what to do, on command, you do what you need to do to try to escape. You can fix a broken hand. You can't fix being dead. Again, the mechanic is specifically in place for a reason. -

FreshRefreshments replied to IAmCrystalClear's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Yes. I was stuck, handcuffed, due to your own decision. You cannot easily break out of a cuffs and chair, unless the other person is paying 0 attention. One of the mechanics, set in place to combat this, is chewing your hand, which can cause the cuffs to slip off. You cannot handcuff someone with one hand. There was nothing else I could do in the situation that did not end in me being thralled, or vamped.
