  1. Gonna make some revisions and edits soon, not quite satisfied with how this came out after taking another glance at it.
  2. BYOND key: Kryostro Character names: How long have you been playing on Aurora?: One year and a quarter, by now! Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Well! I like to play janitor and all, EMT and whatnot. Varying roles, but as I've branched off on other servers that don't have whitelists. I've decided to be risky and play things like IAA, aka NTI, or HOP. And to be frank, I very much enjoy these roles. They have real responsibility and are the gears in the machine. And I feel like I'd be able to bring at-least active role-play to NTI. Which is my planned whitelist. Why did you come to Aurora?: I used to play back SS13 in 2012, I was terrible. I was gonna play further in about 2016 but I forgot my CKEY and my old email got doinkered on so I abandoned all hope for a bit. Then I started playing SS13 as a whole a little in 2017 when I first started. Didn't get it, got a warn on Goon for saying the sweetest words. Then I stumbled upon Aurora, like a sort of pilgrimage. And I stuck to Aurora, had good roleplay and, yeah. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes, I'm ready to be a desk jockey of the sorts. Got Chain of Command in my head, Corporate Regulations. Paperwork, and the NanoTrasen page bookmarked. I got this all bookmarked so I don't get trashed if I don't remember something clearly. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I believe I've only had one ban? I know I only had one, which I remember was just being a bit of a meme a year ago, and cleaning whilst in the middle of a gunfight. Which of course, was poor conduct reflecting back on it. So it's a valid ban. I have other warns as well, a few of them being just for realistic character behavior when I was getting into the swing of things. And the other was for killing a vampire antagonist when they were handcuffed. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Got it. Give a definition of what you think role-play is, and should be about: Role-play is a large scale performance, people playing characters, their effects on the environments on them with their design, whether it big or small. The second aspect of role-play, is to accomplish & fill in roles, and playing those roles correctly. Having character designs, flaws and pros to a character to make them feel realistic, to make them real. To make them fit and be approved by the standards of the time and place they have grown and lived in. You play out a story, a story of your character interacting with other characters. Which can of course lead to many encounters and occurrences due to the unique perpetual role-play flow--, however, characters are not meant to be heroes or villains or to be kings or queens. Most of the time, they can and will be staying in their respective roles and behaviors, changing as their situations progress. TL;DR, role-play is playing a piece in a large puzzle, and those pieces inevitably come together to form the greater picture. I think role-play on Aurora and in general when it comes to HRP should always be about a always changing environment, with characters either as complex as they get or as simple as they come. Merely trying to navigate through their lives within commonsensical manners, to make cordial relationships or competing enemies. To progress as a person, to make others feel although these characters could be real themselves. Giving you a satisfying experience when you commit to a good roleplay experience after a round is a very nice feeling. It's accomplishing, too. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, in game?: Firstly, their function in their employments are to organize and oversee the operations they are appointed to. And to do this with a professional fashion, to be a good example of role-play while displaying leadership to create engrossing role-play for those around them. They are to lead the departments accordingly and help progress a round when they need to. They provide a good pace to those that are under their wing, issuing commands for either their safety or for their own gimmicks to further roleplay. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I believe those that have the whitelist have to exercise restraint with the power that they have with their whitelist. Heads of Command have exquisite positions of power, which if one Head of Command acts out of line regarding OOC rules, it could completely ruin a round or at-least make it a less then enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Hence, I think those that have whitelist is a very idolizing role to be in. People will look up at people in these positions and expect a high quality of roleplay, which should be the standard held to those within the mantle of command. People tend to join and look at the highest rankings with a good outlook and prestige, thus the people who carry a whitelist would be best suited to be those who are fully fledged in the community and or entrusted to have a critical position. I would positively without a doubt work adamantly to ensure that my behavior ICly is expected for the position. Despite the fact I'm more widely known for playing Castrato, I've played serious characters. And with Topaz being my prime example of my skills when I'm not playing a jester character, I hope that this shows to the community that I can put my money where my mouth is. I will uphold the expectation currently held for those playing in command positions, and try to excel beyond that to show new players alike as I was shown when I first joined. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Currnetly, the Tau Ceti Foreign Legion being organized and the recent scares from a year ago, from the Lii'dra hive, and the rise of dissidence within Biesel, of xenophobia and unrest in general. It worries both Alice and Jade, yet they both are worried to different degrees. Albeit, the recent times are more smoother and calm, there are nevertheless instability to the political scene of Tau Ceti. That with the security measures for those recalling from a year ago, the encroachment and onrush on Biesel by the Lii'dra. And the more ferocious struggles between ideologies. Such as ATLAS, and a new rising xenophobic political party, the Al-Wahdeh. Alice shrugs off the issue that's are laid in clear sight, she views it as a unimportant and minuscule issue. Out of her own ignorance, she is deciding to ignore the situations. A impossible thing to do nearly a year ago when the Lii'dra attacked, which, at the time, Alice was in employment at Sol, at the NSS Apus. The news was a shock to her, the sudden and brief attack upon Biesel. She mulled over the facts whilst she worked, yet it escaped her mind after a few days of the issues passing. Whilst the media was still blown up with interviews or videos of the event. A year later, she is designated to work in Tau Ceti, under reassignment request. Wanting to get closer to the heart of NanoTrasen, and work more effectively to garner a reputation for herself at its flagship station, or atleast it's second flagship. She now lives in Mendell, and widely ignores the issues going around her, due to arrogance, believing it's simply petty politics that'll die out quickly. She believes it'll pass, and she adamantly believes that NanoTrasen will prevail. Jade on the other hand, is concerned, being a suit, she believes it's just political turmoil and a rise of nationality. Which is irritating to her to have to deal with upon the NSS Aurora, from a business viewpoint, she cannot deny the fact that it's hurting to efficiency and personal safety to be in Biesel and working on the NSS Aurora. She is more aware of the facts then Alice is, still, a suit and arrogant in her own right. She does not deny the turbulent developments that have been coming from the past two years. She believes in the interests of NanoTrasen, and will change her opinion as the situations digress in details. Although she much more personally found the Board of Five a more suitable and comfortable way of politics, and their manner of grappling political and foreign crisis. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? NanoTrasen Liaison, I'll test the waters and make sure I do well. I'll observe during rounds and watch what the HoP on that shift will do to take their example. And then improve from there. I'll always strive to improve. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Alice Durnstine - NanoTrasen Liaison Jade Fairstint ( Might change the last name, I don't like it fully. ) - Head of Personnel How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Occasionally I slip up when it comes to what I personally think my character would behave, hence I'd say.. like, a seven out of ten? Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes, and whilst this application state goes on I will continue to look over the wiki for anything I miss. Aswell as observing people that are playing on the roles I seek to be in, aka HoP and NTI. Extra notes: This will be my first draft and application on Aurora! So please, give me comments or feedback. I'd also very much appreciate suggestions upon the two characters that I have suggested. I'm not entirely satisfied with their ideas, and I'd love for someone to give their ideas on the designs that I've presented.
  3. oh butter you mofo
  4. This seems like a pissing contest at this point, so I'm on the fence between giving a +1 or a -1. I'll check in later and see how it's going. If it's something worth noting, they've had negative experiences that are somewhat OOC fueled on the NT relay with DaTimeSmog, I can't remember exactly what on the top of my head.

  6. If you remove Janitor access, I will rein unholy fire upon these lands that have never been seen for hundreds of years. It's like Janitors having access to a building, if they repeatedly have to ask for access to go and clean in places that have dirt in them, it'll have a IC and OOC annoyance and inconvenience more then the inconvenience of the unlikely situation where Janitor see something bad. Blue man then bad. Other then the memes, it's not a good idea to remove general access. This thread was literally 'give paramedics access, why do janitors get more access then us' as a way of expressing how absurd it is. That doesn't mean remove general access for a job. The fact that you have to tell a janitor to leave is alright if they're obviously rubbernecking, but that you want to remove the issue entirely is absurd by just removing their capability of independently entering departments to clean on their freewill without having to be actually beckoned. @Soultheif96
  7. shane be like
  8. This still exists, hence bump. I want to know if there is anything wrong with his new design so I can fix it further.
  9. As other arguments suggest and hint towards, she is very inconsistent in my own opinion when it comes OOCly I feel to dealing with characters, and badly managing of Head of Security as a role due to the IC issues that the character has. I believe someone said +1 on their application only if they made a new character for the role. It's like me saying I'll make Shane Castralo a Head of Personnel. It just doesn't work. Shane Castralo, really bad history of doing really goofy stuff, and overall has a reputation for being a hooligan. NanoTrasen would most definitely not put them in control of the service department and absolutely not give them extensive access and the capability to have your own gun, (if I'm remembering what spawns in the HOP lockers correctly.) Lin has mental issues, yes? Not sure if my logic is correct but, if I were a corporation and I wanted to promote someone to Head of Security. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't put them in the role if they have had a serious medical history of dealing with issues then being put in charge of a security team on one of the most stressful corporations and most dangerous one when push comes to shove. Another issue, people have brought up in the past about the intentional naive behavior to actually go against validhunting. Which only further hurts the station and security when it comes to the eventual crescendo of a antagonist round. Intentionally ignoring someone is doing if it's able to be passed off as questionable. Despite the fact of it being the NSS Aurora where the flowers grow somewhat freely. You're a Head of Security and you have to make assumptions correctly instead of trying to brush it off as a meta move within your own judgement. But that may just be trailing off from the truth, what I'm saying. But if anything, I don't think Lin Dyslioth is a good candidate to make a Head of Security. And seeing some of these behaviors, the player probably needs to take a few steps back and hone their skills. Aside from the character complaint, OOCly I think they should especially step back when it comes to addressing other players complaints about them, this isn't just this thread that things like this has happen. Anything that is negative seems to be a invitation for hostility. Which in my eyes is very very very uncordial. If you really want to see me dig into all of the things I find wrong with it, go onto their command application.
My heart is crushed and my dad is ruined. Good round though.
  10. IMO Butterrobber isn't rude. Just someone that really won't things fly by him if they're targeted at him. But then again, also made some mistakes. Then again, some of us sort of fit into a role when we're shoved into it. So he might just be put in the mindset to realize if he fucks up or acts like a dickhead he's going to get removed from the staff team if he's placed into it. It's like that social experiment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment Not sure if this would apply, though. But just putting it out there.
  11. Rather passive aggressive for your own thread about spiriting, I digress. The server has alright sprites as it is, the only ones that are good in my opinion are medical and the rest are just.. ya, nah.
  12. Alright, I'm gonna write down on how the character has improved as of 5/5/2019 Shane Castralo is an idiot, and a melodramatic annoying immature kid who has to beat in order for him to mature to extents. The gimmick regarding the traitor on how he snapped and how he was a victim was around the time when I thought people wanted me to make him more HRP, thus now that I'm more connected to the idea of what I want Shane to be and realized that led him astray I added more aspects as to him literally running from anyone that is an antagonist or makes their point clear that they're at his workplace and trying to kill people. The time where I dragged the person that was in the middle of conflict dying toward the bar, was because they were in the hallway that had someone fighting in. I don't have picture perfect memory of that event, but I don't think I'd do that, you also got really upset in LOOC which is considerably unusual. This one really hit the mark for me to know that I may have fucked up the character, it took this feedback and an hiatus for me to realize this. So, he's not a screaming asshole, now he's fixed! I hope. To be fair, I've seen gimmicks that don't involve killing or stuff like that be frowned upon in the discord, so I tended to want people to feel involved mechanically and have their spotlight, what I always try to do in my gimmicks instead of just sitting with the captain and talking about how I'll kill him or, whatever people do with their gimmicks like that. But yes, I've actually done an tremendously good gimmick in my opinion not too long ago where Shane saw things from an mechanical POV instead of roleplay-wise, and I feel although people enjoyed it. And the crescendo was fair at the end, with good reason as to why he would arm himself after he was diagnosed to be crazy after being mistreated in the psych ward. The idea of running around in costumes with foam weapons is something I still consider he would do, but not every single shift in life. Maybe he might wear clown shoes and throw an egg at someone that wronged him early in the shift, which then gets him put in the brig for well, being an idiot. Personally, I struggle with balancing Shane still as of now, what would be acceptable in the rules but also be acceptable as to what he would do in the character design itself. People tend to OOCly dislike what he does but it's just the character, and of course it's going to have flaws because I don't enjoy an roleplay environment where no one is really bad in a sense. If he gets fired, he gets fired. I mean. Fire him? He's had canonical changes for the fact that they were either bad OOCly and I had to change them, or they just weren't relevant with the lore itself. Or people added charges onto his security record that were non-canon. He's an idiot.
  13. Alright boss, just gonna make this quick and snappy, Seeli and KingOfThePing are right, you as an person would be alright to play the command role. However, I personally find some issues ICly and OOCly. Here are the said issues I have with it. One thing would be OOCly, although this may or may not be something that roughly matters. But, your characters flavortext has very questionable aspects to it, which I personally have an issue with. But that does not stem forward to the rest of my response regarding why I will not recommend this character for an command position. I also genuinely do not like the response you gave to KingOfThePing, which seems extremely aggressive for someone that was simply saying that you should use another character for an whitelist. And using the excuse of there are others in command that are worse then me, so mine is fine. If I'm reading this correctly, isn't an excuse and actually makes it an worse thing to note upon. ICly, Lin is rather brash, and as Seeli said, and I quote. "--Lin Dyslioth has refused security officers protective gear and weaponry when they needed it. On many of these occasions, it resulted in harm or death to the officers and crew they were trying to protect. A few times, this was subverted by a HoS stepping in to point out the need for weaponry and that they had ordered the armament of the officers once already. Lin complied, so the officers were ok, but those orders were usually met with contempt by Lin." This also stems into an issue where you said during your initial wording for the whitelist. "--I also highly enjoy rping emotions. A lot of people I find are quite flat. I like to rp shock after experiencing heavily traumatic experiences. If my character is dealing with personal issues she may stray from her daily routine and in whole making her appear real. A lot of people disagree with this and don't like when my character drops her job and breaks down in tears after watching all of sec get wiped out by mercs but how can you say thats not what would really happen? We are playing people, not robots. A show of emotion really makes a scene more believable. I'm here to entertain some ghosts with A grade acting with spots of badassery when the time calls for it." I have nothing wrong with this, hell I play Shane Castralo, someone who is an absolute idiot and can't think for his mind, and he pisses his pants if he sees someone with a gun come after him. At the end of the day, he's still just an immature kid who thinks in the moment and not in the future. That's how he's designed. Now, let's put that in the context of your character, an character which has as stated before by previous other people, displayed incompetence in certain situations such as berating teammates and overall not expanding on moral of an highly intense and stressful situation. And aswell as the character having the unfortunate happening of anxiety, to where they can't cope and they can't deal with situations. And I for one wouldn't be happy if I was playing my security officer, which I won't name for the purposes of ermaghed metagrudging and saw the HOS crying in the corner after a few people in their department died. NanoTrasen is an cold company that only cares about money, they would promote someone that would have the point of view where they'd think they have their best interests in mind and ensuring security works to great extents to secure their interests. Fairly unlikely they would elect someone that would have anxiety and such like that, although I can't put my finger down if this was shown canonly or not with the situations that would probably prove that they wouldn't have this person elected as to have full control over security. But I'll digress and extend this further below for the aspect of not making this look sloppy. Her 'suicidal' and 'mental break downs' come from antag rounds. Which are not canon. When she does once and awhile show signs of her depression from lack of regular meds being taken or not having gotten to talk to some one for a long time they are mild. She is not as talkative, withdraw, but in the end she does her job. If you knew anything about my character you'd also know she is fiercely dedicated to NT and the law as well and no matter her 'mental state' she upholds it. Yes, NT would dismiss an HoS that would have depression that makes them have suicidal or mental break downs when they are in charge of an security department. At this point I believe personally that this stems less from IC to an OOC issue, and that it wouldn't be pleasant to be a captain and try to talk to your HoS to get your guards armed and they're crying about how the detective died from the cultists. With an loyalty implant, they probably wouldn't behave this way. Although personally I don't have any whitelists and for good reason, and people who have developed more on the lore could probably take something better out of this then I did. Anyway boss, I may or may not be wrong in some of my reasoning. But in short, I believe you really should use a different character if you get an command whitelist, or atleast clear up their behavior. I also like your flavortext and it encouraged me to write more about one of my EMT characters, albeit not the.. certain parts. But that's off-topic. I also tend to not really be good at writing up complaints, so make sure to point out anything that isn't correct in my complaint so I don't bite you down on something that was wrong. -1
  14. +1 Let them eat cake. Also an enjoyable part of my round to log in as an paramedic and see Qerrshbi, always fun to just have roleplay with them until some dude starts shooting up the bar or something.
  15. Gonna make some balance with an +1, since Crystal does tend to have interesting characters and very interesting antagonist rounds when they get things like-- changeling of the sort, or traitor. Thus, these experiences that vary to many degrees regarding how I've heard them happen or how I've seen them happen, I'd like to say it's worth the time to say this would be an +1. Your roleplay is good when I see it, and you only really get frustrated if someone pulls unethical tactics out from beneath their shoe. I'd spice this up with words and make myself look like a big fucking intellectual and that shit, but it really is what it is in short words.
  16. I hesitantly give you a +1, the reasons being that it seems quite strange from what I've seen of the character so far, but then again I support the idea of anything that is overall diverse into the server and encourages new play-styles and what have you.

  18. BYOND Key: Kryostro Total Ban Length: Permanently Banning staff member's Key: Coalf (?) Reason of Ban: Saying penises an unspecified amount of times, I forget how many times. Reason for Appeal: Personally, my two months so far ever since the ban was handed out, I've gotten my announcements from the personal terminal, or stumbled upon the server whilst an event was happening, and also the fact that the ooc-lobby was essentially my new general chat, which no one talked in after a round and I always loved talking after rounds in discord and seeing announcements, I even missed seeing Coalf get drunk on discord, which I will admit got me extremely distraught I couldn't witness such a historical event. If I get unbanned I'll simply spam ever again, which was the reason I was removed from the discord, due to spamming penises (the word), and ignoring when Coalf told me to stop so I could be basically a bitch about it. Anyhow, I simply want to be unbanned from the discord so that I can finally end my segregation period talk with my friends again on the discord, and see announcements and when rounds end.
  19. Good criticism so far, so I should be able to work out some kinks in the design. 5/5/2019 gonna start posting this again for others to see.
  20. Just wanted to see what people thought about my character, who is made with the concept of being stupid and having more cons then pros. So no, I'm not LRP.
  21. I like the idea, also it'd be a dog that isn't Ian or just straightout generic. +1
