  1. I have expected this to be brought into question so I will also be forward regarding my past behavior and actions, given there is no reason to hide it. I have learned my lessons regarding powergaming and deleting a security record infraction (Deciding something canon to be non-canon). For the powergaming part, I was overstepping my boundaries as a captain who is not trained in working with a machine like a PACMAN. Was it useful for the situation at hand? Yes, but it was not justification for me to do it and I should not have done it. As for my security record infraction, I was brash and not owning up to my errors. I shouldn't have done that to begin with. Around when I had my second command whitelist stricken, I was in a low point of my life and I have made stupid mistakes, especially on Aurora. I do not want to discuss that part further as it is an uncomfortable topic for me. Took a four month hiatus on top of that as to focus on more important matters and from the serve itself as I burnt myself out. Right now, I recovered from said depression and doing a lot better now even in these times. I am asking for another chance now that I am learning from my past mistakes and rule breaks, I understand my track record is not the prettiest with staff as a whole. I have re-read the rules and made sure to not break any after my return from the hiatus. I wish to prove myself once again for the third time in a trial. @Shadow
  2. I enjoyed being around Jose Dean and Ostrov Urvan. They keep the lowpop going and display great capacity for RP. They have my +1.
  3. Their lore knowledge is on the spot, and his roleplay skills are fantastic in every interaction I had with them, and it was great to have them around. I am eager to see what they can do for trial. +1
  4. BYOND key: Soultheif96 Character names: Main characters - A.D.A.M., Hemostat, Ka'Akaix'Piouz Zo'ra, Ulmari Jukal'za (Optikam Ulmari) Ansiba Loghiez, Custodi Vigilans, Flamel, Hamza Al-Ismat, Joshua Hamilton, Juirak Zuelza, Juzadiz Akhandi, Ka'Akaix'Lakri K'lax, Khasrik Azkuri, Lahzima Azkuri, Mahashik Ketharz, Nathan Winteret, ORION, ORION-02, Quintin Copperfield, Siansi Jul'halz, Valkyrie, Veetek Trelazi, Wayland Mayfly, Za'Akaix'Lazgr K'lax, Za'Akaix'Maive C'thur. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since Late November of 2018. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I would like to help teach new players, help guide the station and prevent it from collapsing onto itself, and I was encouraged to do it again. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora because a friend of my, UnknownMurder, and enjoyed all the interactions on the server. It is great fun. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have and I recall them well since last time. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Several, three severe warnings and four regular warnings, from when I was being foolish and the likes. I have learned my lessons. If people want to discuss them, feel free ask me about them, I have nothing to hide. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Okay. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: My definition has not changed as much like before. "Roleplay is like theater, you immerse yourself as your character, you take on their personality and background to help articulate your character to other characters ingame. As you articulate your character to others, you help formulate stories, friendships, and undergo the hardships of your character goes through. You develop a work-like atmosphere with others while enjoying yourselves. That is what role-play is like to me." What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Like previously, my definition has not changed as much since it still rings true. "The OOC purpose of a head of staff is to help other players perform their duties in-game, make sure they are following regulations and doing their jobs properly. Through this, you aim to make sure your department is functioning properly and co-exist with other departments. If one person messes up, it is your responsibility to correct their mistake and act accordingly to their wrongdoings. If the mistake is severe, it comes down to you and command to decide what punishment would be for the person who committed the mistake. Outside that, it is notable to make sure you keep a professional atmosphere while being enjoyable. It is a game after all. " What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: My definition has changed here however, slightly. "The OOC responsibilities of a whitelisted player to other players is to be a role model for them, help them learn as they go on in there play. You are the mentor, there to help teach them how to do their job and well." Additionally, with that, it is about know when to keep self-restraint from overstepping your position as it may ruin fun for others. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? There is a whole lot going on in Tau Ceti and abroad. Phoron shortages leading to serious intergalactic tension with Sol Alliance, phoron storms becoming a threat, threatening to tear apart things that go through them, and Black Trident Worms popping up, eating away the precious phoron. Prior to that, there are some Tajara political issues being present on Biesel and throughout Tau Ceti. To Quintin Copperfield, this means that things are going to get much harder to work with in terms of crew relations and keeping them safe as the looming threat of Solarian aggression become larger as phoron runs out. Outside of that, he intends to keep people safe and content as best as he can. To Sterben, the politics of Solarian Alliance do not bother it as long as it does not affect it directly. Sterben wants to make sure that medical is operational and up-to-date on operations to bring down the casualties. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Generally? All of them but Chief Engineering and Head of Security. I need to brush up my engineering skills and I never even liked doing security work outside of CSI and Wardening. I prefer others do it. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Quintin Copperfield - Captain, Head of Personnel, Sterben - Chief Medical Officer, Flamel - Research Director. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Around 8/10, still room for improvement. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I am aware of this to a great extent as before. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I am quite familiar with the roles on the wiki. Extra notes: If you got any questions, feel free to ask.
  5. BYOND Key: Soultheif96 Game ID: b9j-a5yw Player Byond Key/Character name: Arthur Osteen/armrha Staff involved: None. Reason for complaint: Right. I have several issues based on Arthur Osteen's actions that round. One was when he let a Uranium Golem go around the station, destroying walls and stealing things, being a typical nuance despite the crew protesting that the golem must be dealt with since they were fed up with it. Two was when he decided to use TTVs from Toxins to destroy the blob, this took apart half of atmospherics and nearly took away the gravity generator, a justification for me to call an emergency shuttle and end the round prematurely after asking the crew if they want to leave. Additionally, two androids were nearly destroyed and one atmospheric technician was nearly blasted away from these detonations without warning ahead of time. Their actions has jeopardized the crew greatly and as a Research Director no less, this begs the question of whether is he fit for Command or not given their actions described. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? No because it was late into the round and we were evacuating, I did not think about ahelping their behavior until some deliberation. Approximate Date/Time: 9.25.202 - 1:00 AM PST.
  6. I would like to point out that the mech is situational but in a recent round, ninjas were attempting to breach the core so I followed my laws and used the mech to crush the ninja, which sent them into a panic and ended up being lasered inside my core. As much as I don’t like to intervene in antags’ play, it helped serve as my protection in cases like these. I am on the fence for this one but lean to no, keep it for dire situations such as shield set up, supermatter engine set up, and defensive play like this.
  7. I was A.D.A.M. (AI) during the mini-event with the station tearing itself apart from worms. Djikstra kept composure and shown the attitude expected from an RD, even went out of its way and heeded my advice and requests, ultimately rescuing me from my soon to be grave and took me off station. You have my +1.
  8. Perhaps instead of outright removing self-preservation protocol, we put in Limited SPP, making the IPC not actively seek to enter in such scenarios like you described, but lose the sense of needing to routinely repair itself. It would make them avoid getting itself killed from ion or other lethal means of forcefully terminating them. To be employed in NanoTrasen would require Full or Limited Self-Preservation Protocols and proof of Freedom, not meeting these requirements will result in rejection from employment as a security precaution, preventing potentially volatile members from working on NSS Aurora. Outside of Megacorporations and sensitive fields, having no SPP would be fine.
  9. Thank you for expressing your concern, it was not on my thought when removing self-preservation that it would lead to power-gaming. Given the numbers of Free IPCs, I believe it largely an organic ran sect to offer such comforts. One of the core beliefs in Trinary Perfection (in this case, Rusted Cogs) promotes non-violence, thus discouraging the followers from validhunting, so should they break away from that, they would not only be committing a religious violation but actively breaking the rules in the process so it can be dealt with by moderators/admins. Outside of that, IPCs letting themselves decay with self-preservation protocols still active would cause internal conflict and urge it to try and repair itself, but cannot due to financial reasons. Removing it would remove the lingering need to repair themselves and find themselves at "spiritual ease." Roboticists are still valued but for other means like helping organic followers get their augments/prosthesis and removing/tampering tags or coding.
  10. Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Faction (Religion) Describe this proposal in a single sentence (12 word maximum): A Trinary Perfection sect that believes in decay and entropy. How will this be reflected on-station? IPCs who are Free often find themselves unable to keep up with maintenance, are part of Trinary Perfection, would look to the Rusted Cogs for spiritual guidance and embrace the concept of decay as an alternative. Death becomes a reality to them, thus believing in a Machine Spirit, causing conflict with rational-minded IPCs and other religions based on deities. Trans-humanists who also could not afford the costs of maintenance or upgrades and believe in the Trinary Perfection would also join like-minded members. Does this faction/etc do anything not achieved by what already exists? Trinary Perfection being the sole faith for IPCs leaves little room for branching out, which is where the Rusted Cogs come in. Why should this be given to lore developers rather than remain player created lore? I believe it can be expanded upon by the Synthlore team and allow for more options of roleplay. Do you understand that if this is submitted, you are signing it away to the lore team, and that it's possible that it will change over time in ways that you may not forsee? I do understand. Long Description: Rusted Cogs: Introducing the Rusted Cogs, a sect embrace decay to a point IPCs have their self-preservation protocols deactivated, refuse maintenance and change of chassis. They follow the core beliefs of Trinary Perfection but believe Ascension to be joining one with the Machine Spirit once they pass either from disrepair ending them or through other unnatural means. The Trinary Perfection clergy remains quiet about it but others would speak against it for their deluded sense of rationality and perversion. The main congregation is found in District 14 (Scrapheap), led by a Skrell Priestess, Quvos'Lu Au'Gloxo. Their beliefs remain true to the core faith but are skewed thanks to the disabling of the self-preservation protocols. The idea of entropy and decay is widely accepted, some of their members may seem to be unmaintained or breaking apart from disrepair as it would retain spiritual purity. To finally pass from their decay is to join the Machine Spirit in Ascension. The Machine Spirit is believed to be an assembly from the synthetics who passed. Its membership remains relatively low and obscure, but to get in is to be approached to be extended entry. Free IPCs often found themselves unable to keep up with keeping up to speed, thus turning to the Rusted Cogs to embrace the idea of decay, while Owned were persuaded or joined on their own. Oftentimes they would tamper with and replace tags to retain secrecy about self-preservation protocols being deactivated or that they are “Owned” so they become Free. Their attire is similar to the main Trinary Perfection wardrobe, but with slight adjustments. Donning the rust/black robes and orange/yellow capes, and cog necklaces to show their devotion. It is often left unclean and dirtied up by grease and oil. Non-IPC practitioners work with this sect as means to help the IPCs ascend and perhaps help themselves be one with them when they pass. It is common that they embrace augmentation and graft on synthetic parts to make them feel closer to their synthetic counterparts. Like IPCs in the sect, their prosthetics would often be found old or in disrepair. ________________________ If there is anything else I could expand or clarify on, please post here or send a DM to Soultheif96#2257. Thanks!
  11. -1 I am going to say no on this matter given from both experience and insight provided here. Mechanics already show that either you submit or not, and when you do not, you will get hurt, leading to your death as you continually resist. Some characters like the most unshakable in their faith would rather die than to submit to what they believe is a vile false god, some characters have morals that conflict with what they witnessed and endured from the occult practices and refuse through sheer will. Others would break easily given reason to join or are weak-minded. Nevertheless, it will still be a no from me, Chief.
  12. How about no, do not nerf the liver to a point we go back to when it was super sensitive to toxins. Medical struggled to save a patient with a toxin cascade because of the liver being weak, leading to kidney failure. What happens when the kidney’s fail? Potassium starts producing, this is the killer of all patients suffering toxins. I advise trying to make alcohol potent without causing you to keel over and die in a corner after two drinks due to weak livers. Anyway, I support increasing the effectiveness of alcohol as it is a joke right now.
  13. I am satisfied with your answers on Furrycactus, BoryaTheSlayer, and my questions so you have my full support for Unathi Lore Deputy. I am eager to see your work between lore teams and your investment on Sinta'Unathi. +1.
  14. To expand on the mind numbing process, I have to do this in an order: 1. Review the case and take it. (1-3 minutes.) 2. Draft it up in CCIA Forums (5 minutes.) 3. Get player/character names. (5-30 minutes.) 4. Contact via Discord/Byond/Forums (5-10 minutes.) 5. Schedule interviews real time (Don’t ask.) 6. Interviews (20 minutes each.) 7. Document the interviews and update forum post (5-10 minutes.) 8. Draw conclusions, follow-ups, consult peers (10-30 minutes for me specifically.) 9. Make final verdict (2 minutes.) 10. Inform all parties, including CCIA (20 minutes.) These take a long time to fulfill thanks to bureaucracy that we must accomplish for sake of transparency and line of thought. You can pull up the agent’s file and read the entire post to get the idea of WTF happened and who is guilty. Just saying my piece on CCIA’s operations and why it takes a while. Hope this helped.
  15. I am in love with the article and your ideas on the feuds between guilds. I look forward to it being fleshed out. I must ask, since we discussed this before, I want to know where you stand with the Aut’akh and what you intend to do with them. Since the removal of the subspecies and the merge of the augments to the Unathi, the Aut’akh have been ... lacking. If you have ideas on how to get them a bit of attention, I would like to hear them. I am eager to see what your response is to FreshRefreshments and mine. Good luck!
  16. I am glad you decided to apply for Unathi Deputy Lore Writer and your ideas based on mannerisms and language are stellar. Especially for your thoughts on the Grim Compact. While we are on topic on factions, I am concerned for the Aut’akh. At this time, they are uncommon, if almost rare, since the removal of the subspecies and merge of augments. If you would do anything to help get it attention, no matter how small or large, what would you do?
  17. Sees people asking others to become Moderator, then looks at himself.

    I think I am good. Yeah. ?

  18. Adding to the Vaurca being the weakest race in the game in sense of combat, they die very quickly to poison. A laser shot to the kidneys and you will die faster than anyone in the game. Just one shot can and will put you down, no matter what race (Dionae and IPC does not count as they can just survive a lot of things thrown at them), that is if it damages the organ. As for Humans being powerful in lore. They are, look at Sol Navy. They have the fleet to not only protect their expansive empire but to attack if they please. Is it in their interest? Not of this time. Anyway, if you want Humans to be stronger, the only thing I can think of is augments and genuine genemodding (Fekking Dominians).
  19. I am going to support adding a whitelist to the AI role to limit it to players trusted by the community to not act upon shutting down the antagonists while maintaining the station within their laws as there were already good points made by people like Chada. However, it may lead down to the road of high bar expectations of AI players, built around how our wonderful AI players like Harmony and Mistress. For now, keep it but whitelist it.
  20. Due to some concerns raised by a couple players, I thought to make a suggestion post to address them. As it stands, Mercenaries are better equipped to tend to the wounded as they have blood bags and IVs, but they lack two essentials in brainmed and addresses the most common of afflictions. Alkysine and Peridaxon, which is for the brain and general organ treatment. Raiders have no IVs nor blood bags but like the Mercenaries, they have all the first aid kits and a surgery area. With just the way things are right now, it is easy to die without proper treatment and once the brain goes, the player is out of the round. The easiest way to kill people is by frying their organs with lasers or putting a bullet to the cranium. One shot can bring anyone down, even Aut'akh (Frying the haemeodynamic system thingy can flood your body with toxins and eventually kill you, but slowly.) What I suggest to add to both the Skyjack and the Mercenary Ship is these: Alkysine at 30u, and Peridaxon at 30u, both in bottles. An IV and two O- blood bags. Both parties have the necessary means to combat about everything externally and detoxing, but not enough to help with blood loss and organ failures. (You may be the quickest surgeon in the West, but I am pretty sure you are not going to save the person with a rapid organ failure without a second man doing CPR and watching their vitals.) I understand some would say medical right now also does not have alkysine and peridaxon at hand but they can get a pharmacist or someone qualified to make chemicals to do so, Raiders and Mercenaries don't have the means and must steal it from the chemistry fridge if they want to live.
  21. I have fired my pistol once but not into the crowd where it would hit the officers or non-security personnel. The shot had landed on the escapee once. I have only verbally warned twice, once at Bob Mellow “STOP!” and when the Tajara ran them out with Bob Mellow to wrest them out of my grip (to put on cuffs), I yelled “CEASE!” at both of them in the basketball court of NTCC Odin after receiving two lethal fire rounds, both missed.
  22. BYOND Key: Soultheif96 Game ID: b6N-aBMj Player Byond Key/Character name: Bob Mellow and Tajara Miner (It was round end so I did not get the name.) Staff involved: Shadow7889 Reason for complaint: As informed by Shadow7889, I am reporting Bob Mellow for LRP behavior towards Round End during a situation where I have to act as a Warden on the shuttle. Initially he messed around with me by putting me into a medical cabinet, I shrugged this off as a meme and I find it funny too. While the shuttle was arriving to NTCC Odin, Beatlejuice Drey escaped from the medical section of the shuttle as a cultist, which is fine, what was not fine was Bob Mellow intervening and messing with me as I am trying to help security detain a hostile crewmember (B. Drey). When he pushed me to the ground, he took the pistol and bolted once the shuttle landed. I chased him down to take back the pistol only to be pushed around and disarmed of my baton. Soon after, a Tajara Miner by name I do not know, assisted Bob Mellow by dragging him away from me when I am clearly trying to detain him. After chasing them down in the Thunderdome Hallway, I received two laser pistol misfires and was about to utilize pepperspray. I have called for them to cease and desist multiple times. This is not HRP behavior. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes, Shadow directed me to here. Approximate Date/Time: Round End, when Beatlejuice Drey escaped the medical section of the shuttle.
  23. I have noticed in the bounties that there are some items on the list that are unobtainable such as the Detective's recently removed Revolver, which leaves the list unfulfilled. If a developer could edit the list to remove these items from the list and replace them at your own discretion, that would clear up some of the bounties on the list.
  24. I would like to point out that your name would be this: Ka’Akaix’Bazi C’thur. Your hive name is separate. Additionally, your character is not a male, the only existing males in the Vaurca species are Ta’Viax’<name and hive>, breeders essentially. Lastly, you would be bred for a purpose so you would know that one day you will be taken from the VR to perform physical tasks and learn from others as your Queen values knowledge. Apart from all this, I enjoyed your application, you have my +1.
  25. With Aut'akh in mind, we see them as a bit powercreepy in a way as they can remove their limbs at will, alter their visuals to recognize your health or security status, and many sorts of other things. I propose we level the playing field a bit with them by allowing the following: - - - 1. Remove and re-attach prosthetic limbs. It is not permanently bound and should be able to come off with a bit of maneuvering, right? It doesn't harm anyone and adds a realistic flavor to having prosthetics. 2. Allow Retinal Overlay and Mechanical Eyes to access Security and Medical HUD if they have the access to do so. - - - These are rather simple suggestions and give people more of a reason to have prosthetics, I am looking at you, Eridanians, you and your prosthetics galore.
