  2. I'm sorry, Skull. You're completely and utterly full of shit, as is Garnascus for thinking this to be 'valid'. What overarching RP, Skull? What literal overarching RP? We died, Medical cloned us within ten minutes and not too long after that we hoarded them about and shoved them into prison when it was made painfully obvious they were the only ones who could have killed us, anyway. They interacted with no one else. There was no grand plan, no advanced roleplay. It's the same fucking shit every god damn Changeling ever does when they get arrested because we can't valid them since they regenerate. Sit there, bucklecuffed, entirely disregarding any roleplay or pain and spam hallucinogen stings or voice transformation. In this case, that's exactly what happened. They didn't do a single fucking interesting or unique thing. It is the same shit from every Changeling round. Research wasn't involved. Medical was only barely involved. There was no in-depth scenarios created by this. It was just them being chucklefucks and murderboning because they could. And don't you dare pin this on security. I'm sorry for actually trying to include people in roleplay, unlike some people. But I forgot in my absence from Aurora we've devolved into Goonstation-tier roleplay standards, so I don't know what I expected. In the future, Garnascus, I'll make sure to treat everyone as if they're an antag and shove them out of any roleplay and scene because they'll valid me sooner or later. Thank you for clearing this entire situation up for me. I know my folly was expecting sporting behavior from my fellow players; instead, I must assume they're all TG-reject mongoloids and treat them as such. I've seen the error of my ways. Edit: I'd also like to point out the lings were going to space-cleaner up all the blood, disabled our sensors purposely and were going to stuff us in some fuck-off closet so we'd never be found.
  3. I have mostly myself to blame for this; I entirely forgot the double-edged sword of everyone and their mother whinging when security kills people without roleplay, but when antags do it its valid and fun. This was moreso my fault than anyone else's - in my time away playing an actual heavy roleplay game, I forgot the core mechanics of SS13 - assume everyone is awful and out to kill you at the first chance they get. Had I remembered the age-old adage I lived by I would have called the sec borg or something. Since administration isn't interested in enforcing the quality of roleplay, then I have to ensure the safety of my own enjoyment. To answer your question, Skull, I would have preferred they not target me at all because there was no reason to outside of 'lel murder'; there was no chance they'd be discovered via forensics, and there was no chance anything would come to fruition other than an engineer being the suspect, presumably. I don't entirely blame these players, of course. I mean, they were bad and terrible antagonists, but Changeling in of itself is a mode not intended for heavy roleplay because it is entirely centered around ganking as many people wordlessly as you can. But like nuclear it will continue to be around and drag everything down, so whoops.
  4. I walked into the room and then immediately started getting stabbed in the face without so much as a word or recognition. Antagonists are here to make the round enjoyable. They didn't. They killed me for literally no reason, without any interaction beyond 'here's where we found the body' *repeated stabbing in the face* It was absolute shit, and the lack of culpability for being terrible antags is part of the reason I stopped playing on Aurora. Take that as you will.
  5. Your application focuses entirely on the mechanics of the race, and not their history. Please re-answer your questions. Bonus openhanded damage doesn't make roleplaying Tajaran different.
  6. Self-defense is justifiable homicide and you cannot be charged with a crime if your self-defense is found valid. I never arrest people who kill someone coming at them with lethal intent because that doesn't make any fucking sense. If a dude is shooting at me with a gun I'm going to blow his head off, even if I have the means to take him down non-lethally. I mean, cops don't pull their tasers out when getting shot at by gangbangers.
  7. I don't know if I want to approve this. Is this going to be another joke character, or are you actually going to make an attempt to play them semi-seriously?
  8. who
  9. How can you be discrete when you're jamming a pen into the sockets in someone's hardsuit. Instead, why don't we do the common sense route and have the parapen be ineffective against any armored body part? The fact you can get stabbed through riot armor and armored space suits is entirely ridiculous.
  10. heavy roleplay gratuitous chuckling ensues
  11. Just one condition - even though the capital was super advanced, at the time of the war, most outlying Tajaran villages weren't like some African tribal place; compare it moreso to Leningrad or Moscow to tiny little Russian towns. Less tribe, more technologically isolated angry Russian farmers.
  12. 60 year old cat is equivalent to 80 year old human, but I cba to do the exact math.
  13. I coded the body color thingy. Alien sprites are black like hair at its default because white will not look good. Believe me. I tried. If you wanna walk around looking like a glowstick, we can use white. Otherwise, just use dark colors for your skin. Also Skrell weren't made color neutral because their eyes are black and part of their base sprite.
  14. Most Tajaran are around 150~190 pounds, or more, depending on factors like body fat and amount of fur. They've got a lot of blubber to insulate themselves.
  15. Two wrongs don't make a right. The development team refuses to remove modes like Nuke and Wizard; it's not justification to act like a twit.
  16. I literally cannot fathom why you people are defending the chucklefuck duo when I've been calling to get them slapped for a long time now. If you want lighthearted IC shenanigans, go to a light roleplay server. Space Station 13 is already shallow enough as it is; if you want Aurora to purport itself as a heavy roleplay server, then it's expected our staff enforce this vision for it. Seeing nuke ops with ID cards that say 'dank agent' and saying things like 'OMG THE SYNDIKATES' over the radio (which is against the rules, I'm pretty sure???) is immersion breaking and ends with people only expecting low-rp bullshit which seems to be plaguing the server recently. I'm with Sierra. You admins need to do something about this shit for once and stop sitting on your hands, walking on glass. Start fucking dealing with people who do this shit or take off the heavy roleplay tag so people don't expect more and are free to leave to avoid going down with the ship. Also, that thunderdome was absolutely fucking retarded, and Canon should be ashasmed, IMO. The people involved should have been reprimanded.

  18. Reporting Personnel: Ana Roh'hi'tin Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer L2 Personnel Involved: James Blair, Captain; Shinjlek Ukhaan, Research Director; Aldabert Von Krieger, Security Officer; Edgar Stone, Nursing Intern; Aquila, Assistant; Cash Hanington, Quartermaster; Kazimir Ruslan, Assistant; Azeazekal Karnaikai, Assistant; Dante Miller, Librarian Time of Incident: Real time: 10:00~ or so PM Central Time Location of Incident: Vacant Office Nature of Incident: [x]Workplace Hazard [x]Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [x]Neglect of Duty []Harassment [x]Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident: Azeazekal apparently petitioned the captain, James Blair, for approval for the construction of a thunderdome on station. It was built in the vacant office sometime while she was struck with SSD. There, an illegal fightclub illegally approved by a captain overstepping his authority was conducted, resulting in the death of one crewman (Kazimir) and the scrapping/decapitation of an IPC, Aquila. The research director was the one who fought and killed Kazimir; Dante Miller, Aquila's opponent, killed her after sustaining grievous wounds. This fight club employed the usage of improvised weapons. Spears constructed of glass and metal rods were used and encouraged not only by the idiot command staff you saw fit to hire, but by security, who merely sat by and watched - even participated, in the case of Aldabert von Krieger. In essence, an illegal club approved by your captain when he had no business doing so resulted in not only the death of one crewmen, but two, and wasted resources cloning the deceased, rebuilding Aquila, and patching all the wounds inflicted in the fighting. Two individuals died on your station. Messa help you if you fail to do something about this; it is a testament to not only incompetency and failure on part of your command staff and your security team, but proof that individuals such as Azeazekal should be fired because they are a danger to their co-workers. Even at the end of the shift, he and Adalbert were screaming and screeching about 'praise thunderdome' and how they wanted to re-start it and throw in people they disliked to fight to the death. Do something for once. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: No, because the captain allowed it and was asleep, and the IAA was swamped. Additional notes:
  19. When the skill system was first implemented, it was agreed on that they would never have a mechanical influence. While I like these traits, I don't think they should be put in game. We should trust our players not to do things out of their skills, or punish them for unbelievable breaking of IC. The sheer amount of coding something like this would require is daunting; checks for basically every kind of attack and other calls? Not really worth the trouble. Plus, the selection of traits is too small. Especially the negatives.
