Being that the skull is one huge bone, we can make it a little special and not require splinting for hairline fractures. Breaks would mandate surgery however just due to the impossibility of externally setting that. I'm not sure what to do with the ribs. I'm open to thoughts.

@dessysalta I would appreciate an SVG/Vector variant of that logo. Grayscale if you can. If this lore app is accepted, we can replace the /tg/ syndicate logo currently used in the antagonist uplink with that. I recommend proposing an alternative name for this @dessy. This way we can go with that if needed.

This is not a good idea. This means that you can drink milk to regrow bones straight from the kitchen. However. We can make the bone chem have calcium as a component. And if the GTR is pre-stocked with the bone chem, it shouldn't be a problem for the chemist unless there's a mass casualty incident which requires them anyway. The idea is that splints should be the main first treatment for bone fractures. Using your limb while it is fractured without splinting it should probably just make it worse. However, first aid procedures should be followed here: first responders should only be splinting bones, not resetting them. The physician and/or surgeon should be required to reset them.

Considering misuse has the possibility to go -very- wrong, I see no problems with this.

This has been something I've been planning for over a year now. I think it's time to post it. The idea here is to make bone medicine into something more detailed than "mandatory surgery if you chip a femur." This involves splitting the injury types and their respective cures. Minor bone injuries will only require external medicine and will no longer need surgery. Here's a quick overview of the planned types and their cures: > Stress/Hairline fractures: Minor bone injury. To Fix: External: Splint + Bone Chem (If surgery, bone gel only) > Fracture/Break: Medium bone injury. External: Splint, Anaesthetic/Painkiller, Bonesetter, Bone Chem (If surgery, see current system) > Compound Fracture: Major Bone Injury. To fix: Surgery: ATK, Bone Gel, Bonesetter, Bone Gel > Comminuted Fracture: Maximum bone injury. To fix: Surgery: Hemostat, ATK, Bone Gel, Bonesetter, Bone Gel > Malalignment: Someone who is about to be fired gave bone chem without aligning the bones. We'll need to break apart the bones to then fix them. Surgery: Drill, Bonesaw, (see Comminuted Fracture) We want the malalignment to punish people for blindly healing someone, but the rest is very open to debate.

The Interstellar Aid Corps
GeneralCamo replied to GeneralCamo's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
The problem is that it's not a straightforward concept. The lore team will not write for it as it's a massive organization, and they don't agree on what it should be. This allows us to have a per-faction subdivision so everyone can get their way, and it makes the larger organization make more sense since it's not trying to micromanage everything. It'll only be involved in big stuff that needs lore master input anyway. -

Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Large Species: General, All Species Short Description: This is an expansion/re-organization of the IAC to be a more decentralized entity. In addition, its history has been fleshed out, and descriptions have been written for -most- of the IAC affiliates (see below however). How will this be reflected on-station?: This will not be directly reflected on the Horizon. However, it will reflect off-ships that spawn, and may provide a template for characters on the Horizon. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Primarily, this allows each individual lore team to write for the IAC, in the guise of each affiliate member of the IAC. The central IAC organization can be reserved for -big- disasters that likely require loremaster input anyway. The smaller groups can be written for by each team without input from other groups, and they can each be tailored to the individual factions to represent their character more. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? Yes Long Description: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSfGOnin-8l3TiNLKKSFo7aYHMaX0tysOBEgzjMRvBi8UFGG1yTElz_3ddDZEZkSbpJc9bdrnm6kgtE/pub This was not fully finished. In particular, I was not entirely sure how to write the entries for the COC, the Adhomian factions, and the Hegemony. However, I believe there is enough here to review as-is. This is partially reliant on this lore app, and indeed that was split from this:
-
I paused this a while ago, however I did plan a full rework of the IAC as an organization. One of the ideas I had was that the IAC is extremely decentralized, with each member state basically organizating their own affiliate. Biesel's IAC affiliate in particular would have had a fair bit of controversy from ties to NanoTrasen, and later the SCC. If this were to go through, it should be clear that this is just Biesel's IAC affiliate. Not Xanu's, not Sol's, just Biesel. It would still do what you want while emphasizing their connection to the SCC.

It matters because the lore isn't really going to exist for the sole purpose of existing. As far as I know, there is not really any lore on current real life religions, with most of this expected to remain in headcanon. The lore app you linked on Catholicism was previously accepted, but it appears to have been wiped since then. I'm really not sure adding lore on a religion that isn't even directly available in-game is a good idea. I'm curious what impact this will have for characters on the Horizon personally.

[Feedback] Raising minimum age for engineering apprentices
GeneralCamo replied to limette's topic in Completed Projects
Would this be an acceptable compromise for people? If we lowered engineer minimum age to 22 to reflect the wiki, but increased engineering apprentice to 21 or so? -
Feedback: New Loadout / Tag Based Categorical Loadout
GeneralCamo replied to Zelmana's topic in Discontinued Projects
I touched on this in the discord, but the one major advantage with this is we can finally get rid of most of the selection categories. No more will you struggle to find a cowboy hat because it is under "hats (colorable)", not to be confused with "hats" -

I think for a start, all of the old categories should now be tags. This will help muscle memory, and these were generally in the correct places. -
WhatsUpBrotendo Deputy Loremaster App
GeneralCamo replied to WhatsUpBrotendo's topic in Developer Applications Archives
This is not the reality I have seen on the server. I covered it more in Kyres's post, but your mention of "species" lore isn't the problem. By the time that becomes relevant, a player will likely have become well-established. The issue is the sheer scale of human lore, and the difficulty of keeping track of -that- lore. It's huge and disorganized, and there's no way to tie anything on the forums in-game especially with the removal of the ties between the forums and the newscasters. That is the issue I am seeing. -
WhatsUpBrotendo Deputy Loremaster App
GeneralCamo replied to WhatsUpBrotendo's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Honestly I think the lack of change is why I must -1 this app. The difficulty of digesting existing lore is a problem I feel, especially for accessibility for new players. You haven't addressed this at all, and for that reason I cannot support this. You're a great skrell writer, but we need a clear direction overall I feel. -
You've shown willingness to kill darlings. You directly addressed my collaborative canon app as being "too large", but praised its organization. You gave well-rounded reasonings behind it, and got us to streamline it greatly. I think your interactions with Kyres are concerning, but one of you is what we need. We need a shakeup of the status quo. And I fully agree with the need to streamline things for the sake of accessibility, especially for new players. For now both you and Kyres are on my shortlist. I look forward to further interactions with both of you to narrow it further.
-
LVS and Kyres are my narrowed picks honestly. I do see some long-term issues popping up, and I went over them in Kyres's last app. Both have shown that they have seen this and beyond, and have addressed them directly. My major concern is with new players. Aurora is a soap box, and is having trouble getting new players to integrate into the community. People are overwhelmed at the sheer content, which wouldn't necessarily be a problem I feel if it is properly organized. But there's no easy primer; the lore is all over the place, and it's difficult to look for stuff. This extends beyond lore honestly, but adding more lore is not helping this situation. I agree with a general content freeze as proposed by Kyres, at least until *existing* content is organized and primed easier. Everyday I see new players struggle to integrate into the server, and several presumably fail as I see them disappear. This is not sustainable, and something drastic may be what we need.

Feedback: New Loadout / Tag Based Categorical Loadout
GeneralCamo replied to Zelmana's topic in Discontinued Projects
I see merit in the new system, since I have seen a lot of items assigned to areas arbitrarily that are confusing to new players. But there's a lot that makes it clunky. Tag selection is very annoying, primarily because it doesn't seem to filter for what I need like wallets or passports. And the search function is broken as it doesn't update on the fly. This needs more time in the oven honestly I feel. -
Then why is this the first time I've ever heard of this? If the lore devs are ignoring it, as you say, why haven't you brought it out of private conversation? Why haven't you allowed others to scrutinize it? Instead of doing that, you've just waited for a chance to get into the seat and only -now- are you stating this in public. That's what I do not get.
-
In my time of open source development, I have seen positives happen when obligations are set forth. It keeps developers on their toes, and ensures a high bar of quality. Ideally the obligations are light, but there needs to be some bar of quality control to ensure consistent contributions. I agree with your directional nature, but my concern here Kyres is that, as LVS has said, you are a veteran. You had the chance to do this long ago. You had the chance to bring this up in a public matter outside of the application process. While I respect you immensely for admitting your mistakes, I can't let go of those ideas in my head.

Farofafeijao tries IPC WL (IPC app)

Not a fan of the new look of maintenance. I think the new look of the platingless floor is too smooth, and the contrast between that and the grating is too much. My alternative proposal, which I am willing to put the work into, would involve replacing the grating with catwalk and adding some grungy tiles to maintenance:
