This is merged, but we're not quite done yet. There's probably a few bugs, including one I found today: This air alarm is behind a closed glass box. This didn't detect a window breach until I opened the windoor. Move this out of the box. There are no vents or scrubbers in the freezer.

[Accepted] GeneralCamo's Skrell Application
GeneralCamo replied to GeneralCamo's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
They aren't unfamiliar with humans. I would presume being in leadership modules, they would have some training on working with them (in addition to classes in Sol Common and Tau Ceti Basic). Of course actually experiencing them in-person would be a bit of a shock, as their main stories regarding humans come from experiences with their quya in the Eridani Federation, which is bizarre even by human standards. They are somewhat familiar with C'Thur and dionaea due to their citizenship within the Federation. The biggest issue however, is IPCs. For obvious reasons this is barely touched on in the federation, but this would be a source of discomfort for them. Being that they are potentially their boss, even more-so. However, directly acting out against this would be discouraged by the federation, so this wouldn't manifest other than obvious feelings of discomfort, and potentially stating this outright if pushed on it. Their SCS is primarily low due to not working for very long. Continued employment would be their primary way of improving their SCS. They will seek to regularly check in with Nralakk and C'thur representatives regarding this to prove their continued loyalty to the Federation. Otherwise, their best bet for improving their SCS is improving their skill set (opportunities abound for space expeditions), and devoting themselves to scientific discovery. They aren't particularly seeking to improve their SCS outside of normal means, and just do what is expected of a loyal citizen. -
BYOND Key: Generalcamo Character Names: Comoe Oulai-Tape Abdul ibn Turkiel Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Naturally #737373, but may opt for spa treatments to #66ffff Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I believe the psionic potential of the skrell, along with their unique social identity, grants the skrell a unique perspective to roleplay from. In addition, their history also grants them a unique opinion on synthetics, and even the C'Thur whom are fellow citizens of the federation. I do also have plans for branching out into less-loyal members of the Federation, however for now I wish to get used to the skrell lore with a loyal citizen. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell relationships are completely different from humans. While for a human polygamy may be considered abnormal, for skrell this is typical. Their history with Glorsh-Omega and contact with humanity has began to shift their culture in several ways, however it is all kept in check by the Nralakk Federation's government, which maintains detailed records on its citizens and assigns many of them a Social Credit Score, which can grant them benefits in society, or have them taken away form them. Being especially long lived, cultural and societal shifts can take much longer than that for a human, and any major deviation would be punished by the federation. This is uncommon however due to their psionic connection to each other, which can often make such thoughts difficult or impossible as the skrell form a collective opinion reinforced by the Nlom. This connection is also why family and relationships are so important to the skrell, and the infertility caused by Glorsh has devastating effects to their traditional culture. Character Name: Xuqon Travenq Xuqon Travenq, is a Xiiori born on 2367 into a Quya between Xuqiri Liliq, a Xiiori, and Volqan Yla-Wul, an Axiori. Their Quya originally met on Eridani, while Xuqiri was working as a liaison for Qerr'Zolvq with their interests with Hephaestus, and Volqan was working as a liaison for Tuz'qlip with their interests with Zeng-Hu. The limited skrell population on Eridani I, plus the strange environment, ensured their formation of a Qu'Nioh, eventually ensuring their formation of a Qu'Poxii. Xuqiri already had a Qu'Poxii with Welairi Luponx, a Xiialt logistics engineer working for Nralakk Logistics on Qerr'Malic, however Volqan was easily welcomed into the family upon their return from Eridani, when they decided to form a Quya. Despite the difficulties presented by the X’Lu’oa, they were successfully able to fertilize an egg. Upon the completion of the Aqi’qa, Welairi was designated as their Qrri'Myaq. While Xuqiri stayed to raise Xuqon, Volqan was called back to work on Eridani only 4 years upon the hatching of Xuqon. However, despite this difficulty, Xuqiri and Welairi continued to raise Xuqon as best as they could. Welairi provided the majority of their Ukutanii, with Xuqiri providing their services as qraa'myaq along with regular visits to facilities sponsored by the federation. When they were able to, Volqan also provided their own services as Qraa'Myaq, however their duties to the Federation ensured they could only stay with them occasionally. Despite this, they did instill the beliefs of Qeblak within Xuqon, often going with them to observatory domes. Welairi also went with them when possible, but they were not quite as dedicated to the faith as Volqan was. Xuqiri on the other hand, exposed them to the teachings of Weishii, and even some of the human followers of Buddhism of which they often conversed with due to their travels in Sol. Upon their attainment of Odurserr in 2386, their quya presented Xuqon with gifts. Volqan presented them with a doll of a human doctor, dressed in the standard uniform of a Zeng-Hu physician. They felt Xuqon would be best suited in the field of medicine. Xuqiri presented them instead with a working hobby model of a stirling engine, with a full technical manual. They felt instead their best fit would be in an engineering field, researching new exotic technologies to enrich their society. Welairi presented them with a holonovel of a skrellian captain from centuries past, who struggled to keep their crew's spirits up after generations in their ship in the unknown space. After considering their choice for a week, and reading the novel they were given, Xuqon burnt the technical manual, signifying their eventual transition into engineering. Untuk'mak was standard for the most part for Xuqon. As they progressed though, they reconsidered some aspects of their prior choice on their Odurserr. Still considering engineering to be the path forward for them, they began to consider that novel they were given by their qrri'myaq. They decided, upon being given the choice, to also take leadership modules. Upon learning this, Welairi seemed very pleased at this. Untuk'mak was also when they were able to develop their own hobbies, and in particular was influenced by their fellows in education to try out srom-capable VR, especially the very popular Swimstars. Their enjoyment of this encouraged their purchase of a swimstars poster, which they keep in their home. It is also at this time that they began to experiment with spa treatments. Naturally having a dark, colorless skin, they began to experiment more with flashy bright colors, and even some new markings often sported by the idols they were exposed to. Deciding they were ready to advance, in 2404 they began to attend a Uyi'vesi. Their solid foundation of physics and chemistry, along with an excellent grasp of calculus, granted them a position in the prestigious Glutip'lyaz University. Their quya was ecstatic upon finding out about this, due to the rarity of acquiring a position there. Pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, the work in the university took a bit of a toll on them: harsh tests, public results of their work, and high standards were among some of the things they experienced. Still, with the support of their quya, and their mentor's teachings of hard work paying off, they eventually succeeded in graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2438. Deciding to get another degree, they decided to focus more on the theoretical by looking into a degree in mathematics, which they acquired in 2455 at an expedited rate due to already having a foundation in mathematics from prior teaching. Deciding to join Tuz'qlip Researchers, in 2465 they were offered the position of a Scientist for Zeng-Hu, as part of the work exchange program, on the SCCV Horizon. While initially nervous at the opportunity, the experiences told to them by their Quya, and the backing of Welairi in particular, encouraged them to take it. What do you like about this character? Being exposed to so many backgrounds grants Xuqon Travenq a large variety of opinions, albeit all aligned with Federation interests. Being mostly unfamiliar with human space other than stories relayed from their quya, they would be very unfamiliar with human customs going aboard the Horizon. This would grant them a unique viewpoint on the Horizon, but one that is still typical of skrell from the federation. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say pretty decent overall, though I admit to struggling at times with interactions between others. Considering skrell social customs are highly unusual to humans, this may be a benefit. Notes: I realized that I forgot SCS scores for the character. Xuqiri is a liaison for Hephaestus, with a background in overseeing mining operations. Their high position, but limited contribution to the advancement in sciences, entitles them to a medium-high score of 6.33. Volqan is dedicated to their work for Tuz'qlip as a liason for Zeng Hu, with a background in research for medicine. With this being considered one of the most important fields in the post-glorsh era, they are entitled to an SCS of 7.15. Welairi is a logistics engineer for Nralakk Logistics. Being in a high-ranking position that requires a highly skilled individual with credentials uncommon in the Federation (due to the typical focus on more theoretical sciences and medicine), they're entitled to a score of 6.68. Xuqon is young, but being part of a high SCS Quya, working in the research field, and attending a prestigious university and successfully graduating with two degrees grants them a total score of 5.27. This score is primarily brought down by their lack of years in the workplace, however it would be considered high for someone of their age.

We do have the secure storage in ops. It has a lot of the solid phoron, plus motion sensors for immediate security response. Perhaps instead you should look towards improving that?

Vending machines will cause a bottleneck when attempting to quickly get equipment, as they allow only one person at a time. I do not recommend this replacing the closets in the armory.

Reporting Personnel: Abdul ibn Turkiel Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Executive Officer Game ID: Cold Dawn: To the end of the World Personnel Involved: Kadeem Rakrubijistri - Operations Manager: Offender Helena Artigas - Captain: Witness Krisza Mezaros - Head of Security: Witness Secondary Witnesses: Artemis Grey: Witnessed the confrontation Ruben Belmonte: Witnessed the confrontation Real Time: 14:20 GMT-5 2023-25-02 Location of Incident: North Pole of Adhomai Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [X] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [X] - Misconduct [X] - Other: Sent potentially classified information, without command or Captain authority, to the PRA Overview of the Incident: Kadeem attempted to convert the Archeologist we were tasked with finding at the North Pole, to Tajaran hadiism. The Archeologist was not amused at this, and threatened to go directly to the NKA's government to report this behavior, and request immediate severance of relations with the SCC. The crew had prior to this, caused a ruckus at a lesser noble's establishment, and gotten the prior archeologist killed that necessitated this dangerous mission. With relations already shaky with the NKA, this ill-advised action did not serve to help our cause. Upon being confronted about this, Kadeem was witnessed by the Captain, using the Fax Machine. I personally witnessed Kadeem burn the document in front of myself and the Captain. Upon being questioned, Kadeem admitted they sent the record to the PRA, but did not reveal its contents, despite being given a direct order from the Captain. Kadeem claimed the prior agreement with the PRA necessitated him doing so, but he did not consult command on this, nor did he follow a direct order to reveal its contents. He claimed its contents were "confidential." Therefore I am filing this IR, not just due to the clear violation of orders from the Captain, but also due to Kadeem's clear inability to remain objective and avoid conflicts of interest, in their dealings with the NKA. Our crew is likely to be dealing with elements of the ALA in the course of our greater mission, based on information received on this misison, and this presents a clear liability in our ability to handle the situation in the future via diplomatic means. Submitted Evidence: A pile of ashes, representing the burned document Would you like to be personally interviewed?: [ ] - Yes [X] - No Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: This was personally witnessed by the Captain. I was asked to file this in my capacity as an XO, as the Captain was busy dealing with the events following the Crew's visit to Adhomai. Actions taken: Captain requested I file an IR directly to the SCC Additional Notes: As we do not know what was in the Fax, we request that the SCC directly get involved, and seek out the report by any means necessary.

I'm skeptical of this, but honestly the words alone cannot allow me to picture what you have planned. I do like the idea of bringing the equipment to the third deck though, to centralize that a bit. I will need to see a picture of this to give feedback, as I am having trouble imagining what you want here.
-
I granted them interim Head of Security. They honestly already had the department's leash, and everyone was listening to them, so I made it official. They did well leading the department until an actual head showed up. I would like to see them in a more permanent capacity however, in a full trial. +1

Make the Executive Officer the ship's second in command.
GeneralCamo replied to Kintsugi's topic in Suggestions & Ideas
Too destructive and broad, we generally should trust XOs to make the right call at the time. I feel a debrief should be necessary, so that the captain can make any needed corrections or decisions, but completely overriding the XO's order to arm security, while armed mercenaries are shooting the hallways, would be incredibly chaotic and needless for something that a good captain would probably order anyway. -
Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: GeneralCamo Character Name(s): Abdul ibn Turkiel Comoe Oulai-Tape AI Name(s): No whitelist Discord username + tag: GeneralCamo#4928 Age: 25 Timezone: UTC-5 When are you on Aurora?: Generally I try to be on around evenings my time, though I do try to make time for events and similar. Experience How long have you played SS13?: I have played constantly for about 3 years, though I did make an account earlier for some one-offs How long have you played on Aurora: 2 years How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Most of my time has been spent either here, or on Bay. I am highly familiar with its mechanics. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yes Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No, not on any SS13 server for that matter. Personality Why do you play SS13?: Generally I meet some pretty cool people here. I also do like exploring a different, unfamiliar setting, in a relatively detailed game that really can't be matched anywhere else. Why do you play on Aurora?: Aurora is a decent HRP server, and while I played on bay for most of my history, I eventually made this my main server after the NBT was released, and its activity has always been a high point for me. What do moderators do?: Moderators not only uphold the ruleset of the server, but also maintain the safety and integrity of their community where possible. In the case of SS13, they are also generally senior members who are highly familiar with the mechanics of the current server. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: As above, but with the additional role of maintaining the general atmosphere, and setting of the server. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Honestly I wasn't sure I wanted to be a moderator. However, ReadThisNamePlz encouraged me to sign up, and upon further consideration I -do- care about this community, and I have prior experience moderating not on this game specifically, but for other communities and other games. I believe I can genuinely improve the community as a whole. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: Generally I try to keep an open mind, and consider multiple perspectives on things. I do have an eye for detail, although admittedly that can backfire as well. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I generally do not get angry over SS13. If I am stressed, I stay away entirely. Insults, I've taken a lot. I can handle them. Anything Else You Want to Add: I'll admit this will be a new experience for me. But I'm willing to assist the community, and learn along the way.

They do actually have some genetic traits reflective of them, vs a human that has mere muscle atrophy. This is very true. We are also no longer on a station, but a vessel in long-term exploration. NT has hired them for years, and it was stated the restrictions on them would be lifted eventually. We are now in a new setting, with a new head corporation. I believe the time to remove the restriction has long come, and this is an opportune moment to do so. It can even be an IC lift, as the initial heads hired three years finally get a promotion to Captain.
-
Going to post to state that the restriction on Off-worlder Captains, was not created due to any physical limitations, but the IC justification that NT (at the time) had just allowed offworlders to take command positions, and it was stated it would be removed eventually:

I'm familiar with Mikhail Ivanov. Your abilities are good, and that makes me want to endorse you. But your backstory is a bit lacklustre for a species with a lot of it. Here are some questions I would personally like to see fleshed out: Why did your character join the ALA? I mean specifically, why them and not the growing Grand Army of the PRA? Surely the money and prestige would have been better there? What does your character think of the PRA, and the NKA, respectively? Does your character revere Supreme Commander Nated above all others? Do you feel the revolution isn't complete until the civilian government is in place? Or do you believe the warlords have the right idea about things? "he paid off a Ha'rron, in hopes of finding another venture outside of the wartorn planet." Why? Why did he not simply go to another ALA cell, or where the DPRA had actually taken land? While working away from Adhomai, you will encounter Tajara who feel differently than you do about many of the things above, including even within your own faction. How do you feel your character has reacted to this, and will react to it? Your character was a teenage soldier in the ALA, and has partaken in menial tasks for all their life. What position do you see yourself in the Horizon, taking into account your probable lack of education? "ALA cell was formed in his village." Alright, how did this affect your family that you have now abandoned on Adhomai?

BYOND key: generalcamo Discord Username: GeneralCamo#4928 Character names: Comoe Oulai-Tape, Warden Abdul ibn Turkiel, Bridge Officer A few other minor characters I rarely play How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Approximately two years Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I received a warning once for picking a language I was not supposed to during an event. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: OOC, Head of Staff are expected to bring their experience with roleplaying into the community, and contribute positively to the community's growth. To this end, they are expected to show good judgement, and provide opportunities to characters to develop in the community. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Primarily to provide an example to the community on roleplaying, and hopefully provide an incentive to stay with the server and perhaps even apply to a whitelist on their own. Assisting and interacting with other players is the primary thing to do here, along with upholding the rules of the server and the standard procedures of the ship itself. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. For Comoe Oulai-Tape, their position as an Idris Detainee Retention Specialist on Eridani, a core world of the Alliance, has meant they did not feel the effects of the Phoron shortage as keenly as other characters would have. Their position aboard the Horizon came about as a result of good performance and relevant experience, and Idris preferring to send their best to represent themselves to the greater SCC on their flagship. As for Abdul, they served as a Legionary aboard a TCFL vessel. Their family historically has served in a military capacity, formerly for the Sol Government and now for the Republic of Biesel's Legion. The King of the World event, alongside the annexation of the CRZ and the resulting chaos they witnessed, convinced them not to renew their commission to the TCFL. Feeling that the SCC's goal of resolving the Phoron shortage and exploring the frontiers was more gainful than the TCFL, they took their experience and joined the recently-launched SCCV Horizon, on its search for Phoron. During this time, they have distinguished themselves in the VR simulation (Where they unfortunately lost their digital life to a stray round hitting the bridge), dealing with a potential Elyran diplomatic incident (in which he was commended specifically for this event), and in action against Pirates near S'rand'marr (where a fellow bridge crewmember lost their life next to him, and their Captain fell to a stray round). What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? For Comoe Oulai-Tape, I plan to promote them to head of security. For Abdul ibn Turkiel, I plan to go with Executive Officer with the possibility to later go with Captain depending on how they develop. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Comoe Oulai-Tape: HoS Abdul ibn Turkiel: XO, CO Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you linked your byond account to the forums? Yes Extra notes: My schedule is in flux lately, but I should be more available now to play.

I have personally used the PEAC to deal with a mech, and it took every round available to take it down. It was later revealed in that round that the mech in question was made with spare parts and had no armor, and if the actual combat mech was brought out I doubt the PEAC could have dealt with it, even if we actually had ammo.
-
The point of this primarily was to ensure this doesn't happen again. I believe a PR was merged in the interim to prevent exactly that. Since this was made, I cannot even recall any specifics of this event due to how long ago it was. I was pointed to some lore regarding languages in Elyra by another user, but I can't even recall if I was using that. This can be closed now.

Human Languages Lore Rework
GeneralCamo replied to Kintsugi's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
I'm willing to PR this myself to get it implemented, if this has the support of the Human Lore Team. Some feedback though: Romantish covers three entire continents if I am understanding it right, plus most of Europe and Africa. I highly recommend at least splitting the English-speaking countries out, as that is not a Romance language and both languages would still cover a significant portion of the Earth and their population. We have support for a `partial_understanding` flag. I recommend its usage here considering the lore behind some of these mentions that they are partially intelligible. We could also implement special cultural languages by doing this, like Konyanger Sol having more understanding with Frontier than with baseline Sol. We could perhaps add a special Spacer language used by Scarabs and others who have lived in space for generations. This one I am not so sure of. -
We've always had stasis beds. They're known as "sleepers" and are placed right next to the body scanners. The addition of seperate stasis beds just seems redundant next to them.
-
I recall asking what languages I should pick in aooc, and being told "Sol Common", "Basic", and "Elyran" by a co-volunteer. I may be incorrect here. It seemed like an acceptable assumption that we would be engaging in discussion with the Sol Marines directly (though this did not happen admittedly).

BYOND Key: generalcamo Staff BYOND Key: alberyk Game ID: Unknown, I believe the Round before ckZ-apDY Reason for complaint: This complaint was late. This is being made due to, in hindsight, realizing what went wrong. I specifically believe that this incident was due to a lack of information I was given, as a relatively new player to events, and as such I contest the official warning being given due to having no knowledge of the specific bug, and little instruction in what languages I should have picked. I volunteered for Dreary Futures: Episode 3. I was put onto the Elyran team, and given some instructions regarding the general idea of the round. This is all I was given, and when the event started, I had basically a character concept. I asked in AOOC what languages to pick, and one person (I believe Clem) stated "Sol Common, Elyran, and Tau Ceti Basic". This seemed reasonable to me, since we were expected to potentially directly get into conflict with the FSF (which is what happened), and talk with them. The other Elyran volunteer did not mention Sol Common, but I failed to see this and I had no reason to not pick it (based on what I knew of the round, and not knowing the existence of the bug). During the round however, I noticed I had the other ship's comms. Noticing this, I mentioned this in AOOC. I was told it was an "unfixable bug" by dansemacabre, and not given anything else regarding it. My assumption was that event players were expected to deal with the bug, and not metagame. This was my first event, and I had no prior experience with multiple off-ship roles (My experience with off-ship roles up to this point involved only one off-map ship spawning). I ensured to ignore the words in sol common, and not use them to my advantage. When the elyrans eventually boarded the Horizon, I mostly stayed in the hangar. When someone mentioned that the Sol Marines were moving, I moved back inside the shuttle and checked the sensors console. Based in their heading, I noticed that they were moving behind a dust cloud, which was a blind spot for those sensors. I assumed they were attempting to get behind the Horizon for another round of fire, and stated such in my team's radio. At this point, I was admin messaged by alberyk. They asked why I mentioned that they were potentially preparing to attack, and why I had sol common. I unfortunately do not remember exactly what I said, but I was warned in the end for "'During an event, picking the other team's language when they should have not due to ships' sharing comms." Evidence/logs/etc: I unfortunately neglected to take down exact logs for this complaint for this round. I genuinely felt extremely bad after that round. This complaint was made with the benefit of hindsight, but without the foresight of saving logs. Additional remarks: I genuinely feel terrible for failing to have the foresight or confidence to question this directly in AOOC or an a-help after given the note that it was an "unfixable bug" by danse. My point here is to state that I had no prior experience with an event, no prior experience with off-ship roles involving multiple ships in the same map, no prior knowledge of this bug, and no clear indicators on exactly what I was to do. I was operating effectively blindly, and while I was praised for my efforts in the round, it did eventually lead to this unfortunate misunderstanding and event. My purpose of establishing this staff complaint is primarily to ensure this does not happens again, to anyone in a similar situation.

Proposed citizenship guideline updates
GeneralCamo replied to GeneralCamo's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Content-wise this is status quo, just giving a suitable explanation for it that matches what is seen in-game. Currently only Konyang is explicitly stated to be different, and I added ambiguity so that autocanon/future expansion could add additional planets, systems, or associate members that are also different. If this is otherwise desired by the lore team, I have no problems with this honestly. I'm just not in the position to be making those changes. -
Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Medium Species: Primarily Human Short Description: This primarily affects the Coalition of Colonies and the Eridani Corporate Federation citizenship guidelines, by updating them to better reflect the current backgrounds behind them. How will this be reflected on-station?: This primarily affects record flexibility, but in the case of Eridani does allow for some roleplay with regards to the possible conditions that an employee that -must- keep their job at any cost can have. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Yes, as this will canonically allow for CoC players to state in their records they have a dual citizenship with the Coalition and their member planet, without adding hundreds of citizenship options. For Eridanian players, this clears up an existing lore inconsistency, and allows reinstated players to have more reasons complain about their conditions. The recent rewrite of the Eridani Corporate Federation states that "Even if a Dreg is born a non-citizen they automatically obtain citizenship in Eridani by simply getting a job with a megacorporation." This rewrite reflects that by adding a new option for Eridani Citizenship. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? Yes Long Description: The rewrite has been split into pages for organization. Check the next pages for the proposed rewrites. The following rewrite is proposed to the Coalition of Colonies guidelines: Coalition of Colonies The Coalition of Colonies, being a highly decentralized confederation, does not have a unified citizenship or visa application in the traditional sense. Rather, citizenship in the Coalition of Colonies itself greatly simplifies applying for citizenship in most of its 357 member systems, along with many of its associate members. It also removes the need for a visa or passport to travel and work throughout most of the Coalition. Citizenship within any of its member planets automatically grants Coalition citizenship, but a separate application is also available with the following requirements: Citizenship An application fee of 100 credits. New citizens must reside in the Coalition of Colonies for at least 2 months out of the year for five years. By Sol Alliance law, must forfeit Sol Alliance citizenship, if existent. Allows any other dual citizenships. While most members will grant their own citizenship to Coalition citizens with what will typically be a mere formality, certain members have stricter guidelines on acquiring a citizenship, such as Konyang. Konyang's citizenship requirements can be read HERE. The following changes are proposed for Eridani Citizenship: Eridani Corporate Federation [...] Citizenship For a standard Citizenship, an application fee of 750,000 credits. You may receive discounts by working in Eridani Federation space, which can potentially reduce this fee to zero after several years of work. A probationary Citizenship is available to those who work for a corporation that is registered within the Eridani Corporate federation, with a cheaper fee of 5,000 credits. This probationary citizenship is conditioned on continued employment with the corporation for at least 10 years, and can be revoked if the applicant is fired, laid off, or otherwise leaves their company. Must sign an Eridani Federation citizenship contract. Allows dual citizenships.

Reduce the Chief Engineer's minimum qualifications
GeneralCamo replied to GeneralCamo's topic in Policy Suggestions
I would argue that it's more fitting for a master's degree, being that it's a technical and practical consideration. A Ph.D holder would be more into experimenting with the most optimal way to run those temperamental engines in a controlled environment, not attempting to fix them in the field. Based on the wiki, the Chief Engineer isn't meant to be doing the experimenting himself, just keep the experimental stuff running. If this were changed so that the CE was allowed to handle research into these fields, and recruit the engineers into running these experiments, that would be different and I would retract this. My point here is that the practical real world expectations for a doctorate in engineering is out of line of what's going on in the game, and how most players play their characters as Chief Engineer. -
From the wiki article: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Chief_Engineer The Chief Engineer's job is to organize the engineering department, and sometimes get their hands dirty if no one else can do it. This is basically a glorified office job, which do not get me wrong is important on the Horizon, however the stated requirements that you need a Doctorate in an engineering field is way too high for this position. Someone with a doctorate in engineering field is expected to contribute to research in that field, and indeed already has with a thesis paper. They would be well overqualified for the Chief Engineer position, and should look into a job in Research instead. My proposal here is to reduce the requirements for a Chief Engineer to a Master's Degree, or a Bachelor's Degree with relevant experience. This would fit in line with the requirements for the Head of Security, a similar job with a similar role on the Horizon. I should note that several Chief Engineer players do not play on the Horizon with the "Doctor" title that would be attained to them with a doctorate, which suggests that this is already treated as de facto the policy on the Horizon.
