So, i actually find myself agreeing with points made on both sides of this debate. This debate really is about how much game mechanics can affect bad behavior and i would like to give my perspective as head administrator. The thing we need to keep in mind here is that the vast and overwhelming majority of action taken by staff is going to be REACTIVE. If a team of heisters bust in and gank half the crew all we can really do is punish people so that the situation does not happen again. At best we might able to toss out a few rejuvs if the situation is literal grief but often times the damage is already done and the round will continue. With this reality in mind it is a very fair argument to make that particularly powerful mechanics or items that are too easily available too often contribute to bad outcomes. The availability of stuns for security used to be like this. Batons where once a one click stun and tasers where a 2 hit stun. I do not think comparing the AMI to TTV is fair. The expectation on the use of a TTV is generally a lot greater i think. They destroy an entire area where the AMI just kills one person. It is the often the case potential bombers ahelp and ask first too. I doubt someone does this before they fire an AMI. It is entirely possible and valid to argue that certain things are too powerful while being too easily available and too often contribute to negative outcomes. I am not entirely certain if the AMI falls under this considering evidence submitted in this thread seems to suggest that it will not penetrate far and it also will not "one shot kill". Though you could definitely argue 80 brute to the head is going to put you out of commission for quite a while.

It sounds like melodic felt it was kind of lame but not actually against the rules. I mean yeah it sounds lame to get stomped because the roboticist made stuff for sec but this does not sound like it broke rules. Roboticist would have been super valid though.

The rule may say that but i am the rules. no but uhh that rule is ancient and actually its kind of obsolete. Looooong time ago when abosh was still here we settled on an internal policy due to tech changes for the server. Right now we just have the system notify us if someone is using a VPN and.... thats it. We do not kick them nor do we ban them. I do not really care if someone else does it.

I cannot just delete or change his name or change to a new character. What i did in round was actually a really cool character concept i wanted to try. I didnt even think anyone did anything wrong. I thought it was fine of you arrest me although that is certainly not what i intended to happen. My character has always been catholic ever since snake first came here and got me interested in it so i kinda used gregor to project my interest in the subject. I thought it would be interesting to try a non-denomination christian that observed a certain ritual every month. I take a few syringes of my blood and light them on fire. Thats it. It was just supposed to be a cool concept to work with and see where it goes. I wasnt trying to attract attention but "garns a meme we all know how he fucks around" i guess is pinned on me? I was only there at the tail end of the previous round. I do not really disagree with any of this. Let me just speak a little bit on to why we even have that rule to begin with. I have personally liked having it around because i think we have the ability to cultivate a certain kind of culture here in our community. a certain kind of culture who has no need for certain words or topics to be banned. A certain kind of culture that just... does not really engage in the sort of behavior you would want to specifically rule against. I think this works in some cases and it doesn't in others. I think a rule like this is only as good as its staff are in promoting and cultivating said culture. It is far easier to do on server because of the nature of ahelps. It also a lot easier now to do it on the forums because of our fancy "you get autobanned if you accrue too many points" I think there is definitely an issue on the discord for a number of reasons. 1. there is no real report system. At best people have to mention an entire group of admins in public which... well i am sure you can see how most people do not want to be "that guy". In lieu of that they have to PM a specific person which then creates the problem of "....oh shit who do i PM?" And at this point most people will just tab out of discord. I think i might even be able to semi-solve this issue by creating a channel that everyone can post in but nobody can see? Maybe we can even get @Skull132 to code a specific functionality for the Bot. Maybe people can PM the bot just like an ahelp and then the bot will send that specific message into a staff-only channel on player discord. then we can look into it just like an ahelp. 2. People just do not report things but i think i have already detailed reasonably why this is the case. It is also probably due to no small part of "well issues dont get worked on so whats the point....." which is fair. Also i want to comment on some things about what specifically would be targeted. I kiiiiiiinda want to say i agree with this. I mean it would be pretty hypocritical of me to say "you cant call an idea retarded you cant call a person retarded" when i have literally done the former. I want to say that the bar for criticizing an idea is lesser. "Your idea is retarded and here is why". I mean at that point you could even argue "well why do you NEED to call it retarded" and i mean i guess you dont. Your ckey "rhizones" is linked vis CID to the original banned ckey of "magosnacht". a CID is a unique identifier for every physical computer. Do you have any explanation for why you share such a link to a ckey you've never seen before?

Its really annoying when someone just sits there and makes up lies and assumptions about a character you where actually invested in for once. Its equally annoying when someone pokes the bear relentlessly and then plays the victim when they finally lash out. I could walk you through my motivations for doing what i did. I could walk you through my excitement at being happy to play for once. I could walk you through how much i hate being recognized in LOOC. I could walk you through how often i have expressed the issue i have playing with fellow staff and players. I could walk you through all of that and then spend 30 minutes going down the checklist of easy solutions you and everyone else has thought of. I am not going to do any of those burger.
