  1. I love how Pocheto portrays the characters she does and I've trusted her with a couple of characters who have a substantial role with my own (see: her Drek'za, which is Kasa'an's sister). She's also a friend of a friend that writes super well, and so I'm a little biased because of that. +1!
  2. Hopefully I'm not peanutting here, I would also like to add to this complaint a couple of things, as I was the HOS (Kira Vasquez) this round. Panahi also went on a tirade of holding a shotgun and frankly self-antagging (to my knowledge) in the bar and making just a ginormous fuss over IC regulations. I'm not sure if they weren't briefed on the whole "this is an HRP server" thing but regardless of traitor status all they did was wave a shotgun around, vehemently deny everything and ask for a lawyer, and then jump into a locker that ended up getting dragged to security. Their comment "you should weld me in" (or words to that effect) also hints at them being a new face from one of the other servers that allows you to do that, but that's neither here nor there. They were generally just a very unrealistic, very insane character. A few minutes later, they're in security being charged, and then they ended up getting winded by staff. Given they were un-winded later and I received an ALOOC from Noble Row about how they're ready to roleplay now, I figured that was admin intervention setting them straight on things. What Lux described above was immediately after that winding. It couldn't have been more than five minutes from being released from security (so maybe ten total). As for what came after everything up until that point, from arresting to suspending and bwoinking, I'm not sure. We didn't see them again but did get several reports of them refusing orders from other heads of staff (namely the OM and operations in general) to get out of their department after trespassing several times, which led to two more arrests.

  4. an open letter to all engineers: remodel places more often!! i like seeing it!! get the CE's permission ICly and then turn the bar into a cool night club looking place!! make more places look industrial!! its fucking awesome!!

      Codename: Bear

If there is no CE work with another Head of Staff like Captain or XO. This was done semi-regularly on the Aurora 2 with the IT level or whatever it was called. People also once terraformed the entire (or at least one Z-level) of the asteroid the Aurora 2 was on. I think other departments should reach out to engineering and ask for remodelling when things are quiet and all the engineering things are set up.

HAVE FUN! THIS IS A THREAT!

  5. These are all pretty good points and I concede, but how long ago was the Elyra thing? Only one canonical cyborgification speaks to the rarity or it.
  6. I like the idea of this in concept, but the Conglomerate isn't so dystopian as to tackle someone for insubordination and brainwash them. Cyborgification exists only as essentially the absolute worst-case scenario, marooning is preferable if a death sentence is wanted, and in the case of actual murders they'll just arrest you. Constant action that's deemed inappropriate by CCIA results in firing or disciplinary action, not getting your brain rearranged. Loyalty implants should totally be an antagonist thing, though. They don't really have a reason to exist outside of that. Biesel/The CoC/maybe Sol to a point would never allow some random-ass person to get brainwashed just because they're an asshole on a corporate ship, and there's no reason for it to be a choice thing either (i.e. "take the implant or you're fired") because next to nobody would agree to it (though I'd totally be in favor of this being a thing, the choice that is).
  7. I figure it's a glitch pertaining to using old/dead character names; unsure if it persists after the recent character name update. Swapping from one name to another in character selection probably tricks the client into thinking you're attempting to reuse a dead character's name (hence why I couldn't change it back to GEVURAH after I tried to make it GEVURA).
  8. Agreed with Carver. The grace period placed upon naming is so people can have second thoughts or reconsiderations (take, for instance, someone mistakenly playing an izweski or other Hegemony consul, and then realizing it'd be more fun if they were from a different place on Moghes, Dominia, etc.) like I've done several times. That said, I'd also recommend that a system change take place that makes it so simply entering a name and then changing it to something else doesn't bar you from that name. I once tried to change "Gevurah" to "GEVURAH," and it wouldn't let me, so I had to contact a headmin. Having that limit only apply after the grace period has finished/after the character's been played at least once would be a much better fit.
  9. You fucking better promote Bloodclaw to OM. Also, I've had nothing but positive experiences with MrLenny's characters, so I have no doubt he'll be able to play in a command role. +1!

  11. BYOND Key: dessysalta Discord Username: remratsuken Character Name: Kira Vasquez Item Name: defaced warlord flag Item Function(s): It's a large flag. Put it on the wall, maybe wear it as a blanket. Item Description: The flag of some minor Solarian defector state that has been stitched and painted over with various energetic words and the number and emblem of the 104th Fleet. The most notable is written in Sol Common, "Szalai's finest!" Extended Description: Not so uncommon within what was the Human Wildlands, and even prior to the Wildlands' formation, many minor Solarian successor states tried to form and either failed or were forcefully quelled or absorbed by the more capable fleets and warlords that were part of Sol's standing navy and army. Fleet Admiral Klaudia Szalai and the First Middle Ring Battlefleet itself were particularly heavy-handed with rebels or secessionists that opposed Sol or considered themselves sovereign powers, and the 103rd-107th Fleets commonly defaced, tore apart, or burned these trivial attempts at propaganda. This particular flag has many patriotic epithets on the backside, from Sol Common phrases, to Tradeband monikers, to TCB and Freespeak slang, with the ink in the center of the back reading: "Our attempt at a better life, one year at a time." Why is your character bringing this item to work?: Kira is a strange patriot by ordinary means, at least from the perspective of many working on the Horizon. She wants to forgive the Sol system for doing what it has done to countless innocent lives, she wants to embrace Biesel for letting her live a better, inclusive life, and she doesn't know which to align herself with, even if she always says Sol's her loyalty. Over the years of working for herself, for Sol, for NanoTrasen and now the Conglomerate, she's had time to realize that being a patriot isn't ignoring the faults of one nation and playing up their achievements, but accepting these faults and hoping for a better future; a better Sol. This flag stands for the 104th Fleet under Szalai's command, part of what would become the Southern Military District, known for its loyalty to the Alliance even when all hope was lost and they could have chosen to become pirates or some other antagonistic side. Much like how everyone else on the Horizon likes to hang up their flags for whatever reason they might have, Kira wants to hang this one in security. Not because it says "Sol number one," but because it reminds her that she fought for a better future for herself, her family, Sol, and now her friends. If nothing else, it advertises the Wildlands Squadron just a bit more, and draws attention to her old service--like any Sol veteran, she loves talking about it. How did your character obtain this item?: Even prior to the main collapse of Sol, there was infighting to be found and AWOL soldiers trying to play God or resent the Alliance and Kira's fellow man. One such deployment to a small asteroid housing a group of miscreant soldiers under the name of "The Solarian Province of Firesetters" (at the time named for no other reason than their usage of incendiary rounds, but always played up and framed as though they were taking on some "noble goal" of Solarian reformation; the joke of course being these soldiers had done nothing to better Sol and were no better than rebellious pirates) led to the 104th assaulting and arresting each and every rifleman that had defected or attempted to fire upon the 1MRB. Interestingly enough, these individuals had fashioned the old Solarian flag into one of their own, complete with the usage of black and gold ("The Front ended up using those colors better, hijo.") and even a large seal in the center ("A seal? Really? They couldn't have just put an ounce of creative thought into it?"). Kira, at the time Sergeant Vasquez, took note of this flag as the defecting men were cuffed and brought in. When her men stepped in to tear it down, she grabbed their arm and stopped them. Her eyes wandered around the room and found cans of spray paint, the ones that must have been used to make the flag in the first place. She stepped over to the box and picked one up, shaking it back and forth. "No, no. I've got a better idea." What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: The flag is of great sentimental value to Kira, someone who has come to terms with her military service and even yearns for the days she could go kicking pirates or dissenters in their pants again. It's more than your usual flag; it's not necessarily a keepsake to advertise the Solarian Armed Forces (she has plenty of those, and trust me, she doesn't want to make an enemy by hanging it near a Biesellite or, God forbid, a Gadpathurian), and it's not meant to be as blandly and loudly patriotic as a nation's flag. It conveys the message that while Kira might be another dime-a-dozen Solarian veteran, she did something good once, and maybe Sol did too. After all, the Wildlands Squadron, not to mention Kira herself, is here for a reason, light years away from her home, still fighting for a just cause, this time on the Horizon. Sprites: Kira104th.dmi Additional Comments: Sprites by myself! I also asked @CampinKiller if this would be accepted from a human lore standpoint and got the go-ahead. Shading is a little weird because it's a spray-painted flag.
  12. I'm in favor of keeping it to space, honestly. Set a macro for whatever button you want to toggle mov_intent(?) and there you go. Space is an alternative for shorter bursts. Adding it to shift would make examining a pain and combat while sprinting worse methinks. Bay also has it set to space for similar reasons I'm pretty sure.
  13. Hi, since I haven't seen anyone comment from the security side of things, I'll do that now. If I'm peanutting, let me know. I was Commander Iska for that round, and while I didn't necessarily have an issue with getting wiped, I would be amiss if I didn't say "giving two combat-grade exosuits and an uplink to a pirate base when all we have is a PEAC and one powerloader chassis with guns felt like a bit much." As far as "validing" goes, I should say that my character's motivations are what drove me to weed out the pirate base, not that I needed some action or wanted to get some easy arrests/kills. Considering my character is an Iska (and, yes, mistakenly introduced themselves as Iska's Adventurers, this was my fault) and Central Command gave him the go ahead, he was more than willing to perform a raid on a pirate hideout. Though to me I thought it'd spice up the round if security wasn't holed up on the Horizon for once given nothing happened for over an hour and a half and I was starting to think it was an extended round. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way is when we were in full retreat the two combat mechs, you guessed it, swarmed us and killed us in about 2 minutes on the outside. Maybe five if you count people dying from their injuries over that course, but the Vaurca went out of their way to execute us too (and I don't necessarily blame them, that's their right) and I feel you can't make the argument that the bugs didn't know we were Conglomerate-aligned after having seen all of our corporate gear and the Intrepid if for a moment. It felt decently aggravating to spend over an hour gearing security up, prepping for this mission, then we touchdown, Horizon tells us to GTFBO (get the fuck back on) and then we die without doing pretty much any damage aside from disabling their two mechs. We got steamrolled and the only other alternative would have been to do something that got me ahelped (since the bridge crew were yelling at us to get back on, and I had no reason to deny them that). As far as adminbus goes, I should go on record to say that the idea of raiding a souped up base on behalf of the Conglomerate for funsies is pretty awesome. Conceptually, that is. The only issue is we never actually got to do that, we turned our backs for one second (some might call this a mistake, but we didn't really have a choice) and instantly died. I wouldn't personally mind if more adminbus stuff like this happened occasionally, but we were woefully outclassed fighting the most brute-resistant species that had two combat mechs and heavy armor. We were all humans (+ a tajara and a sinta) in voidsuits. Of course we're not going to win, especially when the other side is offered punji traps, fuel traps (see: the entrance that was covered in the stuff and got ignited immediately), reinforced barriers, barbed wire and a chokepoint on top of the uplink and two mechs. Past that, I'll echo what has already been said on the pirate side of things about IC reasoning and the mentioned gear.
