  1. I personally don’t think any of those are bad on a slow round. At the end of the day the crew determines what level of interaction to opt for with the exception of the xenoarcheologist bringing an obviously dangerous anomaly onto the ship. It is likely bugged but I have to argue against removing something based only on anecdotal statements when a bug report hasn’t been made for it. At time of writing a brief search in git hasn’t shown any reports submitted of it being overly present.
  2. I’m always of a mind to give players more options to deal with problems than removing the problems. I also think xenoarch still has some really old kinks that need to be worked out, such as not all anomalies being compatible with the containment crates. If the statuettes are spawning at a higher rate then they should then it needs to be noted in a bug fix but I also think they present additional opportunities for other departments to get involved in expeditions and have things to do.
  3. The one from last round was admin controlled, just to be fully transparent.
  4. Hey, thanks for applying. I’ll reach out to you soon to schedule an interview
  5. Until a nerf is implemented I’d still recommend the net-gun though. In hardsuits it can be used at any time so long as it’s selected beforehand in the modules. And it’s fired with middle mouse, no dropping anything, no getting out your weapons it’s just ready to fire. And I don’t think it has RNG to hit you just click the thing you want to net. The only caveat is that it may be a restricted module, I’ll have to check.
  6. My personal opinion, as someone who is a fan of fucking around and/or finding out, is not to nerf it but give you better tools to deal with it. I know that can be a big ask if something readily available doesn't fit the need but there might be ways. I'm not a machinist so I don't know if this is feasible, but the only net launchers I'm aware of are the hardsuit variety. How difficult would they be to manufacture during a normal shift? Do they fit standard-ish hardsuits?
  7. See the resolution of this thread. If your forum account wasn't linked to your ckey the whitelist was removed. As for recovering the whitelist, you will need to reapply.
  8. New favorite gif
  9. I dunno. The vents also have a lot of movement and animation but I think people have just gotten used to it. I think given time you'll tune out the scrubbers too.
  10. CCIA Application Basic Information Byond key: Evandorf Character names: Suvek Tokash, Solomon Shaw Age: Too Old ( If it's super pertinent you can DM me ) Timezone: CST (GMT - 6) What times are you most available?: Most Weekdays after 5 PM CST and on the weekends Experience How long have you played SS13?: My BYOND Account says it was created in September of 2013, so on and off since then. How long have you played on Aurora?: Since August 2015 How active on the forums, discord and/or server are you? I'm decently active, although I usually only post when I have something to add to a discussion but I like to stay current on active topics. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No. Have you ever volunteered as moderation staff for any other servers, SS13 or otherwise?: I've only moderated for Aurora. Once around 2019 and again currently. Do you have any other experience that you believe would be relevant to a position in the CCIA?: I've had administrative positions IRL managing small to medium teams, dealing with disciplinary actions, hiring/firing, ect. Personality Why do you want to join the CCIA?: Primarily to help the server run smoother and give you guys another set of hands to handle issues but I also enjoy paperwork and bureaucracy RP. What do you think are the most important qualities for a CCIA Agent to possess?: Patience and and eye for detail. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is in an ongoing round?: To provide guidance when appropriate or solicited; this might involve answering fax requests or pushing for information on an extended code red, ect. You can provide an outside perspective on active events and help keep players grounded. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is outside of the server?: Primarily dealing with IC disputes that spill over between rounds or for some reason can't be resolved on the server itself. Unless you are playing extended there are many times where the pressures of the round prevent a true look at the interpersonal struggles that happen. CCIA can take a look at the reports, logs, and statements and parse the noise into something coherent and help find a resolution. How do you handle stress?: I like to think I handle it well. Work stress is best dealt with by establishing goals, boundaries, and good communication. The same is true of interpersonal stresses. In both cases try to avoid assumptions and not take things personally but know your limits and when you need to step away. How well do you work autonomously?: I'd like to think I work well both alone and in groups. I have no issues setting my own schedules, keeping my work organized or asking for help or advice when needed. Additional Notes: Most of my answers are similar to my last application but that's only because my perspective hasn't changed much since December. Since then I've been part of the AI whitelist team, dipped my toes into mapping, coding, and contributing and did a small amount of IC organization during the end of the last arc and it's made me appreciate the amount of work that goes into managing things around here.
  11. I've said it before but antags need to focus on goals/objectives that do not require a standoff with security. As much of a meme as they are ( and ignoring other issues with their goals and RP engagement ), nuke-ops mercs had a decent gameplay loop because you had two objectives: get the disk and arm the nuke. Neither of those requires interaction with security. I'm not advocating to bring back nuke-ops or anything, but you can use its progression as a decent template for objective based goals: Early Phase (security is not engaged): Generate RP via announcements, conversations with non-security crew, radio messages, even ahelps for global notifications or CCIA faxes. The RP is always what we're about. Heavily telegraph your intent. You might think that this is counterproductive as it puts security on alert. This is true to a degree but there are many ways to achieve your goals or to force security to abandon a target. It also informs everyone what the round will be about. People interact with you better and enjoy the game more when they know what's going on. Late Phase: Work to achieve your goals. It might be kidnapping a particular crew member, stealing something of value (sentimental or otherwise), corporate espionage, ect. I'd recommend focusing on a department that's not security or command since both will inevitably be included anyway. Use all the tools available to you. There is a lot of great gear in the uplink that gets overlooked and there's been an increase in the amount of crystals available to spend on equipment. If you don't know the limits of certain equipment or how things work then don't be afraid to experiment. Testing equipment could be a gimmick in itself and if you really think something you bought was trash you can ahelp to try and refund it. If you only buy combat related gear, don't be surprised when you get stuck in a firefight and die. If your goal was simply to have an excuse to have a shootout then congratulations but just having firefights over and over gets stale and leads to these sorts of discussions about balance. Know when to stop. This includes not just keeping track of round time and making sure things don't drag on too long, but also know when the gimmick has run its course. Good command members who are keeping the crew updated will announce when danger has passed or when the enemy has been neutralized. It serves to punctuate the end of the round and continues to inform other players. You should do the same if you find yourself on the winning side as an antagonist. Resist the urge to gloat; if you have any TC or BC left you can send a fake announcement. ahelp for global messages or faxes, or just use the radio in a pinch. One of the nice things about nuke-ops is the animation that plays for the antag victory and while killing everyone and blowing up the ship isn't something we usually want to see here, the animation definitely provides a sense of finality.
  12. Shaw sees you.
  13. Hi, thanks for applying. I'll be reaching out to you on discord to schedule an interview soon.
  14. To be fair to most players, I think people get excited over the negative interactions because of the canonicity issue. The negative consequences are usually the only ones that are observable, i.e. character death. Change in the game universe and especially agency over that change is the dopamine we're all looking for. I made a stupid mistake in Cold Dawn and luckily my character survived it. I didn't do it to seek "fame" but when the IC rumors began to spiral I didn't stop them either and I'll admit the ability to watch my reputation ( good or bad ) make waves among the crew has been one of the most satisfying experiences I've had playing on the server. I think others should have the same opportunity. I would say that we should have character acknowledgement in our lore but ultimately it should be the Lore team's call on whether or not they want to canonize character actions on a cases by case basis.
