I am tired and worn out of arguing. Some people like to do one thing, some people like to do other thing. Some like it sillier, with a bit more lee-way. Others like it more stern, structured, and orderly. Neither side is right, and probably both sides are wrong to a degree. Going to either extreme alienates the otherside, and frankly, I don't like that idea. So compromise. Roleplay is writing a story. A good story doesn't lock itself in a niche and refuse to come out. A good story knows how to use all aspects of drama. Comedy & Tragedy have been linked since the beginning of time. Horror & Heroics more so. What we need is a balance, a compromise. Anything in excess grows stale. So stop trying to have things just your way. Give a little ground to get a little ground, you know what I'm saying?

Aurora 4x is the dwarf fortress of 4x space sims. It plays halfway between an 70s university level physics simulator and microsoft excel. You can literally micromanage everything down to the second. You can spend hours deciding what to do in the timespan of one ingame second if you are really crazy. It is the zenith of complete control and requires you to be an insane control freak to just play the game. You can also build spaceships that set a planet's atmospheres on fire. You can genetically engineer humans to the point they can walk on the surface of venus. You can design and invent an entire military hierarchy system with a whole system of metals and honors.

Alright so, if you indeed understand why the ban was placed in the first place and will take action to prevent such conduct again, then I have only one minor objection to an unban; namely the fact this appeal is just one very long run-on sentience with some rather serious spelling and gammer issues. It just doesn't really help convince me that you put a great deal of time and thought into this.

There was welder fuel in the holodeck, my character walked through it with a lit cigar, it caught on fire. I wanted to see if it would catch on fire. I immediately proceeded to drop and pretend to be terribly injured, then upon realizing the fire actually did nothing to me, had my character play it off as a joke. He then casually stood in the fire for a few minutes while conversing with other people, before going back to work because somebody needed him in the medbay. This is much less entertaining then expected. As for a more serious analysis of this, I'd say that just because game mechanics don't enforce RP of being on fire, that that doesn't mean you get an excuse to just fuck around and exploit bugs. Maybe roleplay it off as it being a very low heat fire that's singeing your coat, but to just stand there going: I am on fire, how uninteresting and unconcerning, is frankly terrible RP in my opinion.

I really want to know the specific IC reason your character had for this, it sounds hilarious.

If you wish to argue that their being or not being offensive or racist undermines their arguement, then please note that it does not, and that if you wish to complain about spacevoidagent's conduct or character, do so in a seperate thread. 2: This thread is not about if what spacevoidagent posted in OOC was racist or not. This thread is about if IncognitoJesus was justified in giving them a warning regarding those posts. 3: As arguements about whether or not the posts were actually racist or offensive have been rather unproductive, further arguements must address specifically not the falseness/truthfullness of the offensiveness/racism in the posts, but if IncognitoJesus was correct in responding their his belief that the posts were offensive/racist and/or if IncognitoJesus should reasonably be expected to judge the contents and message of the posts differently.

So, can we stop arguing about if it is/isn't racist? Because it seems to me that so long as people /think/ it's racist and are offended by it, then there isn't much to debate. It's like, a common courtesy thing. Like, let me give a real life example: Old friend of mine, their father was seriously alergic to bees. Their father got swarmed by bees when my friend was young, and died as a result. Some other friends of mine were making jokes about bees (Reason why) while my old friend was standing there. My old friend tells my other friends that it's not really funny to them because it's reminding them of their father, and politely asks them to stop. I then tell my other friends that failure to stop making bee jokes will result in immediate expunging (see above for why). Everyone then makes jokes about gaint lizards. (See above again).

Harassing people is not a good thing. Making others feel bad for only your own self gratification is against the ideals of the server and the spirit of the rules. I personally won't tolerate it under any circumstances. And if it is done outside this server, I see little to no difference then if it had been done on server. It is merely a matter of your personal behavior and who you are. If you choose to be the person who harrasses and makes others feel bad for your own self gratification elsewhere, then why act different here?
