Braces. A terrifying walking Nightmare. Woe be to those who dare not brush their teeth, for their's shall be the damnation of us all.
-
Nightvision would be cooler, and make for better RP. That way, the pAI would have to tell their master what they see, and would get the chance to describe stuffs.
-
You can cheat your way to Z-2 and beyond. You just haven't been trying hard enough to get Bwoink'ed for it.

I'd like to make a joke about internet speed and Diona movement speed, but I can't think of one at the time. I'll let moom have this one. But, yes, Jenn is an Excellent Role-player. +1

[Processing] Dr. Crane's Vibrating Blue Squirrel
Tenenza replied to LordFowl's topic in Completed Items
So, I'm going to say that, one, the amount of effort here alone shows how serious this Item request is, and that it probably isn't trolling, and that to just throw it off because it isn't 'realistic' is not a good argument. As for, being scientifically accurate and keeping with the Lore, that's not my part to say. No the item isn't serious, it's outlandish in concept and makes his character look insane, but I can live with that the same way I can live with geneticists giving people powers (Which people still bitch about being a game mechanic), and Toxins being able to blow up the station. Shit is weird and can get peoples banned for abuse. Weird can be fun, but only if people take weird seriously enough to RP, without being sticks in the mud. So, you get my Pseudo +1. It's only Pseudo because I haven't actually seen your character so far, so I'll keep any eye out for you. -
The Xenoarch suit is perfectly good for what it does, which is retrieving the Artifacts and Anomalies. It provides protection from pretty much all the passive energies of the Anomalies (If used with gloves). Testing for activated effects is another story.
-
Fun fact, Excavation suits don't really do that great of a job of keeping exotic alien energies out. You want an Anomaly suit and latex gloves for that. Also, double fun, an Atmos suit is actually much better for dealing with exotic alien energies, and a mining suit is probably better overall due to it's slightly better speed.
-
Most of the dedicated Xenoarchs I know have a tendency to ask for either one of the spare hardsuits, either from EVA, Teleport Storage, or Mining.

[Processing] Dr. Crane's Vibrating Blue Squirrel
Tenenza replied to LordFowl's topic in Completed Items
But a glowing blue squirrel (Dead, 45 years, mind you) is hardly a proper variable for this test. It's nonstandard (most squirrels don't glow) has properties relating to a not entirely understood additional variable adjacent to what you are testing (bluespace augmentation), has been contaiminated by high levels of radiation, and is presumably either artifical preserved or exhibiting resistant properties to decay. If you really want to test different animals, either get cargo to order some (they've got a selection, namely, Goats, Cows, Chickens, Corgis, etc) or ask Xenobio for slimes and stuff, or ask Genetics or Protohumans, or ask the RD for Lamar (Lamar needs to get out more anyways.) I know I've been kinda skeptic about this, and a bit stubborn, but it just kinda seems like having this Item really would probably get your character psych eval'ed every other round, and I kinda don't want that to happen, because it does seem like you really do want to do science right. -
You can, of course, always talk to people about it in LOOC. Most people are fairly reasonable.
-
Tell the RD. We have a tendency to get inquisitive on people with suspicious amount of skill and training not noted in their employment records.

Is called standardization. Important to science, since it means you can use all the old data from extensive prior testing on the animals to analyze your own data. It lowers the amount of unaccountable variables in the experiment. -
Telescience is open to everyone in Research, not just scientist. Same with MiscLab. Plasma, Xenoarch, and Anomalist exist as titles because those are Scientist-only access areas. The amount of Xenobotanists, Chemical Researchers, and other Scientist-Access required specialists is depressingly low, and I doubt adding titles would help frankly.

Try like, mapping the Z-levels, becauses there's lots of hidden stuff in space beyond the derelict and the clown shuttle. (The teleport nexuses come to mind.) But, like, the thing is, the squirrel, it's just weird, and unprofessional. I mean, you have monkies and mice for this sort of thing. The Squirrel is kinda pushing suspention of disbelief regarding CentCom's policy towards bringing stuff board the station. -
List me.

I dunno about everyone else, but the item itself isn't the snowflaky bit, but the fact someone actually just carries a dead, glowing, used-to-be radioactive squirrel. I mean, that's kinda insane. I've got characters with plenty of crazy, but they usually keep it at home, or like, buried where the police can't find it. But, I mean, functionally, this doesn't really do that much in the way of making good RPz. I mean, people will be like "Holy Feces! That's a Dead Glowing Blue Squrriel." And then you'll be like, "Yeah, it's (Item_Back_Story), and (Item_Function)", and then they'll back away and call the Shrink, because that's fucking questionably insane. But, yeah. It'd be like bringing your own rats to the lab for testing. Not strictly banned, but not going to win you any friends, and is borderline unprofessional. Only the rats you take are dead, and 45 years old, and smell of embalming fluid and glow in the dark. Also, carrying dead animals on space shuttles; that sounds like something you need a permit for. Because, it's like an airplane, and carrying animals, dead or alive, is wonky. Except bringing Ian and Runtime, because the CentCom staff want snuggletime with those two as well. -
Yeah, what Tish said. I've had to deal with Axel Dezember three different times as a head, either to get him to fill out the paperwork, stop self experimenting, or stop hulking himself. (As HoP, RD, and CMO respectively.) Really, that just isn't a good type of character you want as a head.

So, it's a... Bluespace, Radioactive, Squirrel. I dunno if the station safety code covers that. -
Re: Wesley Jesse 30 year old, male Chemist. Puts me on edge whenever I order my meds from him. Make him like, 31, or 29, or 30.5. But 30. 30 is too real. Too close to the heart, you know. Or give him more flavor text. That would be cool too. Re: Ana Issek I heckle you too much in LOOC anyways, so I'm kinda out of criticisms. But, that picture is adorable.

You can't have more then 50 metal in a stack. Borgs carry metal in a single stack. Try using some of your metal, then using the metal stack on the metal.
-
I beat a Geneticist with all the powers, by standing in front of them with 50 sheets of metal, and telling them not to make me use these. I have also killed a carp with just my hands, without armor, as a Diona. I've also punched an Alium Queen, and the Pine Tree of Justice in the same round. The Pine Tree ran off to chase after someone else, but the Alium Queen stuck around for me and Delta to kill it. I think Delta and some other security officers killed the tree later. Oh, and I killed a mimic with plasteel bat, while being shot at by Hivebots. #ExoticSciences

Mike Axel still sounds like an Action Hero name. -
Whoever you people are, you are amazing. The next time I try to break Duck's record for highest pressure gas, I'll hire you people to help out.
