  1. Name: Punished Isiah "Venom" Fraser (Isiah Fraser) Gender: Big Boss (Male) Image URL: Non-joke picture: Avatar Colour: White Character's Catchphrase: PLEASE MAKE THE FOLLOWING A REASONABLE REPRESENTATION OF YOUR CHARACTERS SKILLS Strength: 4 Agility: 3 Endurance: 2 Survivalist Skill: 7 Luck: 4
  2. Your name is all over the changelogs, and you did a good job as a CCIAA when you were in the Bureau. I think it would be cool if they made you a coder.
  3. Thanks for getting back to me! I'm enthusiastic about these changes, can't wait to see how the lore will continue to shape up.
  4. I also know Ashley Long, but not as well. I can't really attest to Elohi's IC or OOC quirks, but I can give my opinions on the app. A Skrellian xenobotanist makes so much sense given how much flora they have on Qerrbelak, that it's just made me realize there should theoretically be more of those. I like the tying in of love for Diona here, since the DionaxSkrell friendship is largely a dead thing on station these days. IT would be cool to see this possibly bring it back into fashion if it works. As far as the character's personality goes, it seems kind of shallow to me. I got a good communication of decent understanding of Skrell lore, but I feel like her only personality quark is her love for plants, and the supporting features which contribute to it. It's not bad, but I suppose I wouldn't have minded to hear more about family and personal life, I feel it would've made for a much stronger character. But, I lend my support with a word of caution, you might not want to be belligerent about hatred for synths. I really like the "natural vs. artificial" theme you've constructed here in your character, in fact I think it's fantastic, but over-zealous AI aggression has led to whitelist strippings in the past. Consider me +1.
  5. This would be really interesting, I like it. Most CC announcements are just automated notices to remind people of policy which is often forgotten. Plus, central command is already linked to the stations through telecomms by a relay and by the emergency bluespace relay. If you go into T-comms and destroy only the bluespace emergency relay, you'll screw over majority of heads of staff when you kick off your antag shenanigans because they LOVE to send emergency messages instead of faxes. All in all, disabling announcements would not be nearly as effective as one would think, since back at CC we can't just announce things Willy nilly to help the crew, it would largely just prevent the automated announcements about in-coming problems. So you might get fun things like stealth blobs and surprise meteors. Having something on T-comms to destroy station made announcements doesn't really make sense. Presumably there's a PA system all over the station which head of staff request consoles are hooked up to and make their announcements when using it, rather than relaying all the way to T-comms and back. A redeeming feature in a suggestion to this suggestion is allowing antags to falsify CC announcements. If there was someway for antagonists (other than malf) to do this, it could make for some very interesting gimmicks.
  6. I wouldn't mind hearing more about the PMCs, and I am a fan of the Sino-Soviet war. A lot of people always assume that they were good friends just because of communism despite the fact that they border clashed and skirmished often. It is a shame that the monumental and insane and epic post-soviet 90's of our world is decanonized, but replacing it with mecha and PMCs.. "This is just like one of my animes!" But, I like it. Maybe the collapse of the world economy was a collapse of the war economy. :^) All in all, I think it did a good job of filling in a missing link in the evolution of humanity's space adventures. The Sol Alliance did pop up a little abruptly to my taste, but it's serviceable. Out of all this, what I'd really like is some heroes. People that can be looked back to and referenced and commonly understood, famous people from this alternate histroy. Maybe a PMC commander who lead his company to greatness, a US president who did something politically fascinating, or the first person on Mars, or maybe even some of the first and founding members of the Sol Alliance. And, one last thought that quickly popped up, why does no one seems to use PMCs in 2458? Did history repeat itself and people suddenly remember how terrible mercenaries were for everything or otherwise pick up copies of the Prince and read Machiavelli's criticisms of mercs? Or did they get bought out by the modern megacorporations? If so can we get some ties from old PMCs to modern NT ERT? Military institutions and tend to be proud of their history, maybe ERT units could retain their old company names.
  7. I'm a bit biased because you tell me all the time that you love me in OOC, and whisper sweet nothings in my ears about forcing Tajara to adhere to the uniform policy that's been effective since March 15. I've only known Helmut Kronigernischultz (Main), Stanislas von Kurgebergst (Main), PyroBOT (AI) (Copied and pasted for ease for me) and of those two mostly Helmut and PyroBot. Helmut is certainly an interesting take on the German-accented scientist, and not yet another generic nazi mad scientist impersonation. I certainly think he can hack it as a research director, if he can snap the whip at reckless and dangerous researchers. So, yes, +1. I <3 you too
  8. Well, I don't really know about Stephanie Matis, but this application sure tells me a lot about them. Synnono is one of the nicest people on the server, and easily one of the best roleplayers too. I don't think they have a single chuckle-fuck bone in their body, while also not being a stick in the mud either, and so I really think they are above and beyond the bar of expectations for a head of staff. They certainly have my +1.
  9. There is a finite list of punishments we can give out which are on a spectrum of severity. The lowest we can give are reprimands, and the highest is terminating a characters employment contract. In-between those, in no particular order, are temporary injunction (these function as restraining orders between people) temporary suspension, as well as their permanent counterparts for more serious infractions. There's also IC job bans, as well as demotions. Very rarely used, we can also reassign people as a punishment, but typically a demotion or suspension will be used instead of that. We can also have people go through anger management or sensitively training, and hand out formal warnings which can be in their character records for all heads of staff to see.
  10. I'm also curious about this. When I speak transliterated Russian, I always do it so such that an English reader will read it and be able to sound out how it sounded, even if they don't know or understand it. Essentially, I say it how it sounds with the understanding that the person I'm saying it to is OOCly and English speaker, and will have a fair shot at sounding it out or even understand what I'm saying if they know the language. Is this bad and should be done in Sol Common instead? If so, it will just broadcast the language as the standardized Sol Common pack of syllables, and to non-sol common speakers, the pronunciations of it will just be a garbled mess nothing like how it might actually sound. Or, would it be better to emote it instead of speaking at all such that you can be absolutely certain that you're conveying how it sounds rather than getting tangled up in dialects and lore languages?
  11. Hello! Player of Isiah Fraser and Shkor-Dyet Dom'Pesh here. I don't OOCly know Nadrew at all, but James Sams is one of the good ones. In the madness and chaos of modern science department, Dr. Sams sticks out like a sore thumb as s collected and professional individual. Not only is he a serious character, he also retains his creativity and often embarks upon experiments, as well as being extremely helpful to me in my past experimental endeavors when testing and learning mechanics. I think he'd make a great RD and has my beaming +1 all the way.
  12. 1. They're not light years apart, they're in the same solar system. 2. CENTCOMM can already hear station command comms from Odin which is where a lot of juicy chatter happens. They just don't listen at all/pay attention because they trust the command staff they hired to deal with the situation, and only chime in under special circumstances. Namely, a CCIA player has to be spawned in as a CCIAA to listen, so this only happens to be so when a CCIAA is on duty as their CCIAA character. 3. This is a very big and legitimate problem you've pointed out, I wouldn't mind to see it addressed. This takes the situation from spawning into a situation to having the fore-warning to just not go into it at all, and It would suck to see this discourage new players from entering the station. I think this was a very good point you made. Maybe, since ERT and Command comms are the only ones central is supposed to hear, we could try to find a way to modify the relay mainframe on centcomm to filter out all other comms so that this becomes mechanically enforced instead of roleplayed out? 4. Arrow already proposed a golden solution to this earlier in the thread wherein people would only have minutes to work with in total before they just up and despawn. This hard mechnaical prevention tool would stop people from chairing it up on Odin and not going to work, if they wanted to chair RP on Odin instead of on station they would be forced to take it into chat rooms and PMs. I'm largely more concerned with shuttle operations and shuttle times, namely the prospect of a shuttle going back and forth between the station and CENTCOMM which could theoretically ferry people back. Though, We already have that hole in our sense in that people can arrive on the arrivals shuttle at any time anyways, so it would just be a maintenance of the status quo to add some mechanical prevention for people escape the station on the arrivals shuttle.
  13. I think this is a nice solution, combined with Zundy's general idea of this encouraging new techs to be made. It gives devs time to work with any new item ideas they can think of in addition to preventing the crash in the in-game high tech item economy. Either way, there are a lot of fantastic propositions to remake research into something great, and I really like the originality of this one bringing persistent technologies to the table, even if just for a time frame.
  14. There are a lot of suggestions that come around to spice up R&D, and a lot of them would be better than what we have now. I think a persistent system like this would be cool, but, I think it'd be too easy to cap out. And then, once capped, there's the issue of having to come up with new technologies that become progressively more powerful and potent in their respective fields, and I think it could create issues by removing challenge from the game. Though, at the same time, it'd be nice to remove the feeling of senselessly treading water that R&D gives after while of doing it.
  15. You're allowed to go back and edit your original post Plenty of people do it. Gogogo! Plus I don't think it'd sink your application to lack it, since it's a pretty solid app, but it could really work to make it an awesome app.
  16. This is still correct WITH the exception of command channel. That said, I'm a really big fan of the idea of starting at central and going to station. I was never a fan of just magically spawning in the workplace. It does come with the drawback of taking up some of the time economy of a given round though. Antagonists typically have about a two hour window to create and carry out an entire plot of their design before everyone will get bored and call CT. It will be interesting to see how this changes the time-meta, and if antags feel the crunch on time to work with.
  17. Hello! This app is pretty neat. I had a few questions though. How old is Aleish'tah? Are they a boy or a girl (gender doesn't matter at all for roles in Skrellian society, but they still have it). What type of family do they have? Are they Qeblak/Weishii/Atheist? I see a lot of understanding for the lore and the personality traits are pretty well spelled out, and even match along the vein of arrogant skrell which have popped up on station, but I wouldn't mind knowing more about their history and personal life. I've only ever seen Paige Vause on server, but never really got to interact with your characters, I'll be sure to keep an eye out though, you seem cool based on this app.
  18. Yeah, it was never randomly displayed by any algorithm, rather CCIAAs randomly pick one from the template list. Hmm, you're right though. We could just as easily keep a thread up in the head of staff section or maybe even the NT personnel database. I didn't know that everyone could look at it on the WI, I missed your post earlier. So there is one place which for sure has them all that is public access.
  19. I agree with this. Some of our recent notices, from processing time regulations onwards in the list, are long and only get longer. And besides, having randomly selected in-game notices isn't the perfectly accessible way to give the subjects exposure, but if we had them listed somewhere along with other regs and rulings, it would help a ton with clarity on the regulations I'm sure.
