Personally if i were an admin, i'd ban slime releasing on the grounds of it being an exploit. Jut about everyone agrees that slimes are horribly overpowered and too hard to kill, they need to be fixed before they can be allowed into gameplay. right now they just ruin everything
-
This completely breaks the balance (and logic) of the game and should never be added for that sake, but I do rather like the laser scalpel suggestion. how so? Drones and construction borgs have a plasteel generator, but an engineering borg doesn't. he can't make reinforced walls at all
-
no it couldn't, plasma is a state of matter. Solid is also a state of matter. It's about as possible as a solid gas. Id we ever invent something that behaves like both plasma and solid, then we'll invent a new fifth state of matter to describe it

There's also a pretty decent chance some non-automated person will shove you into cryo. Nobody knows about your connection issues It does give you time. As specified the cryobot would only take peolple who've been SSD for some configureable amount of time. And once you're in cryo, there's also a 15 minute delay before you're removed far too long, pointlesly restrictive. The bot would just idle in medbay the whole round and not pick up anyone with a 5 minute timer on the bot, you have a total of 20 minutes afk time before you're removed. If you need to be afk from a game for longer than that, why are you even playing it at all? But if you do, go sleep in a bed. Done Maybe you get disconnected and intend to return, but your internet is down for the night, an d you won't come back. Should we let your corpse sit around medbay wasting your class slot and blocking someone else from it forever? An online game is about other people, not just your own comfort

Cyborgs do need alot more upgrades. Allow a surgeon droid to use a laser scalpel. Give an engineering borg a plasteel generator. Give the janitor droid an inbuilt bucket and some metal sheets. All of these things and a ton more would make great upgrades. they're severly lacking just now

I don't see an issue with phoron. It may be a spice, but that's a completely different field of influence, i don't see a conflict for reusing the name acrss spheres. Calling it plama however, is silly. that's a direct conflict, and "solid plasma" is just silly
-
Out of curiosity, can you kill slimes by starting a plasma fire?
-
looks like nobody agrees, so get rid of it

For what it's worth, it was actually the Head of Personnel office he went to, the captain was there trying to process an ID upgrade for me. No words were spoken, she got ganked from behind while typing Also i don't know what's happened, but the slimes are hurting way more now. i was in critical from one hit, and i collapsed and died shortly after taking a second hit while trying to drag away survivors. Their damage output is insane

So yesterday we were in a cortical borer round, Safiya comes out of virology and tries to inject me with something. Some RP and a chase followed, as well as inept use of a syringe gun, before she finally held me down and injected me with a virus. Then walked away, oddly. I fought it off with spaceacillin so no harm done, but the intent was clear and hostile. In attempt to protect myself next time, i made a little chloral hydrate 10u pill, and put it into an autoinjector. This is the only way i'm aware of so far, to fill them. I took the injector from a medkit, so it had 5u inaprovvaline already in it. attempting to put pills into them doesn't seem to work after they've been used up When she showed her face in medbay again acting like nothing happened, me and penny chased her back to virology before i finally managed to sedate her outside. The injector tells me injected 5u, not 15. And she just ran back into virology and closed the shutters. I didn't see her again for a while, until some players actually joined the security department, and dragged her out to get scanned (she had a borer, of course) but radio chatter during that period suggested it didn't work, she wasn't going to sleep So i'm not sure what happened here, did the autoinjector screw up or bug out? how are you supposed to use and refill these things? My experimenting with them has been unsuccessful so far, i need advice

Arvak Morekborn's Unathi application
Nanako replied to Arvak Morekborn's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Do you pick awkward surnames just to make it more difficult for me to be polite? Detective Willard "CamelCase" VarAtre is one of my most regular visitors in medbay, he's often seen picking up his dexalin prescription, and i'm often seen frantically trying to do the necessary bureaucracy to get it to him. He's often the first person I call when something's strange in my neighborhood, or there's an invisible man sleeping in my bed and stealing my radio. He's always there to help, too, and has saved my life through direct intervention on quite a number of occasions Willow was a very awesome person to have around too, slow and helpful, i liked him. I didn't know you were Anna Alvaslookhowlongmynameisdottir too, i can never type the whole thing. I should get to know her better, though she always seems to drop in when i'm surrounded by the dying, and can never talk. Great person, definitely +1 from me. I miss willard too <3 -
IHasYourNom's Vaurca Application
Nanako replied to IHasYourNoms's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I don't recognise any of your characters, so i can only comment on this application. You seem to write and present well. Personally i, for one, would be very happy to see a Vaix medical intern (Bound can be medical intern specifically, and not any higher medical rank), i've never seen that character opportunity used I really love both medbay and bound vaurca, combining the two will be fun. I'd help train and instruct you, send you on lots of fetch quests, and draft you as my bodyguard in times of emergency. +1 from me, this is exciting, and i'd love to see this character around -
civilian jobs, E/M interns, and engineers are allowed. I agree with your assertion about ranks too, they probably don't have sufficient mental capacity to comprehend a chain of command and its hierarchy. But they have an instinctual/chemical submission to higher ranking vaurca, which is probably not dependant on knowledge
-
Well if they don't try to obey everyone, then what's really the point? Only following orders from their appropriate superior officers just makes them a normal crewman, that destroys a lot of fun RP value with them. I really like having caurca around. I always order them to turn up sensors, take care of them if they get hurt, and when antags are around i usually end up drafting them as a personal bodyguard to follow me around, or to investigate scary sounds without risking one of our few medical personnel. Its fun to have someone to micromanage, and i've had great experiences with vaurca players through it.

Are medics bound by the Hippocratic Oath, or similar?
Nanako replied to Nanako's topic in Lore Questions
Another issue that's been coming up recently, RE Anaesthetic. I do always use anaesthetic by default if possible, but there's been a number of occasions of nonhuman crewmembers refusing it. Particularly Vaurca I'm not quite clear on parts of their lore, but my understanding is that their carapace feels little or no pain. Certainly, vaurca players always RP that way with me. I've sometimes offered them the choice of anaesthetic too, mostly on the OOC basis that they can chat more and see whats happening during the surgeery. Today an Unathi janitor refused sedation too, because "pain is a journey" and he wanted to chat with me during the surgery. I'd like some thoughts on this, and particularly regulations about anaesthetic too. Are patients allowed to refuse sedation? Is it reasonable to not sedate (bound) vaurca patients on the basis that they don't feel pain and don't care? -
Uhh, okay. Thanks for that. I actually came back here to reopen this thread, if possible. It seems i spoke too soon about it working well I'm seeing an issue quite often where the scanner bed and its console get their collision flipped - The bed becomes walkable, and the console becomes solid. It's not normally like this, but it seems to happen. Probably something related to grabbing and pulling people
-
Well i don't agree with that reasoning. Aurora's heavy RP atmosphere seems to tend more towards "what would be realistic in this situation", rather than what would be fun or balanced. The brig isn't supposed to be easy,or even possible, to break out of, that's kind of the point of it
-
As skull says, the 2/3rds majority rule for crew transfer is now back, and i'm very thankful for it. Butterrobber, does this satisfy you? Or are you still suggesting farther changes in addition?
-
Huge thanks to skull for taking and implementing this idea. Works perfectly now, and is making medbay a little more fun This might be my first suggestion that actually got added, yay Please move this thread to... Projects i guess? Or is that only for ideas in progress? If projects isn't suitable, then just lock and archive the thread somewhere. Maybe make a subforum for completed/implemented suggestion threads to be moved into?
-
I agree with all of this
-
I look at quartermasters with fear and distrust. They have a rather common tendancy to arm themselves and murder people I sure don't want them being given anymore power than they already have, which is a lot
-
There are so many things wrong here. Why can't the disposals be fitted with a sensor that stops them from flushing live organic beings? Make that an upgradeable disposal feature, and have all the ones in the brig and dorms given that upgrade by default. Why is there a disposal that goes outside at all? Maybe give the brig its own seperate disposals network, and processing centre

Which of you guys made this objective? that poor hat ;-;
