I would hazard this is because many custom items are small things that go in your backpack or pockets. They're only noticed if you obnoxiously shove them in people's faces by showing it off, and that's kind of unrealistic for any sentimental memento because it's something you've had for a long time, and would get bored of. The player will get bored of doing that too. This idea on the other hand, is something that can be hung up. Xulie can experiment with hanging it in various places to see where it gets noticed more, and who's likely to support or complain about it. Once placed, it passively inspires RP from anyone on the station. I'd advise giving it a custom description for when its examined, with a mildly offensive message like "'ATLAS: Keep earth safe from filthy xenos', Owned by Conservan Xulie" I know it's not my decision, but i have to say i like it for this reason. And making it into a membership card, or some other personally-carried item, would not have the same effect. It wouldn't be noticed, and nobody would care after a while. A wall-hanging poster is best, and imo the only implementation worth doing

If you ever order an incompetent doctor or paramedic to undergo retraining, i'd be happy to teach them

Please don't. It's a small thing but it's better than nothing. no, it's just annoying. it does nothing to stop anyone. The warning is completely unnecessary, and it's ignored exactly BECAUSEit's unnecessary. In almost every case where walking into the room is dangerous (like a breach inside it), the shutters will flash and deny you access anyway. I'm not sure why we even have non-flashing shutters

[Accepted] DaBurs - Vaurca Whitelist Application

The only interaction i remember with your characters was a cult round where you were antag. I saved your life twice in one shift, once after you fell to security, and then again by sheer chance of carrying a scientist, and overhearing on his radio that you were left in a vented brig. Upon arriving at medical and trying to treat you for your ruptured lung, you immediately got up, assaulted this defenseless doctor and attempted to flee by stealing my exosuit. I had a bloody lip for the rest of the shift That's gratitude for you i guess. I suppose you were an antag, but that still felt shitty Aside from that, looking at your application, the backstory seems kind of snowflakey. it's like 3x as long as it should be and imo not well written. Intended or not, you're likely to run into fairly little discrimination on aurora. The whole 'undersdog overcoming racial oppression' thing doesn't really work, and attempts ive seen at it come across as hypersensitive and annoying. I don't have a lot to base it on so ill hold off on casting a vote, but right now i'm leaning towards negative. -
I didn't know this. I have a million tiny ideas for extra tables or disposal inlets, and other things that are barely worth making a thread about. might look into doing this

It seems pretty clear that there WAS malice and forethought, but i assume he was playing an antagonist so it's justifiable. The issue here is that Drev wasn't aware of exactly when the EOR griefing rule takes into effect, and didn't think it applied while the shuttle was still docked It's my understanding that the EOR grief rule takes effect when the shuttle docks at the exodus. Drev believed it starts when the shuttle leaves exodus. Some official clarification would be helpful

looking at the sprites a little more, i'd say maybe also tone down the saturation a bit, add some more shading. but please un-bend the chilli peppers, that will annoy me for months otherwise )

What do you do when standard procedure fails? As a cadet (with literally no other security and no heads of staff on the station) i once arrested a suspect for breaking into the bridge, and found him carrying a firearm and all kinds of contraband. And then in the middle of the interrogation, i get frantic calls over the radio that another terrorist is murdering someone in the bar
-
agreed quite a lot of the time i just crowbar them open even when they're not flashing

From what i understood, it was being implied that an android is different from an IPC, so that we'd have androids, cyborgs and IPCs. I'm not seeing any distinction between an android and an IPC, they both have a positronic brain
-
What is an android then? Please DO go into too much detail, or at least more than this.

I spent half an hour looking for it. I even ahelped and got aimless to spawn as a pAI and help, they didn't find it either as far as i'm aware. If you're sure that this works, can you provide exact instructions on how to do it? Where this bioscan option appears

I like JOI, you shouldn't change it. Who cares if its a reference to something, the reference is obscure enough that most don't notice or care. Everyone thinks my name is a reference to persona 4

Being a pAI is fun, but there are a few things that could be done to improve it. I have some ideas, the amount of work involved varies. Some are simple, some will take lots of coding These ideas are made with the design goal in mind, of allowing the pAI to be an effective assistant, and make its master's life easier. But without giving it too much direct influence on the world. General Improvements. Apply to all pAIs 1. The pAI can only examine objects (shift+click) while in an unfolded form. , even though it can still see the world around it when being carried. This makes a certain kind of sense, but it's also a bit less fun, and wouldn't affect much either way. So my first idea: Allow the pAI player to examine objects at all times, not just while unfolded 2. ID scanning. A little more advanced. The pAI's master should be able to swipe their ID on it to register their identity and privileges. It should only accept the ID with its Master's name on it, and not just any ID they've stolen (because it's not a free Agent ID card). This will have a number of uses in later ideas. 3. Records Write access. After the owner has swiped their ID, and if they have the appropriate privileges to normally be able to do so, the pAI should be given write access to the appropriate records database (if it has the software for those records). So it can set people as SSD, add notes to the medical or security records, or set suspects for arrest. This would allow it to relieve the owner of some rarely-done clerical work 4. No accidental booping. When the pAI is clicked, that action should pet it, like with any other animal. In order to compress the pAI into card form, people should click and drag it onto themselves, the same way rollerbeds are folded. This would primarily protect from curious newbies who like to click interesting things. 5. Door opening. Follwing your master around in unfolded form is annoying, because airlocks won't open for you. Not even public ones which have no access requirements. The best solution here, is for airlocks to automatically scan the pAI, detect the privileges of the master's scanned ID, and open for them if their master would normally be able to open it. This could possibly be a software package rather than an inbuilt thing, if necessary. 6. Fix the medical scanner package. It's mentioned over here that a pAI with the medical hud software can use a health analyser on its master, however i've not been able to find that feature anywhere, seems like it was lost. Bring it back please. I wouldn't see any problems with even allowing the pAI to perform a deep/fullbody scan (like the scanner bed) since it can only use it on its master. New Software Packages: More things to spend your memory on. Clerical Software: By FAR the most important idea here. even if the rest of this entire thread is ignored, add the clerical software The Clerical software package would have three main effects Firstly, the pAI gains an internal database of all corporate forms, and can print out copies of any of them on demand. It could also make a digital copy to hold in its internal buffer while editing, and print that out when done. This allows it to do clerical work while in its owners pocket, and on the move. If held, printed forms will be deposited into one of its master's free hands. Otherwise, dropped on the floor. Secondly, the pAI can edit forms, as if it were holding a pen. Either clicking on ones adjacent to its master (while folded) or adjacent to itself while unfolded Thirdly, if it's Master has the appropriate privileges, it can apply a department head's stamp to a document This would allow the pAI to handle the majority of paperwork for its master, and free up department heads for more work and decision making if they so choose. Essentially allowing it to act like a secretary. if it abuses this power, or stamps things you normally wouldn't, then you wipe it Station Alerts software this gives the pAI the ability to act as a portable alerts computer, allowing it to bring up a screen and see all the atmosphere, power, and fire alerts on the station. In addition, it will also gain the same capability that AI's and cyborgs have, of recieving an automatic notification whenever alerts trigger or get cleared. An essential package for an engineer's assistant Manipulator module pAIs in unfolded form can already drag around very tiny objects, like pens. Taking this software would increase the maximum size of objects the pAI can drag. Ideally to allow it to drag around tools, bottles of medicine, plates of food, and other small but useful items. In addition, the pAI would gain an internal storage, allowing it to pick up and hold one item that's normally small enough for it to drag around. Any item held in internal storage would be dropped on the floor when it folds up again. Useful for sending it on fetch quests, to retrieve something from somewhere so you can continue working. Camera Software This software has no effect without an ID being scanned. Once an ID is scanned, this software allows the pAI to view any camera network its owner would normally have access to through consoles in their department. if the master is Supply it can view the mining camera network. If the master is security or the captain, it can view any camera on the station, the interface would be identical to using a camera console. PDA Link This module allows the pAI to remotely control its master's PDA. It can do anything there, that the PDA would normally be able to do. If it has a built in health analyser, then it could scan anyone adjacent to its master (not to itself). It could turn on the PDA light, check the crew manifest, and even read and respond to PDA messages, which would appear to the reciever exactly as if the master had sent them personally. This would obsolete a couple of other modules (Digital messenger, crew manifest, atmospheric scan), and so should have a considerable cost in RAM Communication Module Only has an effect after an ID is scanned. This would allow the pAI to both speak and hear on any channel its owner has access to (even while unfolded). Speaking is done with the normal :c :h :s :m :e keycommands, as if it were wearing its owner's headset. Should be very cheap.

The gateway doesn't really "fit" It doesn't make sense that we can't use it for evac or for despawning, but i cant see a way to allow those things without causing lots of other problems just removing it seems like the mest logical solution. Maybe replace it with a teleporter arrival point, the idea being that people would be deleported to the station by some massive station-sized longrange teleporter. one way of course because we lack the equipment on the station to send them back either way though, it wouldn't be useable for despawning

I feel this needs to be bumped. The CMO really needs their own suit. Yes, Chief Medical Officer. I knpow their job doesn't entail EVA duties, but they nevertheless have a dire need for it. 1. Medical is the highest traffic of the four main departments. Most of its visitors are civilians, and its therefore an easy target for terrorist bombers. We also have fuel tanks in the maintenance ducts. We get bombed a lot, 2. Mediocal has a big U-Shaped hallway and tons of open spaces between rooms, it's quite open-plan compared to most other departments, this means venting spreads fast. 3. We have no front door. the medbay lobby is open to the starboard hallway, when it gets vented, we do. And it gets vented a lot. People also hhave a necessity to come inside when they're hurt, spreading the venting. Basically medbay gets vented a lot, feels like 3-4 times a day on average 4. Also, virology. Viruses, that's totally our department. A suit should protect from them too The CMO is not a soldier, so their suit shouldn't have much armor, or any kind of mounted weapons. But i think he needs one nevertheless. It should be a lightweight suit that doesn't slow down the wearer much, with a built in fire axe-like thing for opening shutters and getting through windows

This suggestion was accepted and fulfilled, we had the poll, it was awesome. i think it should be closed now

I actually meant in regards to the tesla engine. i wanted to see that Meeting special people is nice, but seeing special things is unique. I only arrived on the scene after it'd blown up I didn't see much of the envoys until they started breaking down. Then about 3.5 hours into the round i suddenly had skrell and unathi with blood poisoning needing dialysis. oh, that was meee ! _o/ I did hear a lot of the messages over the radio about herding them though, it sounded like they weren't given a lot of freedom

We were directed to post complaints about last round here Quite a bit of the station was bored. While all the top brass were having their private party with shiny new tech up on the engineering outpost, the rest of the station was stuck in a 4-hour round where not much was happening. We all knew something was going on, but we never got to see it. If you're going to do some fancy pet project like that, and keep extending the round for it to happen, then you should at least open it to the public somehow I was about to cryo and ghost just to join the party, when the cries for help came in. As for griefing, the shuttle was a huge mess, i'm not sure what happened there, people just started shooting with big guns. i'd brought four bottles of kelotane and spent the flight running around injecting everyone

Being a lead developer for the race, on another server sounds like some pretty strong credentials. I'd feel guilty about not +1 ing this how do you pronounce that name though? that's going to be a huge pain to type -

Hiii I hope you'll still play aerianna sometime, i really like having you around medical. i don't think i've gotten along with anyone so quickly before I have an engineering character and it'd be fun to play with you there, too. I'd rate my engineering knowledge somewhere around journeyman now, but maybe its enough to help. i specialise more in electrics though An atmospherics specialist would be interesting, there's not many of those around. You might also like to know that engineering is pretty light on the paperwork. There's plenty they should be doing, but most chief engineers honestly don't give a damn and won't bother with it unless forced to. Definite +1 from me -
I get kinda creepy. I agree with Nana. I also think enthralled mobs should give double the blood points, so enthralling and keeping "livestock" gives a solid reward for not draining and killing outright. Because lets face it, nobody likes dying to an antag, and Vampire is one of those rounds where you won't have to. Can vampires feed without killing the victim? sounds good, i'm all for it. The vampire is my favourite antagonist due to the lack of necessity to murder people. Being a vampire slave is way more fun than being dead

Generally agreed, that's an unathi job. It should be noted though, that the vaurca lore also has them as cannibals. After major battles, the drones eat the corpses of their . so maybe eating meat is alright for them. Mushrooms are generally a high protein food, too
