A very rough draft I made of Khaled. Scars aren't realistic and need more work on them, as well as a few other proportion issues. Given this is my 5th or 6th drawing since I'm started, I'm pretty proud of it.

Sometimes thing we don't particularly want happen during the round. That's not necessarily bad. We don't particularly wish or plan for accidents, injuries and so on, not everything happens with our permission nor does it need it. You join a round with the understanding you are not the only moving part, there are other moving parts, these parts can work together, clash each other, ignore each other or even be indifferent. People have preferences and opinions. I'm indifferent on either, both can drive the narrative. Cloning does not stop people from removing you from the round. It's a tool that permits the returning of certain characters. It does not stop people from destroying corpses. It does not stop people from destroying cloning lab. It does not stop people from destroying any number of things that is necessary for the cloning process. We have round types that do not have antagonists. We also have rules, which you enforce, that covers improper escalation and unwarranted murders. Anyway, this is not much of a suggestion and more you ranting about the events of a round, having a kneejerk reaction in making this and sprinkled with a couple of insults towards a certain group of people based on their opinions, preferences and play style, none of which are necessarily a rule violation. Edit: You are all part of the same story. You log in to roleplay, people are roleplaying in the same environment as you are. This mentality is dangerous because inversely it means you can join as an antagonist and people can just completely ignore you.

Conflict and tension is part of the gameplay. While I'm not an advocate of cloning removal, it should be a somewhat cumbersome process where medical are required to prioritize things and who to clone. Cloning has never been a right to every player, it's a privilege sometimes given when the circumstances of the round permit it. The only times a death is an issue if it's in a violation of the rules, which is resolved in it's own way.

[Accepted] Borya's Wetskrell application
Faris replied to BoryaTheSlayer's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Application Accepted. Here is why: 1- The answers to the ooc questions are sound, while it does not cover everything, that's to be expected as the player gets more engrossed and immersed, they begin to catch on more cues and learn more about the lore itself. 2- The character concept from my perspective is unique and in a good way. A federation citizen with beliefs that's been shaken, fallen from grace as an idol, moved to Tau Ceti for a new life following a new belief. Honestly, sounds immensely good and brings a level of friction to the more Federation aligned citizens on station. 3- Witnessing the player themselves, both as a person and their play style, I believe there will be little to no issues from them on server with this whitelist, nor do I see them abusing aspects of the Skrell to push the line of powergaming and metagaming. 4- There's some good puns here. Locking and archiving. -
All slots filled up. I’ve had a lot of applications, I think 20 or so. Unfortunately I could not pick everyone and even went for my maximum of 6. Given this interest and depending on how this campaign pans out, I may run more in the future.

[Accepted] Borya's Wetskrell application

Why does it sound like a neat character? Why do you look forward to interacting with them? -
Did you send a ticket with your issue towards the player responsible?
-
Did you ask if action was taken or was the ticket simply not taken? Because if the ticket was taken and resolved, regardless of outcome, this complaint is invalid as it’s already been handled.

[Accepted] Naelynn Command Whitelist
Faris replied to Naelynn's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Giving you a trial. 23/07 to 30/07. Keep in mind the following: 1- Some activity as command is necessary for during the trial. 2- Any major administrative actions during the trial will possibly result in a failed trial. Best of luck. -
ParadoxSpace's Skrell Deputy Application
Faris replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Developer Applications Archives
My main issue is personally number 2. If I were to put aside your promises, when I look at the tenure and the actual evidence, it puts me in a predicament where I’m incredibly worried and to an extent uncomfortable with the possibilities of what would happen if you were accepted. This is not me saying you’re a bad candidate since I like your essay and you have the capability to write things that I find myself having difficulty writing, as I explained to you briefly on discord. It’s just I worry I’ll sit as a deputy, pushing through things about Skrell while your attention is focused on other things. Another case of Venus, which while is a nice piece of lore, is not something to do with Vaurca. I have my own plans of things I want to do for Skrell but I don’t consider them actual work that I can quote as a contribution as they aren’t implemented yet or even in the process of implementation. To summarize, your app has a pros, I think despite your heated nature, that you can be worked with as evident by the fact you’re a moderator. You have the capacity to write and some of the things you’ve written I like. On the other side, you have cons, like your ability to focus on things and not always considering the larger picture. -
ParadoxSpace's Skrell Deputy Application
Faris replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I like your essay, there are certain aspects I tend to find difficult to write about in the same way you do, I do however have a few concerns. 1- I think if you say the word aesthetic one more time, I'm going to go nuts. While I don't think there's wrong with adopting an aesthetic, it is a problem when you hammer down on the aesthetic of something minor that doesn't fit with the rest of the setting. Small details can contrast with the large details. 2- You mentioned being a lore deputy for a long time for Vaurca, but your only posted past work is a human planet that is irrelevant to vaurca lore. What have you done in your position as a vaurca lore deputy for vaurca lore? Written lore, not pr's. I have a concern on your ability to focus on a concept to actually get through with it as stating your position of vaurca lore deputy as part of your application without putting any work done for that position is concerning. 3- The nuclear option. In many of discussions on lore, I've gained the impression of your fondness for the nuclear option, while you have stated in your essay that you do not intend to do it, it is still a concern of mine that you may change your mind in the future. 4- Using your position to further downsize Nanotrasen. Skrell have a rather unique position when it comes to corporations and your hatred for Nanotrasen is quite vocal in that you mention it enough times that most of us have committed it to memory. Despite your feelings, our present setting is heavily reliant on a corporate research station that belongs to Nanotrasen. The NBT is going to happen someday where things may be different, but right now we are still in the Aurora. -
Hello, I am looking for a 4-6 players for a DnD 5e campaign. I tend to be lax on the need of rolling as my style revolves around roleplay, so rolls tend to be limited contested actions or ones that involve difficulty. I won't have you roll on what you found, so if you fight two bandits with axes, the loot is going to be axes, not longswords due to a loot roll table. Admittedly, I'm a bit picky given I've had some negative experiences as a DM. Since I put a lot of effort into campaigns, making things from scratch including any I post here. I don't care about first time players or those that aren't super experts, I'm mainly looking for people that are interested and won't be the equivalent of spectators. A quiet character can still be lively and have a presence that isn't 2-4 words a session. There is an application of sorts at the bottom of the post and instructions. What you need to know: The premise: Format to apply: Got questions? My discord or this thread works.

You’re apologizing for a very rude thread but retain everything rule breaking in it. If you want it to be taken seriously, then fix the thread, because right now you are breaking the rules. Being angry is understandable but still not excusable.

Don’t die.

Not the person that applied this ban nor a the one handling this appeal. I do however have a concern. I've had to handle you in situation in the past. What you call immature was to me was aggressive and condescending attitude. This is not limited to Aurora and expands to other servers with names that escape me right now. So, you've been around for years, how did you specifically grow out of your habits in the past two years? It's easy to accept this appeal, it's easier to deny it. Why should this be accepted putting your history into consideration?
-
These are very bad ways to address things. I found them on the recent complaints. You should not be conducting yourself in this way. Attacking the source of the argument as opposed to what they're arguing is exceedingly low. Instead of saying the equivalent that haters will be haters, argue why the reason for hate is misplaced or false. The way you are now is only supporting their argument. When there is an increment of people complaining, then it should be realized there is an issue. 1- The person that placed this complaint is an upstanding member of this community 2- I don't know why you're acting as my white knight. Cake has been in the community longer than I have and have been staff for longer than I have. The fact we re-applied together made me immensely happy. 3- You practically asked for this complaint, prompting people in others complaints and I believe elsewhere to post things in the appropriate places, which is here and got this complaint made.

Yes, in regards to your ahelp, the issue being the conduct of the officer. Your ahelp outlined an issue which I declared not to be an issue, as the action of the officer was a response to how you acted. You're arguing semantics when I'm telling you what was meant. Even if I intended to clear everything as fine, Prat can still overrule my decision by virtue of them being the admin and myself being the trial. This should be all the logs on the situation, I found some in your images to be lacking, such as the line where you tried to get out of your restraints.
-
Inaccurate. I cleared the actions of the Officer. There was intention to handle your actions but I had to leave, handing it over to Prat, which he got the following round.

The reason I avoided any mention of regulation is that I foresee that the brig will simply be filled to the brim with crew every round because if you only remove the permission to do something that’s natural, people are still going to subconsciously do it. You raise some good points, the whole versus them thing is a topic for debate that I feel through some measure, should turn it into a “we”as opposed to us and them. I don’t think my suggestion is all pros and no cons, there’s definitely going to be cons, and while the easiest choice is to maintain the status quo, I feel like we should give this chance for a test at the very least. It’s impossible for me to outline everything necessary in my suggestion, so I would be very interested in what you have in mind to improve this suggestion. Do you have any suggestions or modifications to the main suggestion as to improve it? I realize the mistake of me outlining the scenario like that, but even then, I find the opportunities in methods other than common for communication to be vastly more enjoyable, even if it’s just a few curt words to deal with the order quickly.

For the antag: 1. Steal a command radio. 2. Outsider antagonists can get access to common by default. 3. Steal an ID to give you access to station announcements. 4. Make demands to command/AI that they announce what you want announced or else. 5. Traitors could potentially buy those kind of headsets. 6. A mechanic could be introduced to illegally modify headsets. I could go on, the limit is your imagination. For the minor things: What's a party without inviting people? Spread flyers? PDA people and have them spread the word? Let command use the consoles that are spread everywhere to advertise the party? Maybe convince them to make an announcement about it? Again, the limit is your imagination.
-
We have station announcements to address large amount of people. Regular crew can petition Command/AI for large announcements.
-
People are free to carry station radios if they want to speak to their friends. As I said above, an implementation where only command can speak into the common frequency unless they swipe to make it available for everyone. Calling for help is an aspect of these changes, if that's your entire focus here, then you aren't looking over the whole change. Nobody is talking about removing headsets, you still have departmental radios. I advocate that headsets are present for everyone due to how our setting is portrayed, I simply not a fan with the common radio, and I feel we would benefit by some measure of change to encourage others to interact. Additionally, there are a plethora of ways for people to call help without counting the common radio. I disagree with your assessment that roleplay-wise, that it's stupid. As it stands, the common radio can make the station feel like a huge VoIP lobby. I attribute it to the fact people are simply used to the availability of common radio. I've played on a server that makes radios extremely rare, more rare then what I propose and people simply adapted to it by walking to people, sending messengers and so on. When I inquired and even played, it felt like there was more life in there. It's possible I'm completely wrong and that this implementation does the reverse, while I am doubtful this will be the case, we should give it a go, even as a test. You're also not wrong about the privacy aspect. But beyond privacy, is there a reason? I want to compare to scenarios. 1- You use the common radio as a Director. "Cargo, order food for the crew." They most likely will reply with an aye, maybe ask how many. It won't be a long interaction, and to me, it feels lifeless. 2- You use a holopad as the Director to call cargo. You step on it, set the destination and the call is picked up by somebody there, maybe it's a technician, maybe that person is enough for you, so you place the order, you converse on a more personal level as you're both committed to an interaction. Alternatively, maybe you'd like their superior, a Quartermaster, it takes time but they show up, you run through the motions with them of what you need and so on. Maybe no one answers, that can happen, we call people irl and sometimes they don't pick up, maybe no one was around to accept the call or maybe they were ignoring it, so you walk down to cargo and you find a reason on why you were ignored. It could be that they were goofing around, lazy or maybe they just weren't around. Regardless of what you found and why, you have a number of actions you can take. Maybe send IAA after them. Maybe give them a stern talking to. Maybe speak to their HoP? Captain? Maybe they apologize and take your order, no harm done right? I feel like in the long run, with some form of implementation that puts value into more interactive measures, we'd benefit. The reason I'm not too bothered about people making private frequencies to chat with people is because we lack a proper alternative of people communicating at range. A miner goes out to the rock and has a radio set within his suit to talk to his buddy in the kitchen? I don't see the issue with that. I think we're at a point where we can trust the community not to just use station bound radios To clarify to people. I'm not asking for headsets to be removed. I'm asking for the common frequency to be limited.
-
I think this speaks to how forgettable and redundant other methods are.
-
People can call for help, it'll just require more effort. There's still departmental radio, running away, calling the holopad for the AI to look in and so on.
