  1. I would like to recommend the following alteration to the wiki then for the qualifications. Current: At least 25 years of age, applicable Criminal Forensics degree or 7 years experience in Criminal Forensics/Investigation. Optionally: Full Cadetship to perform arrests. New: At least 25 years of age, applicable Criminal Forensics/Investigation degree or 7 years experience in Criminal Forensics/Investigation. Optionally: Full Cadetship to perform arrests. Just adding that extra word puts both career paths on equal grounds. Additionally, a brief blurb somewhere in the page that runs like this. “If your character is unable to perform autopsies, you can still contact other qualified people from other departments to help the investigation.”
  2. Double post as I just read the new wiki page. Correct me if I missed something. Their qualification is either an applicable criminal forensics degree or criminal forensics/investigation experience. Is there a particular reason applicable criminal investigation degrees aren’t mentioned? Additionally, what is the stance on characters that have previously existed as Detectives but now have access to full forensic tools, are they now expected to be able to do autopsies or is the standard the ability to at least do some basic forensic work? Or is there another stance on this?
  3. I think we should cut out the cadetship part and just say they cannot enforce arrest warrants or detain people for witnesses infractions. The only exception to this I can think of is interfering to rescue someone from being attacked which is something other crew can also do. This way the guns are only a tool for self defense or the defense of others in the rare instances of the exception I mentioned.
  4. Locking and archiving.
  5. @MattAtlas and I went over the complaint and have a verdict that no administrative action will be done to @SleepyWolf. We'll address some of the issues listed. 1- The disk to a Captain is one the most important item if not the most important item. It gives access to a nuclear device on the station which could very well destroy everyone or something else. The Captain can look at this from different angles like trying to save lives, the station, their career and so on. So it's reasonable to not call an emergency shuttle to attempt to salvage the situation. In the other end, since other command staff do not understand why it is so vital, it is reasonable for them to remove the captain from a position of power and try to leave. So here we have a clash between two groups on this station, a power struggle, which is fine and justified. 2- From what I can see, the station was elevated to code blue, if the players and observes had wanted to leave, they would've needed 1 vote more than those that wanted to stay putting aside the time frame of the second hour mark to the third hour mark. 3- Death and injury is part of the round, they don't remove from the round. The golem can be treated any number of way be it with awe, dislike, indifference. They're a step below the standard human but a step above maintenance drones and rats. If science or command wants to experiment and harvest a golem, then it's fine, that is their purpose. 4- It seems like Goldman was trying too coordinate and communicate with people, while it may not have been ideal for everyone, I did see a lot of personal interaction on their part. Given how hectic this round is, we think it was fine. The player does not seem to exhibit a history of lack of communication either. Locking and archiving in 24 hours.
  6. @SleepyWolf Did you try to use your pinpointer for the disk?
  7. @MattAtlas and I will look into it.
  8. As the verdict has been acknowledged and no new information was brought up, I’ll be locking and archiving this.
  9. @ShesTrying and I are going to break this complaint into different topics as it covers multiple things. Issue #1, the placement of the bugging device isn't strictly a bug, and people that weren't there at the time when you made the emote have no way of knowing if this was the intended placement or not. Sprites clipping into other tiles is dependent on where the item itself is placed. If you place it on the border of a tile, then it'll be selected in the adjacent tile it also covers. Issue #2, we don't believe command @Lemei @Lmwevil have acted improperly throughout the round. From what I see, they were dealt with a potential serious infraction and had no way of knowing for sure if there was only a single bug. The station being a secure research facility means that attempts at surveillance can potentially be considered espionage against the company. Security/Command investigations are not obligated to immediately establish dialogue with offending parties, even if they are consular. Add to the fact that this seemed to have been a hectic vampire round, it feels like command did what they thought was the most ideal course of action from their perspective. It might've not been ideal to @Camellia perspective but I don't see malice or bad command play, just a very chaotic round with a lot of things happening. Combing through 11,885 lines of logs proved it was chaotic. Issue #3, @Cnaym in the future I would caution you against sending links of an IR to people, just because it's an In-Character interaction, does not mean people like or support it, especially when their character is listed as an offender. It can be seen as malicious. Issue #4, we do not believe the IR to be malicious and looking into the events of the round, there seems to be retaliation by two different groups. Insults and provocation by pamphlet from the perspective of one group, spying and provocation by pamphlet from the perspective of another. Given that there was push back from both sides, it could be considered that it was mutual conflict. So unless the IR is discarded due to antagonist involvement by CCIA, it can stay as there's no OOC issue that we have noticed. Unless any new information is added, this complaint will be treated as resolved in 24 hours.
  10. Let’s avoid circular discussions unless there’s new information to be brought. My understanding is that the different sides aren’t likely to agree on anything currently so any discussion will be just repeating the same points.

  13. So based on the round logs and observation over a number of rounds, I believe that Yermak does not violate any of our server rules in terms of quality of character. Yermak while dipping into the aesthetic of a paranoid conspiracy theorist do so in a way I don't feel is obnoxious to disrupt rounds or unrealistic in that it removes immersion. The character chooses to live differently and is able to engage/discuss things with the crew. They aren't hostile or aggressive in that they cannot conduct their work to an acceptable standard and do not attack people. The cited round showed vampire interaction to amplify their paranoia especially with security trying to capture them. Even during the chase, it does not look like Yermak even resorted to using force to defend themselves, rather relying on evasion to avoid being captured. So the more proactive speaking against the establishment was something that was brought on by an antagonist targeting Yermak, and even then Yermak tried to reason with command. Going to treat this as resolved. Will lock and archive in 24 hours.
  14. You need to make a staff complaint if you want to contest the administrative action. We don't double up punishments when a punishment has already been dished out beyond some very specific cases. Wanting a stronger action to be done counts as contesting it.
  15. Just posting to say I'll give this a few days before posting a verdict. The wait is primarily to see if there are other testimonies out there from people that are related to this incident. If you are unsure if you're able to post your input here, you're free to contact me on the forums or on discord Aboshehab#0211 even if you just want to be safe.
  16. Unban appeals are for when you agree with the ban reason. Staff complaint if you want to contest, so someone else can look at it. It's been a while so some finer details escape me but at the time your ban was a joint decision between myself and others. Normally we don't care so much about conduct on other servers until it enters the area of illegal activities. Appeal denied.
  17. We've established they were mistakes, you've apologized and you promise you'll avoid doing them again the future. That still does not answer my question about why you did what you did, but that doesn't matter I suppose. Since this is your first permanent ban, you'll be given a second chance, and while you'll be viewed with more scrutiny you'll have a fair chance to show your capacity to play here by the rules and without abuse. Appeal accepted.
  18. I reviewed your notes. You have a total 46 entries, 11 of which is a combinations of punishments including this server ban. The fact that this is your first server ban is honestly baffling as the kind of behavior I read tends to be dealt with with more severity than in your case. That being said, I noticed a trend of very aggressive gameplay both as a regular character and special roles like antagonists, rude attitude with people and what disappoints me the most is that you abused your aghost verb while playing an antagonist when you were a moderator. There are also rule violations for other things but they're fairly minor compared to the issues I mentioned in the previous sentence. When I reviewed all your entries, it tells me your behavior was intentional, and done with the full knowledge they were against server rules, which by extension also done at the expense of the enjoyment of other community members. This also means there was likely similar incidents that just haven't been caught. So I present this question to you. Why did you do all of this? I'm genuinely curious on why you thought all of this was acceptable at the time.
  19. I will get to this soon.
  20. I'm denying your appeal. From what I recall, I contacted you since I wanted to know why you did certain things during the round including beating yourself in solitary. You told me a cat jumped on your laptop and caused this, but here is the thing. 1- Your cursor needed to be properly positioned. 2- Harm intent needed to be selected. 3- You had to somehow click yourself five times, give or take one as it has been a while. 4- Not sure if I'm misremembering this part, but I think you were also targeting your head. There's also this part, unban requests are for when you agree with the ban reasoning, the lying part included. If you disagree and want to contest it, do so in staff complaint so someone else can look at it.
  21. This would remove anonymity some people want when playing as it’s not hard to know who is who when the roles are made obvious and compared to the manifest. I don’t mind the idea but not in the current version.
  22. I haven’t really had the chance to see your trial in effect, so I can only commend on your standard play. A number of things comes to mind. 1- You reach out to people for ideas, suggestions and feedback. 2- You’re a friendly person and I don’t believe I’ve seen any incidents to the contrary. 3- I have seen your roleplay and believe that it is of high quality. I am positive your trial will go well and you have my support. +1
  23. Let us take this chance to talk about some of the good memories we have had. Personally for me, I've met some wonderful people that I consider myself to be privileged to be able to call my friends. Some specific occasions that come to mind in terms of some genuinely fun and enjoyable rounds on the server. The recent Tajara and King of the World arcs, which to me were events that despite it having some issues, were still ultimately successful and greatly enjoyable periods on the server.
  24. Hello everyone. We hope you are all doing well. It has been a tough year for everyone here, different people having to endure different issues. With COVID-19 and other situations happening across the world which have altered our lives one way or another. That being said, as we have entered a new year, we can hopefully look forward to better days. It is our sincere hope that the situation each and everyone in this community finds themselves in improves. This has always been the ultimate goal of this community, to provide a medium where time spent brings joy to us. The server has had good strides this year in all aspects of the staff team. The current members of staff and those that were previously with us put time and effort to improve the experience within this community, be it on the server itself or over other mediums the community interacts with. All this progress could not have been achieved without the continued support and interaction from the community itself, each stride we’ve made was a result of a collaborative effort from all corners of the community, regardless of the scale of the contribution, it all adds up to where we are today. This is not to say there have never been mistakes. None of us are immune to making mistakes, yet a good person acknowledges their error and works on correcting it. It is our belief that even when disagreements have risen over different aspects of the community, these disagreements are only the result of different beliefs of what is the best for the server. It is fine to disagree with others, but it is not fine to be disagreeable. So what does this all mean? We appreciate you. Old or new, you have all been a boon to this community, each in their own way contributing, making friends and giving us memories that we cherish. You are all what makes this community special to each of us and we are happy to have you here with us. We wish you the best. Times have been hard, we have all handled some measure of hardship this year. We truly wish and hope the best for you, and hope this community has been a respite this year. Be nice to each other. The community benefits from being friendly and inclusive. So be nice to each other, and even should any of us be rude or crass to another, know that there is nothing wrong with apologizing. Life is too short to hold on to grudges or bad feelings when it can be corrected. Even the people with the best intentions can make mistakes without malice, and it is our belief you all have the best intentions. Thank you for the good memories, and we hope that more are made as the community continues to grow.
  25. I don’t think you understand still. The ability to hand something off to someone else due to bias is a luxury. You need to be able to understand the measure of bias you may have and be sure to one as objective as possible to be fair. And the above only works if a member of staff is able to police themselves. If you see something from the lens of hyper negativity you’re liable to over punish someone or to disregard what they have to say, making the incidents you handle liable to be handled improperly. There is also the component of trust. I don’t think people can trust you in this position for reasons I’ve outlined in this post and the previous one.
