Implement a Vox whitelist

Vox in a general sense on Aurora are simply seen as antags that just follow the common guidelines of "Be very annoying, shriek a lot, and spike anything that moves slightly more than it should". Considering we're an HRP server and Vox do actually have lore based standards that should be enforced on them I personally think it is a good idea overall to have them whitelisted even though they're limited to merchant and raider roles. Whitelisting the race itself and bringing an actual Vox lore dev into the picture would allow for them to be regulated by their appointed lore guidelines. Specifically actually punishing the Vox that decide to violate the inviolate and ruin their image. Another reason this could be good is that events could even be made out of a whitelisting for the Vox, ensuring that players that know what they're actually playing and understand the race itself could fit into a more HRP scenario aside from suddenly show up, kill people, and take stuff. Recently this came to my attention while I was actually playing as a Vox during a round of Heist where we were moving aboard the Aurora to steal things and the other Vox players started shooting and seriously injuring people unnecessarily, being a player that actually understand the inviolate, seeing that happen, and being worried about being immediately ahelped because I started wailing on my fellow antag for violating the inviolate was a worry that stopped me from actually acting on it. With guidelines in place and an actual staff member to ensure the quality of Vox I believe that they could be brought into a better light and used to positively usher forward better RP opportunities with vox for the community as a whole.

I cannot agree enough.
Also, a bit of history.
the Inviolate literally only existed on Bay because Vox used to be unwhitelisted and they used to be the only race available for Heist gameplay, so it was a boilerplate method of making Vox not murderbone and be generally awful. It would not be required in any way shape or form if we just whitelisted them. We don't even need to have station Vox or anything, just some actual quality ones.

No. Vox can only exist as Merchant or Raider, both of which will happen about every 8 rounds, sometimes it might happen back-to-back if you're lucky. This also isn't the first time this suggestion has appeared here, and each time, most have said no.

A simple way to counter this is just by having the Inviolate auto-spawn in a Vox's memory, in bold red too, so the player knows to follow it.

As to this part, I think it's actually a good set of guidelines from an RP stand-point considering their fallen empire-like nature and their inability to reproduce.

Whitelisting would allow a Lore Dev to enforce their accurate behavior and would inspire other's to learn their mannerisms thereby seeing more people attempt creating them. Even if only for antag and merchant roles, the clash of this species played by quality members with the Aurora would lead to some interesting rounds. +1

This does not need to be the case, with a whitelist and a proper lore dev both canon and non-canon events could be held to actually push forward new avenues of RP instead of just forcing the race to be stuck within the "merchant and raider only" role.

Vox have always been in an odd situation.  Without a dev or whitelists and without being a playable species theres not a whole lot to do with vox. Theyre our fallen precursers atm. If we had a whitelist wed probably have an active dev and some more events with them but asking people to apply for an antag species is weird to me. Id prefer it behind some other whitelist or just give them a big make over and front page news like human factions get to inform and guide player behavior.

Hard no. I will always speak against this. Locking such rare content behind a whitelist is only going to frustrate people. If the goal is to improve the quality of vox RP we can accomplish this using other methods. Such as some sort of text box appearing when you select to play as a vox. This text box would briefly describe the nature of vox and give some general RP guidelines.

I would volunteer for vox dev right now if it became a thing. Even if a whitelist wasn't implemented a vox lore dev would still help to mold the species as a whole.

I'd be willing to add a spawn-in blurb for Vox that establishes basic RP guidelines for roleplaying a Vox. There's just not a lot to go off of in terms of the wiki, because I've seen multiple different accounts stating what the Vox lore is/isn't and there needs to be work to clear up those misconceptions.

Also going to voice my disagreement with this suggestion. Locking a species that is very rarely able to actually play behind a whitelist is just going to make it incredibly rare to actually see that species. I’d much rather see a blurb show up that gives some basic lore information on behavior and values. The loredev bit of this suggestion isn’t my department, but I wouldn’t really see it as necessary. Maybe something tacked on to another loredev’s duties if anything. They are already rarely seen, and since they don’t occupy a position in the station (other than the occasional merchant), their player base isn’t that large.

After reading this I've decided to start a vox development discord. I've began a few vox events since their last lore rewrite by alb and me but I feel more community involvement would be great, and better enforce vox roleplay without whitelisting them.
