VTCobaltblood Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 BYOND key: VTCobaltblood Character names: Robert Bretscher, Qusk Yuvuzu, Shaker How long have you been playing on Aurora?: 9 months Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: 1) People are encouraging me to; 2) I have a character concept for Command that I am eager to play. Why did you come to Aurora?: Because I really disliked Bay's setting. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I am a wiki maintainer. It's long overdue for me to overhaul the RD page. I'd say yes, but the question itself has no meaning if the only relevant and up-to-date piece of info on the RD page is job qualifications and name. It still lists genetics ffs Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? None except two notes from a long time ago. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is playing out a character in a defined setting. You do not make decisions as yourself - you step into the shoes of your character, considering how they would act. Sometimes, that way of action is not the most moral or rational. This is why roleplay is interesting to me - playing characters that are not myself. Of course, roleplaying with yourself is quite pointless. Characters really only come to life when engaging with characters of other players. Nobody should be denied the opportunity of this - all player actions should be made with character interactions in mind. If a player action cuts interaction off, it is unenjoyable. If it enables and encourages interaction, it is good. Interactions aren't limited to friendly chit-chat, and this is also something that I always keep in mind. Personally, I prefer interactions featuring conflict, as seen by my played characters. Playing a command character would prompt me to explore other avenues of interaction with my fellow crewmembers. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of Staff have unique opportunities to make characters interact. They can bring the crew together like no other job can, be it group projects, training, coordinating the actions of their department in case of stressful situations, etc. Heads of Staff also have a responsibility to respond to antag action adequately, and facilitate their influence on the overall narrative of the round. Command has the most potential to shut down interesting antagonists - this must be avoided. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I do not consider whitelisted players to have any responsibilities that all of us as players do not share. We all should follow the rules, mentor new players, be nice to each other, and be role models. Head whitelistees are absolutely not special in this regard. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? So far in recent times, Tau Ceti is fairly calm. The largest things that have happened lately is the incorporation of Aut'akh and Offworlders into NT crew manifets. Kono takes a keen interest in Aut'akh because of his passion for the mechanical, and feels largely neutral towards Offworlders. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? RD Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Kono Iuu'Sunborn, Research Director. His biography can be read in my previous Command application. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I have a lot of experience, I can say that much. Generally, I would rate it as adequate. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I have answered this above. Extra notes: If I dare make a half-joking extra note, my application will be torn to shreds. So none.
Soultheif96 Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I have confidence in VT as a command staff as they go great lengths to help people while doing their own assigned role. +1
Doxxmedearly Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 (edited) Alright, I promised more in-depth feedback, so here we go. TL;DR is that I would very much like to see VT on trial. Firstly, the app itself looks like it has the effort the previous one lacked. I know you really do want this, and now it looks like it. Great job listening to feedback on the last one. Regarding characters and RP, namely the big name from last time: Bretscher. Bretscher is a great example of your ability to RP. He is not a friendly character. He's an asshole. You are trying to play him as such, and you do so successfully. What's important here is that he is a GOOD CHARACTER, just not a good person. He's consistent, and I've had extremely good interactions with him as Hadiyya with their mutual animosity towards each other. Brestcher isn't over-the-top, self-antagging, getting fired every shift, screaming on common, racking up IRs, notes, and warnings. No, he's a realistic character with a short temper who fits our HRP environment along with other notable jerks, such as Gonzales. He has a mental illness that doesn't excuse shitty behavior or over-the-top actions, and is roleplayed believably. What's most important is that you recognize and specifically mention several times throughout all of your apps that he is not fit for a command position, and never will be. This, to me, says you know exactly what type of character should and shouldn't be seen in such a position, and you've gone on record a dozen times saying you have no intention, nor would you ever, promote him to RD. What your RP with him since your time here has shown me is this: You excel at RP in our HRP environment, you know how to make believable and consistent characters, you know how to RP annoyance, conflict, and passive aggressive behavior without it being LRP or unbelievable, you know your department, you can deal with people being rude to you/critical of you, and you know what is and isn't acceptable for a command character. In short, I feel like your characters are exactly why I think you're able to handle a command whitelist. You're one of the best RPers I know. The RD profile you listed in your previous application is brilliant, and certainly a qualified individual for the position. There's a lot of thought put into them, which tells me you're not doing this on a whim. I believe you have the abilities to bring out that character and contribute to a round as command. OOCly, I know you enjoy the server, and actively work to improve it, whether through lore or PRs as a contributor. You're not in it to win it, and would rather see the round be enjoyable for all. This is, to me, the most important quality a command member should have. I also feel like it's a positive note that you've re-applied when you feel you're ready. In this instance, I feel a trial is appropriate for you to prove that you can play a personality unlike your well-known characters. If you can't, it will quickly become apparent during the week, and the whitelist team can take that into consideration. I'm confident people will enjoy the results of you as a command member, and hope you can have a chance to prove such to those who confuse VTCobaltblood, the player, with Bretscher, the character. I also made this mistake for a few months, when you first joined, and I apologize for it. You're a great person OOC, and the community is better for having you in it. I'm wishing you the best of luck. I feel this opportunity has been earned. edit: Of course, I forgot to officially say +1 Edited June 4, 2019 by Doxxmedearly
Arrow768 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Yup, from what I have seen vtc knows how to RP and the app is pretty solid aswell. The only thing that I noticed is that the "ooc responsibilities" section is relatively thin. As head of staff it's much easier to make or break a round for everyone. You have to take that into consideration when you make decisions as head of staff

Cnaym Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Think it's easy to see why people dislike Robert and skip to thinking that this guy must be the same OOC. Well, he's not. I'd like to see the trial and him playing a different char, so far my IC experience was consistent and there was good RP in there. OOC we have no problems at all either. Realy interested to see how you will handle the mess that is science in some rounds. Best of luck with your App. +1

Happy to see you took your time to post another app. This app is not the longest or the most developed I've seen, but I know that the reason is that you developed way more the other apps... I have to say that it would have been a great idea to link your other command app since it was more developed (the first one), or to copy-paste the biography, that would have shown that you have complete interest. But well, I'm giving you my +1 cause you have no notes, you contribute a lot to the community and you are a good roleplayer Edited June 7, 2019 by TheOrleans
geeves Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 im gonna airdrop my +1 in here even though i can just influence schev to influence his shadow staff cabal to have this accepted lmao anyway, so, vt is pretty good okay, regarding characters and all. they're most known for Bretscher who's a shit by design, which is okay. i've also had the experience of roleplaying other designer shell characters with her which was pretty fun. vt's good at filling in different roles, and took command of our little designer shell entourage haha see what i did there? took command? lmao, nice one geeves yeah this is good +1

Aphelion Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Ehhhh +1? I have not had many interactions with your characters. But seeing how you post on the forums, I think you are someone who is actually genuinely focused on RP and making the round more of a good narrative rather then winning. Personally I've had a few issues where I feel that heads have played to win, so if you are all about that HRP, you'd be a breath of fresh air.
ReadThisNamePlz Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Hi, I will be handling this application, I will be granting you a trial, due to the feedback you've received. Your trial will begin JUNE-20-19, and will end JUNE-27-19.
VTCobaltblood Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 Hi, I'd like this trial extended by a bit, my sleep schedule is fucked atm so I can't play on lowpop, which is when I feel most comfortable playing Command.
ReadThisNamePlz Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I've sent this over by about 5 days, simply because I've been really really busy. I'm going to accept your application. Locking and Archiving
