wowzewow Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 also the special HUDs get antennae cause they look cool cause, you know, you can't magic special HUD powers without some techno gizmo
geeves Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 I don't think the antennae look good. It takes away the sleek feel of the glasses. Post some on-mob screenshots as well.
MattAtlas Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 I personally do not like the antenna at all. It takes away the main factor of why people use the hudglasses: because they're sleek and look cooler than the hud. Also yes, on-mob screenshots.
wowzewow Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 ...also apparently you cant see the antenna from the side anyways cause the hair's above for some reason
Cnaym Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Really like the antenna. Makes sense to me. Good sprites would love to see them ingame.
AmoryBlaine Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 No antenna pls. It looks better as tinted glasses with all the tech gizmos being so small they're in the arms.
Carver Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 (edited) No, my scouters! My only concern with the new base HUDs is they look too much like the aviator HUDs. Wait, I'm retarded, you didn't change the prescriptions. They just always looked... very, very close to the new aviators. Edited January 12, 2020 by Carver I didn't look closely.
Doc Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 The two different lenses having two different colors looks weird as hell- not in the good way. The antennae compromises the ability to tell if someone is wearing a headset or not, and also just kind of looks bad- this is why original HUDs were replaced with HUDglasses in the first place. Besides, if you REALLY want the antennae aesthetic, you can wear a bowman headset. If you want to make bowman headsets more common, have at it, just don't force anyone to wear this antennae thing if they don't want it.
furrycactus Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I don't like the antennae on the aviators either, the appeal from them is that they look like regular glasses but with HUD functionality as well. If people want the antennae then they can just wear a regular HUD.
Kintsugi Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Can we get a pic of someone wearing the prescription eyeglasses?
Carver Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 The thermal aviators shouldn't have an antennae. They're meant to be a stealthy choice.
Doc Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Just now, Carver said: The thermal aviators shouldn't have an antennae. They're meant to be a stealthy choice. Technically, they should keep the antennae, as all of the hud-aviators now have the antennae as well. They also shouldn't have the red tint; they should be green, like the mesons, as they're intended to be disguised as mesons. You should only be able to note something is off when you actually put them on, look through them, and see it is thermal vision instead of mesons. This makes me wonder why the item doesn't just use the meson icon, though...

This makes me wonder why the item doesn't just use the meson icon, though... They're not intended to be disguised as mesons. Having bought the current version before, their lenses are (uniquely) red with thermals on and untinted with them off. Intending to mimic the basic aviators, when the thermals are off.
Doc Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 This is extremely weird, considering non-aviator thermals are very intentionally disguised as meson goggles. Aviator thermals are just inferior to normal ones in that case.
Carver Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 If they function as sunglasses when the thermals are turned off, then they're actually a very valid and potent sidegrade. Flash protection shouldn't be underestimated. Meson disguise is also worthless for anyone who isn't a Miner or Engineer, as someone will quickly notice anyone else seemingly wearing mesons for no particular reason.
NewOriginalSchwann Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 I've seen them in-game, and I must admit that they look awful. Why did you make the aviators opaque? They're no different from HUDs now.
