[Accepted] Stev's application to let him sit in a big boy chair and do paperwork all day

BYOND key: steviii
Character names: Command: Amanda Prince, Jarred McLellan. Normal: Andrew Robertson, Amelia Karrith, Chris Dobson, Josephine Pearce, T.E.R.A, A.P.E.X, Flynn Cassidy.

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: 2-ish years
Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: In my opinion, command just opens up a sheer quantity of opportunities for RP that’s unprecedented by anything else. Things like communicating about what to do in an antagonist round, or organizing pool parties in a slow extended round.
Why did you come to Aurora?: I wanted something that was high quality and high roleplay. I started out playing on bee, and I still have vivid nightmares about it.
Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes.

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: I think my only permanent note was when I was trying to communicate something OOC in binary chat. It was before LOOC was added for synthetics.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is about putting yourself in to another body and interacting with everyone inside of that world how your player would. Roleplay is amazing as an escape from reality, or just a way to play as something other than yourself. I play roleplay games cause it allows me to connect with other people and play in a virtual world as anything I want. (Within the limitations of the program, obviously.)

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, in-game?: a member of commands job is to act as a guiding hand for a department. They’re in charge of various things, like Teaching new players in absence of another person to teach them, Making sure rounds don’t drag on by doing things like calling beacons and evac shuttles, communicating with each other to make antag rounds more interesting for everyone. A good command member should act as a shining beacon of what to be.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A whitelisted persons job OOC is to act as a competent beacon to new players and pro’s alike. They’re in charge of making the whole whitelisted playerbase Look good. Obviously a member of command shouldn’t be griefing the station, as it would, one, break the rules, and two, shine a bad light on the command as a whole and likely scare away some players from being interested in aurora, or the whitelist.

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? My intended character, Jarred McLellan: As a solarian consular, the more intricate politics of Tau Ceti are not as important, since he both lives, and normally works outside of Tau Ceti space. The main things that affect his career are things like the situation with the invasion of frost, as it caused him to flee from Tau Ceti for a year amid interstellar backlash. With the events of the crisis in little adhomai, Jarred has since grown a slight distaste for tajarans. He tries to keep it out of his work as much as he can, so he doesn’t get fired for xenophobia. (except he’d probably get promoted)

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?: Likely everything other than CE, RD and CMO, at-least once. The main ones will be HOS, HOP and Representative, Sol specifically. I want to play representative cause I really feel that no one ever plays it, especially as Sol. I’ve in my two years of playing, likely seen a solarian rep once.

Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.:
Solarian consular officer, Jarred McLellan
HoS, un-decided.
HoP, un-decided.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Probably a 7-9. I get a bit worse on certain days, especially if I’m tired or otherwise distracted. I've gotten a few people saying I'm better at roleplaying on certain characters, like my bartender, as I'm a lot more solitary and less good at roleplay on things like forensics and robotics.

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. I’m hoping that will never happen though. but if it does happen I will absolute accept it and not make a fuss or anything.

Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes, less so for HoP, as I last read it a few months ago, but I simply have to read up on it again.

Extra notes: yes, for anyone wandering, I did accidentally post this without any of the answers, cause I’m an inept moron.

I've seen Robertson in some fairly hectic rounds, often where I am his head of security. I have no complaints about him, and believe Stev is able and ready to assume a command position. This application has my support, and I wish you the best of luck with your trial.

+1

I've managed to work out my skill as a forensic technician. its getting people to shut the ever loving fuck up and stop screaming in hectic cult and merc rounds

Actually threw a birthday party for me together with Zati. +1

I feel like he conveys his disdain for some of the shenanigans my character Pewter does in a realistic manner  yet also recognizes that he is a somewhat decent officer.

He plays it very well where he copes with some of the negative sides of his co-workers like you would in real life instead of going absolutely ballistic when one of your colleagues does one thing you don't like.

I have to say, that birthday party was one of the funnest things I've done in this game. except for all of the depressing-ness you spouted

Trial starts today and will end in 7 days. Try to get as much feedback fro your command play as possible.

What's the bare minimum amount of feedback, and can people who've +1'd prior to the trial do it again?

There is no bare minimum amount of feedback required. I will read whatever feedback has been given to you during your trials, ask other staffmembers if they have seen something noticeable, check your notes if you did something and then either accept or deny your application.

Yes, people can do that, as long as they give actual feedback regarding your command play and not just a "+1 Liked your non-command chars" again.

I am a bit wary by what I saw of your play as a Head of Personnel. After asking for help in opening the door to Science over the public comms to drop off some slimes, you walked over, stared at us, pushed the lockers out of your way and walked off, later getting snide over comms' when I later asked for you personally. I understand missing my request over comms however I think: "Are you intending to actually finish that sentence?" is inappropriate as command.

I very literally just missed your message. There were other messages in command and stuff. The "are you intending to finish that sentence?" Was a legitimate question, that I apparently worded badly.

You were only around for like 30 minutes at the end of a round I played Chief Engineer in, and we only interacted for a few minutes. But in the time you were there you didn't set off any red flags and were pleasant to converse with.
