geeves Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Pretty simple PR this time. I'm renaming Emergency Medical Technician to First Responder. I think it fits the bill better and gets rid of the ambiguity of whatever EMTs know vs what they would know IRL and all that nonsense. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/10453 Lemme know what you think. And no, no alt titles will be added. Unless a large amount of money is deposited into my paypal.
NewOriginalSchwann Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 First responder is a good name. "Emergency medical officer" is way too military-sounding.
Zundy Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 (edited) Interesting because a first responder has special state allowances (police, EMT) which elevates them above the citizenry but the medical officers do not. ? Edit: But yeah first responder sounds good. Edited November 4, 2020 by Zundy
stev Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Like this change a lot! Brings EMT in line with the other movements away from IRL specific terminology. I was gonna put that it might be worth considering making it 'Medical First Responder' for clarity, but realised that was dumb since it's less concise and made redundant by the fact they're in Medical anyway. @Geeves I +1'd your project, send me the foot pics
Haydizzle Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 Please try to limit shitposting on a serious suggestion. The name change is fine. It being shorter than EMT when written out is a plus too. Might be misleading for what the role actually does
WickedCybs Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I do agree with Haydizzle that it could be a bit misleading, but as long as it's not used as a reason to redefine what they're allowed to do It's alright with me. We just got clarification they get to have the responsibilities Paramedic used to have again, after all.
