Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 (edited) When we repeatedly vote for secret we typically get a brash of repeated roundtypes. It's getting really lame. We should have a check that doesn't let roundtype repeat one after another. Currently we can have days like, Ling. Ling. Ling. Ling. Ling. Ling. Rev. With 4 hour rounds that's more than 8 hours of changeling. It's silly!!! In this new system we'd get in the worst case a day like, Ling. Vampire. Ling. Vampire. Ling. Rev. Ling. Hackie Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Sounds good, having paranoia twenty times in a row really rustles my jimmies, and just isn't fun. You play Mixed Secret for variety, not the same shit every round.
ben10083 Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 I agree, repeated round-types stink. Props to using a comic to illustrate your point.
Saudus Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 We just had two extended in a row rolled as mixed secret, is a bit of a... dud... it feels like. The shifts were bQv-cS9v and the one before. +1 on making the random roll prevent similar rolls.
DrHobo Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 We generally need more diverse roundtypes (#bringbackmemes?) but yeah I'm all for this cause Dilbert ftw and all praise Senpai! If it's just checking the last roundtype then if rolled again then roll again until not, might be easily implemented and could still end up ling, vamp, ling, vamp, ling, rev, ling, vamp. +1
Scheveningen Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Or just do what I suggested and roll all of the game types into a single secret rotation so we don't have to worry about this. This rarely ever happens when the server votes for the regular secret rotation.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 maybe we want some spice in our life, delta. This isn't asking to lump or change or alter the game modes, just preventing them from repeating.
TrickingTrapster Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 The only criticism I have with this is that it's really easy to meta it. "Oh, we just had crossfire so we won't have to worry about mercs or raiders." Other than that, it sounds good.
Butterrobber202 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 The only criticism I have with this is that it's really easy to meta it. "Oh, we just had crossfire so we won't have to worry about mercs or raiders." Other than that, it sounds good. yeah but. It still doesn't stop, Siege Merc + Rev. so you could still get Mercs. anyways.
Munks Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 The only criticism I have with this is that it's really easy to meta it. "Oh, we just had crossfire so we won't have to worry about mercs or raiders." Other than that, it sounds good. This would be abused no more than "Oh, the possible round type list everyone is shown on roundstart doesn't say crossfire so we won't have to worry about mercs or raiders," is, though.
Coalf Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Yeah sure might help a bit, people are still going to be upset over not getting the gamemode they wanted but that can't be solved really. Or maybe people could vote the fucking round they want instead of picking secret like the centrists fucks they are.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 exactly. If there is a burning passion within the players to repeat a changeling round because it was so amazing and they want to double dip, they can vote for the round mode. Secret repeats are a pain in the butt.
Saudus Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 food for thought. That seems quite good, although you could be more heavy handed than that to be honest.
Fire and Glory Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 food for thought. I would prefer something like this.
Munks Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Please let us stop having back to back to back Wizard rounds
Fortport Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 If this flies, random rounds would be more varied and a lot could happen in a day of SS13. +1
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 food for thought. That still provides the possibility for back-to-back rounds of a similar type, which we have collectively agreed can get REALLY annoying. I PREFER a hard stop but I think a soft buffer would work well too.
