BYOND key: Worthy

Character names: Lily Hawkins, Lia Otis, Aella Quinn, Farah Malik, Reina Aikawa, Stella Alice, Echelon

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Around three months.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because it looks fun to play a Head of Staff. You carry a lot of responsibility but also have a plethora of options on how to influence the game open to you. This larger impact on the game sounds fun to me.

Why did you come to Aurora?: It was the first server I joined and since I didn't see anything wrong with it I figured I might as well stay.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I think roleplay is the act of telling a story through impersonated characters. The main thing roleplay should be about is providing entertainment to all those involved.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: First and foremost I think the purpose of any Head of Staff is to make sure their department runs smoothly. Secondly I think it is the duty of Head of Staff to try and facilitate a fun story. The interactions they have with antagonists can heavily decide what happens on station. They usually play a major part in how the round progresses. Thus I think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is sharing partial responsibility in making sure antagonists and non-antagonists are able to enjoy themselves.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:

Whitelisted players should serve as an example on how to act in their specific roles to other players. This is done by following the server rules to a tee as well as properly following all in character protocols.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Victoria Kensington

Character age: 45

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Victoria Kensington was born into an affluent Biesellite family as an only child in 2414. Growing up in Mendell City high expectations were placed on her by her family. She finished highschool at the age of 17 in 2431 and went on to achieve a bachelor degree in business administration by the year 2435. After finishing her bachelor she joined the Sol Navy, specifically the Officer Candidate School graduating with the rank of Ensign and entering active service duty. She would serve for the next ten years, her career and tour of duties being relatively calm, but that didn't stop her from conducting her service with exemplary distinction, always shooting high. Her sense of duty and ambition, a major proponent to her service, instilled to her from a young age with by her parents helped her with this. Leading her to eventually be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

With her eyes on higher horizons, she decided to further pursue her education, so she filed her papers was honourably discharged per her request. With her military career behind her she decided to return to Mendell City, where she felt she belonged, and attained a PhD in business administration which took her four years getting her degree in 2449. With her eyes set and ambition unquenched, she set her eyes on the Galactic corporate giant, Nanotrasen. She went through hiring process in 2449 where she was hired into the prestigious position of Head of Personnel, which to her was merely a stepping stone. Ten years later, filling papers and shaking hands as time went by, she was promoted to the position of Captain, now entrusted with keeping Nanotrasen's interest and to manage some of their most vital and important facilities.

What do you like about this character?: She strikes me as very dutiful and diligent with a bit of an elitist flair. This makes her seem fun to play to me.

What do you dislike about this character?: I feel like she might be a bit snobbish and elitist, which could alienate her slightly from the crew. Thus limiting how much socializing she'll do.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She's got the right qualifications for the job and generally has a very correct and professional attitude. Along with her sense of duty and loyalty to Biesel itself.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 6/10 I'm still incredibly new to roleplay, as my time on Aurora is the only time spent doing so.

I do enjoy playing with Lilly Hawkins, but I have no interactions with the other characters. Your answers to the questions hit all the points, I think. However, your backstory has a problem in that one cannot just be hired as a captain. You need to have worked for NanoTrasen for ten years, I think.

I really like the character Aella Quinn. Very good character to share the round with, very useful Officer. Worthy is very capable- by my standards- to be a Head of Staff.

There, should be fixed now. Thank you for pointing that out. Bit of a late night oopsy.

HoP requires ten years in a department related field, did she get that in the navy?

Yes, naval officers manage their respective units and with them the administration and logistics of the former. That combined with her PhD in business administration and her eventual military rank would give her more than enough experience to be a Head of Personnel.

Well well well, it's taken my a month to finally get you to actually go through with this. My first interactions with Worthy were with their Detective character, a fleshed out Detective with a fleshed out character that was pleasant to play with, they would go on to create more characters such as Aella Quinn, a staple and backbone of Security when ever they're around, another well fleshed out character with a background story, motives, quirks, habits and a bunch of things that makes them feel "real" instead of being a cardboard cut out. Had I been doubtful of their ability to roleplay properly, believably and in a way that is fun, I don't think I would've let them play the daughter of Raymond Hawkins.

You application as a whole isn't very verbose devoid of fillers when it comes to the OOC answers to things, these answers are short and direct yet they still cover the kind of things I like to see in an application.

Now, do I support them? Yes, I think they'd be a fun addition to the pool of whitelisted command players. So you get a +1 from me.

You're not worthy.

I have been playing with worthy for quite a while now, and I have seen them play multiple departments and quickly master them in days. They are strong RPly and they are very competent mechanically. I enjoy roleplaying with them, and I have seen many other players enjoy roleplaying with them. I believe they will have no trouble playing as a captain.

In many of their security characters I have witnessed them thrive in high pressure situations. I also believe they have fully fleshed out this new character and I look forward to playing with them more!

And with that I +1

I recognize more than 50% of these characters, and all of them, from what I gathered, have done well in regards of character and RP both. As Abo said, the OOC answers are short and to the point. Worthy is, excuse the pun but I just had to, worthy of the whitelist. +1.

While I don't so much care for Lily as a character, (she kind of comes off as a damsel in distress and i keep seeing a lot of creepy hos' taking that as erp bait and hitting on her for days on end), I know that Aella Quinn is a great addition to the round each time she shows up. Compelling and subtle backstory, consistent behavior, competent af, Worthy's got my full support for the way he plays that character.

Well she's a great detective partner, i know that much. She takes her job seriously and (oh i'm not alone in this, appreciated) tries her best to maintain paperwork. As for her characters, i've seen some Hawkins and Otis in the background doing a decent job, but never really had an opportunity to trully interact with them so i can't be a judge of that

Having most of my experience with their security characters, Lily Hawkins and Lia Otis, I can support the fact that they have great role-playing capabilities and have well-defined characterizations, as well as being capable of handling the rules and expectations that would come with the whitelist. +1.

I've played with Worthy's characters fairly often, and I have to say, the OP takes their duties seriously from an in-character perspective. I've never had any issues with any of their characters, and honestly, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to give'em a shot.

I do hold some reservations for a position like Captain, but aside from that, it's a non-issue. They're nothing worth voicing. I'll happily give this a +1 support.

I've had plenty of interactions with Lily Hawkins and observed a few other of their characters while ghosting, thus I'm not concerned about your roleplaying capabillity.

As always my biggest concerns regarding Head players stems from an out-of-game problem, salt.

And I can say that in your case I'm not afraid, all the interaction I saw with you in OOC was either completely calm or none and for someone who's played for quite a while this is pleasing to see.

The story is meh, mild nothing too spicy but that is expected from whitelist applications since people don't want to take unnecessary risks.

So reagarding your head application, I'd say you're, worthy.

I've seen many of Worthy's characters and I've seen how he plays them. All of them are excellent, with the most notable in my mind being Lia, Aella, Lily and Echelon. I don't feel like I need to say why since it has been stated multiple times in the thread, but Worthy is a really good Sec player and all of his characters have personalities that I can like. OOCly, he's a pretty good person. Echelon is one of the few non-humanbot cyborgs, which is actually refreshing to see every once in a while. Definite +1 from me.
