  1. You can also RP in your departments, which is where you'll find the majority of the crew without a bar.
  2. Whilst it would be lovely to have everyone having pretty little records, there is a certain pleasure to be derived from seeing the ones detailing someone's fourty man murder spree on Luna and how they're under investigation for it whilst working for NanoTrasen.
  3. Heh, shouldn't this be lbs/kg or something ? I'm stupid, hold on whilst I fix it, Done. Tell me if you catch anything else I messed up, I'm going to go fix my text files and server records now.
  4. +1 Seems like a sound balancing idea, though I will say: This is the most disgusting thing I've read all week.
  5. Any questions? Ask below or PM me directly and I'll try to respond in a timely manner. [RESERVED]
  6. TODO LIST: Antag Exploitable Examp/Exp/Blank I wasn't satisfied with some of the formats provided, and opted to create my own here partially inspired by various different kinds of real world corporate/police/medical records for my own characters and decided it'd be dandy to share them here. I'll provide base formats that explain what each line is for, as well as example forms, then finally blank forms. This entire thread will be updated as time goes on whilst I clear my own premade records and ready the forms for here. Advice: Some of the lines in a record too much detail for you? In my own laziness, I have that covered! Just place the following under the line you opt not to fill, though please don't do this for something simple like Name/Gender: [ERROR: Records currently unavailable!] Employment Record Example: Employment Record Explanation: Employment Record Blank Form: - - - Security Record Example: Security Record Explanation:
  7. Okay I'm not at all familiar with how those games handle fluctuating internet, which was usually the greatest cause of SS13 having this kind of lag for me. Do some speed tests during the next time you play/observe SS13. http://speedof.me/
  8. What other online games are you playing that do not receive any lagging effects whatsoever?
  9. Emagging it should also give it a flamethrower as it's "special weapon" to match the other various emag-only items (Shock baton for construction/miners/engies, laser gun for sec, energy sword for standard, etc).
  10. No, not that, I've seen more offensive than that.
  11. The sheer amount of possibilities to learn new things aboard a space station is astounding, especially for folks who've normally worked planetside their whole life. Space is an adventure.
  12. No, not really. And neither cult nor rev are forced. They haven't been forced conversion for a long time. First, you underestimate people. Truly. Second, Cult is forced. You either suffer incredible amounts of burn damage for saying no that can be spammed to kill you, or, you're forced into a construct from which the only escape is ghosting or purposefully being really terrible at your job when you're inevitably sent to kill someone. Might I add being made into a construct permakills you, too. Everything about Cult recruition is forced aside from the people who purposefully seek and join them so they can put security to the sword or summon he-who-ends-all-rounds.
  13. Why would anyone drink alcohol which doesn't have mental effects? How often do you see people ordering soft drinks currently? It's a rare thing. People only drink if they're drinking alcohol. We have a wide swathe of nonalcoholic beverages that are almost never touched Same reason my uncle likes to eat fancy food despite not having a sense of taste or smell. It reminds them of the real thing. I also didn't say we'd be getting rid of it entirely, one can still order it/make it from botany,chemistry/drink with a head if the faux-booze isn't satiating them. I'm merely suggesting an in-between to please both parties. Keep the bar, get rid of the non-existent 'drunk problem'/'realism problem' people seem to complain about.
  14. I'd take the time to learn Engineering solely to uphold that promise.

    New Mobs

I'd love to see traitors assassinating the Captain with a poisonous snake. +1
  16. As long as they removed the forceful conversions via flashes in Rev and it's just the purely RP-Rev verb-based method of "Would you like to join the filthy revolution, yes/no" then this sounds dandy. More interesting than cult, atleast. For the above, if you can't recruit anyone then you need to work on your charisma, it isn't difficult to rile up the crew over the smallest shit as everyone has an inherent greytide mentality inside them. Forced conversions will just lead to people getting salty.
  17. As I said, you don't have to kill the bar if you want to get rid of 'drunks at the workplace', just make all the bar-vended beverages non-alcoholic reproductions of the real deal ("synthahol") whilst keeping the real deal accessible in cargo, chemistry, and the lockers of each Head of Staff; because every Captain deserves a bottle of wine for celebrations whilst every CE deserves a bottle of scotch for the same.
  18. I mean there are entire servers dedicated to adult content of a far more offensive nature than 99% of adult books I've seen in SS13, said servers being publicly accessible too for several months on end. I don't think limiting adult books or a non-PG-13 stuff as a whole is really required considering this game is a murder simulator where you can tear out and eat the still-beating hearts of your enemies then tear their waifus apart limb by limb.
  19. People go to the bar because you can always have a drink, but you can't always eat. Nutriment is quick to fill and extremely slow to drain, whereas alcohol drains quite rapidly. There's a reason the Chef only sees visitors maybe two times a round. If you want to remove the drunk aspect, take a good idea from Star Trek and have fake booze (synthahol), tastes like booze but no bite.. Might be a bit harder to bullshit it's existence without replicators but whatever. One can always have Cargo able to order the real deal, and have each head keep a personal bottle for celebrations.
  20. Can guarantee you if the bar is gone noone will leave their department.
  21. Cigarettes have stress-relieving properties for humans, alongside an addictive nature. Neither occurs for robots unless for whatever reason they have some kind of organic brain that they choose to dump chemicals into via implants when they smoke to fool them into an addiction or some such... Which sounds interesting but unusual.
  22. You say this, but Commander sticks Calling someone Head just sounds stupid. Writing acronyms in what's supposed to be a representation of spoken words, seems even moreso. And nobody types out the full title most of the time. 'Head of Security' just plain does not work. If you don't want people to use commander, suggest a third option Firstly, that's exactly what they are, a head of staff. Not a naval officer, not a soldier, but a head of a department aboard a corporate station. Secondly, look at one of the best examples. CEO. Chief Executive Officer. I'd be willing you bet you a fair number of people don't even know what 'CEO' stands for. Yet it is the most common way to say the position. HoS is also used more often than you'd think.
  23. An EMP is not a tool to kill, it is a tool to disable Security's big three threats. Stuns, cameras, cyborgs. It's sole purpose is to give antagonists, who are primarily ballistic-based, an advantage against the rather tech-heavy station by stripping them of their weapons. It only went from a tool of disarming to a tool of killing when robolimbs were added, and then when they removed the explosive factor (Unless you specifically use a method to reenable it), it went back to being non-lethal. I am of the opinion it still shouldn't kill, but instead should stun synthetics. Have it drop IPCs helplessly to the ground for thirty straight seconds, have it paralyze people with synthetic organs or even put them in a coma in certain cases, no matter what it still shouldn't do /lethal/ damage to either of these things. Then it simply becomes an effortless method to kill.
  24. Holsters spawned via custom loadout should be exempt. Weapons are already saved by the cryo computer iirc.
  25. Not really, the only way you can reliably do it is via that method. If you want to be thorough, you're going to have to dedicate a good 20-30 minutes to trying to break anything new or different. Most people skip detailed testing phases, and this is why things can quite often break with major code alterations. My advice, have fun whilst doing it, if you just rush through it you're going to miss more details than you otherwise would and skipping it entirely is a poor decision. There's really no way to speed up the server startup either, so one just has to get used to it.
