1. I think people would actually like snake people because snake people are pretty popular on the internet. However, how we had snake people was completely silly and the tails were too long. Like insanely too long. They reached ludicrous levels of length. And I, with no experience coding in byond, blame the tail length for crashes.
2. Yeah traitors working to Rev to take over the station seems a whole lot more likely than cult and rev working together to even get a glass of milk. I fully support this idea and hope it is taken under consideration, even if it's not something that will be immediately acted upon.
3. Jane Pyre's alright in my experience. I haven't had too many but you seem like a solid RPer and OOC you seem fine. Now onto your whitelist itself. I REALLY LIKE THE IDEA OF CINDER! Wow an IPC baseline that's old and wise, having more connections to organics than most of our Shells would sounds awesome. I can tell you put a lot of thought into this. I like the work on the experimentation and the like. Also I've always enjoyed the ideas of robots on "soul" searching quests. +1
4. I don't think people want to reduce down to something below 20, but maybe you know something where you can't rebuild the station out of pizza. Even though that sounds delicious.
5. Command assistants can already be a thing with HoPs. I really don't think adding or removing anything is necessary at this point. We really just need to look at how people treat assistants poorly all the time and stop.
6. M.A.K.E. is a good bot. Definitely one of my fav IPCs on the station. Feels more like a robot with quirks, as opposed to a metal human. Also its mannerisms make me think of a dog sometimes. I like dogs.
7. I would also like to point out our security department is not a police department.
8. Chapman seems like a good chap, man! don't tell jboy Anyway I think Chapman's a pretty alright char and you are a pretty alright player. From what I've seen he's a HoS that gives a damn and takes his job more seriously than "REMOVE CONTRABAND!" It's nice seeing a HoS knowing he will actually try helping anyone out if they seem to be in a bind that requires security. He'll do dirty work himself and responds to messages. Plus he takes good care of Lt. Columbo and that's a major plus. Cept for the time you allowed that wizard to kill columbo but I guess it was honoured combat so that's alright... Those are positives. Now for negatives. First his accent infuriates me to know end, but I guess that can also be a positive because you actually go with an accent and stick to it. The retcon for new map is honestly worrisome to me; however, I feel that's something best settled in PMs/DMs. I do understand your partial reasoning for it, but do not agree with all of it and don't want this section turning into a debate where neither side can win. I'll leave it at that. Uh, and that's it for negatives. One joke one and one more or less personal grievance. All in all I think you do pretty good. Keep it up.
9. Then if something is very powerful and easy to get, wouldn't the next logical step BEFORE removing it be: make it harder to get?
10. Reassigning assistants to intern roles is great. Double so if you can help convince them to work on records in the process, with maybe an LOOC nudge or something. Plus the reassigning of assistants is why I'm not too worried about the current intern limits. If someone shows up a little late one shift as an assistant, but they have the records to work as an intern, I don't see many HoPs ignoring them.
11. As a guy who plans on bringing some people who are very new to SS13 in, I would love more intern roles. However, I am not really for removing assistants on the basis, there really isn't much reason and as Lohi said it would be very difficult. I will also go back to what Berry said "server mentallity." However, before I really go into that I must first tell DatBerry to go eat a cactus for playing an almost stereotypical bald assistant and then whining about it for months. I love you Berry and I love what you turned Rob into before you deleted him, but seriously sometimes you took it too far and it got old. Still you and others have made some great points. So first let's go into "There isn't much reason". Assistants have very little access to anything on their own. In fact they have no specific work station, they just wander around looking for something to do. Sometimes in their boredom they do silly crap. Sometimes destructive. I've found this to be very true for new players in general no matter their role. If they aren't constantly doing something, their mind wanders and they can do some very borderline dangerous stuff. Another thing is with the Assistant slot open, we have a place where the worst can go without having access to engineering, security, science, or medical. We can more easily contain the shitty Assistants and look to find jobs for the ones who actually want to help. Now for code. Lohi explained code and I don't understand much code. Good job Lohi. Finally server mentallity. As a new comer, this server has some very strange mentalities. I won't go into all of them, but one major one is the inbuilt belief that all Assistants are bad. We all have fallen victim to this belief at least for a short while. I believed they were all shitters for a while myself. However, I've learned a lot of times the Assistants are actually either looking for a break from the major responsibilities of a main department or just looking to learn how to play. We instead of shunning or removing Assistants should instead look to find them jobs. Department Head (primarily HoPs) and well departments in general should be looking for ways to engage Assistants in assisting the station running. Yes there will be shitters, but I would say it's much better they are running around in the assistant spot over a full fledged doctor or engineer slot. TL;DR Blah blah, assistants aren't that bad blah blah blah.
12. That page redirects me here: https://aurorastation.org/rules.html and that's all up to date.
13. Maybe jackboot should read the wiki more.
14. As much as I usually find myself hating antags on aurora in general, I don't blame the mixed secret on people voting mixed secret all the time even when it makes no sense to at all (when there are too few people to actually use half the gamemodes). I believe it is as Skull says just a fad that has arisen with the fact its new. It's already worn out its welcome with plenty of people and soon enough I believe everyone will be tired of the station losing 2 or 3 departments every round because "lol mercs (or whoever) gotta blow up chunks of the station". We also no doubt have an influx of newer people who are trying out antags to see what they're like. It's going to be rough for a while and I accept this. It's a little annoying that I have to try to play my down to earth, non-combative, non-heroic, characters as people in distress almost all the time right, but I can still get some genuine moments of char interaction despite this and that to me is very enjoyable.
15. I have no idea, they were probably connected to make it easier on whoever wrote it at the time. I can see it being divided, but not anytime too soon. Botanist and Janitor added to the list to be updated.
16. Fire and Glory DM me on discord exactly what you mean. idioch Thank you for that link! I will port over the stuff from Bay that is needed and then edit as needed based on any changes in our code!
17. Shit dude good luck man. I hope you mange to find something to help yourself out and see you around...hopefully!
18. Note: Wizard Page has been updated HOWEVER it is still a WIP as of right now. The nice table that went over spells has been removed and spells are currently missing descriptors while I work on bringing that table back + add the artefacts missing + fix up tables for all the different books. So it is updated but barebones right now as we work to get it just right! https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Wizard
19. I can see where you are coming from. New mining is quite a bit more dangerous with pits and newbies. It can be very annoying trying to come home with a good yield or try to save some idiot who fell, only to have the airlock on infinite cycle thanks to those air tanks emptying out. However, there are currently solutions to fix this already. First being tell the QM or a CT that the air is out and they should retrieve/order more to put in the place of the empty. Second, do the same thing with Engineering. I know these aren't the perfect solution since shit can get real and trap you outside. I kind of like having to watch the airlock, but without a guide for newbies to know to do that it's rough right now. I'm actually pretty game either way this goes. I think it can be just as much a fun thing as it can be a teeth gritting annoyance.
20. TWO QUICK NOTES! 1. The Chemistry Guide has been looked at by myself with help from medical players. It appears fine. I'll hold onto it as a concern if other players feel it needs updating and update accordingly. 2. With the help of Prate the Virology page has been updated. Please look over it to confirm it looks much better/makes more sense and list any concerns that remain with it.
