Please, for the love of readability, put in some punctuation. This is unreadable.

mwhit030's Command Application
EngineersDream replied to mwhit030's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have been dared to -1 this, and I am not one to back down from a challenge. But yeah, Mwhit is alright and I approve with a -(-1) -
My precious tree boi finally made the list. Yay!

+1 good backstory, obvious understanding of the lore.

BYOND Key: EngineersDream Character Names: Noise of a Dying Planet, Kira Lord, Nicole Wright, Infinite Marble Palace, Affinity (2.0) Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: It's a robot boi Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've always had a thing for AI and cyborgs. Been playing a lot of AI and cyborgs for a while and IPCs seem like a natural evolution of what I like about those roles, though, of course, I will never give up my baby Affinity. Furthermore, having played a lot of roboticist, both as Noise and Lord, IPCs were usually the most entertaining elements of the job, often willing to engage in some deeper roleplay that what I'm used to with Cyborgs and the like. In conclusion: They look cool, they have interesting RP-hooks and fit into my preferences of non-human characters. Also: Robots are really cool. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I could, of course, list off all the mechanical differences, but I don't think that's the point. They're not organic, and as such have a different view on self-preservation, individuality, social life and life in general. Furthermore, they can hold a different social standing to most organic species, being specifically owned by somebody or something. Interesting stuff, ready to be explored further. Character Name: OP-217 Please provide a short backstory for this character: (Okay, so I had a bit of trouble with this, and decided to abandon the usual way these backstories are told. I hope this works regardless.) COLLECTED RECORDS IPC-ID: OP-217 OFFICE IPCS INC. INSPECTION DOCUMENTATION IPC-ID: OP-217 CHASSIS TYPE: Shell, humanoid DATE: 12/3/2461 INSPECTOR: Dr. Daniel Baum ITERATION: 1 PLACE OF INSPECTION: Mendell City STATUS: 87% CLEARANCE: Not granted NOTES, PHYSICAL INSPECTION: Left knee scrapes pretty badly. No idea how this got through initial testing. I’ll send it back for that to be replaced. NOTES, ARTIFICIAL PSYCHOLOGY: None. Perfect score. OFFICE IPCS INC. They’re buying 50 units right off the bat, more to come, if their rep is to be believed. How many do we have in stock? Kind regards, Morrow. OFFICE IPCS INC. INTERNAL MESSAGE RECIPIENT: Sales and Supply, Peter Morrow SENDER: Sales and Supply, Judy Mankin Hey Peter, we have 7 units ready for sale at this point. Series designation is “OP”, it’s the clerical operator series, and serial numbers are: 201 203 204 205 206 207 209 All other OPs are still awaiting inspection. The guys in engineering are being slow, as usual. Drinks on saturday? Judy OFFICE IPCS INC. INTERNAL MESSAGE RECIPIENT: Sales and Supply, Judy Mankin SENDER: Sales and Supply, Peter Morrow Drinks on Saturday sounds good. I’ll flag those units for shipping. Probably throw a coffee machine in for good measure. See you then, Peter OFFICE IPCS INC. SHIPPING MANIFEST IPC-ID: OP-217 CHASSIS TYPE: Shell, humanoid DESTINATION: Mendell central shipping CONTENTS: 1x IPC, Shell, humanoid Designation: OP-217 1x IPC Maintenance Kit Documentation MENDELL CENTRAL SHIPPING CORPERATED SHIPPING MANIFEST IPC-ID: OP-217 CHASSIS TYPE: Shell, humanoid DESTINATION: NanoTrasen shipping center #7 CONTENTS: 1x IPC, Shell, humanoid Designation: OP-217 1x IPC Maintenance Kit Documentation NANOTRASEN INTERNAL REVIEW IPC-ID: OP-217 CHASSIS TYPE: Shell, humanoid INSPECTOR: Dr. Noise of a Dying Planet STATUS: Review pending NOTES: Mostly functional. Seems to have a weakness regarding logical paradoxes and other things one might see in a made-for-TV-film level AI. Requesting maintenance. NANOTRASEN INTERNAL REVIEW IPC-ID: OP-217 CHASSIS TYPE: Shell, humanoid INSPECTOR: Dr. Noise of a Dying Planet STATUS: Granted NOTES: We’ve been informed that the unit is meant to be mentally limited. In light of that knowledge, we grant clearance, though the particular choice of positronic processor seems overkill for the models capabilities. Maybe the contractor is just bad at part sourcing. Unit OP-217 is cleared for clerical and assistance work. REPORT CLOSED SIGNED: Alice What do you like about this character? They are firmly owned by NanoTrasen and are a rather limited implementation of an IPC, mostly designed for clerical work. I like playing with limitations and I like the idea of exploring a somewhat mundane character concept, a character literally designed to do the most dull and mind-numbing work on station. Notes: Have a nice day Edit: Fixed a missing word in the title.

[Complaint] PratePresidenten - Andrean2017
EngineersDream replied to Andrean2017's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
@Alberyk and I will be taking this complaint. We'll be going over the evidence and will contact you both shortly. -
I just want to say: Yes, please.

Seems like a good addition to bring some more character to the server. +1

Okay, so since there is no specific event being brough up here I'm not entirely sure how the rules of staff complaints apply here, so feel free to throw this post in the bin if it doesn't apply. I found myself confused about Fowl's behaviour and the seemingly wide-spread acceptance of it, when I can imagine that other staff members would not get away with it like that. Quite frankly it feels like he is often actively trying to be hostile towards others. I don't want to imply that that is the actual intention, of course. Perhaps there is history that I'm not aware of, but it seems to me like there's a deeper seated issue here. I don't have any specific evidence of negative encounters I personally have had with Fowl since I don't tend to keep screenshots of these things, but there certainly were negative encounters.

Geeves' Super Cereal Bullyhunter App

+3 Geeves ERPs me on Discord. -
I agree with this. It seems ridiculous that most people can get them from round-start, except for those who are EVA most of the time by default. +1

Sei's formal IAC uniform and kind of show-off medal.
EngineersDream replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Denied Apps
Seems like a reasonable request. Perhaps the uniform could be made available for everybody, provided it ends up looking decent? -
The title pretty much says it all. It is currently impossible for gardeners to put seeds back into the vendor they get their seeds out of. This forces you to either cover your floor in seed packs or drag in a container and store the seeds in there. Either option is messy. I remember being able to store seeds before and it is a quality of life feature the lack of which just seems a bit odd. I would therefore like to suggest re-adding the ability to store seeds in a place that is meant for it. Thank you for your time.

Staff Complaint - Queen of Yugoslavia
EngineersDream replied to IAmCrystalClear's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Okay, so here's my stance on this: A forensics technician is not an officer. Neither in game nor in real life. They are people who collect evidence and process the data they have gathered through various methods. This means that as an FT your job is very distinctly NOT to go after anybody. I understand that you're trying to make an impact in security, but the way you were doing it is simply not your job. If that bothers you, you should consider playing an officer and not going full "unga bunga", as you said. Point is: The FT is not a support officer or anything like that. -
The Next Big Thing - The Official Write-up Boogaloo
EngineersDream replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
I am a bit split on this. On the one hand: If this works out well, it would be awesome. I love the idea (I actually toyed around with a similar idea a few months ago) and I support it. On the other hand I must also echo what Burger said: We would have to do it better than persistence does it. Playing on that server is a slog and I would hate it if this project turned into a similar mess. So, yeah, a cautious +1 from me... -

So probably 1.5-2 years. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I have a pretty robust knowledge of most mechanics, except for medical and telescience. Most other departments I can handle myself in. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No. Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yes. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I enjoy roleplaying, have a knack for SciFi and am generally interested in games with a lot of depth. Anything Else You Want to Add: I honestly don’t know if I’m really cut out for moderating, especially since I have no prior experience in moderating, but I’m willing to give it a shot. Learning by doing, and all that. Also: Have a nice day.

Sounds reasonable to me, assuming it can be coded without greater hassle.

Eh, I don't know if I like that traitor idea. But as an optional thing... yeah, I guess. Though I usually find it more interesting if people put a new (temporary) spin on a character you probably know in some capacity.
