Since paramedics normally do not have to be in the OR access to it is really not nessecary. And as Resi says, there are 2 O- blood packs in the wall locker in the ICU and another 2 in the freezer near the sublevel isolation cell. All easily accessible for every member of medical.

BYOND key: KingOfThePing Character names: Sei Armas, Natalie Pershing, Julienne Turner How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I first boarded the Aurora in Summer/Fall 2016 if I recall it all correctly. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Driving the round's and character's stories alike. As well as exemplary leading the department as I would like to get led by others. Why did you come to Aurora?: LRP and HRP is nothing for me. I came for the HRP and stayed for the people. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Of course. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I recieved two minor warnings in my time here. One for being a bad traitor and sabotaging the Supermatter Engine without staff approval near the end of one round and the other one was recieved for misinterpreting a law as the AI and hurting the crew, even if I shouldn't have. Other than that I haven't recieved any administrative actions. Of course I also have some notes to my ckey but they are all very harmless. If interested I can post them, too. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Obviously, the purpose of roleplaying is to be able to be someone who is not you. You have the ability to create a completely different person, with different motives, different principles and a life that went differently than your own. But roleplay also involves others. The way you play your character can affect or influence others, in character and maybe even out of it. You can live another life, meet people you might not meet in the real world and do things you can't (or shouldn't). You can create a whole new universe with the characters you play. You can create stories or situations that are remembered. Maybe you can even create real feels, sometimes. Roleplay shouldn't be solely about yourself or your character but rather the people around you. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The Head of a Department is supposed to guide, supervise and teach (new) players the ways of the department they play. Guidance by coordination: A department without a head often is slower to respond - slower to react - maybe even limited in their abilities. Supervision by presence: Supervising your department, so the members of said department follow regulations and you keep an overview of your department's actions at all times. Teaching new players: No matter if it's a player new to Aurora, the department or the game itself, a Head of Staff should try to be available for players willing to learn new game mechanics, positions and what is expected of them, when playing in said department. The game can be confusing when being new, a HRP setting even more so. New players should be taken into care, especially as a Head of Staff, if everyone else refuses to do so. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: It's not a simple question. One should not forget, that as a whitelisted Command player you are basically considered an exemplary player, especially by players new to the server or the game. You have to handle the balancing act to make rounds interesting, but still deliver good, believable RP. One of the greatest problems you can hear at any give time is, that often interesting situations get shut down by command players. It is important to try to look for ways to make good, interesting and maybe special situations possible, to create possibilities for people to roleplay and try out their ideas, instead of trying to avoid or deny it. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Originating from the Republic of Elyra and Tau Ceti being a melting point for many (xeno) cultures Dana was skeptical when taking the opportunity to work for NanoTrasen. But she thinks that NanoTrasen is indeed more powerful than The Liberal Reform Party. She knows that the fight over the elyran Phoron deposits is a slowly losing one. She believes, that if she cannot beat NT, then she should join them. Even though she considers herself temperate, when it comes to political questions the Lii'dra attacks in Tau Ceti this year only gave her the proof she needed to not trust the Vaurca. Dana does not outright dislike or hate xenos in general, like many elyrans tend to do, but she is always vigilant, when being around them. More so if it's a Vaurca. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Chief Medical Officer Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Since my currently played medical character is too young, greatly underqualified and not supposed to be a CMO I created a new character: Dana Zirin as a Chief Medical Officer. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Rating yourself is presumptuous, but I should do so nonetheless this time: 7/10. I think I play believable characters with ideals and flaws alike but of course, no one is perfect. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Of course. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Of course. Extra notes: n/a

The in-game character records make me want to kill myself
KingOfThePing replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Archive
Alright, time for "How character records are currently in-game make me want to kill myself: Part II", this time with 100% more examples of what I think is not that good. First of all a picture of how the records look on a) the (medical) laptops (left side) and b) on the PDA (right side) I used my own records, which I did after the example ones that are suggested in the wiki. Now I wil point out what exactly makes me want to kill myself: First problem: The character records are just an empty field you can write in, when you are in Character Setup. Same if you use Web Interface. This causes records to not be uniform, which can make it very, very difficult to read them. Filling out premade fields could solve that, maybe. Second problem: The formatting is off, when it comes to records on the PDA. The formatting is off and makes some records quite literal impossible to read. -
The in-game character records make me want to kill myself
KingOfThePing replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Archive
I am sorry, I just noticed I should've included some pictures and explained further what I meant. I will do this as soon as I can. -
What's up guys, VSauce Micheal here ya boi here, you all know it's shit and I thought it's time to whine about it. The in-game formatting of character records makes me want to gauge out my eyeballs. You know, not when they are being printed out, but when you look at them on laptops. Consoles. Or the PDA. Do not get me wrong, I am no coder, I cannot propose or make a real suggestion how it could look better or how it could be made. But maybe someone who is capable of doing that could explain why the records look the way they are and what could be done about it. So my suggestion is nothing more than to change them to something more pleasing. Please like comment and subscribe feel free to add your thoughts or critique to that topic.

Aww, yes. R a n t T i m e, don't worry it won't be 8 pages long this time but here are my two cents: I played Poison, the notorious, annoying cheap JC Denton knockoff raider with the shitty Cyber RIG who tried to annoy and distract as much people in the most obnoxious way possible (I try to avoid conflict since I am unrobust as feck) in which I succeeded, in my opinion. And reading all this I would say that people getting killed by the bomb was an accepted but a, a) not unreasonable and b) not really forseeable thing. The reason why we bailed so fast in the end was because we heard that an ERT was coming. And even though we knew OOCly that only 1 sad ghost (I think it was Doxx) was ready to rambo up we ICly thought it may have been a ruse, because with such a large raider party onboard NT would send the worst they have so we decided to bail right fucking now. If we would've decided to meta/power/whatever-game and stayed maybe no one would've died since one ERT Trooper vs. eight red-suit bois, who would win? But all this whole thing is worrying to me. The argument that "not only one staff member was involved in this decision" even more so. I would've never dreamed that such an action would result in a permanent ban, in my opinion this is absolutely unreasonable, no matter the notes on his ckey. I am very, very, very sure that BSA did not intend to kill these people, rather trap them or have them circumvent the station to the raider shuttle instead. If the bomb timers are borked - not BSA's fault. He couldn't know that each and every Merc right fucking now decides to bail instanly - not BSA's fault. Yellow Dock is not arrivals/departures - there is just no ground to argue on this. He got permission to bomb the shuttle - no restrictions to this permission was made, again not BSA's fault for an admin to not be clear. It is worrying how it seems like everyone insta smashes F1 when they get killed. Sometimes you're just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Death drives the round. Stress drives the round. I personally cannot understand how you can be so exceptional salty when getting killed, when it's non-canon anyway. It happens. There are so many ways to still participate in the round, even when dead. In this case the round ended 5 minutes later anyway (excluding the end of round delay) - when you cannot wait 5 minutes until you play again....then I do not know what to say. I got "ganked", too in the past, where I got monologued for 30 seconds and my throat sliced by some arm blades, for example. I was just too curious for my own good in that situation. My own fault. I do not say you can't or should not be salty when you die, but ahelping every. goddamn. death. is childish and has a variety of negative side effects. For example: Discouraging players from playing antag at all, scaring off new players (to the server or the game at all). Everyone can end up on the recieving end from time to time. It. Happens. Especially in non-canon antag rounds. edit1: Also, smashing numbers into a keypad to arm a bomb is really no witchcraft, even the most braindead assisstant could do it, ICly. edit2: Bragging is apparently a punishable offense, too? A permanent ban is.......I am sorry, I don't want to attack someone but the ban is ridiculous, almost silly I would say. A permaban is the hardest punishment available - and all that for detonating a bomb? Disproportional is a gentle way to put it. -

Hello, since it got asked in the ahelp: I was the positronic brain. It was funny, I didn't pay attention and should've known that nothing good awaits me in the hands of a Dominian priestess. I had a laugh. He got me there, no salt needed. To the decapitation, that happened shortly after: As far as I remember it from deadchat Wigglesworth wasn't salty about his death and the decapitation drove the story of the round, since nothing at all happened before. With the death of Sholl the round really took off (in a good way). The only thing I see as problematic was that the head was missing and no attempt to clone the body could be made, even though all medical staff would've been present to do so. -
You can have your opinion, that's fine, even if I disagree with it, but then I have a question: That complaint did not include you, it didn't mention you, there was no input needed from you, you had simply nothing to do with it. You don't have to like the complaint, or the approach I took, but, please, explain to me why you feel the need to comment on it, if you find it that dumb and unnessecary, especially in such a manner in the public Discord? Strange, that such a stupid thing is apparently important enough for you to give it attention. Bullshit argument and nothing more than a shady give in, because you didnt only "used the wrong words". You used the wrong words twice. You can stop pretending, really. You really made my Monday with this. "Equal opportunity arguer", laughable. Sadly I do not have screenshots to back it of, but here is my memory of said particular converstation: Someone: Lab Assistant requirements are dumb, they should be changed Fowl: Whoever cares about this shit is autistic Me: Just because you do not care doesn't mean everyone else shouldn't Fowl: Shut up no one cares And this is the basic structure how conversations or """"discussions"""" with you go. It is literally not worth one's time to try to have a constructive conversation with you, for the simple reason that you do not allow such a conversation. You are much, but believe me, you are not an "Equal opportunity arguer" - more anything but.
-
This is not a retreat, only a switchback. See you on the other side, friend.
-
Fowl is very simple, if you do not agree with him or his views 100% of the time, all the time you can expect a variety of insults directed to you and even if you do you are not safe from his trashtalk. I've never seen someone go ad hominem in such lightning speed as he does, for no reason at all. There is nothing against some banter, but I personally do not think it is. I never had a normal conversation with him, no matter the topic. Maybe I am lucky and still have some screenshots, for example, when he voiced his opinion about the minor wiki changes to Lab Asisstant requirements, it was truly amazing. It is beyond me, how anyone could defend him or his behaviour, given his position as a developer.
-
I think the reasoning behind this suggestion is pretty solid. I do not play Detective myself, so I can only judge from what I read here, but it seems a change is appropiate.
-
There are things that just stand the test of time. Related, real life, example: The Colt 1911. Being first produced in 1911 (duh) it is still being manufactured today, being used in official service in over 20 countries (I have to rely on wikipedia for that information) and is just a reliable, all-conditions firearm. Of course there are newer versions of it, but they all follow the same original design. All that today over 100 years after it's first introduction. So it's not impossible to have a weapon being designed and be outstanding in most fields of use and becoming the standard-issued firearm, even for 100....150....whatever years.

The Vault is a meme and has to be improved.
KingOfThePing replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Archive
I hoped you give your thoughts on this topic. And apparently you agree with me that the Vault is shitty the way it is, then why not remake it? Move it up a level, honestly fuck the elevator and redesign it entirely. -
I personally find it a very interesting and unique custom sprite and I think you do a great job playing Arlo. There is no reason to doubt you will do it even better with a bit of personalization. +1

The Vault is a meme and has to be improved.
KingOfThePing replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Archive
I agree that there should be a way to do it sneaky. But completely negating all security mechanisms by dismantling a wall is pretty lmao, if you ask me. That argument only works if you look at it from an OOC perspective. IC a vault tells me: Valuable shit. And valuable stuff is nice to have for some antags, so this argument can't be applied here, in my opinion. Maybe change up what's actually inside the vault, too, if you really want to use that argument. -
You all know it, the Vault is the most unsafe "Vault" in all of history. The fact that anyone with EVA gear, basic tools and enough time and/or determination can loot the safe/freezer in the Vault without triggering the motion alarm, the turret defenses or anything really is a meme. The Vault is supposed to be a safe place for some of the most valuable items on the station but it is quite the opposite. How can it be improved? - Make it more difficult to access from EVA: The back wall is adjacent to open space. The open space could be removed to make it nessecary to make your way through solid rock before you reach said wall. - Move everything away from the walls: Moving the items to the middle of the room and placing defenses around them makes much more sense. Like a glass cabinet in the middle, turrets and motions sensors around it. - Remodel the Vault entirely: I am no mapper, but I am sure the layout of the Vault itself can be vastly improved. Review it, make out the flaws and remap it accordingly. What is your opinion on the matter?

Hey bois and gals, time for another suggestion, just as the title says. It's something minor (gameplay wise) but adds immersion. No idea how hard it is to implement, I imagine that it can't be toooooooo hard. Optimal would be a opt-in/opt-out option for players that don't want to hear someone breathing in their ear while wiring solars. Again, nothing major but could be a neat little detail, the players I talked about it some time ago agreed that it could be nice to have. Tell me what you think.

Alright, first of all I want to thank you for the time you invested in this and taking this complaint serious, in contrast to some others, which I really appreciate, but I think we can wrap this up. I didn't want to make it sound like you wanted me to justify myself, I am sorry if you understood it that way, but the quote I used in that paragraph was from kyres1, not you. I believe that continuing this discussion will lead nowhere, since I am apparently not able to make my point clear and miscommunication seems getting worse. To your offer of taking an IPC whitelist from me, I again appreciate the gesture, but as I already stated I do not intend to reapply for IPC and will refrain from applying for anything else. I have no interest in investing any more time and effort into this matter anymore. If someone clearly states that I am not allowed to quote them on what they said, especially with the reason "I do not want to be involved in that." - then I shouldn't do it and neither should anyone else. I don't know if anyone involved really cares much, but as some closing words I want to say that I don't intend to hold any lasting grudge against Cake or the lore team or anyone, really. I would be lying if I'd say this whole affair didnt upset me in a great way, but this does not mean I will be upset forever, yet I have drawn conclusions from the answers that both were and were not given to the statements I made. -

KingOfThePing replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Hello, I'll try again to keep it short as short as possible, once again only going over the parts that are most important to me: I think it is time that I talk a bit about how I felt about how the fact, that I posted a staff complaint on the complaint board, was recieved by some, because in my opinion some interesting things happened. Contrary to what this complaint might look like I do not enjoy posting complaints about someone else and I was hesitant to post it at all, so I gathered some feedback and talked to some Aurora players before doing so. Sadly I was not allowed to directly quote the person I am referring to in the following, so if you think I am being dishonest here, because I, in this case, can not back it up, then ignore my claim that it felt a lot like that person tried to discourage me from filing a staff complaint, because apparently filing a staff complaint is a waste of time and if I have any problem I should discuss them behind closed doors. But not only that, even here in this thread, after posting my initial post one of the very first things I got greeted with is the following: It really is beyond me why I have to justify myself for using my right to file a complaint, if I feel mistreated. If the consensus is that staff complaints are worthless and a waste of time, then why does the complaints board exist in the first place? I won't get into more detail about how various (staff)members of the community talked about this complaint, because I agree that your responsibility is only the lore team - yet this all added up paints a very poor picture. I am not someone who gets offended by getting memed about, I think most people I interact more with can confirm this, but sometimes there is a time to stop, especially if someone has a genuine problem with someone else. This is very interesting, because I faced critique about this, as seen here: This again is a prime example how apprently many of my statements were interpreted in a negative way, without any reason at all. I got told that, quote: "I [wasn't] giving you any more of a hard time than I usually give anyone else.". I won't get into more detail again, but I think over the course of this I have proven this statement to be wrong. Being called or "misinterpreted" as being impatient, because I inquired about my whitelist that took over three times longer than a whitelist apparently should take, is not appropiate. I still do not understand what I have done in the over two years of playing on Aurorastation, so that a simple, non-aggressive reply in the forums from me gets outright interpreted in a negative way. I honestly want to get this explained to me, since I want to improve in this matter. I did not have much interaction with members of staff in the past, but when I had I was always polite and respectful, when it came to, let's call it "official" matters. The sentence is something that bugs me and I want to explain to why this, in the context of this complaint, is completely worthless to me. The next section might get a bit heated: To start this I'll state that I won't apply again. Not for IPC nor any other whitelist. Give me one reason why I should, after being treated like how I was. I won't repeat everything again, but how I was treated was not okay and if you want to chalk it up as a misunderstanding, then I have to accept that. But repeating the fact that "[ I ] am free to apply again at any time you wanted." is, again, worth nothing. Sure, I could, but I do not see any reason why I should, especially after filing a complaint against the loredev in question. Cake might be stating that there won't be "any prejudice or begrudging of the previous failed attempt." but after dissecting all of our short converstation I have all reason to believe that this will not be the case. He wasn't able to neutrally interact with me before we had a problem with each other, I do not think he will be able to now, which is not supposed to be critique, but nothing else than the human nature. Also, I say again, for I think the fourth time now, that this complaint was not about the denial of the app per se, and this will be the last time I point that out. So to sum it up: If this is the way I get treated, after interacting with staff for the first time in a way that is beyond writing two sentences on Discord, after over two years of playing on Aurorastation, where I never had any major problems with anyone OOC, yet I am the one who gets accused of attitude problems, then, in my opinion, something is seriously wrong. -

KingOfThePing replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I'll go through this in chronological order, as quickly as I can, so I will only pick the passages that are most important to me: First of all, I agree that I may have gotten carried away, when writing the essay, there are some parts in it (keyword: Total job numbers graph) where I, to phrase it in the words of another community member, activated turbo-autism mode, that could've been shorter. This whole thing shows that this may not be the best course of action, since this all could have been avoided by not finalizing and locking a thread, especially when you yourself admit that there could have been multiple communication issues. It looked to me, like you wanted to just wrap it up as quickly as possible. I for myself felt deprived of the possibility to clear things up and I, clearly, refused to accept that. I only can work with what I was given. Why I came to this conclusion was explained by me in thourough detail, for example in figure ten, but I will get to that in a bit. I made conclusions made from the replies you gave me. I am sorry, but if you feel like you are missing out something, then I ask you again: Why do you not communicate this, instead of posting the reply you did and locking up the thread afterwards? This is no excuse to me, if I write an application I expect it to be read properly, even if it may not be the best application that has ever been posted. Which I did, to the best of my abilities, until I didn't understand their relevancy anymore and inquired about them. This lead to the denial of the application. If you wanted to know more, then why not ask more specific questions, instead of basically just "Tell me more". This felt like the equivalent of asking someone "How do you like the weather?", and I already explained the information I had laid out for the character in the application. Twice. It might've been not a whole load of information, I totally agree, but I asked it in the essay and I do it again: Why do I have to set the character in stone? Just for an application? I can just make another one the, for example, next day after I recieved the application. It makes no sense to insist on a 100% fleshed out character for an application, since you are not even obliged to play that character, after you get your whitelist. Why isnt there a greater emphasis on how a player behaved and played in the past, instead of piecing together some mundane background with the wiki open on the second monitor? Stop denying facts. You literally asked me, quote: "Tell me more about INGRAM's interactions with people and how they would be played...". Just so that we are on the same page, here is a definition of roleplay, source can be provided if wanted: "Roleplay | Role-play: The changing of one's behaviour to fulfill a [social] role". I will not go any further into this topic again, since this was also covered in the essay to a great extend. Here you justify it again with the follwing, quote: "...a bit of history as to what happened to IPC players in the past,...", which again leads me to the question I already asked: Why is it not (more) considered how someone played in the past to determine someone's ability to play an alien race? I guess that is why you can comment on whitelist applications, which would be totally fine, if it wouldn't require posting and reposting the link of your application at the end of each round, which I didn't, because I personally find it awfully annoying. Also, as far as I know it is not a requiremnt to do that, yet it seems to have quite some importance. Unclear instructions. I agree. I could've been much more clearer why I did not outright provide more information. This was clearly a fault from my side. I am not able to see the causality between this and not outright answering any question you asked. How do you go from the first part of not outright answering the questions to not wanting the whitelist. I would've understood it, if I wouldn't have answered at all, but here I can't see the connection. From the day of posting the original application to you asking your questions and subsequently denying the application was a time span of twelve days. During this time I was patient, waiting for any information, regarding my whitelist. Again, accusing me of not wanting the whitelist is nothing more than a baseless statement. If I wouldn't have wanted it, I wouldn't have wrote the application, like the years before. There is not much more to say to this, except that this statement is just plainly wrong. You directly quoted me on something I never said and to prove it you highlighted a sentence, putting it out of context, and even began this part with, quote: "I will humor you nontheless: ...". If you feel like you have to "humor me", so, in other words going along with something that seems stupid or pointless, yet being unable to properly put a statement I made into context, then for me, this is nothing less than a mockery. I stand by my statement that answers that go ad hominem, maybe almost even ad personam, in a situation, where you act in the role of a staff member is an insolence to a normally asked, neutral question. Here is an excerpt from the wiki: "A Xenoarcheologist looks for artifacts. Artifacts are those things most people think are useless, like fossils, alien spoons, bowls, those kinds of things." - Guide to Xenoarcheology. My emphasis is on the second sentence, which I used to explain why an old Baseline Frame was being repurposed for Xenoarcheology on a station that is a mining and research station, instead of a new one being built or bought for a ton of credits. You completelely missed the point in my argumentation (since you also willingly or unwillingly ignored the context) and boiled it down to: "No one plays Xenoarcheology, that's not enough.", which is just not doing it justice. Bad phrasing from me. I did not intend to say that you are playing dumb. Apologies. Strange, this reads completely different in your closing reply to the application, quote: "I am giving you requirements to meet, and you have only opinionated them.".
