BYOND Key: KingOfThePing Character Names: Dana Zirin, Quik'Kin Zish, Ka'Akaix'Ven C'thur, Quorrdash Fraseq, [Stardust the Resomi (He will return, mark my words.)] Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: RGB 94, 38, 18 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: End my life, it's been so much, but yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Most people who know me also know that I didn't had much interest in playing anything besides humans for a long time, but people change, I am not exception to that. So I extended to other races eventually and I aimed at those with the much lore that interests me and then going from there. I'll be honest. I knew tajaran lore enough to know my way around, but didnt felt the need to play it myself. That changed recently with that one round on Adhomai, when I noticed "Hey, that's actually pretty cool.". After reading that massive shitton of lore on the wiki I now know, that there is a lot to tajaran lore and I like to explore that stuff, as seen by my currently played characters. It makes for a lot of possible character concepts and I am all into that. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The first thing that comes to mind is the way more intense political landscape Tajara move in. It's much more prominent than, let's say, ATLAS and Anti-ATLAS, it is also well more fleshed out and the tensions that come with it are much more.....noticable, if you know what I mean. It brings a lot of potential tension, which is very interesting to play around. It's also interesting to be able to play relatively uneducated characters, since many, if not most Tajara just did not have access to any kind of advanced schooling institutions, which does not mean they are stupid or simple-minded. Choosing one of the sub-race is also influencing what you are capable, better and worse at. These physical differences (to each other and humans) also means they work a lot more with body language (and well, of course they speak differently in general, compared to humans). Character Name: Kamkin Daminkhonov Please provide a short backstory for this character Born in 2434, Kamkin grew up in a relatively large village, far in the 'outback' north of Nazira, in a mountainous region near the everchanging frontlines in a conflict that seems to be raging forever now. The only reason the village did not face destruction or major damage, really was, because it was supplying valuable iron ore, and thus, steel for the war effort to whoever was currently in control to this region. And to NanoTrasen, of course. Both the ALA and PRA knew better to rather seek the mines and the surrounding village, instead of destroying it. This does not mean that Kamkin, his family and the rest of the community have not seen their fair share of fighting, that has been going on for so long now. Regularly volunteers are seeked to be drafted into a conflict Kamkin himself had no interest in joining. Of course, after the assasination of President Hadii, he, like all other Zhans, faced difficult times. He, his family and his friends needed to stick together and support each other to get through these hard times. Shortly after coming to age, not long after the death of President Hadii, his everyday life consisted of working in the mines, day after day. Not much education was available during his youth, so far out away from the cities, so manual labour was all he knew and could do. He knew he had to get through this all, somehow, hoping that all Tajara will cease the fighting and be working together, as one again, someday. He was never very religious, but sometimes quickly praying to the Snow God, before descending back down into the mine for another day of hard work underground helped. A little bit, at least. Years of manual labour hardened Kamkin, but he hated it. Even with his family here, which he cares for deeply, he knew this wasn't the life he wanted to live. But well, he didnt have any way out. He didn't want to join the military, since he didn't want to fight and die in a sensless war, becoming another body and name in a long and evergrowing list. He also couldn't just leave for the city, since he didn't know what he should do there. All options had an uncertain outcome and he was not going to take the chance, really. Things changed, when NanoTrasen representatives visited the village, last year. They were inspecting the mining facilities they were recieving so much iron ore from over the time. And how fate wanted it, they were also searching for more Tajara to integrate into their work force, so they inspected many younger Tajara from the village and offered to leave this place with them and work at a somewhere else, far away from here. They promised good pay, working and living conditions (though, "good pay" is subjective, apparently, as NanoTrasen is not known for being the most generous employer). Many, including Kamkin were inclined to deny the offer, since it meant leaving their families and most friends behind, but the opportunity to earn more money, to send it to their families was, after some consideration, a trade-off, that some took. Kamkin did, too. And so he was on his way to Tau Ceti, so far away that he couldn't even try to imagine it. When he arrived at the Mendell City spaceport in District 6 he was more than just disappointed. District 6 was nothing like it was promised back on Adhomai, there was crime, the issued dorms were terribly overcrowded and all in all he was uncertain if he made the right decision. He soon was assigned, not to his suprise, to the Cargo & Supply Department of the NSS Aurora, though not as a miner, but a Cargo Technician. Apparently he was more suited to carry crates around than to excavate ore and phoron. He was alright with it, a good turn of events for him, since it meant he doesn't have to work in another mine. All this was a little over a year ago. After the first paycheck all of Kamkin's doubts were gone. He really did earn some money here. With the nearly 1300 Credits, a gigantic sum for him, he was able to buy himself a low-end apartment, eat and live alright and still send money home to his parents and community. He misses his parents but believes he made the right decision, so he will keep going, as long as it is nessecary. What do you like about this character? Kamkin is a simple, hard working Tajara, wanting a better life for his family and ultimatively, all Tajara as a whole. He tries to make a difference with his work, not here, but back at his home community. He is quiet, needs to warm up with others, but is ultimately very social to whoever is friends with him. His friends here in Tau Ceti are like a "replacement family", for the one who had to leave behind. How would you rate your role-playing ability? non-existent Notes: I ultimately made the decision to not make the millionth M'Sai ex-military security officer, but still wanted to apply with a job I yet have to explore. This limited my possibilities and I had to improvise. I am sure there are flaws with the story, the goal was to not make it snowflakey, but believable, even if it made it a bit...boring(?) to read. I might also, of course, got something wrong from the immense amount of lore, that is dumped onto you, when wanting to make an application, again, feel free to correct me with anything that's....well....not correct.

Player Complaint - Lord Fowl
KingOfThePing replied to Flunkerdunk's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
If I post here I will get banned again -
I disagree. Almost all latest remaps (that have made areas bigger, for example) have made the map better. Some areas are rarely used, I agree, but most of them make the space station believable.

Nawfal's Pineapple Wallet Part 2- Looting corpses edition

He is very much dead, killed by a million volts of electricity during a canon event. -
I think you misunderstood me, I did not intend to critzise your intent to why you brought your arguments forward, neither did I wanted to spark a need to justify or explain yourself why you posted what you posted.

This is a feedback thread to an implementation of a mechanic that is entirely unneeded and unnessecary, so I did post my opinion about it. But you are, of course, completely right. I will refrain from engaging the discussion here that is not related to this unneeded PR, since discussions about a topic like politics always lead to conflict.

Yes, I did know that, no one claimed otherwise. Also, please provide a source for your claim with the 50 cents per dollar, please. Nevermind, I am blind. At least I think so, that graphic isn't really intuitive. Yet some those countries are also those where a woman isn't even allowed to leave the house alone, so I am unsure if you really want to make them count, since the problems there regarding this topic are grounded entirely differently as, let's say, in the US. So just in time to be closed in 2461. Unsure how this is related to men/woman pay. Obviously, no one claimed otherwise. I also, deliberately put the word civilized in brackets, since I am fully aware that there are countries, for example in the Middle East, where women are still treated like dirt. I do not see this as civilized behaviour, hence why I excluded these countries in my mind. Again, unsure why this is related to a PR that implents a wage gap. This is not about Gender Equality in itself (at least it shouldn't be, since this PR doesn't implement (absent) woman rights) but the gender pay gap alone. Many people, no matter the gender don't have one, what is shown here does not disclose any criteria how this "index" is calculated. I, of course cannot speak for all countries, rather for my own, so I will quote this from the article you linked: "In Germany, full-time workers devote 65% of their day on average, or 15.6 hours, to personal care (eating, sleeping, etc.) and leisure (socialising with friends and family, hobbies, games, computer and television use, etc.)..." I tell you, I fucking wish. I really like to know where they draw these numbers from but I can assure you that is not the case. Explanation and, more important, source please Also, I really recommend closing this thread. I really don't want to argue with any of you about such heavy topics. It almost always leads nowhere and is entirely unnessecary, just like the PR that this thread is related to.

Fist of the Grey Shirt: Unapologetic Assistant Buffs
KingOfThePing replied to DronzTheWolf's topic in Archive
How about no. This would give the Assistant more access than some of medical who would actually need it. If an assistant is properly assigned to assist they can either be given a guest pass by the department or a proper upgrade from the HoP. -
I will refrain from saying what I think about this, except that this is unnessecary. But no one will care, no matter how many people will argue against this PR and it will be implented anyway, so whatever.

No idea why there are two threads now, I think I commented in the wrong one. First of all, utilizing the construction level, the absolute madlad. Second, this looks good. Way better what was proposed in the other thread. I am impressed how well this even looks, with basically a glass front overlooking the reception. Super cool. I have a question, though. Will it still be able to lock down virology seperately again, as it is now, using blast doors? The lab looks considerably smaller now. How many people are intended to work in there? It might look a bit too small for two people already (if you were going for one anyway it's obviously fine). Who has access to unbolt that bolted door, leading into the construction level? Is there a button to unbolt it, if so, who can do it?

Merge Virology And Pharmacist Into A New Title: Bio-Physician
KingOfThePing replied to a topic in Archive
I recommend not cutting down the ICU like this, it renders it pretty much useless to the point it can be removed entirely. I won't lie, the ICU cryo tube and sleeper are never used, but you need at least a little space where you can stuff patients, for example awaiting surgery, to hook them up to an IV so they don't fucking die, while you perform surgery in lightning speed. If you have to, utilize the (also never used) space of the two examination rooms. You can cut down one of them, maybe, without needing to remove the back door leading out of the department. All in all, I agree with ferner here. This looks currently not so good, too small and underwhelming. What happens to the, now unused, space in the sublevel? Will it just be removed? Also, Bio-Physician still makes absolutely no sense as a name, just throwing this in here. -
I talked about this with some others some time ago and I will leave this here: Excerpt from the Mass Effect 2/3 Wiki: [...] as such, detachable heat sinks, known as thermal clips, were adopted [...] by (organic) arms manufacturers. Ammunition may never be a concern with modern (non-ballistc) arms, but the availability of thermal clips is; weapons without thermal clips have nowhere to disperse their heat and are incapable of firing [...]. So yes, please rethink how laser-based weaponry works. It's a bit stupid. Please, please, please. +100

Reporting Personnel: Quik'Kin Zish Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Captain Game ID: bYX-dacM Personnel Involved: - Agramakova Antonov, Head of Personnel, offender - Anya Orlova, Chef, witness - Keymaster, Station Intelligence, witness - Khajida Ah'yalna ,Security officer, witness - Paul Grunnus, witness (presumably) - Manfred Hayden, Chief Engineer, other - Multiple other crewmembers Time of Incident: - Real Time: ~23:30 EST, 23rd of February 2019 Location of Incident: NSS Aurora, Bar/Kitchen Nature of Incident: [ X ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ X ] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: Prior to my arrival, both Head of Personnel Agramakova Antonov and Chief Engineer Manfred Hayden have decided, that an unannounced fire drill would be the best way to train the crew's awareness and response time, regarding fire hazards. The drill was supposed to go like this: A fuel spill would be placed inside the kitchen area and the fire alarm was being pulled. Then it would be observed how crew responded to this problem, while stopping the time and observing their behaviour. Problematic was, that the present officers of the ISD, since being uninformed about the drill, suspected malicious intent and intervened with the drill. This caused chaos and general confusion during the drill. Both Heads of Staff agreed to this drill, yet Agramakova Anotonov decided to head to cryogenic storage at the start of said drill. The incident was reported to me, by multiple crewmembers and the station intelligence, due to it's hazardous nature, like the deep fryers, ovens, other kitchen utensils and the general disregard of the "No Smoking" signs in this part of the station. The Chief Engineer was questioned and charged during the shift. This Incident Report is not directed against them. In a personal talk he explained to me in great detail the intention behind this drill and the charge he recieved during the shift was deemed enough punishment by me. He is merely included in here since he might be able to gain more insight from the Head of Personnel's Antonov point of view, since the drill was being held in the civilian part of the station and they "escaped" proper questioning and punishment, unlike the Chief Engineer. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: n/a Actions taken: The Head of Personnel Antonov was already stored in cryogenic storage, when this incident was reported to me. Incident was resolved with Chief Engineer Hayden, no further charges are to be pressed. Additional Notes: No actual fire has broken out during the drill whatsoever.

"This is NTEB, the NanoTrasen Entertainment Broadcast, on the short-range frequency 149.8. We are broadcasting today's holodeck event. My name is James and I'm here with my co-host Quiib. We are both excited to provide some commentary, right from the first row, to all of you who can't attend in person. But without further ado, let's jump right into it. Today's seems to be [...]" Live casting a show over the entertainment channel is actually a pretty good idea! Don't tell me there wouldn't be volunteers to act as radio hosts. I like the idea.

Xenoarcheology Body Cameras and Locker Changes
KingOfThePing replied to Doggie666's topic in Archive
Okay. Next suggestion, this is for people like @VTCobaltblood. Some kind of trolley or hand wagon to put anomalies on. It is extremely silly to just drag them behind you without a care in the world, for example when you have to move through public hallways. Do you think something could be done? -
Thank you ❤️

I have just joined the round this PR was pulled. First of all, I can't see any major flaw and it looks really, really good. Again, thank you for this redesign. I have only one, very, very little thing I want to ask for. Please, don't ask why, but please rename the both first airlocks into the Xenoarcheology department into "Xenoarcheology and Anomalous Materials" instead of "Xenoarcheology and Anomaly Labs". Please. Please, please, please.

Something similar has been suggested in the past: It was not very well recieved.
