  1. For those who are interested, here's my first round of character facts: http://auroraserver.freeforums.net/post/16710 Time to bring out round two! With different characters! June Sonnberg... ...serves as a Chief Surgeon for a NanoTrasen intensive care unit when not deployed aboard the NSS Aurora. She has been serving in that specific position for the past 2 years. She has a new Deputy Chief, someone older than him, who was assigned a few months back. ...lives in a relatively modest setting, despite being relatively well off. Supposedly, some people simply enjoy a small, comfortable two room apartment. ...has uncanonically taken one life. Namely, a scientist's who had shot Samantha Mason in the head a number of times. ...used to date an atmospherics technician, but canon wise, this was many years ago. Beyond this, has lived a rather calm life, in that respect. Yulianna Fyodorov... ...may have a grammatically incorrect surname, I need to check the naming conventions and figure out a proper patronymic whenever I get time. ...enjoys her work in atmopsherics rather greatly, so much so that she regularly invests money into proper gloves and tools, as the ones NanoTrasen provides, in her opinion, are not the finest. Nor the most comfortable to use. ...spent some years focusing on computer software development, in an unofficial manner. What does this mean? Simply put: she likes to tangle with code, and is actively looking for a chance to get onto a program that'll permit her to touch NTSL. ...has a love for home cooked meals. Mostly the ones made by her mother. Imani Otieno... ...acts rather humane towards most individuals, regardless of race, as long as they "respect life." However, he does carry a certain despise of Unathi that were brought up outside of the clans. ...has studied surgical proceedings, among other things, and is quite adept at setting broken and fractured bones. A set of skills learned while he was raised with his clan. ...used to work in a clinic in a slum on Biesel. As he admits, he was kept on duty for two reasons: to help the other doctors, and to scare away anyone wishing harm upon the patients and staff. ...is quite familiar with herbal medicine, having learned it from the previous generation of doctors that were in his clan. Rosemary Davies... ...is an experimental character I played only for a week. They still exist as a save, and I am not certain what to do with them. ...underwent experimentation in "flash memory imprinting," which slowly caused her to forget just about everything about her previous life. ...is freakishly scared of making mistakes. This is due to the fact that an incorrectly imprinted skill would come out due to testing, and would result in further, often pain inducing, imprinting. Zander Willey... ...plays the piano.
  2. This should be coming in the new update, I think. We'll see on Wednesday.
  3. Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Educational Facility/Organization Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): 2381 Region of Space: Epsilon Eridani V / high orbit of Epsilon Eridani V Controlled by (if not a faction): Eridani Corporate Federation/Eridani Federal Military Other Snapshot information: Two facilities organized together to form the central pillars of military education for the Eridani Federal Military, with Fort Sunder training prospective officers and SEN Apex training future non-commissioned officers. Long Description: Fort Sunder is established on the outskirts of Oran, and is effectively the second largest military base operated by the Eridani Federal Army, next to Fort Atrix (which is located smack dab in the centre of Oran). It serves as a major training centre for primarily the FedArmy forces, however, under the Joint Military Academies initiative, the entirety of the introductory commissioned officer's school and related courses have been set up there. As such, prospective officers from the FedNavy are shipped there for the duration of their candidacy. SEN Apex, Station of the Eridani Federal Navy, is a large facility floating in geostationary orbit above a large ocean. It acts as the nervous hub for the Eridani Federal Navy, and, despite their unwillingness to admit it, for the Eridani Federal Army as well. However, alongside sublevels containing information analysis and dispersion hubs are built multiple facilities to encompass the training of infantry. To that end, the schools there have been expanded to serve the entirety of the FedMil. Excerpts from the documentation built around the Eridani Federal Military:
  4. Regardless of whether or not a buy-in is needed, June Sonnberg, my CMO/surgeon, would have studied here.

  6. Alright, with the influx of population, the crowning moment of which would be last night, the management has decided to give everyone a little break. This break will come in the form of: The Hidden Weekend Basically, here's the premise: Every night between Saturday and Sunday, the server will be restarted in a manner which makes it not appear on the BYOND hub. The server will stay that way for the next 48 hours. Those who are aware, and wish to play, can very easily join the server by clicking here. We are hoping that this gives some rest for the Administration & Moderation Staff, as well as the players themselves, and maybe produce a few calmer moments. Depending on how this will affect the statistics, we will keep organizing this each week.
  7. I'm going to be brutally honest with you, I have noticed no change in your leadership capabilities. Nothing negative, nothing positive, just a maintaining of the status quo previously observed. This isn't exactly what I would be looking for. Your reasoning? Was it actually valid, or valid to the degree that it mattered, a shift would be observable. No shift has been observable, from my perspective. Others are free to present counterpoints, as I most definitely do not play with you on a daily basis. There are three notes I would like to touch upon: first, a leader should recognize their mental state, and judge accordingly. Okay, yes, everyone fucks up, I've done so myself, but it should be observable then, as pointed out above. Point two: There exist two glaring annoyances with your style of leadership, in any leadership position. They are arrogance and shouting. Arrogance due to the fact that you expect respect, yet you give no reason for anyone to respect you. You want to command respect, I get that, but I have not yet once see you do a commendable act of leadership which would actually gain you that respect. Even worse, acting like that will, pardon the very straight forward phrasing, make you out to be an arse. And about the shouting? No, being louder only helps you so far. It's a personal annoyance, this one, but it speaks a little about the first half. Point three: not staying in your lane. You have demonstrated a complete and utter disregard towards the rest of the command staff on a number of occasions. Worse yet, I would go as far as to say that you have shown outright disrespect towards your fellow leaders. How? By sticking your nose where it does not belong. Examples of this: trying to micromanage security as the HoP, even with an active HoS, trying to attain the position of Acting Captain when none is required, or when another head would be suited better (no, the HoP is not next in line, it simply exists as an expectation during standard operation, not during crisis). Oh, and again, yelling. That doesn't go well for the whole, "Respect" thing, either. So, yeah, I can't endorse this. I can give you feedback, as I did just now, but you've got ways to go.
  8. I'm against this, personally. Have I played a surgeon and experienced what you experience? Hell yes. Have I hated every moment of it when this happens? Eeeyup. Have I seen a good potential for a powder keg and conflict in this? Also, eeeyup. Okay, here's the thing. From a gameplay standpoint, this is near completely an IC issue and can be resolved in at least two ways, and most certainly more. First off, talk to the fellow surgeon. I have a very good idea as to who you have in mind, and they can be played, if you know how to. If that doesn't work, find a head of staff to complain to. As a CMO, playing June Sonnberg, I usually assign a head surgeon, or make sure that all surgeons have something to do at some point (this also includes having interns do all of the fun things, like moving SSDs), so a head of staff should be the person you go to and sort it out for all to be content. Third point, contact engineering and ask them to build an extra theater. Yeah, you can't make a new surgical table, but a normal one will suffice, or you can ask admins. OOCly? Aye, it can be piss annoying. and I'm sorry if it is, but there's something I have against just giving everyone everything as it'd go against the point of the game. The point is to make do: in this case, make do with a single OT. Two OTs actively tended to from the get-go would negate actual heavy work that needs to be done, problem solving. Triage, prioritize, keep information flowing from the analyzer to the surgeon, maintain intensity until a mass casualty event is cleared -- this is what having two OTs would negate.
  9. The whole point there was to remove the need for anyone posting their contact information out in the open. Just knowing which program is preferred, as usually it's Skype v Steam, is enough.
  10. By the way, I am looking for slightly more than, "Let's do X!" Mainly because I am terribly uncreative and boring. Also, on the note of, "Make cloning harder!" Again, I need further elaboration. Just adding damage or some shit wouldn't be a good idea.

  17. So, this might be a decision I may be making after all, huh? The issue of genetic powers has been raised a number of times, but the actual decision has been to maintain status quo. But I'm just about ready to sign this and run with it, provided the question below is answered. What of the geneticist? Their already barely existant role will be diminished even more. If executed, it might be wise to rebrand them as something along the lines of, "Genetic Resusicitation Specialist". Buuut how do we actually give them something more tangible to do, other than being a doctor who pops into the cloning bay every so often (god knows we already have doctors who do that)?
  18. I actually think that the staff has done neither for a good amount of time. This is down to the Admin team losing a good lot of people over the past few months, and the existing admins being slightly more than strained with the server/other shenanigans. The thing is, running events, usually, takes a good deal of planning and can be relatively stressful. So, acknowledging who our current admins are, I can completely understand the lack of events currently. However, we are looking to rebuild staff, and while it will take some time, the long term prospect of more events is there and being striven towards. Just, yeah, time. As much as I like judgement calls of, "Hey, they look like they should be admin, let's go!" that isn't the best way of going about it.
  19. As a note, PM me if it goes down during the European times, or post here. I've made sure that posts here and on my PMs run through to my email, which I check near every hour.
  20. Okay, I am willing to give you another go. Also, apparently your brother also wishes to play on our server, so with him in mind, it may be wise to take the more... Liberal gameplay to a server more suited. Hopefully we can proceed with that understanding.
  21. Okay, so I hope you understand that chucklefucking is generally a bad thing, and not something we permit, right? Specially when it's on repeated occasions, which I do believe your notes describe. Describe to me why you are on Aurora, what kind of experience you're looking for, and I think we can conclude after that.
  22. Player CKey added, player informed.
  23. I was there. I saw you walk to the chapel. And I can get someone to corroborate the story.
  24. Okay, if you can explain a bit of the following: You started punching yourself, walked into the chapel, and punched yourself. I sent you a message inbetween the punching and you logged right after. So, yeah, just explain the punching yourself bit. Actually, what's odd is that after the inital PM, you kept punching yourself, I sent a second PM and then you logged. And there was quite precisely 70 seconds between the two PMs. So, just explain why you were punching yourself.
  25. This actually sounds interesting to code. If no one else gets here, I'll try my hand after I've debugged my git build.
