[Denied] Huenererschrecker's IPC Application
tbear13 replied to Huenererschrecker's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, have some feedback. Pretty sure I've seen Alpha around a bit, he seems pretty decent. Never played with anyone else though. Understandable. How do they act differently, though? You're gonna need to go into more detail. This answer is decent, if a bit vague. Alright, so, not really a fan of the backstory here. It's too short, has spelling issues, and the backstory overall is lacking. Why would a company program, much less buy a doctor that is extremely judgmental? That seems like the last thing someone in the medical field should be. If he was such a problem that he had to be re-assigned, I find it hard to believe that the company would keep him around. They would probably sell him, if it got to be that bad. Does he have any interesting characteristics other than being snarky? I'd like to hear a bit more about his personality and time at his last post, as both of those are pretty short. I have a few problems with this answer too. It seems like he would be programmed to understand why medicine is given out. Even if he doesn't know exactly what it feels like, he should know more then "give this pill for that." A doctor would, realistically, understand what he's giving out. This seems like it would pose a problem for diagnoses' as well, it's hard to diagnose a problem you don't understand, right? What sort of problems do you have with antags, exactly? I'm not gonna +1 or -1 yet, but I would like to hear what you have to say regarding my concerns. -
Pretty nice item. It's believable, looks good, and seems like a decent way to start a conversation. +1 from me.

BYOND Key: tbear13 Character Names: https://gyazo.com/8a4d5204479335f7f7dd6f8a98c243c2 Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Planning on a rusty-red color, but I don't have an exact shade yet. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well, as a whole, they're an interesting race. They have several unique cultures, those being Moghean, Ouerean, and Dominian, with many differences, while still retaining some core aspects that make the race unique, such as a code of honor and respect for their ancestors. Along with their various religions, the variety that those all allow for makes the Unathi seem like a very interesting, and fun, species to play as. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: One of the most noticeable differences is, as I mentioned above, their code of honor. The average Unathi will avoid lying, respect their family and ancestors, and obey their elders. They tend to be a very divided race, with three separate cultures that rarely get along, there are distinct social and economic classes, severe gender inequality, several religions that often fight one-another, and they even discriminate by scale color, occasionally. Character Name: Yanizra Kanziik Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Yanizra Kanziik was born in 2430, to a carpenter and his wife, in a small village halfway between Mudki and what is now Camp Integrity. With two younger sisters and an older brother, his family and upbringing were both fairly average, and they were taught the values of Sk'akh from an early age. In 2438, the Contact War began, and his father was called up to military service for the Izweski Nation within the month. Yanizra, being so young, didn't really understand what the war meant, and life for him went on normally, for a little while, at least. When the exchange of nuclear weapons started in 2439, it all sunk in for him. The war was real, not just a fairy-tale he sometimes heard about, nor was it an 'adventure.' The following years were tough for him and his family, food became scarce, and the money his father sent home was, eventually, not enough to sustain them, forcing him and his brother to start working under another carpenter from the village to support their family. His father returned from the war early in the Versakh of 2446, and his brother, who recently turned 18, left to fight not long after. Yanizra's father was different after he returned, he was quieter and seemed somewhat detached. He went back to carpentry, leaving most of the child-rearing to their mother, and stayed out of village affairs when he could. Life would go on quietly for the next two years, though food got harder to come by, and more men went off to fight the war. On his 18th birthday, Yanizra decided he would join the military as well, if only to give his parents one less child to feed. Over the next month or two, he was given simple training, how to fight with a spear, various formations, along with other war-related things. After he was trained, the small "army" of around two hundred the village's Lord still had participated in few battles. They were usually used to guard the flanks or scout ahead of of larger levies. His time in the military was about as uneventful as it could be for a footman, and Daraketh fell just over a year after Yanizra had been levied. They occupied a Traditionalist village for a while, before it was decided that they were no longer needed, and they were allowed to travel home. On his journey home, Yanizra ran into an old shaman, who preached the message of Juzida Si'akh, and told him stories about his travels. Yanizra was intrigued by the old shaman's preaching, and decided to try and find Si'akh, to hear one of his sermons for himself. He began to follow Si'akh and listen to his sermons, which seemed to make perfect sense to him. Sk'akh wouldn't have just let the nukes fall without a good reason, right? After around a year of following Si'akh, Yanizra decided he wanted to do more than just listen to the preaching, he wanted to serve the faith. He didn't believe he was charismatic enough to preach, and ruled that out quickly, but he'd heard about the Reavers of the Flame. About how they protected pilgrims as they followed Si'akh, and even fought the Maraziite's occasionally. It was an easy choice for him, and he traveled to a nearby fort the Reavers were based out of, where he spoke with a few members about joining. It was early 2451, almost a month after he arrived at the fort, when he committed to becoming a Reaver, taking an oath and cutting off his horns. He would spend the next seven years doing what was expected of him, protecting pilgrims from bandits and Maraziites, and guarding Si'akh himself when he preached nearby. His goals changed when a shaman visited the fort, who talked about a 'pilgrimage' to Tau Ceti, , and asked for volunteers to accompany them. Yanizra, who was starting to become bored of the same routine, decided to volunteer for the journey. The shaman, who had gathered around 30 other volunteers, began to teach them about human culture, and how to speak Tau Ceti Basic. After around 18 months, the shaman believed they were prepared enough to make the journey. Around 50 people would accompany the shaman, including Yanizra, the other volunteers, and the wives of the married ones. The journey would be fairly uneventful, with them catching a decently priced ship at a nearby shuttle port. When they arrived, they moved into what was essentially a renovated warehouse that the shaman had arranged for them, and they began speaking to other Unathi, attempting to convert them to Si'akh. Yanizra always felt somewhat out of place, he had never been very charismatic, and found it hard to approach others about the faith. A few months after they had arrived in Tau Ceti, they found that the money they had brought wouldn't stretch nearly as far as they had hoped, and they were close to bankruptcy already. Yanizra and a few of the other men, already burned out of the preaching, offered to find real jobs, to help pay for the others to keep up their work. The others agreed to the idea, and Yanizra began to search for a job. Eventually, he came across a job offer from Nanotrasen, for a job as a security officer aboard the NSS Antlia, which he took. He went through the 3 months of Academy training, he scored decently, falling behind on some written parts of the job, but making up for it in practical scenarios. His cadetship aboard the Antlia went smoothly, and they rarely dealt with anything more than a drunken employee. After his successful cadetship, he worked as an officer aboard the Antlia for another month or so, before he was offered to transfer to the Aurora, due to a surplus of officers aboard the Antlia. He accepted the transfer, and the small raise that came with it. What do you like about this character? While most of my characters are more vocal, energetic or cynical characters, Yanizra tends to be calm and stay quiet unless he has something important to add, so he'll be a nice change of pace. His Si'akh faith, his experiences during the contact war, and as a Reaver of the Flame will make for some interesting conversations, and will definitely come up at some point. His dedication to his religion over anything else will be interesting to play out, and make a good conversation-starter. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd give myself a 7 out of 10. I'm not the best, but I'm certainly improving. Notes: Will give ERP tokens for +1's.

[Denied] TheBimmer231 - Unban request
tbear13 replied to TheBimmer231's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Hi there. I was one of the officers you killed, so I just wanted to throw my experience out there. The incident was a while back and I may not have perfect memory, but I'll post what I do remember. The round started off pretty normal, regular security stuff, until the AI informed us that someone was on the command sub-level trying to tamper with it's laws or something. Me and another officer, I believe it was TheSmiley, but I can't remember, go down to make contact with you and resolve the problem. We head down the command elevator, I head up towards the AI core while the other officer moved towards the bunker. I hear some noises coming from the command bunker, so I leave the core entrance and go to assist the other officer. As I get there, I see them on the ground, dying or dead, as you repeatedly stab them with an e-sword. I drew my gun and started to give a "Get on the ground" command, but you immediately teleported behind me and killed me with the e-sword. As far as I know, you didn't say a single thing to either of us during the incident. Yeah, that's about all I had to add. It was a pretty blatant violation of the rules, as there were zero attempts to RP with security at any point. -
Alright, I can't say I disagree with the ruling here, based on what Catnip and Synn said, and I apologize for overreacting about the cleaning, so, sorry about that. I'll get that warning removed in a bit.
-
Hi there. So, yeah, the warning was applied for two major reasons. The first reason being that your janitor character, who is currently suspended, was going around the hallways and the sec lobby, cleaning all the floors with a bar of soap. To me, that seemed very much like you were trying to bypass the suspension, and even if that wasn't the intent, it essentially does. I understand that Willow is a germaphobe, but if my engineer got suspended, he wouldn't still be patching breaches and wiring the solars, no matter how much he dislikes leaving parts of the ship vented, y'know? As for the second reason, this isn't the first time you've been contacted by staff about, and been asked to stop, this sort of thing.
-
I'm gonna write feedback. Gonna hold off on a +1 or -1 for now, though. Looks about right. I've seen Erin around a time or two, but I've never interacted with you outside of that. I'm not quite sure what you mean by it taking time to get into the lore, but I have no major complaints about the answer. This is a good answer. Normal kitty childhood, meow! So, there're a few issues with this paragraph here, in my opinion. For starters, why did she think Long-Name Hadii being assassinated could be helpful? What made her support the ALA? It seems odd that she would admire NT as well, given her support for the ALA. I feel like her backstory was made to skirt around the major Tajaran plot-point. The war starts, then she's gone. She didn't endure any of the stuff that make Taj unique, y'know? In terms of the selflessness, how far is she gonna take that? Just wanna make sure she's not gonna charge an armed tatortot to let her friends escape, heh. You're a pretty good RPer, from the bit I've seen. I'd probably give you a 7.5-8. Remember to chase laser pointers and you'll be fine!

I would love to see this implemented. Disarm spam is annoying, it ruins melee weapons, since they can just be turned against you with a single click.

[Accepted] Trazz's IPC Application
tbear13 replied to Trazz666's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Never seen you ingame, so I'm gonna leave feedback based on the application alone. I agree with everything except the weaknesses vs strengths, everyone knows IPCs don't have weaknesses, and that they're the most robust thing in the game. Jokes aside, sounds good. So, this is both too vague and too specific. It says a few very minor things are different, then it just says "they're different." It doesn't really, well, identify what's different about them. So, I don't like this backstory to be honest. The pun name is kinda funny, but I dunno that it really fits. It's cool that he was made specifically to mine diamonds, and has some cool stuff to do that with, not something I've seen before. So, here's where the issues start. He got attacked by a giant space-monster, I mean, there really aren't spooky monsters in space, other than carp and sharks, as far as I know. Maybe change that? Then he.. got flung into space and he works for NT now? I find it hard to believe that they'd find him floating through space, and even more unlikely that his previous company would just let him go like that. I don't like that he was carrying enough diamonds to buy his freedom, either. That's over 2 million credits worth of diamonds, on him, that don't belong to him in the first place. Makes sense to me. beep-boop -

Well, the warning was going to be added either way, so, yeah. So, my issue with it this was that you didn't say they "might possibly" be anything. You said "they are modified with cybernetics or genetics, or they're an alien." You had zero hesitation or surprise about the discovery, and you seemed totally certain of it. Like I said previously, you were a (probably) untrained doctor, coming off an adrenaline high, after jumping into a brawl. I feel like, in that case, you wouldn't be a hundred percent certain of everything you saw. -

So hi there, I'm the guy you wrote this about. I'll go ahead and take this point by point. Yup, the round in question's ID was bUB-bY4v . So, yeah, I feel like we weren't quite on the same page during the PMs. My issue wasn't exactly that you came to the conclusion that they were either modified or not-human, but more that, after jumping into a fight as a (probably) untrained doctor, you immediately, and without any surprise, emotion, or taking any time to think about it, you say "This guy is either genetically modified, has cybernetics, or he's an alien," or something along those lines. I feel like someone, coming out of such an adrenaline filled few minutes, might second-guess themselves a bit at least, y'know? I suppose I didn't convey that exact concern quite as well as I could have, so I apologize for that. Well, the "accusation" wasn't just random. I had a concern about the behavior, and I wanted to bring it up with you. So, a note about this behavior was attached to the warning, just so other staff will know about the incident in the future. I hope this clears up all your concerns, feel free to bring up any more, though. -
This really belongs in the suggestion forum, since this isn't a personal item in the least.
-
I'd like to see this added in. It'd make ling a lot more enjoyable.

Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Tbear13 Character Name(s): Tyler White, Mark Sulyard, Aeson Palmer, Devi, Mraliikijr M'hakramar, Deacon Ellis, Vakaris Dvorak (ded) AI Name(s): None Discord username + tag: tbear13/brm375#4142 Age: 14 Timezone: EST When are you on Aurora?: 7 AM - 10 PM usually. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Since September, the 9th or so. How long have you played on Aurora: I started playing here a day after I started playing SS13 I think. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I'm familiar with combat and security stuff, the *basics* of engineering and medical, and know nothing about science. I'm also the worst cook this server has ever had. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Nope. Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yeah, I think I meet those criteria. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Nope. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I mean, it's just a really fun game. Every round is different, you never know what to expect. Why do you play on Aurora?: Well, I've played here pretty much since I started SS13 and it's been my go-to server ever since. The community is great, it has enough action to keep me entertained, and I've always loved some good roleplay. What do moderators do?: Well, they moderate. They make sure players are being chill and following the rules, keep roleplay going smoothly, and try to keep everyone happy. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Well, a moderator here has to be a little more roleplay focused than most, making sure everyone stays in character along with following the rules. It's not too much different than what I said above, really, just keep everything fun and roleplay focused. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I wanna help out the server and players, I guess. I've been playing here a while, and I think I'll enjoy giving a little back to the server. I would also like to abuse power as much as possible. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I'm usually pretty chill, I'm willing to help newer players, I'm active, and I know the rules. Also my meme game is at least an 8/10 How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I can handle insults and stress pretty well, but I do get pretty salty about something every once in a while. I'm working on that. Anything Else You Want to Add: If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to shoot me a PM at tbear13/brm375#4142 .
-
Yeah, that's better. Another thing I forgot to mention in my first post, maybe change the name? It's supposed to be a personal item, calling it "psychs turtleneck" doesn't really get that across very well.
-
So, you can't have an item that protects you from damage in most, if not all cases. I suggest removing the armor. The lore behind the armory is shaky at best, anyway.

Hi, so I don't have much to say on the complaint, I actually like Arrow as a captain, but this part is false. I'm the one who killed that wiz. And I did think he was in paincrit. Might wanna add some more context around the revolution round the complaint is about, too.
