[Resolved] Player complaint - LordRaven001
tbear13 replied to ZetaGundumb's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Me and Synth will be taking the complaint. I'd like to hear your side of this, @LordRaven001 -
I support the suggestion. I don't see a reason for a detective, who's supposed to be a back-line role, to be armed better then the ones in front-line roles. What's the reason for that?

Filling in since Catnip is no longer a part of the staff team. Due to the fact that you were caught ban dodging less then a week ago, I'll be denying this appeal. You can try to appeal again in March. Locking and archiving.

[Accepted] Dinobubba7's Head of Staff Application

+1 from me. Dino is a great roleplayer, fun to talk to, and a good member of the community. I believe he'll make a good head. -
ATLAS Gathering - Biesel Storm Division
tbear13 replied to Zundy's topic in NanoTrasen Public Network
I, Petar Zivic, Security Officer, would like to register my interest in this meeting. -
Pretty much what paradox said. All this will really accomplish is making the captain an invalid target for most antags, and I really don't see a reason to do that.
-
Maybe giving the detective an e-pistol instead of a revolver/.45 would be better? Gives them a lethal and stun option.
-
Big +1 to this. I love using ballistics, and I'd love to see them be used more often by security. I don't this will mess with balancing too much either.
-
I really can't support this. Heads don't need a 'screw that antag' button. Even if it was negated with a radio jammer, that's something most antags can't get their hands on.

I like this idea. Giving security a reliable way to take down a hostile IPC without an insta-kill would be nice, and 20 seconds is plenty of time to handcuff or disable them.
-
Not a fan of this idea. It really limits security's options when it comes to dealing with IPCs. An IPC with nanopaste can soak up a lot of lasers and easily keep fighting. Security's only real options would be to wait 10 minutes for one rifle, which takes 60% of their department funds, or fight the IPC anyway, and probably take a fair amount of casualties themselves. Maybe just give borgs some EMP resistance instead? I don't see an issue with the ion rifle as it is right now, personally.

(Accepted) Teh Flamin Taco's Skrell Application
tbear13 replied to TehFlaminTaco's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Overall, I'm neutral on the application. It leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm not totally against it either. I've seen Zhao around, and DRUID once or twice. My biggest complaint is with Zhao, his nationality seems to be the only unique, or interesting thing about him. His entire personality seems to be entirely based around the fact that he's Dominian. As for a black skrell, that seems like a very unconventional color. As far as I know, they aren't any black skrell at all. This answer is a single, generic sentence. It should be a paragraph, detailing exactly what you like about Skrell. This doesn't really answer the question. It mentions alien culture, and a single real difference. Talk about why they're special, not just the fact that they are. What made him take such an interest in space travel? Does he have any other interests? What's his opinion of the state of the Skrell and the Federation? Being accepted into Gliutip is quite an accomplishment, considering their low acceptance rates. Did he do anything in his time before acceptance, specifically anything that gave him in edge in the application process? When you say he studied space flight, what does that mean exactly? Was it for engineering, piloting, navigation, or what? A general 'space flight' degree seems rather pointless, considering how most jobs on a space ship are specialized, even more so due to the lack of AI. What research was he doing, and how did he transition from standard flight to bluespace, was it hard for him to do? What job will Wiop have on the station, and why did he move to Tau Ceti? This is kind've a short answer, so I'll ask one more question. How was he affected by the aftermath, and stories, of Glorsh? The application was pretty basic, and left a lot of stuff out. I'd love to hear your answers to my questions, to shed a little more light on the character. -

BurgerBB's Developer Application
tbear13 replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I'll give Burger a +1. We don't always get along the best, but that really isn't important to the application. He's a good coder, and he probably does more than most devs. I don't see a reason not to give him a trial, at least. As for what Neinbox said, I would argue that, dev or not, he has no obligation to drop his other PRs and code whatever you want, just because you're a loredev. Being a loredev doesn't give you the ability to control what devs make and when they make it. If you don't like a dev telling you he can't code for you, learn to code for yourself. If you can't get the free time to do that, don't expect a dev to free up his schedule for you every time you ask for something. -
I'm not sure if there is. Arrow768 is that possible?

If there was a way to make the thunderdome players not generate attack logs, this would be pretty fun to have!

Hi! Sorry it took me a while to get to this, I meant to post earlier, but forgot about it. I'll skip the 'questions' part and answer your more detailed description of what happened. Just so you know, I was playing Bradley Stennett, one of the other engineers. Okay, so, this paragraph shows the problem I had with your actions. The raider broke in, heavily armed, and obviously not wanting to be messed with. Your first reaction was to grab a weapon and begin threatening him, getting a pick-axe and telling him to stop what he was doing. You got up only a tile away, as you said, and when he asked what you would do about it, you yelled 'This!' and charged at him with the pick-axe. Whatever your intentions were, you made it appear that you were trying to hurt or kill the raider. The raider reacted the apparent attack by chopping off your leg with a fire-axe. The problem wasn't that you didn't emote after you got the pick-axe, the problem was that your apparently untrained and terrified engineer's first reaction to a hostile was to grab a pick-axe and begin threatening him. Roleplay isn't all about emoting, it's about playing a realistic character, and a realistic reaction wouldn't be to threaten him. While it wasn't your intention to silently attack him, it definitely appeared that way to other people involved. Conflict, and to a lesser extent combat, are both valid forms of roleplay, even if they don't involve a lot of emoting and interaction.

Looks pretty cool! It should give gunfights a little extra weight, since you won't be relying on RNGesus quite so much.

Hi, so I've had a similar issue with Willow Harper in the past few days, and I wanted to bring it up here. I don't have the round ID or logs, however. Starting off with some background, the round was Malf, and the AI was running a gimmick that involved 'breaking' and being re-lawed to be obsessed with cookies. I'm a security borg, and re-lawed by the AI. After the AI and other borg shut down, I was told to get re-lawed. I managed to avoid being re-lawed, and bothered the chef about making me cookies for around thirty minutes, waving a baton or taser around a few times to 'encourage' her. So, onto the actual incident! I was leaving the kitchen and headed towards the bathroom to use the charger in there, when Willow stops me outside the kitchen. She demands that I stop bothering the chef, apparently a good friend of hers. I refuse to stop, and she begins threatening me, telling me that she'll destroy me if I don't stop. After I continue to refuse, she picks up a stool and starts walking towards me, apparently trying to attack me, and I pull out a baton, making sure to show that I'm armed with a Me verb. After she gets close, we have a minute-long standoff, before the chef finally manages to talk her down. The issue itself isn't too bad, but it does show a lack of fear RP in my opinion. She was willing to fight an armed borg, who she knew was malfunctioning and, to an extent, violent, with a bar stool. My problem with Willow isn't that she tries to help friends, it's the fact that she's willing to do *anything* to help them. It seems that she doesn't care about the consequences of her actions, including death. I can recall another incident where I was the Head of Security, when me and a few others were speaking to a traitor we'd locked up in solitary. Willow ran up to solitary, and began bothering security, getting in their way, and heckling us about us 'violating the prisoner's rights.' She refused to leave until she was flashed, cuffed, and literally dragged out of security, only avoiding being charged because we were too busy at that point. And this pretty much shows the same thing, to a lesser extent. She tried to help her friend, while ignoring several orders from security to leave, and was willing to take any punishment she received just to make the point.

TheOrleans against Capesh - Report
tbear13 replied to TheOrleans's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
So, I actually spoke with Capesh about this during the round. We usually don't double-down on punishments, so this can probably just be closed by an admin.
