You're over exaggerating. There would definitely be a hardcap on how many items in security would be gone. Worst case scenario would likely be -1 shotgun and -1 carbine. It also takes 10 minutes for a shipment to arrive. 4 minutes to the destination, 4 minutes back, 2 minutes of cargo delivering the item.

It's possible to do. HTML interface that sends updates to the players playing and anyone who opted into observe. However, implementing chess rules (ie automatically determining how a piece moves) is probably way too much work and it would be better if there was freedom.

feedback on devs 41.4% approval rating, well you suck too smh

In a future update I will be expanding the maximum viewrange up from 8x8 to 9x9. With the taskbar being removed and the chatlog being shrunk a little, you'll be able to see 8.5x8.5.

Optional is not an option.

since there is no feedback this is being speedmerged i hope you guys enjoy it

It would make the game more interesting but it could cause issues as the equipment each department starts out with is (relatively) carefully balanced. I would support this if departments had a way of knowing if there was a supply shortage, such as a centcomm start-of-round message that informs heads of staff that they may need to order more supplies.

[Withdrawn] Burger's Developer Application
BurgerBB replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
The slur wasn't directed at you, or anyone. It was a quote from typical racists who use the "I didn't call you a x, I only COMPARED you to an X" when they try to provoke people of color. The Aurorastation discord has a pretty clear policy on the use of the n-word. If you search it up on discord, you can see various staff members, users, and godking garn himself using it appropriately in humor, however again, I apologize to anyone who was offended by this. Also, I wasn't aware that this whole situation regarding what was said was unresolved. I was under the impression that it was resolved because in a discord DM, we both moved on as showcased in the complaint thread about you. As I said earlier, the "downie" comment I made was terrible and I apologize for making it, -
About a month ago I found out you could directly modify the UI. This excited me because the current UI is ass and needs serious changing. My first suggestion is to move the chat bar underneath the chat box, so there is more screen space for people who run non 4:3 monitors. I also made a change where the default chat to tab information ratio is 4 to 1.

[Withdrawn] Burger's Developer Application
BurgerBB replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Alright, this may sound like I'm deflecting most of the blame here, but I suggest reading until the end since I like doing things chronologically. I posted an idea and some work in the discord channel. Someone unofficially said "It's shit" and I responded by saying that I don't like when they say that. This irritated me a little, and the irritation got a little worse Scheveningen butted in saying that I'm not addressing their point, so I then get back on topic and start talking about the point at hand. Scheveningen proceeded to make backhand comments about how I don't value other people's opinions, which irritated me again, but I opted out to avoid opening that can of worms. A productive conversation about the addition ensured with other users. After the conversation, announced that I will be trying to change the viewport to 640x640 to see what would happen in a test, and then I left to check on my guacamole. I come back to lohikar got a little heated due to Scheveningen's inability to understand the change and announced that they were done trying to explain that to them, but Scheveningen made a backhand comment that Lohikar ignored (https://i.imgur.com/9H3O0aA.png). I asked if people got upset with my 640x640 test, and people said yes. I expressed my amusement via caps lock cruise control and tried explaining that it was a test on my personal pc and I don't even know if it actually does anything (spoiler alert: it does nothing). For reasons not quite known to me, Scheveningen brought up the fact that I called him a disabled manchild quite a while ago, and posted an old screenshot of me doing such. I made a huge mistake and corrected him, saying that at the time I actually called him autistic and said that he was disruptive and buts into other people's buisness like an child with down's syndrome in the back of the class. It's the silly "I didn't call you an X, I said that you were LIKE an X" defense, which I admitted was a bad defense, and I admitted that what I said was awful; hence the analogy that racists typically use when they call people racial slurs, and me saying that it's a bad defense and a bad post. What I said at that time was awful and no staff member should say such things, and I apologize for making such comments in the past. As for the comments perceived to be racist, they weren't meant to be bigoted or racist. I fully apologize to anyone who may have been offended by my use of the n-word, and I half apologize to [mention]ParadoxSpace[/mention]. It seemed at the time that everyone was a little heated, especially me, and I do not take any remarks made towards me personally. -
There is a good idea from this. I suggest making it a choice to play another character as traitor or play the current character you rolled as traitor. This would allow more control over the gimmick people chose if there is a slot open for it. Edit: Oh goodness, I didn't read the thread. This is exactly what people are proposing. I assumed it was totally different from the people talking shit on discord.

FASCISMFORTHOSEWHOWANTIT complaint 2, electric boogaloo

Locking down a medical borg because they said they don't want to play medical is incredibly excessive. -
[Resolved] Player Complaint - ArmoryBlaine
BurgerBB replied to CommanderXor's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
While I feel that ArmoryBlaine can be a bit validhunty at times, I genuinely think he's able to roleplay. I remember having a more than pleasant interaction with his character, Carmichael, when I did something antag related. -
Weapon permits do exist, it will be up to the Head of Security to start handing out firearm licenses, and 99% of the time they won't.
-
What is thing change? I can't be upset about it if I don't know what the fuck it is.

Slipping on gibs is something fit for /tg/ or something MRP. Having a buggy RNG mechanic on something that could easily end or interrupt round progression is a joke on HRP.
-
Slipping on a gibs was a meme mechanic introduced by gods know who. It was a nearsighted implementation that shouldn't exist in an HRP setting, and it's really badly coded because gib slipping chances stack with the amount of blood/gibs on a tile. For example, a pile of gibs has a 5% chance to slip someone when they're walking. 8 gibs on a tile will now calculate that 5% chance 8 times. Dismissing a genuine suggestion because you think it's a "i died pls restart" suggestion is a plight to the suggestion forums.

I genuinely think that ammo based weapons are fine. It allows the Warden to control whether or not security can use lethals or not.

FASCISMFORTHOSEWHOWANTIT complaint 2, electric boogaloo
BurgerBB replied to Trazz666's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I feel that this player is the epitome of a bad Aurorastation antag. Lack of involvement with other people, throws their cyborgs under the bus if it suits them, tells their cyborgs to go away any time they ask nicely to get involved, the focus is always 99% themselves and 1% the handful of people they choose to RP with. I don't know why they play like this, it's so infuriating that this sort of thing happens every time they play traitor AI. Do they just despise cyborgs? Do they despise allies? I don't mean to bring up old grudges but my previous complaint was closed because the admins found that our two gimmicks collided with each other when that wasn't the reason for their behavior. They just hate working with cyborgs, for some reason and like their RP very small and very contained. -
tbh both modes should work at the same time

There is a lot of things that are wrong about these series of events. The Sol Marines did not tell the station of any consequences of a refusal, let alone that a meeting existed at all. It was exclusively a meeting between the Captain and the sol marine leader. The Captain refused behind a closed door meeting that not even I, the station's AI, had access to listen to. The crew never refused or was even informed of stakes of this meeting. The Captain refused and the station had to suffer for it. You basically said that this was tough titties because "this was war" or something. Now this whole issue of power is a meme because I disabled the APC multiple times as AI and there was nothing happening. Every single machine leeches off an APC. That's how every object gets its power source. However, I found out after the round in code, the bluespace cannon does not use power at all. It does not take or require any sort of power whatsoever. There is no charge rating on the bluespace canon so it couldn't drain power. There was no flag telling it to drain power so it couldn't literally drain power. I remember where you tried this sol marine bluespace cannon event before and the AI blew up the supermatter successfully. There was 0 power to the station and the engineering area was damaged beyond repair. However, after less than 5 minutes, it was announced via central command that the Sol Marines constructed a tesla in under 3 minutes so they could fire more shots. You keep saying that the crew wishes to do something creative, but every time they do something creative you find some excuse to shut the crew down and continue your event. There was 0 social possibility for the crew to interact with the sol marines because it would've been pants on head retarded to go up to a deathsquad wearing sol marine armed to the teeth asking for a drinking contest or something. I witnessed a security officer tried surrendering, and ended up getting shot multiple times before they accepted their surrender.

So what I'm noticing is a lot of players are super unhappy with a lot of the recent non-canon "murderbone" events. This has been reflected due the (somewhat) recent poll where a lot of players prefer canon events over non-canon events, the fact that every time someone asks for a vote on a non-canon event it only passes by a slim <~5% margin. The most recent event wasn't great either. There was a lot of stuff that people complained about in deadchat, but of course there are the usuals who just meme their way out of it by dismissing it all as salt without acknowledging the genuine criticism to the event. It's just incredibly depressing when I see the community, sometimes even staff members, deflect the blame by blaming anyone but themselves for these events, usually by just screaming "you're salty bro" over and over again like that contributes anything. I don't want t speak for everyone, but when I complain about these events it's because there is absolutely zero RP going around, it's just constant action; usually worse than a crossfire round. I saddens me when I see these types of events happen. I just want more RP on my HRP server. I hope this doesn't make things worse, but I just want everyone to remind everyone about the forum rules and actually maintain proper etiquette when giving complaints.

Unless you have a better idea, antmen would be affect the same as it currently is, but just with improved code.
-
Wasn't expecting people to dogpile the idea tbh but here is my mindset with every flash change. Modular Flashes Flashes can be weak, okay, or strong. Weak flashes will be used by non-security, including cyborgs and heads of staff. If you're not security and you're normally supposed to have a flash, you'll spawn instead with a weak flash that breaks easier and has a bad battery. Okay flashes will be used by security, and if there is ever an issue where flashes are OP when used by security, I could just nerf the okay flashes instead. Same goes for all the other flashes. Modular flashes are for immersion purposes too. I don't like how the entire flash is useless if the bulb breaks, why not replace the bulb? Also, how does a flash get its power source? This update will give flashes interchangeable bulbs and batteries so it actually makes sense. Batteries Explained above, immersion. It also allows me to control the balance of weak flashes, and allows me to determine how many charges a flash should get and let players customize their own. Also allows for some great antagery (phoron injection, anyone?) Bulbs Different bulbs determine the strength of the flash itself. Think of it like insulted gloves and budget insulated gloves. It's difficult to use a weak flash to hit someone offensively given how easy it is to break, especially when you consider the shitty AA battery the flash also has. Research Research needs more non-lethal objects. If people don't like this idea, then perhaps bulbs can be order from cargo instead. Blindness No clue why people think I'm REPLACING the white light, or worse, no clue why people think this is a bad idea. It's adding the white light and then adding the temporary blindness to the player. The blind flag actually MAKES them mechanically blind, meaning that they won't be able to see things mechanically. If you're flashed in the current version, you can still see messages like "Rob Oster hit Urist Fag with the frying pan!" when instead it should say "You hear a metal bang." Blurry eyes Eye blur seems like it would stick around after you've been hit in the eyes with a high powered flash. it's an entirely cosmetic effect, and only lasts 10 seconds, so it's no big deal. Flashes causing confusion/disorientation If you're hit by a high power light straight into the eyes, you're going to be dazed and confused by wear your bearings are. You won't stutter around like an idiot, but it's likely you'll be a few tiles off in your intended direction. If you're in a large hallway, no big deal. If you're in a tight area, you'll be affected. Flashes causing slow I might remove this tbh just to calm the fears that flashes would be used for evil more than they should be. Besides, the taser needs to be used more. Flashes causing clumsiness You're blind. Disoriented. Dazed. You're going to be clumsy and possibly might end up shooting yourself in the foot.
