[CLOSED] Saintsbury's Antag-Unban Appeal
Jennalele replied to Saintsbury's topic in Unban Requests Archive
There is such thing as escalation and elevation. I wasn't here for the earlier round, but I was there to personally witness the incident this ban was given for. Hi. I play Jasper Logans, the wheelchair bound roboticist that was ling'd. Let me explain what caused this ban. Roll down the hall from the bar. Start talking to an EMT. Casual stuff. Recognize Saintsbury's character go by. Jokingly LOOC "oi saints. you suck," and then I continue with my day. Start heading towards Robotics to do cyborg cell upgrades and get the xenobotanist a farmbot. Suddenly, I can't talk- I'm assuming it was a mute sting. Fun. I will stress that not a single word, in say, me, or radio, has been uttered by Saintsbury at this point, n'or does he utter one when he unbuckles me from the wheelchair and drags me down into maintenance. Not a SINGLE WORD OR ME was, at ANY time, spoken, before he tried to absorb me. At this point, he's winded by the rest of staff. It has been half a year, yes, but in that half a year, Saintsbury's antag game clearly hasn't improved enough. Here's the logs. I'll post a raw form (minus IP addresses), and a clipped form, from first interaction (LOOC joking to the point he was winded): I'm not going to comment on the earlier round you mentioned, but things like this, coupled with past incidents, is often grounds for an antag ban. If you want to discuss the incidents of the other round, make a new thread for it, don't bring it into this one. -
You have until the 4th of May to reply to this thread, or we will have to deny your appeal for inactivity.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, things have been hectic over here. You clearly understand what the rules are, but you continue to have issues following them, leading to incidents like this on the regular. I'd like to help you identify where the disconnect is so that we don't have to play out this pantomime over and over.
-
Alright, this one must have been really old if Casper banned you, but I'm curious- Are you aware of what rule you broke, why it's there, et cetera? I'll be happy to unban you, but I'd like some clarification to make sure we don't see a repeat of what initially got you banned. Welderbombs are one thing, but Aurora is heavy RP. Are you going to hold up that standard?

The issue here is that we've been here... How many times, now? I count five, perma or otherwise, to your name, in under a year. Which begs the question, have you really learned? You've been here since May of 2015. You should know the rules like the back of your hand, but instead, you've been consistently accumulating notes, warnings and temp-bans over transgressions like this. I'm hardly convinced. How can you prove to us, the staff team, that you've really learned this time?

Re-evolve. Become "Sea of Red And Lit Batons Looming Overhead." Profit. ...No really, we need to be able to get our actual plantman names back after we evolve pls. I don't mind if it's a prompt, or if something stores our original name, or what. Shit's gotta get fixed. D:

Hi there, I can't remember if anyone claimed this before the minor rollback, so I'll be handling your appeal today. Generally, a 1 minute ban is, IIRC, an issue with how our server mirrors bans across different ckeys- You wouldn't happen to have another ckey on the IP address you were banned on, would you? This aside, I'll leave this open for a day or two in case anyone else has feedback- It looks good, however, and you seem to understand what you did wrong. If all goes well, this should go through in short time! Cheers.

Question. I wasn't here for this, I spent the day sick on my ass. But why can't we just keep canon what happened before the Tesla was released and the shitshow went down? There were some great interactions that I'd be sad to see go, from what I heard. Can't we just canonize the good bits? I mean, that's probably what we'd do if someone griffed the supermatter or plasma'd the entire station. Why not this.

Nebs! <3 We miss you. Good to hear from you, hopefully we can see you around in-game again some time soon.

Butterrobber's Head Whitelist App
Jennalele replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
You have an OOC attitude that, for a reason I can't quite pin, rubs me the wrong way. I want to say impatient or immature, but neither quite hit the nail on the head. I'm giving this a respectful NAY (-1) because of this, as well as what you believe the OOC reason of a Head is. It seems too.. Conflict-driven, like you expect them to be the be-all-end-all messiah of a crew of toddlers. I'll tell you from experience: Going into a situation with the expectation that everyone is going to be retarded and needs hand-holding every step of the way is a guaranteed way to be hated, and to seriously fuck up in some capacity or another. From an IC perspective, this can generate interesting situations, but when shared as a view from an OOC standpoint, it doesn't sit right. Reiterating: NAY. -1. -
A conflicting opinion to your own is not unfair judgement. Generally speaking when there is an unanimous agreement by a server's staff that you do not seem ready to come back, it means they honestly do not think you are ready to come back. I have some honest tips for you if you want to come back to Aurora. Work on your spelling and grammar. In your appeals, in your messages, in-RP. Nobody is rushing you, especially on the forums, and when your appeal looks like it took five minutes to make, complete with shoddy grammar and run-on sentences, it doesn't reflect well on how much you want to dedicate to the server. Take pride in your writing, and take the time to do it right. Consider the other side of the fence. No argument is one sided, and what you may see from your end could be completely different from what is seen on the other side. This goes for RP as well as actual interaction between players on the forum. Don't be afraid to take a step back. If a post upsets you, you are not obliged to immediately reply when you're still seeing red over it. You are allowed to take time to reply. Wait until your head clears, look at it again, and think, "Does posting this help the situation, or worsen it?". If the answer is worse, then take another ten minutes, step back, and rewrite. You have potential, but if you keep throwing yourself at a wall doing the same thing, over and over, you're not going to improve or go any further. Makes sense?

I agree with this. I don't like the idea of removing the subs, it looks like a lot of the ERT system has been glazed over and kind of made redundant and nonsensical. Most troopers specialize, in their own way, anyways, having sec troopers remain the only normal troopers is kind of fucky, IMO. Just because a specialization isn't combative, IE, medics and engineering specialists, doesn't mean they should be a separate 'rank'. Furthermore, I feel like losing the 2IC "sub" rank kind of puts a wrench in things. Before, if the L/Tpr died, the Sub could take over effectively. Now, a medic or an engineer that may not actually be that great of a commander has to take over, in terms of chain of command. It just seems like this whole thing is unnecessary. I preferred the ERTs the way they were before. It was nice.

I really like the idea of rescue balls. Maybe some could be stored in EVA, and some with softsuits in the emergency lockers.

[Accepted] Serveris6's Diona Application
Jennalele replied to Serveris's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
EDIT: Somehow I just posted "I" last time. Edited the actual message in. I've had many rounds with Serv, I hope to have many more. He's a great RPer, and I've seen some great stuff spawn from interactions with him and his characters. Give this man his rustles. -
Hi, I just applied the ban as for some reason, Voltage couldn't. I'll let them take over from here. I arrived after the whole shebang.

Katana, Kunai and ECOM are all pretty great, but I've never seen zavi about. ECOM is a little annoying, and you need to be firm with him to get what you want sometimes, IE, "Override that alert." "Can't do it b0ss" "ECOM, as the head of security and a direct witness to these events I am declaring the situation valid and not viable for charge of animal cruelty. Drop the alert." You just gotta tell him the reasoning, from what I've learned, which is reasonable and makes sense. For people who just fling themselves headfirst at the wall repeatedly doing the same thing, yeah, it's annoying, but they're dumb and one day we'll purge them all in glorious, glorious fire. Kunai is top tier. I love their military tastes, and find that they can be surprisingly witty if given the right opportunity and time. Never had an issue with 'em. Same goes for Katana of all variations: They're great, reliable, and even as an antag tend to be very un-murderboney whilst still making things fun for crew.

My issue with Engineering right now is that it seems to be attracting a lot of balds/protobalds/dumbasses/assholes, generally the crowd I don't join to deal with. I used to play Sieverts regularly, but I really can't be assed to deal with the hassle anymore.

Reporting Personnel: Ashlyn Talin Rank of Reporting Personnel: Forensic Technician Personnel Involved: Douglas Finlay (Officer, witness), Dylan Wright (Officer, witness), Jamie Clark (Atmospherics Tech, subject of complaint) Time of Incident: (~10 AM EST on March 29th) Real time: (^) Location of Incident: Science Maintenance, Comms, Brig Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty [x]Harassment [x]Assault []Misconduct [x]Other (Sexual Harassment/Assault) Overview of the Incident: So, the shift started as normal. I was pulling Forensics with Detective Ron Alfred, no officers for the first fifteen minutes of the shift. Dylan Wright shows up shortly thereafter, but takes some time to gear up. We're made aware of an issue with Engineering, the details of which I don't know- It was between Wright and the Chief Engineer. Wright asks Jamie Clark to come up to Security for a few questions. Clark refuses, cusses us out, and runs off to hide. We're told to go arrest him, and after 15 more minutes decide he's sparked a manhunt, considering we have to scour the station for him. Ron Alfred and I used his PDA to be able to track him, as he'd disabled his sensors. Ron regularly sent messages, and I tracked the little pip noises. We found him hiding in an airlock and took him down. From the time I slapped cuffs on him to the time Wright met us back at the brig, Clark had been making extremely sexual comments towards me. There were multiple attempts to pull and sniff my hair, touch me, as well as very blunt statements of his intentions, such as "You will stay in my basement," "You will be mine whether you want to or not." On its own, this is something I'm used to. I didn't think anything of it, and an officer told me to toss him in Solitary. He opened the door, and let me pull him inside, but seemed to forget I lacked access. He wandered off as soon as I went inside, and as I took the cuffs off of Clark, the doors locked behind me. At this point, he told me it was just us, and he would be able to have his way. He called me his "Sugar bunny," then shoved me down before I could call for help. I dropped my cuffs in the process, which he proceeded to use to cuff me down, instead. He was holding me aggressively against the ground with fairly clear intent by the time Officer Wright showed back up, wondering what was taking me so long. He tased down Clark, pulled me back, and had Medical look me over while he dealt with Clark. I don't know what happened to him the rest of the shift. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: No, but it was reported to the psych, whom I believe messaged Central. Additional notes: N/A

Sleepy and Dreviore have it about right here. There's absolutely no reason bound Vaurca can't be antags. You can play it so many different ways: Only pretending to be bound, being bound to Lii'dra (which carries different impliations, including the understanding all decent drones should have of not disgracing and embarassing the hive by hurrdurr'ing all the information up when asked...), et cetera. I'm inclined to lock this within the next 24 hours if the OP has nothing else to add. Furthermore, let's not derail this into a discussion of lore and tweaks. This is a complaint, not a suggestion board.

I have friends nearby in Belgium, but they're fine. Apparently, the whole country is on lockdown. One of said friends is on a college campus now, he said he saw officers from both France and Germany in the area. Heart goes out to anyone and everyone affected. This is awful.

Space Fucker, Internal Affairs Agent FURFAG DICKBAG, Shaft Miner Parm Jean, Chef Allahu Ackbar, Plasma Researcher Aloha Snackbar, Plasma Researcher ^ I've seen all of these.

I'd laugh if it gave some sort of damage to human species, or made them nauseous. "Ooh, what's this, new candy from the vending machine..." Puking their guts out two minutes later. Please, add the K'ois.

I haven't seen you in game, but I've spied you on Wake and enough other places to figure your general maturity level in terms of RP, not to mention that this app seems thought out and planned. I'd be comfortable giving this a +1 by way of "there isn't anything inherently BAD about you that I've noticed." Don't make us look silly now!

TL;DR he used something we use a lot, but tried to use it for another thing. The server didn't like it.

Okay, ignoring the above post. The issue isn't that we don't have the tools for the job, Nanako, its that water does slow damage over time to slimes, in which period they get pissed off at you that you're killing them, and glomp. Water and temperature needs to do instant damage to them again. I can't count the amount of times the RD has had to drag Vesri off for slimes gone wrong.
