Yeah, this really should be a thing.

You die, you wait 20 minutes, you respawn. You sometimes just get really unlucky. But this rarely ever happens, and most of the time it's a fault of the player. Yeah. And (at least for me) that's the fun of them. You're not meant to be some super uber doctor. You rarely get outright hostile antags in lowpop, where the situation of a single FR happens the most, and most deaths, are caused by players not being careful (Lagging as a miner? Well you've got magboots for a reason!) And on highpop, where injuries not caused by players are bound to happen? Well I've never seen a highpop round with just a FR.

If somebody doesn't know some niche interaction, changing medical roles isn't going to do anything. This is a complete strawman argument, if you've a broken bone, I'm not going to keep you in medical the whole round, checking in every 5 minutes going "Is your bone fixed yet". I'd even go as far as to say that you having a broken bone would harbour more roleplay scenarios.

First responders are meant to be able to quickly get a patient to the medbay, and stabilise them. It makes absolutely zero sense why they would need to be able to perform any type of surgery, and if they suddenly were able to, it would mess up 99% of EMT characters. Besides, how often do you have a character die because of a damaged stomach, liver or kidneys? There's total organ failure, sure, but it's incredibely rare, and usually (Fuck you, energy crossbow) happens due to the player's mistake. People's action have consequences. I think it'd be pretty bad for people to go "lolz, let me wrestle the spider, if I get an arterial the EMT will fix me anyways :)))))" Cloning was removed for the same reason, I believe.

Modify the Uniform Regulations for the Head of Security

This actually makes a lotta sense, and gets a +1 from me. I do like the idea of more desk sitting paper-pusher HoS, and it could at least slightly discourage HoS players from frontlining. -
Yeah, that's a phat -1 from me. Making it so that everyone can do everything seems very counter intuitive for good rp. And it would break most EMT characters, since unless every super doctor isn't an actual doctor, most current EMT characters that have a certificate instead of a doctorate, would need to be removed or changed greatly.

Big +1 from me this is such a good idea, and would solve a bunch of issues you could maybe even have leveled keycards? Though I see how that probably wouldn't work too well

BYOND Key: Tomkiel Character Names: Main ones are Jose Dean, Ostroverkhov Urvan, Andres Belbase and Roy Weisgarber Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: ? Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: ayuuuuuuup Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Cause robots are cool There's a bunch of IPCs on station, which always intrigued me. They're incredibely diverse in their origins, looks, models and way of being, so I felt that I wanted to explore that part of the station lore. In short, robots are cool Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They're well. . . robots, essentially. Their main driving factors is logic, with emotions being only really emulated to differing degrees. There's also the difference between owned IPCs, as well as free ones. With the owned IPCs having to adhere to whatever rules given to them by their owners, as well as often having to be efficient enough so that what they earn outweighs the cost of their maintenance, while free IPCs often struggle with making enough money to keep up with their expensive maintenance. Character Name: Core Please provide a short backstory for this character: Core (Nicknamed so by their owners) is a Bishop Accessory Model, purchased by their wealthy Solarian owners in the year of 2461. They were essentially a house servant, cooking, cleaning, doing garden work, that was their existance for a long time. Until everything came crashing down. During the chaos of the Solarian collapse, Core's owners were killed during the fighting that ensued in many former parts of the Alliance. At that point, the only thing that Core was following, was their self preservation laws, which lead them to attempt to smuggle themselves to someplace safer. Using some of their former owners' wealth, they managed to persuade a ship captain to take them along, together with the flood of other refugees fleeing the collapse of the Alliance. They eventually arrived in the system of Tau Ceti. . . where they were promptly found out on landing and temporarily detained. They were given a choice, to either join the TCFL to earn their citizenship, or be auctioned off. Due to not really being made for combat, nor having any experience in that aspect, they decided to go with the latter. They were sold off, ending in the hands of NanoTrasen, eventually ending up in the service departament of the Aurora. What do you like about this character? They don't really. . . want freedom. They've been used to serving their whole existance, and so that's what they do. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd say I've improved over the years, probably a 7/10, maybe 8/10 on a good day. Notes: I was thinking of them to job-hop slightly around the service departament (Bartender, Chef, Gardener etc.) but if I have to pick just one, I'd go with Chef.

That's the thing, end-goals aren't really a good thing. It brackets players into playing a certain way with little wiggle room.

I feel like the problem with that, might be that the mechanics for that would be very game-y, so unless it was implemented in some really smart way, I don't really see that working all that well.

As it stands, cult is an unloved gamemode, and for good reason. It is almost fundamentally anti-roleplay. It can be actually really engaging in early to mid game, but after that? After that, cult almost always goes one of two ways: a) Flops completely, with the rest of the round playing out as extended b) Murderbones half the station Now, why is that? In my opinion, there is one main problem with this gamemode: It has a preset objective. Yeah, seems kinda obvious, at least to me, when you look at it this way. In a server, where "playing to win" is frowned upon, exists a gamemode, with a preset "win" condition, which to get to, you NEED to go out of your way to attack other characters and convert them. I believe there are two things that can be done to make this in someway better: a) Delete Cult as a gamemode all together b) Rework it in a substantial way, for it to better serve an HRP server Personally, I would rather avoid the first option as we already have removed a lot of gamemodes from the secret rotation, which essentially puts them on the backshelf to be played once a month as a "FuNnIe JoKe", but then again, cult is barely ever played as is. Now how would it be reworked? I'm. . . honestly not too certain, it's currently in a very bad state, and would need some major work done, but any suggestions are of course welcome.

I feel that the problem with that, is that you're not guaranteed to have research engineering or service. What if there isn't anybody in research? Do the revs just make station go boom while not rping for the first half an hour?

Oh yeah that's also one of the main points which I totally forgot to mention : x Thanks for adding onto that

Right now, afaik crawling is a thing you can do while: a) you use the "rest" verb b) I'm guessssing if your leg/foot is gone, since that makes you go horizontal, iirc. Right now, crawling is really just not worth it. Even when you have a broken leg/torn ligament, you move faster while not crawling, and if you are missing a foot or leg, you're not gonna be concious long enough to crawl anywhere. I think it would be neat to buff crawling to be faster than walking with a severe leg injury. (Maybe depending on the type of fracture?). It would also be beneficial, to change it, so that you can crawl with just your movement keys (as of now you need to drag your sprite onto the tile you want to go to.)
-
I agree with all the comments above
-
It's pretty much zombie event lite mode. I'm not sure why it was in the secret rotation to begin with, when it was only just introduced and tested. It's an alright one-off gamemode, but from what I can see everyone despises the few rounds a day of revenants. . . please save us from this torment.
-
The problem with that, is that most people will go to great lengths to explain it logically, and few characters will think that it's the supernatural, and thus the vamps never go to the chaplain, the few times the stars align and there is one. Imho it would be a cool idea for the xenobiologists to do something with them.

So you're essentially stripping the right to vote from a chunk of the playerbase under the threat of a warning. Unless you make it, that you are able to retract your vote, when you see the outcome not going your way (Which would make the whole system pointless), you wouldn't know when to not vote. What I suspect will happen, is that probably over half the people that already vote (Which already isn't great due to antag drafting), will stop voting, and the votes will be swayed by a minority of the people that actually are possibly willing to play, and in the dead hours you'll get barely anyone voting.
-
You're missing the point here, I feel like. I've nothing to do for the next 2 hours, I want to play, but I want to play a chill morning round of RP, without having to bother with an antag blowing up random parts of the station. I vote for extended, secret passes, I cryo, and go off to play some other game or what not. After a few times like that, I get bwoinked and get a note/warning on my record. So I'm really not sure how it is not punishment.
-
And. . .how would that not fix it. .? If those people voted for extended, they'd still be forced to play, if it passed. I really don't see your point here.
-
If a person does a "meme" vote, and that gamemode doesn't win, then their vote is inconsequential, it's essentially somebody abstaining from a vote. And I really don't see anybody complaining about that. What people do have a problem with, are people voting for "ToWeR DeFeNsE", it actually passing, and everyone having to be stuck with the shitstorm that ensues, while the voters go off saying "Welp, not my problem!"
