There are? I didn't think there were? What're they called in-game?

Pierogi Any sort of dumpling which is not made of moss.

I'll put it simply, the role is just badly designed. It's a non-antag role, that encourages antagging. You are locked in a small box, with nothing to do, likely with an IC motivation to not be there. Well, you might want to escape! You can do that, right? Yes, you can. But you've next to zero options. If you steal the shuttle, you end up with limited fuel and two choices: You either dock with the Horizon and get immediately arrested by security and shipped back to the small cell with nothing to do, or you go to an asteroid or derelict, and play singleplayer mode. Neither of those two options are all that great, leading to the role essentially funneling players into that antag play style. And thus, I suggest the removal of this role. (Source: I played the role. bwoink.)

Although I've only heard and seen some stuff that left a bad taste in my mouth, I didn't really have anything to add to this, until now. I recently played a burglar in a round along with SadKermit. We were playing two Skrell, and were going to attempt to build a second AI core. We stumbled into some people in our way, and while we were obviously armed, we simply threatened them, and let them go, not harming anyone. Thirty-something minutes in, security was outside of the mechanist's workshop, and without us shooting at them, Bisenti started to break in through a wall, at which I shot one or two warning shots, which did not stop him. And so with pretty much no attempts to negotiate, or facilitate RP between security and the antags, the gimmick was killed 40 minutes into the game, ending with me, sitting for over an hour in the brig, (most of the time cuffed) with next to zero RP, except for a brief few minutes in the investigator's office, which completely ruined the round for me. And even when I was finally stuffed into a cell, the blast doors to communal were left closed, which left me asking security multiple times over the radio to allow me to go to cryo near the end of the round, which was ignored until transfer happened and the server restarted. Command is meant to facilitate roleplay on the station. I have seen the opposite. I must -1 this app.

Head of Security begone: Long live the Chief of Security.
DatSamTho replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Archive
Chief Security Officer sounds horrible. Chief of Security would be vastly better. -
While I agree that cults desperately needs a rework, I do not think that species specific religions are the way to go with this. For a lot of characters it simply. . . wouldn't make sense? Why would a Skrell worship Raskara? Or a Unathi the Lii'dra? I feel like most of these would end up being extremely underused. I think that more "generic" sets of abilities/objectives/beliefs would fit better, so the players could pick and choose what fits best.

Wait, someone is. . . purposefully griefing the manifest? That's genuinely just sad that someone has nothing better to do.

Put a filing cabinet in the HoS office. The inability to store faxes is annoying. I suggest replacing the plant with it.

Alberyk Deputy Loremaster Application
DatSamTho replied to Alberyk's topic in Developer Applications Archives
While I cannot fault your skills, I can your person. There has been at least one case of you playing favourites with, and protecting a bad actor Tajaran player you liked. At one point, after I DM'd the player about mine and their character interactions, you DM'd me telling me, bringing an issue between players up to a lore issue, completely dismissing my concerns about the player, and being uncomfortable with my interactions with them, due to me trying to "[...] trying to wiggle away from any possible consequences that your character's action might have despite the lore [...]" essentially putting the IC over the OOC, purely so you could (at least from my perspective) protect the other player. With this interaction with you in the past, I would not feel comfortable in you being at the position of deputy lore master. And thus, I must -1 -

imho it should be done in some different way. Half the fun of playing AI (At least for me, back when I did) was looking at the weird shit X departament was doing, and playing after the AI whitelist was implemented, I can say that I've not really seen any AI really "busting" an antag in the middle of something.

I really don't get this. If those roles aren't contested, the system simply doesn't work, since it needn't, and when it does, the same reasoning applies. Besides, who's to say surgeon or Cook won't be the next hot role in half a year?
-
Right now cameras are where the AI can see. So you'd nerf the AI quite a bit by removing a lot of the cameras. But imho removing most cameras aside from ones in public/sensitive areas, and making some new way for AI to look around, would be a good move.

[Accepted]Ramke - CCIA Application

Alright, I didn't actually know you were on trial, so sorry if this is a bit late. (Also sorry if this WASN'T you, and it'll be really awkward if it wasn't, but I'm fairly certain it was, lol) I played Xioshi, my HoS, in a round where the captain died, I relayed the information to Central, who sent an investigator over, who was almost IMMEDIATELY assassinated. When we got to the Odin, there was a full entourage of CCIA personel waiting for command. It was the BEST dressing down I have ever recieved, it was the best level of Central involvement (including some I didn't mention) I've ever seen on my time I've played on this server, no joke. +1 a hundred times over from me. -
Smh, Danse being anti democracy. . . But yeah, glad to hear it's being voted on. Even if I will still vote on it being the Aurora, unless there's some REALLY good alternatives.

skrell Equairio - Skrell Application
DatSamTho replied to Equairio's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
As we can see in this excellent application, the trend of nothing wacky happening in and around light's edge, has been present for decades. Shio is a great Roleplayer, and is always good fun to have around. Easy +1 from me. Phrog on. -
