BYOND Key: Alberyk Character Names: Aaron Hawkins, Luctus, Sslazhir Yinzr, Raniyah Al-Hamddani/Mrravahrhe Al'Nazkhan, Amessha Ghassawy, Zairjah, Hasan Al-Mushin, Sayyidah Al-Kateb, Tarasque of Uueoa-Esa, Hadassah and Ajradah Al-Yahwa. Species you are applying to play: Vaurca. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): RGB 71, 71, 21 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: The vaurca are really unique and developed species, both lore-wise and in the field of the mechanics. Due to their very alien nature they do create interesting opportunities and characters with different backgrounds and traits. Also, their history and society is really interesting, from the relation between bound and unbound, to their exodus from their home system. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Vaurca are augmented insect-like species from Sedantis. They are mainly divided in two different castes; the bound, which are lobotomized and programed to obey and work for their hive, and then the unbound, the sentient part of their species, raised in the vaurca virtual reality. They are also heavily augmented, having robotic organs that allow them to access their hivenet language and breathe without issues in the regular atmosphere of the station. Due to being a new species in the human space, after a long journey in their ark-ships,it is expected that one may face discrimination and several barriers, such as the recent demotion of all non-bound vaurca. Character Name: Ka’Viax’Amak K'lax Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Amak was born under the K'lax hive, selected to be a bound worker since birth. Like all other of his kind, it was lobotomized and had the necessary augmentations installed with the exact purpose of being a repairmen of the travelling ark-ship. Ka’Viax’Amak K'lax served as a repair technician aboard the Hive-ship Kloxa'xia, maintaining the systems, hulls and engine of the ship until it reached the skrellian system of Glorashi. Later, Ka’Viax’Amak K'lax was send, under the orders of lesser queens of Kloxa'xia, to Tau Ceti with the purpose of serving the Zo’Ra hive. The bound worker was employed by NanoTrasen as a maintenance technician, also by the will of the overlord hive. At the moment, Amak find itself in a strange place, away from the main hive, but still eager to follow the orders, with the characteristic vaurca loyalty, of his new human and vaurca masters. What do you like about this character? Amak is a bound drone, of the hive that could be described as the servant of the Zo’Ra, so it is expected of him to follow orders of nearly everyone, which I am sure that could create interesting roleplay, together with the traits of the vaurca species as whole. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I believe that my role playing abilities are not bad, and I do trust myself to create some interesting characters and situations as a roleplayer, and I did improve during all my time playing in the Aurora. The tags were one of the best synth related rp we ever had in this server, it is pretty much the sole reason I will take the anti-synth right side in the contest. Right now, there is little reason for a synth-revolution or any kind of group, something that the tags did allow to happen and was killed by new code.

[Accepted] Ryan Falco's head application.
Alberyk replied to Ryan Falcorino's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Ryan Falco is a regular player that I believe that can manage very well having a head of staff whitelist. Most of this characters are recognizable and his antag shenanigans are interesting and amusing to be part of. +1 -
Use the format, please.

Not exactly, so for as my test goes they have a different access the station, which they can't really interact with apc or doors by afar, which I want to keep as a feature, but they can open any door by walking onto them. Since, while they are a foreigner unity, they have protection from being affected by the AI/borg console, but has less access to the station as a whole. Maybe, but a regular roboticist can't open a syndicate cyborg panel like another borg, also you may need to mess around with its wires. They will use the regular syndicate lawset, and when they spawn there is a small text telling more about the role; No SAW. Custom sprites may probably work, but they are bound to the borg name.

One of my main projects, for now, as dev is adding syndicate cyborgs as a tool that can be brought by mercenaries teams, maybe traitors, as part of their tools. They are teleported using a small device that can be purchase in a uplink, crystal cost is not defined still, and then, it will selected a ghost among the dead which will take the control of the cyborg. So far, the syndicate cyborg is equiped with the following; 25000 powercell; Flash; Crowbar; Energy sword; Emag; Jetpack; A mounted smg: pretty much a regular syndicate smg, but, it will recharge its bullets slowly over time. Any toughts on the idea, any modules that could be added to the syndicate borg or changes as a whole?

[ACCEPTED] Cake's Server Mod Application
Alberyk replied to CakeIsOssim's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
Anyway, I think that cake would be a good mod, mostly due to the fact that he has a clear record and can understand the rules and the whole spirit of the server. -
Very well, after a discussion with the staff, I will lift this ban. However; any kind of the behavior that did result in your ban happens again, you may be punished in the same way, and without a chance for another appeal. Appeal accepted.

This allows the station to send a distress signal, as a replacement/other option to the emergency response team, calling for help. So, in theory, it would allow a random type of vessel, and their crew, to pick it up and try to approach the station with the probable intent of helping. This suggestion could bring more options to the table, rather than the regular ert trooper squad that will probably crush everything in their path, to any situation of distress that the crew may find themselves in. While I do not wish for this to fully replace the ert, they could be still called using fax/keycard system, since it is more fit for them to deal with medical and engineering situations. Maybe allow antags to disable any kind of contact with central command, such as keycards, faxes and emergency messages, probably by using a device or messing with telecoms, and then command staff would have to rely on the distress beacon to deal with the station’s problem. However, such will not mean a granted equipped squad of soldiers ready to wipe out of the antags. Some random options could range from Biesel patrols, trading vessel, raiders and etc. This could create more rp and interesting situations than having your regular NanoTrasen grunt ready to purge the foes of NanoTrasen, and besides, an opportunity to expand more of the lore that rarely appears on station. While this has little to no coding on my part, and I do not know if I am able to do so, it is an idea that I believe it is worthy to share here.

Player Complaint (Kinda) Bedshaped
Alberyk replied to coolbc2000's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Acting in a different manner that your character would do in certain situations, just because you know oocly that someone is an antag, is a form of metagaming. People should be able, within reasonable bounds, to fight back antags, because it does create conflict. I don't know what is so interesting, or fun if most of you believe it is the point of roleplaying, in allowing antags to do anything they wish.
