  1. Remove nightvision, give us smellOvision:TM: ... for simple mobs. And maybe machinery / turrets. I don't want to see people through walls lol. But yeah in full support of the topic. The nightvision currently is painful. Since balancing does not seem to be an issue at all anymore, let's do something fun
  2. Having a crematorium for any purposes apart from xenobiology is a massive stretch already. Just imagine having a "we gonna ash you before informing your family" clause in your contract. More of these only aid a terrible style of antaging, having the decency to space someone with enabled sensors or such is engaging, right click to delete from game engine should remain and admin specific action ^_^
  3. Fun not allowed. How often do we have to teach you old man? Also... This is Colfer. If you don't give him the whitelist strip your own as well. I have seen your body counts ?
  4. Yeah am aware but it's going to pop a million red flags seeing a vaurca with insulated gloves lmao. What I usually do is grab an entire Eva suit and put a nice cloak or such over it.
  5. Not a bad starter but you may want to speak this through with one of the species lore staff, they usually are up to date on the mechanics as well. The biggest oversight I found on my first read through is that you missed out on the fact that vaurca have three frequently played subspecies Ka, Za and Ta which all have different resistances and such. For mechanics like sulphur and iron you may wish to test them before publishing them. There is a lot of headcanon going on with the species and even mechanics described through lore may not be implemented or functional. My suggestion would be to buy a vaurca proto corpse from cargo. It's basicly the full thing without a player and helps a lot with medical experimentation If I get killed by Dex one less time this guide already was a success though and I thank you for writing it up! My vaurca usually have medical records to indicate the basic mechanics in hopes new people stumble over it and give it a read before I need treatment. Should add that you can quickly destroy a vaurca internal tank by spaming kois products on them while they are passed out.
  6. You could remove the tampering part to give antags a bit more reasoning to interface with Borgs since the AI core is restricted either way. It would account for engineers attempting to weld Borgs and such. I mean you can send a borg to robotics by claiming a wire is picking out somewhere if you feel funny but no other crew may touch it, feels kinda weird as someone who frequently recruits all kinds of people to help out Borgs. The third law was basicly a whitelist suicide since both sides could ahelp you whenever you interacted with either really. Claiming the AI role is dead is well... Oddly precise and a result of more than just laws forcing a specific and sami play style from everyone involved. I noticed myself that the only memorable AIs currently are the 1-2 that course issues and not the rest which is kinda sad. A bit more freedom on the lore part would help massively but that's not part of this discussions. Giving laws that allow interpretation on the players end to enable different ways to roleplay out situations, so that is already a major achievement(or return to quality) in my eyes. With how the laws are phrased in this thread it's more of an update than a rework that is left after the feedback. We'll see how it works out.
  7. Makes it better but I am still for a full revert, don't see a need for a new set when the old one already handled it better.
  8. Remember the RDs that were always traitor? It's the same with AI in this system yes. Should not be, but if you play AI on a traitor round your chance to get it is pretty much certain due to how few other antag ready players we usually got. Not judging on how the AIs performed as antags up to now but the potential for massive abuse is of course given. Currently heads of staff can only be turned into antags like vamps or such, the AI traitor idea is not really a solution to malf, better malf is the only solution to malf. Until the people willing to fix it have done so it should lay in rest imho ^_^ The system of "vote for it if you want it" was the best we had so far with the added bonus of keeping the people that provide only salt away from such a round ?
  9. I am once more asking for a full revert to the old lawset. The whitelist improved a lot, the lawset improved nothing. A whitelist forum section like command staff has would also be a neat addition to gather frequent feedback since this thread seemingly dieded. Without touching too many toes I would also like to see feedback from people who actually applied and played with the AI during the month. It's not exactly a lengthy or complicated process but having feedback from inactive people or those who have little to no interrest in the whitelist is kinda weird in my eyes. Not much else to say which I have not already brought up with staff and would prefer to keep away from the forum since I lack the friendly words required for most of it. Please provide feedback if you can, it's a topic that influences more than four people.
  10. Decided to add It's a great idea for roleplay purposes and people should never feel forced to do it on their own. Thanks for the suggestion! Going to wait for the admin decisions on the qualification stuff, ping me in the wiki channel or here when that is to be changed ?
  11. The council of ghosts found your gimmik lacking! Feels like 2450s all over again... Last for today: When science asks for materials so you send them the nuke
  12. Both are the peak of suffering as antag. You do not need gloves but in return you can never wear gloves. Sounds harmless enough until you realize that both have the same fingerprints as humans ? All for removing the idea of taj/nathi gloves. Any sane person would just poke their claws through the fingertips and not touch the lifewire with exposed skin.
  13. Job requirements will get a slight adjustment and the wiki pages will need some reworking, so in the future there may be one or two alt titles depending on where lore/admins want to go with it. May want to see how it plays out and make a suggestion about having an alt title if required and desired.
  14. The manual clear is removing the camera alltogether by deconstructing it. Very funny with the bomb range cause the deleted cameras sometimes stay with you for the entire round and your only way out is to reconstruct one with the same tag in the same area. Manual removal would be cool for engineers and antags alike. Clever idea!
  15. Thank you for clearing up without a doubt that the complaint had no basis to stand on. In my eyes this could all have been avoided with a little benefit of the doubt but it is what it is. All I can offer is that my DMs are still open for everyone, in my entire time in this community I have not blocked a single person and I had worse interactions than this complaint.
  16. As someone having to deal with the worst security position for far too long this has my full support. The detectives were used as investigator by a minority of players at best. Most of them either cryoed early when they did not get the antag slot desired, thought they were in any position to command officers around when no HoS was around, or performed absolutely disgusting frontlining with half the armory. I have not experienced more lrp behavior from any other role on the station, this being a problem with the role being appealing to new players which get the wrong idea of it and sadly experienced security players abusing the role in disgusting ways. I would love to see an investigation department, not a "I refuse to give the HoS the captains spare back when asked multiple times" department. The mapping is solid and functional, which is more important to me than the design choices since those are up for personal taste. To me this looks like the first passion project to improve the security department in a long while and I applaud you for trying to improve something.
  17. Tamir admitting to doing it. Tamir admitting to why he did not just say it during the round. So you make a player complaint about me, ignore my response and want to have it handled in DMs with Abo or ShesTrying. Works for me. Hi "others", my DMs are also open if you wish to discuss something or share your opinions. I still struggle to understand how we came to this complaint so if it was a group effort feel free to let me know.
  18. This is the IR in question. There is at no point a request or even the intend to get your consular punished for this. It is a general plea for improvement as to provide issues with festivities in the future. This is the message I send to you. Again. At no point was the aim of this IR to get you ICly or OOCly into trouble. The tone should make that more than clear. There is a difference between "He just wanted to drink" and "I'm so ready to get that Hadiist rafama IR'd," It's kinda fascinating to me that Tamir is the most chill person to file the IR here really. Sues character had all the more reason to do such as a defense against the consulars claims and to clear their name, the captain and HoS had a very good reason to file the IR over having an official spy on the crew. The fact that it is now Tamirs IR about giving the consulars a free day is probably the most harmless thing that could have come out of this and I don't quite understand why it was interpreted as threatening or harmful. I'd have removed it myself if you had told me that this thing was such a big deal for you. Instead we got this complaint with a clear plea for punishment. That pretty much lines up with how I understand the situation. We do not have a Gamemaster to decide what a character can see or not, nor is there a system in place for stuff like perception checks. People usually right click in this game to inspect a tile, this can happen for a ton of reasons and is not meta or abuse of mechanics. The example that I used was that you cannot emote being under the table and expect people who go into the bar 10 mins later to know that you emoted a sneaky. This is simply not how the game currently works. My suggestion was to make the bugs have a hide function to not let the sprite pop up as largely or appear in the inspection menu (right click or turf menu). Otherwise I could emote being too large to be grabbed with my G2 and ahelp anyone who attempts it because the mechanics do not care about my emote. The bug (listening device) was not there because something in the game broke or a ghost let people know via LooC where to look for it, it was exactly where it was because you put it there (knowingly or not of how easy it was to find). As it stands right now Abo and ShesTrying are going to handle this entire thing so feel free to forward any information you do not wish to share publicly with either of them. As of this post nobody has been ICly or OOCly punished or harmed. This complaint though is public, so I would prefer a focus on clearing the situation up with evidence. How people feel about it or what they spoke about with others matters little to the claim of the complaint itself. As a formal issue on my end though I would recommend wording complaints more towards resolving a situation than outright stating that the goal is to punish someone. Kinda left a bad taste to read that part.
  19. I am a bit baffled as to why you wish a fellow player to be OOCly punished for an absolutely harmless IC interaction. The IR system is there to generate roleplay and neither the bug nor the book are the reason / main point of the IR. The IR is an IC representation of why consulars should not be involved with celebrations if it causes conflict, at no point is it designed to or asking for punishment. It is simply a continuation. I had no clue that it was an OOC issue to you and as far as I am aware neither you nor your character have been punished for it so I am not sure where this reaction is comming from. They had a consular place bugs on station and asked central command for advice. That is not poor command play. I have not read the faxes but that is what I was told ICly and it makes sense to me that the person being investigated against does not get to participate in said investigation if the stakes are big enough (apearently the HoS did not want to be responsible for a political clusterfuck, which is understandable). The IR system is an extension of IC interaction. It was not used to get you or your character into any trouble. It was used to inform central that there was an issue to investigate (if they even want to). The process involves interviewing all parties and deciding from there on if any action follows. None of this has happened yet and is unlikely to happen since the IR boils down to "muh holidays". I have no way of knowing what you decided to keep canon with others. This is for CCIA to know and decide if they want to bin the IR because of this or not. Even after I informed you of the IR you told me that you did not much care for the entire thing. Not the focus of the IR. An IC response to your character replacing the manifests earlier. Tamir went to the captain and just said it was his. The same happened two more times with your character involved. See above. This has multiple simple reasons. During the round Tamir admitted that it was his. He did not admit to have placed it there to annoy your consular or get back at them for other manifest / earlier interaction. Saying a random crewmember must have put it there was a simple case of plausible deniability. The IR is meant to clear things up, not to cause further issues. From an IC perspective it would make little sense to waste company recourses for a full investigation into something that will be blamed on him either way. The IR however goes to central, not to the captain, if CCIA wants to punish him for that they can absolutely do so. Such is the risk in writing an IR. Lying in IRs or interviews to protect yourself is allowed, but will be punished if found out (IC issue). Lying in IRs to get others in trouble will get you OOCly in trouble. This entire thing was made in good faith and needed neither. Tamir would like to keep his job. I OOCly do not hold any ill will towards you. The entire round was pretty entertaining and well received, as such having it documented or investigated ICly was considered to be fun for all sides involved on my end. This is pretty much the only part of the entire thing that makes sense to me. I informed you via DMs about having written up an IR, I joked about it in the usual tone I have in DMs and on discord in general, I did not see any issues with the IR or the fact that I had written it up. At no point did you mention such and a simple DM could have cleared this up much faster than the complaint. I have no clue how we got from "feel there was a bit of bad faith" to "All in all, the only thing I want is for Cnaym to be punished,..." In my eyes the IR is the result of people roleplaying together and the wish to continue that. Otherwhise I would have ahelped or made a player complaint but for me this entire thing is IC as I have no outstanding issues with you.
  20. Reporting Personnel: Tamir Al-Shahrani Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Game ID: caT-dozT Personnel Involved: -Evelyn Morgan, Head of Security (Witness) -Yalena Batov, DPRA Consular (Offender) -Ana Roh'hi'tin, Security Officer (Witness) Secondary Witnesses: Time of Incident: Around midnight, the beginning of the day Real Time: Matches station time now it seems Location of Incident: Bar, Brig, Consular office Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: The incident took place on Victory Day which is a widely known holiday and very important for all free tajara. He was in a good mood and some party supplies were send to the station for the crew to enjoy. Among these were political manifests as well. This one took one for himself and left the rest in the bar for others to enjoy. He spend some more time in the bar earlier with a couple of scratchcards since he was lucky that day and won some credits. The consular was also there and he wished them a great Victory Day to which they told him in a rather ruder manner to leave them alone. He was a bit shocked by such unpatriotic behavior but did not give it much thought. Later a bug was found under the chair they sat on and everyone made a big secret out of the simple investigation and he was asked to search for more but he did not mind it much since the bar is a public area and anyone can record there in his opinion. What bothered him was that the consular seems to have replaced the manifests that were send to the crew together with other supplies with their own version of it. The originals were not found again and the replacements were brought to security by officer Ana Roh'hi'tin. He did not pay it much mind either since politicians are known for doing such things. Seeing how the originals went missing this one left his own copy at the consulars office so they could at least enjoy the scripture by our donators for themself. The consular made a big issue out of this to harm Ana Roh'hi'tin even though he said multiple times that it was his manifest and that it was simply missplaced. He did not want to cause a political issue by saying that he brought it to their office so he claimed to have lost it and some other crewmember must have then delivered it to the office of the consular. There is no big investigation needed for either of this but he would hope to see some instructions for consulars in the future as to not disturb ongoing celebrations with their politicly motivated goals or to denounce crew over perceived issues that were refuted by witnesses and forensic evidence. This day is obviously very important for all tajara and he would prefer it to not be overshadowed by such actions in the future, perharps giving the consulars a day off would be preferably as to allow them to enjoy it however and with whoever they wish to. Best regards to central from Tamir! Submitted Evidence: There were faxes but he did not get any details of what exactly was send or not. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: Evelyn Morgan, Head of Security Actions taken: Contact with Central Command Additional Notes:
  21. That lines up with my experiences recently. Laser rifles will just delete all sorts of antags really, it seems that even if the damage does not go a long way, the amount of las rifle hits you can output does -> Pain, Burn, Infection, Blood loss Another very odd behavior I experienced was getting hit by a plasma shotgun and starting to bleed. This was in a security voidsuit and bleed/ shrappnel was not what I expected at all. The armor rework seems to heavily favor security who are able to hold their ground far too long right now while antags can be focused down by a third of a las rifle mag in my experience. Security and HoS voidsuit have always been on the lowest end of things, but unathi and tajara now have access to gloves and boots which introduced a lot of new issues. Another massive issue is that while having the weakest voidsuits, the abillity to have multiple officers with full nightvision (Taj, Vaurca) has shifted the balance of EVA operations heavily to the side with more whitelisted players. Expedition and AI turrets as well are completly helpless against nightvision since you can lure them out and then safely destroy them from a darkened spot of the map without having to fear any response from them, this works best by just flipping the light on and off. G2s in full riot or balistic armor are honestly a sight to behold. Maybe introducing cooling requirements for those types of armor in combination with IPCs could balance the issue a bit.
  22. Or remove the lock completly. The gun is so useless that officers will pass it to cadets to go play lasertag with them. It's been the departments joke since it was implemented.
  23. Make ten or so with randomized words in it, other server got basicly the same for antag goals.
  24. It would not be much of a challenge to add a textfile with dozens of premade backrounds that get randomly picked for antags to give them a profile once they get roled. A simple: You may use this as inspiration or ignore it and we got an opt in feature for premade antag backstories. Could be super useful for people who role on accident or cannot come up with a gimmik that quickly for their antag round. Should not be too challenging to implement if such a thing is wanted.
  25. Add a bunch of directional energy shields to the armory, antag ships and cheaply in the uplink. Make them commonly used by everyone armed basicly The idea is to make single handed weaponry be an alternative, not a downgrade, while allowing for more tactical decisions and less lethality during combat. It would change the hallway firefights without having to nerf the guns themself. Combat would still be pretty lethal for the unprepared but mowing down an antag squad by clicking faster could become a thing of the past. Different shields could cover different amounts of the body with a chance to completly block hits -> TCFL tower shields with like 70-90% the normal versions with a 50%ish and maybe add weapon mounted shields that exclusively shield the head while deployed. As for the first half it would be probably be little effort to add seeing how shields exist already. Do the usual comment thingy with your opinions!
