  1. Lord knows we need more invested bug players. Colfer is a good egg OOCly and ICly. One of those players that are just overall uplifting to rounds. I think he would do great with the whitelist.
  2. It's almost like having giant mandibles on your exoskeleton head would do that. Another thread about balancing things that needed no balance ^_^ We could just delete the bite and increase brute armor. Would require even less skill, but combat would be easier for new players I guess. Overall against anything that would change clotting. Vaurca are not designed for extensive and armed combat, they are throwaway brick walls. Dropping the grab after a bite would fix the stunlock abuse while leaving the often called weakest race at least a little bit of offence.
  3. From a mechanical standpoint they also lost their lore background due to the changes. Survival on the polar capes: Subspecies did not take burn damage in a the kitchen freezer for example due to cold, was very weak to lasers as trade off. Full prosthetic body: Slightly higher brute modifier, repeated flashing overloaded their eyes and dropped them on the floor. Augments: In my opinion the biggest offender. Picking their two native implants and the (required) soul anchor costs you 9 loadout points. Add another three for a grasper and this becomes a joke. Limbs: Can no longer remove and exchange limbs at will, one of the most unique features they had. Sprint: Now the same as unathi, prior slightly slower with a little more stamina. Not a big one, but made sense for them being survivalists. Flavor stuff is mostly their loss of unique colors and their weight now being a normal unathi. Not the most important, but people enjoy to call each other thick or RP with it. Onto the good stuff then. You can be an ion proof aut'akh now, abusing the chemical systems until they get destroyed. Medical will no longer have to handle you like a difficult patient with mechanics that got rarely used. You can now space Aut'akh, which kills them quickly due to cold. You can finally be an undercover Aut'akh, recruiting folks that got crippled. As probably one of the three to four people who played Aut'akh, this hit hard, but I do agree that they needed some changes and fixes. The way this was handled was not better or worse than the usual changes imho, it would just be nice if folks could work together to find some solutions now instead of pointing fingers. Finally the balance side of things should be left to the coders and the lore side to the lore dev of the species. Maybe they plan to rewrite them a little to make this PR check out a little more
  4. I have planned to stay with the Aurora until spring / summer of next year. This is connected to my current work situation, which might force me to stay away during weeks from then on out. That would still allow me to spend my weekends on the Aurora and wiki, but depending on workload and my time to spare during said weekends I would put that as a milestone to reevaluate my stay. HTML was mandatory for me during school, which was over a decade ago though. I dabbled into the basics of CSS back then but that's about it. I'd go with a "experience but not relevant knowledge". Reading and reworking code is not a big issue for me, writing it from the ground takes a lot of effort though since I tend to start at the drawing board before writing anything on a computer. Usually I can find what I need and figure out how to change it to make it work the way I would like to.
  5. Those two points are the bane of the staff decision process. Someone sometime came to a "canon resolution" that everyone remembers, but nobody has any of the details or knows who decided what. I am fairly sure staff can remember my issue with a certain decision that nobody wanted to sign but everyone wanted enforced to a point where I just send the player into Skulls DMs. The other side of DMing staff is that people have their favorites. This is not a problem when you ask a simple question. When someone sends me a "you need to tell x to do things so and so because I do not agree with it" it becomes a big issue. When staff acts on that without investigating the situation it becomes a massive issue, to a point where people just give up. I would have no issue with an forum thread that just blocks the OPs name for the sake of the complaint, but otherwise keeps the staff or player complaint format the same. Seeing that things did get investigated and have a reasoning behind them is important.
  6. The issue I frequently run into with the younger internet generation is that many words are put in peoples mouths and little is actually asked. There are winners and losers in the interpretation game, I had talks with staff and players who also chose the way of not voicing their opinions because of the frequent backlash. That's an issue in my eyes but nothing I can fix so I try to keep it to topics I either care a lot about or not at all. Thank you for your feedback and support.
  7. Ckey/BYOND Username: Cnaym Position Being Applied For: Wiki Maintainer Past Experiences/Knowledge: 22/07/2019 Moderator 04/10/2019 Secondary Admin & CCIA Liaison 10/05/2020 Retired Examples of Past Work: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/Cnaym https://github.com/Cnaym Additional Comments: I am used to explaining things. I am used to being the first experimenting with and breaking new things. Keeping the wiki stuff up to date and easy to understand is imho the best way to reach and teach new players. Made the joke that I am a wiki main more than once during my staff time due to always having the links on hand and a fairly good memory of what is on there or not. Used to joke a lot about not being a lore person but somehow had to keep all that stuff in my head for the whitelists and the time as admin. Overall pretty decent with remembering things, explaining things and keeping records of them. Fairly used to discussions, not a politics person, seen as rude by some, seen as open and honest by others. Would like to help you with doing the spring clean on the wiki. If you want me on the team or have questions let me know.
  8. Have interacted a lot with them. Honestly interested in improving the community, unhealthy play time due to corona and never seen them having a bad day. Exactly what I would have loved to see when I was staff. They need people with the will to help and the resilience to keep it up. Good luck with your application, by far the easiest to pick candidate imho.
  9. I said you can spam the same, maybe not four at once, but we have had a lot of construct spam lately. That is why I took medical as example, they even get the blood bags and painkillers to ride along. Nerfing the diona, good. Making them equal or at least closely balanced to the other cultist, even better. Removing them is rather meh imho. I liked the idea that they could not do blood magic, maybe make it so they can only do it with someone elses blood -> Bloodbag or living body on rune.
  10. I don't think you need to have a specific whitelist to ruin a cult, just spam the same constructs from a tunnel as everyone else does. Play to win as antag and you will win, it's that easy. Seen it a lot with medical or even hydroponics. As long as breaking rules as antag is allowed people will just jump to the next mechanic to abuse.
  11. Some of the side discords like the sec or engi discord also have some character discussion and feedback zones
  12. I been thinking a lot about that law. It would make a lot of sense to have an AI not be able to harm any "intelligent" life. Might be visitors, or a janitor who lost their ID. 100% Agree with both changes, a good solution.
  13. M E L ? Good RP, good player, nice person. What shadow said. Could have applied a month or two ago Good luck with that trial!
  14. Filing this under resolved as it is now implemented. As a result of the skrell arc afaik, hence this is void. Or implemented. Maybe even both
  15. 1) Absolutely. If it was 1 minute before round end, let CCIA take it. If command was hiding from a merc squad in the bunker same applies. 1a) Personal conflict does not always have to be a big one. Sometimes CCIA stepping in to resolve racism and such generates the fun RP that it is intended to provide. They are not always there to fire folks. 1b) Yus, in that case it should even be filed by the command player in question. Overall agree with that one, although it means more work (for me).
  16. We are sadly removing both types of AI with this. Then one that doesn't give a fuck, shuts down antags and moves onto another server after being talked to and then one that spends their entire round interacting with crew, not following, hunting or shutting down antags. Much bigger fan of the whitelist solution, although that would be the one that requires work. Feels like a really big duct tape over a community issue instead of a mechanical one, we'll see what we need to remove next. I'd just like both sides of this to consider why exactly they want to keep it or see it gone. For me it's obvious that the provided RP far outweighs the balancing issues. I'm having a hard time trying to find the friendly words for "git gut". It's just another situation of "do we really need that for antags" VS "do we really need that for RP" From an admin perspective though, almost nobody ahelps an AI. Dead chat salts, AooC salts, ahelps are rare. We're rather strict with AI players, but if the community effort comes down to voting it out that's fine with me.
  17. Couple small things to throw in for whoever takes this. Humans can equip suit coolers, you could even do that to like uh... trick an AI into thinking it's an IPC or go into hot places like fires. It's not a common thing, but it's useful. The jump to them using a voice changer is okay imho, the original just had their head popped off according to reports on the radio. Suits of the same type all look the same, it could be another suits, was there a reason the AI jumped to this specific conclusion? The checkpoint was broken into, security gear was missing, the belt itself could have been stolen aswell. I ahelped this for valid hunting originally since it seemed like a really far jump to come to this conclusion. Alb was not part of the discussion since he was afk at the time and did not follow the ticket nor participate in how it was handled. Whoever handles this feel free to ping me when something specific is required.
  18. This would take up the slot for the weapon. Also bags require a drag and drop to be removed from hardsuits instead of a single click. So far I gathered that this is wanted, but only for none "combat suits". As such I would suggest the following list for an easy slide into the idea: EVA Suit Advanced EVA Suit RD Suit I figured the paramedic already get's a slot for either a stretcher or a first aid kit, which should be enough. The only situation the top suits would come in really handy is for expeditions. If that is desired let me know, so I can adjust the PR accordingly.
  19. "The US military does not condone the killing of unarmed combatants. But this isn't real, so why should you care?" Time for another playthrough :D

  20. I was thinking about making it only work with briefcases, would give them more use, would also make sense to have a locked one for like dangerous stuff transportation from expeditions or such. Issue being that briefcases are loadout items and really rare on station. We would probably see half of the crew spawn with them then.
  21. My main issue with this is that you can still carry a bag in your hands or just drag it along. If you really want to break it you can drag an entire locker full of guns around. It would do well with utility suits, but then again those already have it to a degree. EVA suits can fit a toolbox, medical suits can fit a first aid kit, both can fit things inside that should maybe not fit inside. The biggest meme in storage space being lunch boxes and boxes of glasses which are frequently abused to hell and back to circumvent a lot of inventory restrictions. You can even fit an hilarious amount of items into a book belt, or throw your security belt full of guns into your backpack for inventoryception. Main reason why I said this is only partly touching balance, since there currently is none ^^
  22. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/8792 With this you can add backpacks to hardsuits. They fit in the suit storage space. Simple yet fun, mainly to fight the hand swapping fiddling and give some roles a bit more space, will help with ninjas or expeditions, I suppose. Doing this feedback thread since it touches balancing a little.
  23. Sure thing. I play Bob Mellow, let me tackle the two main points since memory is whack and I was rather sleepy logs should be more detailed than my testemony. Glad you enjoyed it. You seemed to have had a rough round and were doing the screaming at crew as armed warden, quick chuckle is usually enough for me to drop the stress of a hard round ICly had no clue of why Drey was arrested, they ran out, screamed for help, some officers tried to arrest them, you decided to shoot your taser into a group of people, hence the disarm. It was not to help a criminal but rather to stop innocent folks from getting shot. I did not run into a random direction, but toward the security area of the Odin to hand in the pistol. What came running was a rather pissed mobility frame, which I had no way of dodging, starting to attack me with the baton wordlessly. RNGesus was on my side, the disarm worked, I picked it up, put it away, dropped on the floor screaming. Random tajara comes running along and picks me up, drags me away. Quick thinking under enough pain to floor me, lack of cameras, scale of already done crime + a warden that ICly does not know Mellow and might not even have a name + the recent tajara events -> Mellow is fucked and hopes the tajara has a plan because his was to hand in the gun and explain what happened and pay the fine. Fired two warning shots into random direction, put's gun away, get trapped in a dead end, round ends. Situation was rather simple and should have been handled in the ticket the following round. Shadow decided to send you to the forums instead, hope I was able to clear up the events a little. Did not hear one of those, the entire interaction was wordlessly from my side except a "Surrender" or "Give up" or something at the end when we got stuck. Sorry if the combination of lacking RP and RNGesus botched your round end, sometimes things just escalate I suppose.
  24. Am all for it. Might switch the perception and play of detectives to someone doing the talking instead of the shooting. Even during the revolver times I always wondered why the detective still grabs the shotgun or laser rifle. Imho a mentality issue that the removal would at least try to correct. Don't get me wrong, they can still grab a rifle, but on code green they cannot suicide bum rush the antags as badly anymore. Stun revolver makes thematic sense and is a neat tool, would love to see it replacing the lethals.
  25. Coding 101 sounds like a fun idea. I'd like to join and document it, so we got a thing for the forums to post later. Have not coded for 10-12 years now and setting up github took me longer than I'm willing to admit, so might learn something as well
