  1. The cost of IPC frames as well as positronic brains has been detailed on the wiki: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=IPC#Physiology For ease of reference, the numbers are as follows:
  2. Hello, thank you for applying. Can you expand on the backstory? As is, it's bare bones and the application calls for a two paragraph minimum. Moreover I have a few questions pertaining to the backstory: What chassis is he? Who manufactured him, and why? How did they acquire the parts if he wasn't manufactured by a company? What were these dubious groups? Why were they dubious? Is he free now? Owned? Moreover, can you expand on this question here?
  3. My biggest issue with this comes down to what would transpire on low-pop hours. I have gone through too many rounds where the station is assaulted by a massive migration or hivebots and there is no command or a warden. Access to the spare in these situations is crucial. Worse yet when these are extended rounds.

  5. This was half my mistake for not reading Stryker's response before addressing someone else entirely. Stryker isn't saying that we will be changing or giving rights to Solarian IPCs, but rather the change in dates will mean that we have an opportunity to detail differing sentiment or views on IPCs in the time they have been around. Conceptually, IPCs are and forever will be the underdogs of our setting. They benefit by this and we do not intend to do away with it.
  6. This isn't to justify further civil rights. This is to better explain how IPCs have the present freedoms they have.
  7. We're looking to push back the positronic brain invention date and by extension, IPC chassis'. This will allow for a more realistic progression of the lore, The Trinary Perfection, and the legal footing IPCs have acquired in places such as Tau Ceti. Moreover, this opens up the possibility for more diverse character creation, and resolves a few issues pertaining to shells having only been around for 5 years. This issue is largely seen when both a prototype and advanced shell are either the same age, or a few years apart. The changes won't force you to change your character's manufacturing date, but the option will be there. The current positronic brain invention date is 2437. Please explain your reason why.

  9. I don't feel as though relying on a pacifist mentality as well as mods/administrators is enough in this case. I'd prefer not adding to the mod/administrator workload. Moreover the pacifist mentality doesn't necessarily resolve issues of self-preservation. One example being an antagonist has an ion rifle but the IPC approaches to attempt to disarm them and does so successfully. Although some players do see success with this, it throws a wrench in the antagonist being able to try and carry a narrative if they are immediately disarmed by someone using the system to their advantage.
  10. Hello, thank you for applying! My main concern with the application proposed is the removal of self preservation. It's removal would essentially mean the possibility of having characters on station who do not have self preservation and thus could get away with power-gaming or valid hunting behavior. I am uncertain how this could be resolved however, since the following lore largely hinges on the removal of self preservation. Unless it meant largely being an organic run sect that focused on offering comfort to the down-trodden or relieving synthetic distress?
  11. Thank you for the clarification. Your application demonstrates an understanding of IPCs. Accepted!
  12. Sorry for the delay, my deputies and I were mulling over your application. It's a decent application but we've decided to accept it on the basis of your willingness to work with the team as well as the community at large in making your backstory. One note I might make is that it may be more justifiable that your character caused an accident that lead to the death or severe injury of a person. However, if you decide to go with this it may make your situation worse if caught. Nonetheless, accepted!
  13. Thank you for expanding upon the story. Before I move forward, I wanted to ask about this portion here. If the unit could run away with the directives in place, why was their removal important? What were the directives that required removal?
  14. Had you shift-clicked him or even paused to roleplay you could have avoided this. This is not a valid excuse. If you cannot die then you cannot claim that they were a threat to your safety. Especially when killing two characters, vastly weaker than yourself, without an inkling of dialogue.
  15. I will also add this short dialogue near the end of the round (shuttle was about to arrive) that confirms their intent to murder for murder-sake. I do not have a screenshot, however once resurrecting a skeleton to do their bidding: [F] Pained Fetch asks, "What is thy bidding?" [F] Unknown says, "Let's go kill the invaders, and any more people at red dock."
  16. I cryoed about one four and forty minutes into the round for external reasons but decided to aimlessly ghost a few people. During which, I witnessed blatant ganking from Lordnesh. Although I do not have visual screenshots from the encounter, I have a few log screenshots. I will detail the two encounters below. After Lordnesh armed himself with (I believe) both a laser rifle and ion rifle from the Armory he was confronted by Kazika Leazi, armed with a diamond pickaxe. Although the unathi is armed and standing outside the armory doors, there could have been a dialogue here, but there wasn't. Instead, Lordnesh wordlessly fired upon Leazi upon exiting and proceeded with the following violence. I will concede this isn’t as bad as the other scenarios but an indication of repeated disregard to roleplay as an antagonist. Screenshot 1: The next scenario was once Lordnesh made his way to medical. During which, he passed Dalask Caladius in the hallway. Once more Lordnesh, without roleplay, casted the bleeding spell against Caladius, who was unarmed (or at least without his weapon drawn) and merely walking by. Afterwards, Lordnesh walked into medical and, immediately shot a rifle blast at the Medical Resident Otter Stockton with again, no roleplay. It was only through sheer luck that the blast hit a wall, the Medical Resident begged and the Kataphracts arrived that they were spared. Screenshot 2: Personally I do not agree with murdering non-Security and Non-Kataphract crew who are otherwise unable to truly defend themselves. Without, I should add, a word of dialogue to either prompt roleplay or escape. It should be noted from the size of the logs, both against Leazi and Caladius (in the original post) that Lordnesh didn’t give the two a chance to survive, striking at them long after they were on the ground.
  17. Thank you for reapplying. Can you detail what this would mean for Bob? Or how instances with problematic crew might play out?
  18. Sorry for the delay. If you'd like I can add another 24 hours to my usual 72 hour limit to applications. Of course, you can change as much as you'd like.
  19. If say you were to switch out the race of the character in question, the story largely remains the same (other than the remark about ownership at the end). This, to me, means that the backstory doesn't quite demonstrate an understanding of applying the IPC lore to character creation.' What do you mean by acting strangely?
  20. The application is rather bare-bones and although the formatting is a bit odd, it still calls for a two paragraph minimum. Consider telling a story with your backstory. As it stands, there's very little offered that differs HHPU conceptually from a human or stationbound. Why would Hephaestus contract out a unit to Nanotrasen during a phoron crisis knowing that the phoron acquired will ultimately go to Nanotrasen? Moreover can you expand upon this question here?

  22. To add to this with my own experiences, I can confirm that Luke Conan, merc/raider name Luke Sun, does not roleplay and outright murders players without an inkling of dialogue. It has gotten to the point that if the server votes secret and I see him on the security manifest, I do not join. On the round b8W-cce8, RealSync was playing the mercenary Luke Sun and although some of the blame can be placed on the team of mercs for their behavior, I believe a lot of the fault for what I'm going to detail is on Luke Sun. I believe the round went on for about an hour until we, as Security, were alerted to a matter where the vault had been emptied of all it's contents. So we lightly armed up and took to walking the station in hopes of finding the missing items. While going from place to place, we eventually hear that there are visitors on the surface. Myself, a diona warden and another officer make our way to the merchant dock from the garden only to happen upon the group. They have Luukanen as a hostage and take aim at us and I try to start a dialogue in order to get Luukanen back. They are however speaking Sol Common, something my character Z.I.Brandon doesn't have. A possibly neat gimmick but we try to run with it. At least we could have had, (and I could be wrong here but) Luke Sun not immediately fired upon our entire team, breaking off a nymph from the Diona and killing one of the officers. We flee. I am damaged, riddled with shrapnel and I retreat to Robotics. While being tended to the mercenaries arrive again and I am taken hostage. Again with no dialogue uttered to my character, I am stripped of all my items, and down to my underwear by Luke Sun. I ask on occasion, seeing the mercenaries use Tau Ceti Basic if they understand me and I am eventually given my first word of dialogue from Luke: "Shut up". I am then dragged around with the mercenaries for about 30 minutes and periodically being smashed in the chest with a rifle for no reason. I was not comfortable with the fact I am being paraded in my underwear before I eventually just ask them in looc to kill me, as I am sick of staring at a screen with no roleplay. One of the mercenaries decides to then release me and I go to cryogenic storage, sick of the round type and Luke's antics. I should also mention that not a single demand was ever given to security or the station. I do not believe their style of play is appropriate for the server. If screenshots are required, I regrettably have nothing more than this, which I took in the hope of helping report a vision cone bug. The square is where I was standing.
  23. Personally I think the Hooliganism Vandalism charge suffices. If you're making an excessive mess, only then should security be called. Otherwise we're going to likely have trigger happy power tripping officers arresting anyone over a dropped cigarette.
  24. If you want to stick to the idea, I recommend considering what might have transpired in between their manufacturing and employment with the Aurora and how that shaped their identity moving forward. Whether they are an old positronic recently wiped, an IPC that traded multiple hands, so on and so forth. However if you are unable to expand on the backstory, I will have to deny you for now. The application's backstory is too bare-bones and on the surface, differs very little from a stationbound conceptually. I also recommend avoiding focusing on mechanical differences for the "Identify what makes role-playing this species different from role-playing a Human" question. You're welcome to reapply in 3 days.
