Icedcabbage's IPC Application
niennab replied to icedcabbage's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for applying! The only point of concern I have is this remark here: It isn't wrong but it could possible ride the line of self preservation. However I think an easy fix conceptually is to make a point or reason that the gun was pointed low enough that August didn't think the shot would hit his positronic brain. Or, perhaps either by a miscalculation or a surprise uncalculated change, August was shot. If that's all cool I can move forward with processing the application. -
The backstory is a bit too bare bones, can you expand upon it as well as the question?: A few thoughts I have as well is why did Zeng-hu Pharmaceuticals have an older mobility model in their possession and why did they opt to sell it to a corporation? What was Qigong doing while with Zeng-hu and what are their opinions as a result of their use or storage and reselling.

The application is very bare bones and calls for a two paragraph minimum. Moreover although I am open to allowing those new to the server to apply for applications early on, their application will be judged more harshly. Can you expand of the backstory? Moreover can you expand on this section here?

My fear is that as is, the lore provided is a bit bare bones would require a lot on the part of the lore maintainers involved to fluff the canonization up. Unless, in it's current form, we lumped it in as a branch to an existing organization such as the Trinary Perfection. Would you be able to make a draft that's more wiki suitable as well?

When talking to artists it's good practice to first ask if you can offer criticism before doing so. Please do so in the future. Everyone's favorite Brett Feufer

Haydizzle doing our job faster than us. I was going to ask the same, if not similar questions however they've already been addressed! A simple backstory but I appreciate the expanded details in regards to it's make, manufacturing and purpose. As such, I am confident the application demonstrates an understanding of IPCs. Accepted.

I believe the lore canonization applications are more meant for broader picture ideas. In that instead of proposing a character (or a series of characters) for approval, you would detail the entire lore for a new thing or place. In the case of this, it may be better to present your idea with the entire history and details for vatgrown clones. How they came to be, what it means for them in terms of their existence and legality. On the surface my main concern is that conceptually it may hold a lot of or too many core concepts that synthetics on the server possess, and that overlap could mean redunancy in the lore. However human lore is not my field. Vatgrown enmasse humans are however an interesting idea.

My only concern, and I only ran into it once, was a person who used their title as a Biomechanical Engineer title to say that "I don't repair IPCs" which, considering humans get an entire medical department and IPCs get two people, sometimes not staffed, this can be incredibly detrimental and in my opinion a big no-no. The person eventually repaired the player with push, however other than that, I understand the purpose of the titles. They aren't there to offer what someone cannot do, but rather what someone specializes in.

This sounds like a suggestion that would mean they're used even less. Requiring a key would mean that the barricades would become 100% a Warden thing where as presently they're mostly a warden thing until removed from the armory where afterwards, anyone officers (maybe all of security?) can place them as necessary.

My point isn't so much the reasoning, because the drama itself was fun and spurned roleplay, but the method in which your liaison tried to use authority that they didn't have. As on the surface, it was interpreted as a Liaison threatening to file an incident report because two synthetic visitors wouldn't apologize for something that didn't pertain to the liaison in question.

Due to the inactivity on the application I am going to close it for now however I encourage you to reapply. If you reapply with the same character, please address the questions above. -
I would be a bit careful of how you enact your authority of those on station as a Nanotrasen liaison. As a liaison, you aren't command and you can't, or at least shouldn't try to ask the commander to order two synthetic visitors of another corporation to your office. This was all over, I should add, a vague remark made towards liaisons in general. Calling in Umbra given their ownership status, I understand, This isn't a -1 however but rather just a cautionary remark. Drama can be fun, but it's important to know how far your authority stretches. Nonetheless, it was a fun added spice to the round and we were able to rope in a few people into the matter as a result.

Fantastic, thank you. Your application demonstrates an understanding of IPCs as well as an ability to interpret the lore. Accepted! -

Thank you for applying! I only have one question, how does XI interpret or "feel" about having changed hands over the years? Has it shaped their outlook in anyway? -
I think this is a silly thing to police and in it's current state can be easily addressed with an ahelp. Sometimes it can be a nice break to just sort've joke about something between friends in LOOC and I have scarcely seen it used poorly. I can agree with ghosts not having looc however. My only fear would be the lack of being able to quickly help someone with a mechanic issue. The only times I have had to threaten an ahelp or ahelp over looc content were ghosts saying downright disrespectful or sexually charged comments to players in looc. Granted, these were obvious ahelpable situations. If someone is talking too much in looc just mute looc.

An obvious +one bazillion. You contribute and have contributed so much to the server in terms of sprites that it's more a surprise that you aren't already a developer. My only question to you would be if you feel you can handle both acting as the lore master in addition to your developer responsibilities? My only fear is that by being made an official developer, you'll have more put on you over an unofficial developer.

Murdoch's IPC app - Beep boop
niennab replied to CatsinHD's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hello! Thank you for applying. Can you expand on this portion further? I would advise rewording this, particular in the use of the word 'traitor'. Antag rounds are not canon and as such, one can likely assume that day to day, grand theft, murder and violence is generally on a much smaller scale. Can you expand on these details here? How did Mac die? Why were they targetted? How did Gyver manage to both survive and diplomatically resolve the situation? Did Gyver sustain damages? If so, how does it affect them on station? The backstory itself is all very withdrawn, if that makes sense. What was the working relation between Mac and Gyver? His partner was ultimately killed and and a byproduct of such is his lack of ability to form relations. How will this be shown? Was his partner a large part of his formative years or just a side kick? Bare in mind that for a whitelist application, this doesn't particularly fly. The purpose of the whitelist is to demonstrate that you understand the lore and are able to apply it to a character. As such, characters often need to be expanded upon to further demonstrate ones comprehension of the lore.
