  1. Keep in mind that IPCs themselves aren't inherently flawless. One could argue their inability to truly pass off as human is one such example. Or, errors in production. Nonetheless, can you expand upon what makes a human different from an IPC? I use this portion to glean that the player has not only read the wiki, but are able to interpret it so to not cause any issues server side. Also, could you expand upon the story?

  3. Thank you for clarifying that for me. Nonetheless. a nicely detailed backstory and, having clarified a few things for you as you made you app, this gave me confidence as to your dedication in understanding IPCs. Accepted!
  4. I have a portable tablet now so I've been doing some sketching on the go. IRU-Sentiment
  5. As another minor correct, the right term is memory wiped over mind wiped but again, another tiny thing. I should have noticed this before but I wanted to ask if you could expand upon this section: What do you mean by this?
  6. Interesting read! I only have a few questions. Was he owned by the restaurant at this point? I may fit better if the restaurant itself purchased the chassis over Butcher themselves. Given the violent nature of the attack, it was more likely that they would have been completely memory wiped although they'd have retained their databases on the culinary arts and butchery (or had been added by Nanotrasen). I think both of these come down to phrasing issues over concept issues however.
  7. The backstory is fairly simple but I appreciated the creative delivery. Accepted!
  8. In a round of auto traitor, Bear, as his Research Director, put together an interesting RP where his Director and my Forensic Technician analysed a recovered emagging device. We analysed the device in the anomaly scanner before deconstructing it, musing on it's use, dangers, and manufacture. It was pleasant RP and something I would have never considered doing myself. Usually, traitor items often end up stuffed into the evidence lockers after all. I think facilitating RP such as this should be an important goal for command members (and to a lesser extent although important all the same, non-command crew). An easy +1.
  9. And the role? What job will they be going into? Assistant?
  10. Kyres has, from my perspective, a level head and a wealth of knowledge and experience on the server. I think they would make an incredible Interim Deputy Loremaster. They easily get an eager +1 from me. I was going to ask you what bloat was to you, but you've already answered it!
  11. Which chassis is OP-217 and what role do you intend to have them go into, come playing them?
  12. Perfect! So long as you don't pick the prefix HSU, then I have no issue moving forward with your application. An interesting story, well-written and a pleasant read. Accepted.
  13. I'll get to this later today! However, how attached are you to the name prefix? You may be mistaken as being one of the new ISU units, which has me a bit on the fence. I would suggest either the removal of the prefix or perhaps the change to HS-Europus, HSA-Europus (Hephaestus Service Assistant), or HAP-Europus.
  14. The character back story is a bit too simple and doesn't address certain story beats as to how the IPC was originally manufactured, it's purpose and what caused it to become effectively discarded or cast aside, etc etc. I typically look for more information from the OOC answers as well in order to glean that the player exhibits an understanding of the lore as well as the fundamental differences between IPCs and humans. Denied for now but feel free to apply in a week!
  15. Application Withdrawn. Feel free to reapply whenever you feel the desire.
  16. The only present issue I see is that the IPC wouldn't necessarily have 'attended' courses but instead the information would have been added to their databases, effectively certifying them in their field. Keep in mind this is a major difference in what it means to be human over synthetic . Where it takes years for a human to learn something, it may take only a moment for synthetic. Although it reasonably could have taken a long time to save up the credits to afford these databases. Schmuck Lord is also right about the relationship between the owner and IPC. It is worth exploring that more. Our of curiosity, what frame is Cerebral-psy?

  18. What I've done is filled a glass with 5 units but it's true in that it's a bit confusing if a player asks for a shot and I hand them the sprite of a giant, full glass of their order but there's only 5 units within. What if we could vend shot glasses (5u or less) that had very basic colour variants that apply to the drink recipes? That way we just need one glass sprite that's recoloured.
  19. Byond key: niennab Discord key: Lauren#3847 Character Name: IRU-Sentiment Item name: Bouquet of Chrysanthemums (Alternative title: Bouquet of Flowers) Item function(s): Code wise, the bouquet will function as a donut box. Item description: A bouquet of white artificial chrysanthemum flowers wrapped in a sheet of newsprint. Item appearance: See sprites attached below. Item name: Artificial Chrysanthemum Item function(s): Code wise, the Chrysanthemum flowers will function as a badge. Item description: An artificial white chrysanthemum flower. Item appearance: See sprites attached below. Why is your character bringing this item to work? IRU-Sentiment, a Forensic Technician aboard the Aurora NSS, is often within their lab or following the trails of suspicious persons, leading to a more reserved, quiet and background existence from the hustle and bustle of the station. Since reactivation, IRU-Sentiment has come to learn that death, to organics, is a harrowing and often unpleasant topic. However hardly able to process the concept herself, she has gleaned that by offering flowers to the deceased crew members, she is able to offer them one last means of remembrance while making a quiet mark as to her own existence. How did your character obtain this item (1 paragraph or more please): Having taken a fascination with flowers shortly after her reactivation, the curve of the petals reminding her of the way an explosion radiates outwards, IRU-Sentiment purchased a small collection of artificial chrysanthemums on the Odin, wrapping them in a discarded sheet of newsprint found aboard. Because, I wager, death is likely less common than our non-extended rounds would lead us to believe, I imagine that at least canonically, it is rare that IRU-Sentiment engages in autopsies, therefore the need to constantly repurchase the flowers is highly unlikely. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell? (2 paragraphs here please): For every body that comes through IRU-Sentiment's autopsy lab, she marks their passing and subsequent completion of her work with a flower, pinned to their breast pocket, just above their heart. The artificial flowers, synthetic and akin to herself, are otherwise meaningless and detached from organic existence. Where a human body will wither and decay, her chassis, as well as the flowers she pins to the crew member, will not. At least not at the same rate. In some ways it is a quiet mark of her presence, existing in the shadow of her fellow crew. However, it is also an acknowledgement and remembrance for the life that was lost as well as an offering of understanding and in someways, a metaphorical send off for the crew member in question. Although in part OOC information, in Korea (as well as I believe in China and Japan), white chrysanthemums are symbolic of a grief and lamentation, and are often used at funerals. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? I don't know if anyone does this, but if I die in round, I will often follow my body around, curious to see as to what will happen to it, where it will go, and how any station characters might react to my demise. It is my hope that in acquiring these custom sprites, I can offer the deceased player a parting acknowledgment. Also, it's my hope that in rare circumstances I will offer them to player characters as a quiet considerations of kinship to those Sentiment meets, gruesome in concept as they may be. However they will be more often reserved for the dead. In rounds where I have invited characters to the Forensic Technician lab or sat in the lobby chatting, I wager this could additionally serve as a conversation piece. Sprites: Additional Comments: Sprites were made by the brilliant and skilled @wowzewow. As a side note, although I paid for the sprite work, I am fine sharing the work in part. All I would ask is that the flower (first sprite) is changed in it's entirety and that the rest is recoloured. Files: laurenflowers.dmi
  20. Your answers as well as backstory provide a well rounded understanding of IPCs. Accepted!
  21. Thank you, and likely! The player of Pennent wants stationbound art too haha. Some more sketching with IRU-Sentiment.
  22. We haven't rped in depth but I have seen great communication from Brett Fuefer in Security. It's more often than not, it seems your Security Officer is patrolling, killing carps and keeping periodic updates. I am eager to see how you do with a trial. +1
  23. I am a bit on the fence about this only because in a recent changeling round and vampire round, both antags were able to successfully dive into maintenance and escape. Moreover in both cases, 2-4 Officers were on their tail. It's very hard to chase someone in maintenance. But...I'm also a synth main. I believe it was mentioned earlier, but what about Security only having access to maintenance on blue and red? This should eliminate maintenance sweeps, since if Security is in the tunnels during a code red, they're likely not focusing on the masks and knives scattered about. Additionally, it's often that on rounds I play, there's 1 or 2 Engineers but 6 Security characters. I wager it will be hell for engineering to juggle their job, repairs and being screamed at by Security to open doors.
  24. I wanted to bump this to see if anything is currently in the works!
