What do you mean by this? Does STAR V 267 have any relation to STAR V 266? Additionally, can you expand on the backstory further? It should be noted as well that Nanotrasen does not inherently manufacture nor develop positronic brains or IPC chassis'.

Would having it be required to be made by a biochemist/pharmacist help the issue? It may still happen with that route but I suppose the chances of misuse are greatly reduced.

Since it's been 72 hours since posting I am going to close the application. You are welcome to post another app at any point. Please however address the issues above in doing so.

[Accepted] Peppermint's IPC Application
niennab replied to Peppermint's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for addressing Stryker's questions. The larger concern was the mention of the removal of an emotion synthesizer despite later feeling resentment. However if instead a cheaper model was installed, it makes sense. Nonetheless, your application provides an understanding of IPCs in addition to detailing an interesting story. Presently, we do not have a way to have shells spawn in with differing prosthetic limbs (I wish they could). However you may then have to rely on your FT to carry a lot of the subtle details. Nonetheless, accepted. -
Yesss! I wasn't aware we had something similar (other than the lethal bit). My hope was for a paralyzing effect (other than the character's mouth and ears).

I wanted to put forward the idea of Soporific being more akin to a full body numbness, allowing characters that either need to be sedated or held still through medical means the ability to still role-play. Or, I want to suggest that the time Soporific lasts in the body is greatly reduced. Presently, as it stands, Soporific has a high chance of ultimately ruining an antags gimmick or (more over) a player's round because it ultimately forces them into a state of nothingness. As an example, on a round of Rev/Loyalist, I brought the Head Loyalist to medical, whom was bleeding out and near dying. At this point, they were effectively unable to fight however a player decided that they would force feed them soporific, effectively removing the player from the round. What followed was the Head Loyalist essentially being stuck asleep for quite possibly close to 10 minutes before a shoot out occurred, and the Head Loyalist, without the ability to even run or talk, was killed in the crossfire. Although the solution won't solve the issue of being able to flee, it does allow the player to do more than watch a flickering black screen. Ahelping aside, I think this would reduce the amount of times this may happen. I will admit even early on in my time on the server I made the same mistake of administering soporific to a vampire (whom was already cuffed and stuck in a bed) at Security's request.

[Accepted]Caelphon's Diona Lore Deputy Application
niennab replied to Caelphon's topic in Developer Applications Archives
You're a great role-player and although we haven't had too many interactions, I've never seen you behave poorly. Your application has an easy +1 from me. edit: Since posting this comment and engaging in a few further rounds with you, I am uncertain as to whether I can offer a +1. You gave soporific to the Head Loyalist who was already bleeding to death and at your mercy, prompting him to eventually die without roleplay. You additionally treated my AI with unwarranted cruelty when I was learning the role. There are people behind the characters. In regards to the content of your application, I have a few questions: I believe conflicting relationships between species is great however there needs be a delicate give and take between each side so to not encourage a generic "xenoman bad" type of response in day to day play in game. This is something the team has been addressing in a few areas so far. How do you wager you will balance this in your ideas for Diona lore? Although the Deputy has the benefit of laying low in times of conflict, there is a chance you will be present or called upon for disputes regarding the lore. I am certain you can address the issue, however, what will you do so to ensure burn out doesn't occur? Nonetheless, good luck! -
Hello, From a lore and legal standpoint, we do not allow PAI, Stationbound or AI to be moved into IPC chassis', Although I don't believe this is detailed on the wiki so it is an understandable mistake. As it stands as well, the application can be greatly expanded upon. The question, as an example: Is a good place to prove that you have not only read the wiki, but are able to conceptualize it in your own words. Due to the application being relatively newly posted, I personally recommend editing or reposting the entire top post with the rewrite. Edit: As a side note, feel free to read archived IPC whitelist applications,

I am fine with the idea of keeping virology but removing the events so to allow the space and concept stay but be adapted into something else. The space is super cool after all. Perhaps allowing for the development or supplements or enhancement drugs in the Virology lab? Such as allowing someone to, for a period of time, handle pressure in space better in an emergency or something that strengthens bones in the event of a miner falling.

[Accepted] Ozob's IPC Application

Sounds good. Keep in mind that once (if) the change to Necropolis IPC's rolls out, you could have your character acquired at that point. Nonetheless. Thank you for answering our questions. Your application demonstrates an understanding of IPCs and as such, accepted. -
[Accepted] Ozob's IPC Application

Sorry for the delay in addressing your application. I have only a few questions/remarks before moving forward. Is Marnik owned by Nanotrasen or Necropolis? We should have a change for this in the future however the lore team is still working on allowing IPC contractors from Necropolic. As it stands however, you cannot spawn in as them. If he is owned by Nanotrasen, what was the reason for his sale? Bear in mind that an IPC doesn't have entire bodily autonomy as an organic or a free IPC might. Therefore, although scars are understandable to ones development, it is more than likely that a company will attempt to address damage to the IPC. However, you are free to have nicks or perhaps slight indications of the old damage (not fully repaired aesthetically) in the form of scars. As an example, the shrapnel would have likely been addressed but perhaps the metal on his chest, although painted over, has an almost bubbling effect where the hand touched him. -
I think changing the name to something more science fiction in nature will assist with a lot of the memes that arise from Wizard. I believe Polaris had a different name that was more desirable. Techno-something? I also want to propose considering Cnaym's suggested changes to wizard spells as well as addressing the wand of change, allowing Science to manufacture a cure in some way or making the spell itself temporary. I often find wizard to just be 'silly extended' more often than not so I wouldn't mind seeing some form of a change.

[Accepted] Hepatica's IPC whitelist app
niennab replied to Hepatica's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for addressing the questions provided above. A more resolution to the issue of sales could be if the workplace accident was caused by Brick, and as such the company wanted to do away with the problem unit, fearing an additional issue or a worse PR situation. You are free to decide how bad the incident was however, if you choose to run with that. Nevertheless, your application demonstrates an understanding of IPCs and it's clear you're a trusted person in the community. Accepted. -
This is rudimentary since I don't have a screenshot for the current Antag Uplink but I wanted to propose a change to the way we display exploitable information. I don't antag often but when I have, I found that I often had to dig through the list of player names due to so many of them being empty. However, if we were to change the way they were displayed, perhaps akin to the way we handle flavour text, it would give antags an obvious answer as to who has filled out their information and who hasn't, encouraging the use of exploitables more often. If this has been changed already, I apologize! Here are two versions that I've drafted up as an example. The main idea being to just convey at surface glance if someone has filled out their antag exploitables or not. Lastly, this is an incredibly small change but can we please move the "Yes!" to join the Revolution or the Company onto the left instead of being on the right? In a recent round both myself, and someone I converted made the same mistake of going "Yes, I am will join.", only to click "No!" like the smooth brains we are. Which usually then brings about an awkward situation of discreetly asking for the prompt once more over looc. If it can't be moved, maybe the text colours are made green for "Yes!" and red for "No!"?

Coder Application - Doxxmedearly
niennab replied to Doxxmedearly's topic in Developer Applications Archives
This has easily been a long time coming and I am happy to see you've made the application! Since meeting Doxxmedearly I assumed they already were a developer given the volume of work that they have done and do for the server. +1 -
[Accepted] Caelphon's Command Application
niennab replied to Caelphon's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Although I believe Command Antags will soon no longer be a thing, I deeply enjoyed Caelphon's play as Ezra during a round where facing decommissioning Ezra had stolen the station's funds and attempted to fake their own death, resulting in a genuinely sad exchange when finally caught by Security. You roleplay fascinating characters that I hope to get to know more. Easy +1 from me. (feel free to advertise your application at round end too if you want!) -
Beautifully written. I have no qualms with it. In fact, it makes me want to make an Industrial even more. It may be worth addressing why station-bound chassis aren't utilized for the work, given their more if not equally repressed nature. Although I understand from an OOC and character generation perspective that having them be Industrial IPCs lends itself better narratively for players. Perhaps the humanoid form lends itself better to the terrain? Or that both chassis types are used in tandem? This is however a small issue but one thought that came to mind in reading the document. Nonetheless, you have my support!

I have been wanting something such as this for a long time, even before malf was removed from the rotation. IPCs are often neglected during long and vampire rounds for obvious reason. One method of balancing may be if it's a traitor/ninja/etc item that uploads the virus to APCs with a limited charge. This requires the traitor to consider which APCs to hack as well as requiring garnering access to APCs behind department doors. Better yet, it can replace the current effect of using an emagger on an IPC which seems to do nothing??? Or it makes their limbs weaker???

Yes! Yesssss! I would love this for coffee delivery runs as well. Although, who is the mad lad bringing their own creamers and sugar cubes to work?

If you want to just write a one to two or even three paragraph summary as to how Dorian got to Tau Ceti space and the Aurora keep in mind that's more than viable. -
Regarding the Departmental Security Test Merge
niennab replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
Whenever I have to sit in on an interview, I have a habit of following the party in question up until the doors. With the current layout, this means that once the two parties enter, I have to hustle my way through 4 rooms just to get to the other side. If we could put the two doors near one another again I think that'd be all swell and dandy. Example:
