I think this only happened because mechs are somewhat bugged against simplemobs and they cannot be damaged by them, and the tyrant was unable to do much damage to the mech while it was killed.

The first issue I have is that it was a unreasonable amount of time between the vote ending and the results being revealed, it has been a whole year, with almost radio silence in the meantime, outside of sometimes being told that the results will come soon. It feels like the same is happening again now, with more silence regarding when this will be happening. The second issue I have is what is being proposed isn't actually second in command, so those who voted for it aren't getting what they voted for, while those who didn't vote for it are losing on Xeno XOs too, which feels like a net negative all around. The third issue I have is how it has been handled, after the proposed implementation was revealed, there was a large amount of negative feedback, but that has not been listened to, and the thread was locked and it seems that the implementation will be going ahead despite all of this negative feedback. There is a PR to add hoverbeds up currently, though they are only being added to research at first, since the adding them for first responders part was contested, and removed to not hold up the PR.

I like the idea of this PR, it can be seen as not a good thing to take a learner role slot when you're not actually learning, so making lab assistants into a RP role and giving a new learner slot for research seems good.

I agree, I'd want a second vote of something like "do you want the XO changes to go through if this means alien XOs have to change their job?"

I am absolutely NOT a fan of new species restrictions being placed on XO whatsoever and others were not too, when I asked that question last year, on page 2 of this thread. I kind of feel this sways votes, with the fact that it's suddenly going "oh, and any tajara/unathi/diona/ipc xos are being kicked out of the position now"
