I'm not joking, I actually would do the secretary role... Except, I mean, that's kinda how an Assistant can be, if you try. But, I would love if the paperwork can be done from a computer. Maybe a program you can download to a computer, which requires a printer hardware if it weren't for the fact that pretty much every computer comes with that hardware installed already anyway. I'm biased toward this, as I play the role, but anything to involve more computers help Tech Support. Even marginally, as it may give them another thing to do: Installing new hardware into a computer, for example. And I do agree, if you could do it more conveniently from the computer, you might see it more... I like paperwork. I want to see more of it done, both legitimately, and I want to see Antags using it against the crew more. This would be a good QoL thing, I think. Overall I like the idea.

This is the only head of security I've seen manage to pull off the ability to randomly appear at the end of a shift without me even noticing they existed this shift, and are capable of actually yelling out orders and getting people to listen. Otherwise, I finally got to be in Command with them, and I will say that I do not regret it. They themself did wonderfully. They manage the department well, their character is just as great as ever. This is still an easy +1, without a doubt.

So... I want to put in my two cents here. I think Revenant can be alright. The idea that it generates no RP... is not entirely true. I mean, it generates quite a bit of RP for some people. Let me say not in a good way, but it does generate RP. Someone is dragged off by spooky ghost, into the dark, and either very wounded or killed, the other characters of the round are going to react, ideally. If your character's friend is hurt or killed, your character is going to suffer or vice versa. I saw quite a bit of good RP that came from it... Albeit from people that didn't even enjoy the round and only did so because they were good RPers but that's besides the point; it still did technically generate RP. The problem is that it generated RP at the expense of another player. This is because players on Aurora don't like to die. I understand why, even if I don't entirely agree with the mentality. An issue I have is that I'm not sure we know how smart they are supposed to be. I get that an Admin told someone somewhere and those people try to tell others, but there's nowhere as far as I know that details this. Inevitably people aren't going to know just what they can and can't do. Are they just blue people? Are they animalistic? Are they a mix of the two? Like Faye said, during one round we had them building weapons and bombs, venting very specific areas on the station that no one was even in. It was just a place that could have helped us a little bit. Or very much, considering they vented the main level later. I mean, for what reason other than to fuck with Science, does a Revenent vent only Xenobotany and EVA Prep? Alright, I don't know where they spawn; maybe outside so it was just a coincidence as they tried to get inside. But if that isn't the case, then it's just another example of them acting intelligent, and knowledgeable of the station's layout, and purpose. At that point, is that not a bit metagaming? We had a round not long after that one. Someone did a spooky ghost thing, and darkened the station, and harassed us all. They scared us, and ran off into the dark. They broke lights. They dragged people off, wounded and let them go, for the Doctor to take care of. Everyone fucking loved it. It reminds me of the Revenants on a much smaller, and organized scale. Revenant lacks organization. There's what, five or six? And they are all named the same and look the same. Say two of them are trying the spooky thing, three of them are trying to just harass or whatever, maybe break bluespace related items and things, and final guy decides to actively attack crew. With the last guy, the crew will attack back... including the other five. And even worse is the fact that when those initial six die, other players can take their place. Who knows what those other players have in mind? That is what causes it to devolve into TDM. I will not fault security if they did not attack first. Their job is to protect the station, and if the revenant appears to be hostile and literally attacking crew, why would anyone assume the others are different? It has potential to be worked on. Geeves has done well in creating something interesting, and I don't want to see it gotten rid of just yet. They are still working on it: We need to actually give them feedback as to how to improve it. Not just saying "It has potential, but I don't like it" or straight up "Delete it this sucks". What it needs is organization. It shouldn't be a Ghost Spawner role. It should be an actual Antag you toggle. Then the ability to ahelp bad revenents needs to be addressed as it is still hard to do at the moment.

Originally, being a Dionae Miner or Xenoarch was nothing big for me. Simply pop a flare every so often and you're set for all but the longest extended rounds. However, the new glowsticks don't exactly have the same effect, and do not protect Dionae from the dark. In fact, in my experience, very few things do and the only thing I've found that is practical are UV Lights. In fact, UV lights are the only thing I found that are hand-held, can fit into a pocket and still work, and protect a Diona. Dionae Miners or Xenoarchs may take a lot longer to get started if they even can, because they need to have certain conditions filled. Namely: Cargo Technician/Quartermaster, AI, Captain, or Head of Personnel to order a UV. This is easy on highpop, but during deadhour that may not be the case. In fact, it's very unlikely to be the case. Another condition is the Forensic Technician may be willing to give you theirs, but they... probably need it for their own work, so may not. Finally, the hardest one, is that you search maintenance and hope one spawns, except that comes with a problem that one, miners and xenoarchs don't have maintenance access, and more glaringly, maintenance tunnels are dark and if a Diona could move through the dark they wouldn't be in this predicament. So, I'm suggesting that Miners and Xenoarch start with a UV light each, for the Dionae. NOTE: I will admit, I have yet to try a Floodlight, but that is not very convenient even if it does work, seeing as how both jobs already have something to drag, without having to also bring a floodlight.

Ramke's Command (CE) Application
Zer0Winds replied to Ramke's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've had the pleasure of working with them in Command. They are very capable, Val is a great character, and overall I can't approve this enough. They seem very helpful as well, which also makes me actually motivated to want to learn more Engineering. Again, can not +1 it enough. -
[ACCEPTED] Zer0Winds' Skrell Application
Zer0Winds replied to Zer0Winds's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
That was quick. 1) They are all quite close, and Qrose got along well with them. They did support their departure but at the same time were a bit skeptical about life outside the Federation. 2) Beyond their Quya, Qrose has yet to find what they would consider their Qu'Poxii. They are however very close with said Quya, and cough exploitable info will definitely mention how they would be quite protective of the union. 3) They follow the Qeblak faith. 4) Not going to lie this one was hard to answer: I think the one that was closest to where an archaeologist would have worked was Qer'Zolvq, with intentions to move away from just mining work into actual full archaeology; another factor in their departure from the Jargon Federation. -
[ACCEPTED] Zer0Winds' Skrell Application
Zer0Winds posted a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
BYOND Key: Zer0Winds Character Names: Alice Stratos Index AMADEUS Phuan Van Dao Akhtar Rrhamrare Vazhirthaamro Kitani GERHARD Workers of the Abyssal Depths Atria Kahraradir Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Banana Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Honestly, been somewhat interested in a while, but could never come up with a name or good background story. But, I was sitting around really thinking about it a lot, and well, here I am now. They interest me, since well, they are this scientific race, and astrology plays into their faith, almost like a direct contrast. Seeing as how I like various sciences, mainly astronomy, astrology is another thing I'm at least a bit with. It kinda resonates with me, except they are far, far, far, smarter than I actually am. I also like to play Liaison, and being a Jargon Federation Consular seems like it could be quite interesting. Finally, this is the last whitelist before I collect them all, until AI. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They are pretty similar in structure to humans, save for those funny looking headtails. Otherwise, they are very different. They don't typically show emotion via facial features, like most humans. Rather than frowning, or grinning, etc, they tend to use their headtails to express emotion instead. Skrell live for a long time, and may work in a specific field for years, and years, to master that field. Age does also affect what a Skrell thinks of others. Young Skrell that are in prestigious positions are looked upon highly, and older Skrell that are in low, or menial positions are looked down upon. Finally, there is one, very major difference with the Skrell. That would be the Srom, and their psionic powers. Skrell can speak telepathically, and read minds... But if a Skrell was to do so a non-consenting individual of another race, they can be criminally charged. Skrell are split between Listeners and Recievers, ones who listen in on the Wake, and ones who are directly influenced by the Wake. Listeners are often looked upon with suspicion, as many radical elements are Listeners. Character Name: Qrose Nyala'Toqli-Fet Please provide a short backstory for this character Qrose is an archaeologist from Qerrbalak. They are particularly social, and are constantly debating the meaning behind various artifacts they find. While some Skrell may enjoy talking with Qrose about it, this may come off as annoying to others of a different race, that may not share their passion for the subject. While Qrose specializes in archaeology, they do have knowledge of anomalous studies. A receiver, they are quite loyal to the Jargon Federation. Qrose's name addition 'Toqli-Fet is from the planets' status as the "Eyes of Qerrbalak". Qrose identifies with the planets, as they are the eyes into the past through archaeology. As Toqli-Fet was once thought to watch over the Skrell for thousands of years, Qrose now acts as it's eyes on the ground, to return this. To Qrose, there was a limit to what they could learn in Jargon space in their field. For this reason they prepared themselves to work outside of the Jargon Federation, to continue their work in human space; namely Tau Ceti. They worked in the various facilities around the system conducting xenoarchaeological studies, employed by NanoTrasen. They have been to most areas in Tau Ceti at least once, during their work. Their Quya, of which their second name, Nyala, is from, is not the largest; only consisting of around six, including Qrose. However, it is very long-standing, with rarely anyone joining or leaving. Qrose never truly left the union, when moving away from Jargon space, and often would return for some time, around the Starlight Gathering. What do you like about this character? Well, their colour. I like yellow. Anyway, in actual seriousness, they are honestly simple. A traditional xenoarch that works in Tau Ceti. But, as someone told me about my captain, generic isn't exactly all that bad. I don't know... I just like them, I guess. I can't say much else about it than that. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10 but sometimes 6.5/10 if I'm tired. Notes: Typical "ask me questions and I'll try to answer them" quote here. -
I haven't seen much of them, but what I did see was pretty good. Their RD was good, they RPed, and as far as I could tell, Science was managed well. I can not speak for any other command role she has played, but I believe that even if someone may not have done the best as one role, they aren't unready for Command. Head of Security is hard, and can be stressful, and a lot of people have overly high expectations for them, just waiting for them to screw up. From what I can tell, her RD is pretty good, and her RP, is just as well. So, I can confidently offer a +1 to this.

[ACCEPTED] Faye's Command (but really just CMO) App
Zer0Winds replied to Faye <3's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I can say that I was in a round with them and they handled everything well for the most part. I didn't see them much but there was also an emergency situation and being a CMO, in a crisis, and everything goes well, especially while comms are down, they are doing something right. And when I did see them, they RPed well, and they in general were an asset to the station. I can say this is an easy +1 -
It's a minor thing, really, but Taoism is oddly not a religion you can select, despite even being named in New Hai Phong's page. As a result, I have to select "Other" as a religion, for my Taoist NHP Characters, which, like I said, is very minor, but I'd like having Taoism listed as the religion instead, on the records and ID.

I haven't interacted with their actual characters beyond harassing simple conversations with his Taj scientist as my PRA Consular. I have, however, seen their antagonist play, and it is very good. Great RP, and great motivation to do what they do. Great guy, want to interact with his normal characters more often, but I trust him. +1

WickedCybs Finally Does it - Bug Time

Cybs is a great RPer, and all around good guy. I don't doubt they will do well with a bug whitelist. -
Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Zer0Winds Character Name(s): Aksel Blackburn (Xenoarch) SIGMA (Tech Support) GERHARD (Barista) Akoni Caladius (Dominian Consular) Index (NT Rep) Faithful From Vast Deserts (Dominion Consular Mk2) Alice Stratos (Captain) Kazhasta Sistavir (Engineer) Akhtar Rrhamrare (PRA Consular) Vazhirthaamro Kitani (Tech Support) Ri'asma Saranaihn (Warden) HEX-039 (Cargo Specialist. Miner/Cargo Tech) Ka'Akaix'Sikt K'lax (Lab Assistant) AI Name(s): MarsOS Discord username + tag: Zer0Winds#0173 Age: 18 Timezone: Pacific When are you on Aurora?: At this time, usually around the afternoon, and sometimes, later in the night. Problem here is my sleep schedule is ah... bad. It's random, due to various circumstances, but this is about average, in my timezone. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Only about a year and a half now. How long have you played on Aurora: Not sure, but I think it's reaching a year. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I am quite capable of various mechanics, and I pride myself on being able to learn quickly. The only thing I am really clueless about is Medicine, other than that, I have at the very least the necessary knowledge of all roles. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Not in the slightest. Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yes, I've read through it. I mark off a majority of them, the main thing is Activity. On the forums, I'm not quite so active, and Discord is an issue since I have a lot of servers, but if I was accepted, I'd likely take both of those more seriously. As form gameplay activity, I rarely just ghost unless its late into the round, and I was a) Just logging on, or b) Making a character the whole time. I play off and on, with the occasional lengthier break in the event I get a bit burnt out. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No, I have not been banned. Personality Why do you play SS13?: Because it's fun. No, really, I just have fun in the game. RP is something I love to do, hell I RP on other games. DnD, WoW, singleplayer games. Other reasons, because I love space, and this game literally takes place in space. The game in general caught my eye, as something fun to try out. You know, chaotic space station. Well, I noticed the RP after the fact, and suddenly it's on my list of favourite games. Why do you play on Aurora?: I think I talked about this on my Command App, but basically the HRP tag caught my eye. It's the only one of three servers I've played legitimately, and I just like it too much to bother going to any other server. What do moderators do?: They moderate. Basically, they are in charge of making sure rules are being followed, and handling situations in which a rule is either blatantly, or suspected to be broken. They also tend to help out people on the server they moderate, answering questions about game mechanics, or rule clarifications. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It means you are probably an upstanding member of the server, capable of helping out, and following the rules, and you respect people on the server. Thing is, the Aurora is slightly different from other servers, being HRP, and as such, have other rules that need to be upheld, and in turn moderated. Why do you want to be a moderator?: So Shadow will be my friend. Honestly, I just want to help with the server, in some way. Read said mods are needed, well I like the server, and want to help out. Not really much beyond that. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: My least favourite question in anything. I'd guess my honesty, patience, lack of bias Except for the PRA, level-headedness. I don't know. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I don't take offense to anything that is said to me, if someone insults me. I don't really get angry too easily, and if I do get angry, I'll step back, and either calm down, or let someone else take over. Stress, depends. If it's really stressfull, I'll probably end up stepping back, thinking on it, ask for help. Anything Else You Want to Add: Need something (Likely the qualities question) more than I have somewhere, let me know. Other than that, I can only say that I should be rejected immediately if the fact that I have such irregular activity is a problem. Oh, and if being relatively younger on the server is a problem. I wrote this up in Notepad, expect me to edit it, probably immediately after posting.

[Accepted] Zer0's Unexpected Vaurca Application
Zer0Winds replied to Zer0Winds's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Sikt thinks of the Zo'ra rather lowly, for their arrogance in assuming they are the rightful rulers of the K'lax. The C'thur, they aren't really as bad, but they do think the hive is foolish, compared to the Technologically Advanced K'lax. For religion, I'd say they follow the Hive Pantheon, since they revere Leto tremendously. -
It's time, for another application. Though an unexpected one. BYOND Key: Zer0Winds Character Names: Once more. Again, only my most played. Alice Stratos: Captain Index: NT Liaison Faithful From Vast Deserts: Dominia Consular Akhtar Rrhamrare: PRA Consular Vazhirthaamro Kitani: Tech Support SIGMA: Also Tech Support/Corporate Reporter (Temporarily retired, while in TCFL) GERHARD: Barista HEX-039: Hephaestus Cargo Specialist (Miner/Cargo Tech) Kazhasta Sistavir: Station Engineer Ri'asma Saranaihn: Warden Felix Antonisen: Lab Assistant Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character: RGB (0,80,60) Leto Brood, of the K'lax Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have indeed. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have mixed feelings about the Vaurca. Their lore tended to confuse me, but I decided to... give it a try. Anyway, I have been seeing some Vaurca players, and I kind of got some character concept in mind, and then I slowly began getting interested in playing at least one Vaurca. I don't have any great reasoning honestly, beyond just a bit more variation in what I can do, not going to lie. Though I have also been interested in the possibility of playing a Ta, but that would come at a much later time. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They are insectoid, with hard exoskeletons and breathe Phoron, instead of the typical air mixture on station. I'll be perfectly honest I'm not quite sure how it translates to in-game play, and it's something I'll have to see in game. Anyway, they are split into Bound and Unbound, which the former is almost like a Cyborg, they are often called Drones, they are very specialized in their field, and typically are less "educated" because they have less free will. The latter, the Unbound, are the more human like, they have free will, and are typically "smarter" than their Bound counterparts. Vaurca are highly discriminated, unable to hold command positions, and even require avowals of responsibility forms signed and on-record by command staff, to take any non-civilian or intern-level job. They are also split between three more variants, to further segregate them, that being Ka (Workers), Za (Soldiers), and Ta (Breeders). Ta are only ever seen on station as representatives, and are literally made for the job they are given, meaning they are highly intelligent in the way things work in Biesel. Vaurca tend to literally live to serve, Unbound or not, and will often find enjoyment in working, especially if it benefits their hive, and brood. Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Sikt K'lax Please provide a short backstory for this character Ka'Akaix'Sikt is an unbound, hatched in the Leto brood, of the K'lax hive. They worked particularly to study the artifacts acquired through Leto's search into the past. Ka'Akaix'Sikt worked farther away, with a multitude of Bound and Unbound with them, in human space, and for this reason, they had adopted a highly sociable attitude, and enjoy greatly sharing their discoveries with the different aliens, organic or not. This led to people finding Sikt to be strange, and somewhat annoying. They did not let up though, continuing to speak of the discoveries that the brood would find, and talk about how they are definitely linked to the ancient Vaurca. Invested in their search for artifacts, they learned of a certain asteroid, that had many recorded ancient objects, and Xenoarchaeologists working on the station situated on top of it. The station, being owned by NanoTrasen, meant that Sikt, if they wanted to serve the brood, and locate yet more of the "Vaurca past", they would need to be employed there, to which they had moved to Tau Ceti. They would work as an Assistant, until they could prove useful, and trusted... Then, they would begin their search on the asteroid, and share their findings with all who would listen. What do you like about this character? They are... Probably my most social character, oddly enough. I mean, I have them envisioned to be... Almost annoyingly talkative, and their sociable attitude means that if I do get them into a Xenoarchaeologist position, I'll be able to share my findings with all who would listen, like I said. Great RP potential in a potentially lonely job. Also, they're teal. Teal is a cool colour. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I am... Decent, I think. At least, I try my best. Notes: Sorry the backstory is short. It's not much, I know, and if you want more, do tell me, and I'll see what I can do.

[Approved] DeadLantern's Command Application
Zer0Winds replied to DeadLantern's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'm going to post this now, but I do have a minor disclaimer of I wasn't entirely paying attention the entire round and will edit this later if I see more. What I saw, while doing a rare ghost session, was interesting. You did well, I thought, in a really hellish round. Mazer is a seemingly cool character, and I wouldn't mind seeing them more in command. -
I'm going to admit I'm the mad lass that brings their own creamer. Not sugar, but I don't put in sugar in my coffee, and I only make tea at home. The reason is though, that I like Hazelnut, and the only way I get Hazelnut, is if I bring it myself. What I'm saying is I support this.

[Accepted] Mel's Command Application
Zer0Winds replied to Melariara's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Mel is great so far. I don't interact with them... all that much, but they are nice when I do. They do well managing their department, from what I see, and even handle shifts where they are the only command member well, without jumping straight to "Okay, I'm Acting Captain now." They should definitely keep the whitelist. -
[Accepted] Caelphon's Command Application
Zer0Winds replied to Caelphon's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I thought I commented here. Oh well. Caelphon's play is excellent at times, and being present for the round nienna mentioned, as one of the Security, I can say it was indeed a great (and sad) exchange, even for myself, who had only seen the outcome. Their captain, I have not seen much of, on account of the difference of times we get on, but what I witness is indeed well enough. All in all, +1 -

[On Trial] Toast's Command Application

Got me a room on the Odin for a 10% pay decrease in the contract, despite verbally saying 15%. Really though, I've seen them a few times, as AI and others, and as I thought, he does well so far with the RP. Xavier is pretty good, so take this +1 -
WickedCyb's Applies for Tajara

Val Xiram is a good character, and Cybs, a good RPer. I trust that they can play this character well, and I agree that they are different from many Hadiists, in a good way. 0/10, thinks M'sai are better though. +1, for sure. -
[Accepted] Shenaanigans' Command Application
Zer0Winds replied to Shenaanigans's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Valeriya is a great character, and I've seen Lusula around. I agree with everyone else that Valeriya is indeed a wonderful candidate for HoP. +1, for sure.
