  1. At first I was skeptical but after evaluating your post and what we know about The Old Guy from The Outer Worlds, I can't help but think you're right. The Aurorastation-Obsidian conspiracy needs to be uncovered and made aware to the public at large, to prevent Obsidian from stealing any characters from Aurorastation ever again. I suspect the headmins may be funneling character information directly to Obsidian, and they must be on their payroll. Stay woke.
  2. Virology doesn't currently bring much to the table, and either needs a complete rework or to be nuked completely. It feels like it exists to send three people to medbay for them to AFK in quarantine every once in a while.
  3. I support this as the stun baton is a blatant half life reference and I refuse to tolerate its continued existence
  4. hard concur
  5. I fail to see what people mean by potential. Could someone describe to me what wizard actually brings to the table? I have never, in my six years of playing SS13, experienced a wizard round where I walked away feeling like I didn't waste 2+ hours of my life. First off, wizard's tone is abominably unfitting. Someone will say "But we have other magical gamemodes!", and my counterpoint is that our other magical gamemodes are a lot darker in tone. Cult, vampire, whatever - they're not jovial blue men in robes. Do you compare Vampire: The Masquerade or Darkest Dungeon to Wizard 101 or Harry Potter? The best example of how out of place wizard feels is to bring up The Wizard Federation, which is an entity some wizards love to reference. I don't know why wizards have a nation-state, but apparently they do. As far as gamemode and gimmick variety is concerned - All you have are your spells. You could do some gimmick involving recruiting people to be wizards as well, but if anything this is just another example of how wizard is an LRP gamemode - Who aboard our high-tech research station, in their right mind, would sign a magical contract and start gallivanting around in bright blue robes while declaring themselves apprentices of the Great and Powerful Jhon Jhonson The Black? Furthermore, if wizards DO have some fascinating RP-stimulating potential I'm incapable of seeing, it still means nothing. You know why? Because nobody ever uses it. Having "potential" that is just wasted by every single wizard player is not enough of a reason to keep a nonsense gamemode in. As far as I'm concerned, having wasted potential is a reason to remove it in the first place - it's wasted for a reason, typically. Wizard is a gamemode that is only fun for the person playing wizard, the vast majority of the time. I understand people are afraid of losing variety, but let me give you an analogy: You're in elementary school again, and the school rotates five different meals for lunch. Four of these meals are good. The fifth is a pile of literal dogshit. Would we be depriving the school lunch menu of variety by removing the dogshit from the menu? Yes, we would.
  6. Why does the vent spinning matter?
  7. Necroing this because it recently happened to me. I was ERT lead and sent a message at the CC z-level, only to end up thinking it didn't go through at all.
  8. Gonna have to agree with Geeves here. The current holopad looks strangely out of place - it has odd shading compared to the other things we see on the floor. The vent being the wrong way is very ??? to me - Don't know why it was necessary to point that out. Scrubbers are better, again, shading fits in better. Regarding the walls - I don't at all see what you mean, they use the same perspective as our current walls. All in all, this PR brings Aurora something that it is lacking quite badly at the moment - a consistent, unique visual style.
  9. I prefer Wezzy's sprite
  10. As my archnemesis Geeves apparently approves of the sprites I found, I am afraid to say that I must close the PR and recommend these sprites be deleted from the repos I acquired them from. I apologize for this, but it's for the greater good.
  11. Extremely good, I predict that this will be one of the best PRs to come out for Aurora this year
  12. For future reference, you can see the diffs in the PR itself. Current soda machine: New soda machine: Current grille: New grille: Current stool: New stool:
  13. https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Nanotrasen_Corporation#Stations.2C_Merchant_Fleet_and_the_Fleet_Security_Force The purpose of this thread is to point out an irregularity/oversight in NanoTrasen's lore. While I have no issue with NanoTrasen having a private military, the issue comes from how it's being presented. Notice how NanoTrasen's Asset Protection - a force that's probably more capable that Biesel's own military - is called "Asset Protection" and not the "NanoTrasen Marine Corps"? There's a certain style that comes with corporate private militaries, and PMCs in general. Corpspeak extends to them, the militaristic side of things blending with corporate terminology. PMCs don't call themselves "The Martian Light Infantry Unit" or "The Biesel Mechanized Infantry Division" - they call themselves "Ringspire Inc." or "Academi". So why is NanoTrasen's private fleet called the "NanoTrasen Navy"? Why is their ship designation for security vessels "NMV"? It's incongruent with the rest of the setting. Corporations are powerful in this setting - but the focus is on soft power, influence as opposed to outright action. There's a reason why Tau Ceti is run by the Republic of Biesel, and not the NanoTrasen Colonial Organization. Anyway. All I'm saying is that this section of the article needs a rework. Change the name of the NT fleet arm to something more PMC, less "We, the Megacorporation, are sending the McNavy".
  14. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/8422 Swaps out some ancient/ugly sprites for some nicer/less ancient sprites.
  15. Massive improvement over what we have currently
  16. Also I concur as far as Skrell/Human ERT is concerned
  17. Power rangers
  18. Sec looks too pink. It looks like they're in a pink suit, not a red one.
  19. With the death of Coenraad, many were afraid that I, Aurora's most famous and beloved player, would vanish forever. But worry not, my adoring fans. I have a new character! And a new planet. This one's open to public viewing though, unlike Grootveld. https://docs.google.com/document/d/12a-FQ3QGJSVguwwzwOSUUR7hRRzO9468KDwNz1panE8/edit Anyway, leave your comments and critiques if you have them! Thanks.
  20. I think they could use a replacement. The sprites we're using at quite literally 10+ years old. The issue is that we'd need tiles that fit in with the rest of our art style - while other servers have nicer tiles, they would not mesh well with what we currently have. To that end, consider this thread a brainstorming one, or a request. Let me outline some issues I have with our current floor tiles: 1. They're flat - there isn't any depth to them. Instead of looking sleek or modern, they look like pieces of paper. 2. They're monotone. Self-explanatory, there's no variation to be found. Boring! 3. They're dull. Basically 2.
  21. Friend, a suggestion will always be a suggestion until you do it yourself
  22. You will code this?
  23. There is a built-in failsafe to prevent coretheft when it comes to technomancers. First, I think they can be locked on- second, if they're taken off, they rapidly destabilize and start killing anyone who touches it and isn't a technomancer.
